301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Sexcoin Thread - Now on Crypsty, CoinEX on: October 21, 2013, 02:40:24 PM
BTW, when is the hardfork?

I spoke to Lava on IRC yesterday, so I can tell you I have no idea.... we did speak about the need to regain momentum, and what the bare minimum of changes were, and he's had some difficulties with his hardware, but the new client is ready when it's ready I'm afraid...

I'm not so sure... Uncirculated notes with a 5$ charge...

I'm also a very dedicated shooter, and a "prepper" by circumstance.. The other seems to be cashing in on the "zombie" fad..

You can buy zombie ammo, zombie bleeding targets, zombie grips for your 1911.. my reaction is "mehhh"..

At the end of the day, we can't control who chooses to use SXC, we are just picking up sites that are using coinpayments.net for alt coin processing... Once we do the hardfork we can start recruiting websites within our niche.

as you have refused to add the vote option for no new coins to be added I have to post it here

My vote > None of the coins listed in the vote should be added

if you agree with this please post the same

+1 (For Now)

I don't see extremecoin.

Also, please don't list any more coins, unless the coin really has good support....

I am thinking the market has past reached the saturation point for altcoins.

Being listed on the exchange should give value added and developers some incentive to maintain these coins, but at some point with too many coins, that value added gets diluted.

Why not just refuse to list any coin that has not been released for more than five months and shown developer and community support ? It would stop some of the pump amd dumps...

SXC... You can say people love Startrek, but even more people love porn.. It's hard to get solid figures on, but it's estimated to have an annual turnover of 10-14 billion dollars.

If you get over being childish or prudish, you may actually see the business opportunity.. "marrying" what are essentially digital goods to a digital currency..

And of course offering anonmynity to the user, defeating freindly fraud, and allowing the industry to adopt a microtransactional business model..

It's a high risk investment, there's no debate there... But it's also high profit, considering the potential.

I know things are really quiet for SXC at the moment...

We could go announcing a new site accepting us, but the truth is we are trying to keep quiet for the moment.

A lot depends on the new client, and lava is determined to make the next hardfork the last..

I actually pushed for the quicker block time of 30 secs, but once I had an understanding of how it really effects the coin, I'm no longer in favor.. Sure it works right now, but right now we aren't carrying a load of commerce. It could be very very bad for the future.

Being quick is a great selling point, but it's of little use if it endangers reliabilty..

So we (being lava) are still working away in the background... Just going easy on the promo until we are happy with the product Wink

Not a "coin expert", but... In the case of SXC it would be bad.

It's one of the few coins that is centred on commerce as it's function, and the volitility would drive away merchants, which would then reduce it's real value..

We are still on 30s blocks with 60 blocl retargets.

Lava is coding in RPG's suggestion for a "poison pill" to stop flash miners in their tracks, and has found a little weirdness here and there.

We've decided that it's best that the new client has all the fixs and features we want, so there won't be another hardfork in a long time, so theres no deadline on it.. It comes out when lava has done everything that he wants to do to it, and tested it to make sure it has no problems..

Basically I would have to launch a civil suit in the US, If I did it in an australian court they could make a judgement, but it would not be enforceable.

Under australian law an on-line fraud comes under the juristriction of the police in the state in which the person was defrauded, and as it is a criminal act, the accused can be extradited to that juristriction. Australia has a extradition treaty with the US.

I really think this is the way for me to go, I won't get my money back, but I might get my moneys worth, and I'm more than a little tired of the get rich quick scam ridden environment pervading cryptocurrency.

I'll report it tomorrow, and while it will be up to the police to investigate and decide whether to prosecute, an extradition and some jail time would better the community as it would sober up the "wild wild west" mentality, so I think it's worth giving a try.
