301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2014, 10:10:49 AM

The difference now is that China has actually got to a sustainable solution. Now they have found a solution which provides the capital control they desperately needed without completely banning a revolutional technology. Similar to the compromise that they came to with the internet as whole.

Sorry for bothering but what's the solution they found? (somehow I managed to miss it)

Today, BtcTrade and Huobi join OKCoin, FXBTC, and BTC38 in announcing an end to their acceptance of Chinese RMB deposits via bank card recharge. It is worth re-mentioning that Bitcoin is not banned in China. China has merely forced Chinese Bitcoin exchanges to operate outside of Chinese banks, fiscally. China wants to limit the amount of Bitcoins that can be bought by Chinese citizens to a measly $50,000 USD worth annually, thus limiting capital flight by that method.

it seems that might be all of the ammo the bears had.

if so, the moon is not far away.

I've been reading exactly this every other day for 3 months now.

In other words, we have reached peak China-bear-ness, which was something that could not be said 3 months ago.

Current situation of the HODLers:

Will the leopard HODL his dinner or will it fall to the hyenas?

epic hodl analogy

annnd. there is that panic buying i was talking about.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 01, 2014, 08:01:19 AM
People who sold at the bottom, when will you learn. Bears who sold at $450ish when will you buy back ?

So we've hit a bottom and now we are in a bull market again? $435 was the low that we will never see again?

not out of the woods yet, but so far so good. Seems like everyone was just sitting there waiting for it to hit 400... That doesnt seem to be happening, so panic buying should commence fairly soon.

Has anyones Bitstamp wire been credited yet? Noramlly in by now  Undecided

when did u send?

Early Friday, but Ive often had deposits credited within a few hours...

My deposit (SEPA) from friday hasn't been credited yet either. But I've noticed that Bitstamp has become a bit slower with SEPA deposits recently unfortunately.

I have noticed that as well.

It's possible that they are getting so many deposits right now that they are falling behind.

this probably is the case. I know personally that I had to really fight the urge to not go into my "no touchy" money and avoid sending more to bitstamp.
308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: March 29, 2014, 05:11:11 PM
What do others think of Luc's inverted cup and handle suggestion?

Its a dream. No fucking way is that going to happen.
Worst case scenarios is another dip into the low 500s, but we will not be seeing sub 500 again.

 Roll Eyes

Should have known that China would be China. Nothing is for sure in bitcoin. If it does come true that on the 15th its banned in China then 400 probably wont hold. Otherwise I would very surprised if we broke the bottom of the pennant (at 400).
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: March 29, 2014, 04:06:07 PM
Looks like your inverted cup n' handle is becoming a likelier possibility, luc

That, combined with an (approximate) descending triangle, seem to be some pretty damn strong bearish signals if validated Grin

this is a bullish pennant.

Its going down a bit more almost assuredly, but for the love of god dont panic sell at 550. its going to touch it again probably once more and never look back.

Just tried getting the web wallet going and my head turned inside out. UI upgrade needs to be a priority  Undecided

I said this on multiple thread - I completely agree, our currency UI is far from intuitive.
Cross board UI improvements are in the works, both short term (weeks) and long terms (months).
(You can see our roadmap here)

I just want to comment that masterchain does allow you to add addresses to your account, in a way that you don't need to input the private key on each transaction ... but there are a few gotchas there. Omniwallet is our flagship project that is targeted to reach or surpass the level of usability you can expect from Coinbase ... it's in alpha testing now and is not ready yet for general use.

You are welcome to contact Yuval our resident UX expert with any suggestions at yuval@mastercoin.org.

Ok, thanks Ron. I see that you are addressing this in the wallet upgrades this quarter. I would also suggest that the mastercoin.org homepage create a step by step tutorial to get people using the DEX along with a comprehensive storyboard on the homepage which explains what Mastercoin is, how it works and why people would want to use it.

There are two video tutorials for the Masterchain web wallet:
http://masterprotocoleducation.org/?s=masterchain

For the Masterchest windows wallet here:
http://masterprotocoleducation.org/how-to-install-the-masterchest-windows-wallet/

Do we want people to be using this yet? If so, this finding stuff on random sites around the internet is not going to work. It needs to be easy to find, understand and use. Is there noone in the marketing side of the project yet?

well excellent it would seem nxt and mastercoin are both dead now  Shocked

What?

The DEx is now live (we waited for block number 290630 which was supposed to arrive at midnight, but ended up a bit late).
Please check out the wallets on mastercoinwallets.org - the orderbook at masterchest.info already shows some sell orders.

I have a big blog post ready that will be released later today to celebrate the DEx.
The one piece of info that the post is waiting for is a video tutorial for masterchest wallet, that should be ready a bit later today.

Congrats!

Is there somewhere in particular we should go to figure out how to use the DEX? I cant find it on the page itself.
316  Economy / Speculation / Re: my intuition says: we're sitting on a rocket about to be ignited on: March 15, 2014, 11:26:04 AM
Anybody think we're on a secret rocket now? I can't help but feel like that's the case now... by all metrics, the user base has more than doubled since last November... and it seems like a wave of US-based exchanges opening up is just around the corner...

I had the same feeling this morning as well. This feeling is very familiar.
317  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 14, 2014, 07:32:45 AM
why are we moving down? i expect to hit $700+ this weekend

we are at the end of another triangle it seems. the next day or so should be pretty interesting.

318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goomboo's Journal on: March 13, 2014, 05:51:27 PM
Lebing's assertion only makes sense if goomboo would have aggressively pushed for a particular set of parameters

As I mentioned in my post, even if someone chooses their own strategy, its relatively trivial to analyze trading data to see which single variable triggers are causing trades, in which amounts, etc. It matters not whether he pushes one specific strategy or another, if a program can pick up any single variable trade with predictability, it can be exploited. It is only with more complicated strategies that involve multiple variables, is it more difficult to pinpoint such trading data to exploit. Even then, with a long enough time frame - they are also possible to pick up on.

Here's my take. We're gonna need a bigger track Cool

Interesting, thanks.

I wouldn't use Germany as a shining example of a worker's paradise if I were you. It's a place where they work year round to bail out Greeks and Italians who take summers off.

billiyjoeallen, I wish your facts supported your bright rethoric.

It's incredible how far this "northern Europe workers" vs "lazy Mediterraneans" lie has gone.

Disclosure: I'm Spanish.

Why would you need to take a vacation when you have a holiday everyday in the middle of the business day?
