how can one mine funk?

Any pools or instructions for solo mining?

thanks a bunch!
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Solar Window - a complete power game changer or vaporware? on: February 26, 2017, 02:34:50 PM
Hi guys,

I dont know if you heard, but there is a company called Solar Window, which (for some time now) promises transparent electricity generating windows,
with (take a breath) 50 times more electricity generated on the same surface then standard solar panels (if I'm right) and turnaround time of 1 year.
http://solarwindow.com/

Sounds way too good to be true, if you ask me,
but is there merit to these claims? This basically means free electricity after the ROI, which is exceptionally short.

Anybody more familiar with them?
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: February 26, 2017, 09:33:17 AM
I reached out to BitmainWarranty to see if they could do the repair here instead of shipping to China, but the response is NO.  The L3 has only been sold in China so far so you can only get support by shipping back to China.

So if you bought an L3 and shipped it anywhere outside of China you will have to mail back the parts to China for repair or replacement.

damn.
Mine is in the mail, I'll let you guys know how it works.

Too bad, I was planning on buying a boatload if they functioned without hiccups.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which one GPU should i buy on: February 25, 2017, 09:56:45 PM
I'll join the question,

I can get ASUS DUAL RX480 4GB for $184
or the same card with 8 GB for $210,
which one is better value for the money?

Also, I can get Asus strix rx 470 4gb for $167 or MSI rx 470 8gb for $194.
How do they fare against 480?

While talking about RX 480's (and 470's), which company makes them the best quality:
ASUS, Gigabyte, Sapphire (I've heard bad stuff about them), Powercolor, MSI or XFX?

Thanks a lot!

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: February 24, 2017, 02:43:34 PM
I dont make nearly close on other algos, of what I make with zec.
(1070), it's doing 410-440 sol/s and sipping the max amount of juice, even though I limited its power to 84%,
temp is 75c, mem clock +250, gpu clock + 200.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Current hash rate with R9 Fury Nitro? on: February 24, 2017, 01:56:17 PM
I'm looking for that answer myself.
I can tell you for my cards, gtx 970 and 1070, both lightly OC'd.
I'm getting 270 and 420 h/s for ZEC, which is currently very profitable for me.

I'm planning to do a far bigger farm, but I'm still fighting with myself over which cards will I take.
Currently ZEC is booming, but how long will that last? And nvidia is far better for it than AMD,
yet AMD is better for other coins, such as ETH, so I'm not sure...
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: February 23, 2017, 03:02:24 PM
shit.

I just ordered one. :/
I'll report back how it works.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 1x8 pin GPU's ok for mining? on: February 19, 2017, 12:54:36 PM
With more GPU farms you'll have a hard time paying power bills. Overclocking raises power and don't get you much in return. So in reality you'd want underclocking potential rather than overclocking. In that regard 1x8pin is more than enough.

Thanks for the advice - that is exactly something I'll try today (finally getting a consumption meter),
I need to check if card running at, for example, 80W has better ROI than card running on 140W and giving like xx% better hash rate.
When on this topic, how much are you guys paying for electricity and where are you located?

@Bare - yeah, true.
Right now I'm using KFA2 1070 with 8+6 pins, and it's running 2075 mhz 24/7, power consumption around 80%, temp 60c.
I'll check the concrete Watt numbers today.

@rentGPU,
yeah Gigabyte G1 is the cheapest (open air) model I can buy, I have their gtx 970 and I've been abusing it for months and I must say I'm very satisfied.
Ps, their 1070 comes with 3 year warranty! Very nice indeed.

I've heard a lot of bad stuff about blower style GPUs, so I won't take them, even though ASUS blower 1070 is the cheapest one can buy.

Guys, please lets not turn this very valuable forum topic in a shitstorm.

Thank you!
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 1x8 pin GPU's ok for mining? on: February 18, 2017, 10:55:06 PM
Fan type? Generally you don't want blower cards for mining. Assuming you can get them at an extremely good price, they're really not at cost effective as RX 470s that outhash the 1070s with almost all algorithms and cost just around 160 with rebate.

Open air, of course.
I'm just wondering about that 1x8 pin connector, and how does it affect mining, I intend to push them to at least 2075 mhz, possibly more.
I can get 1070s at almost 60% of usual price, so... 470s have faster ROI, but take more mobos, ram, disks, PSUs... to achieve the same earning rate.
I made a lot of calculations, and this seems like the optimal setup.

Just not sure about that 1x8 pin... The cheapest model I can get is gigabyte's.

311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Are 1x8 pin GPU's ok for mining? on: February 18, 2017, 10:09:47 PM
Hey guys,
so I'm planning to create a small (for start) farm of 1070s, since I can get them for a good price,
but I'm wondering - most of the "lower end" 1070 models (like gigabyte, inno, asus...) have a single 8 pin connector,
instead of 8+6.

Are they good for mining? I read they are prone to throttling, I'm guessing that is not good in 100% gpu load situations,
like 24/7 mining.

What are your experiences?

Thanks
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash Miner - easy-to-use best-profit multi-device cryptocurrency miner on: February 16, 2017, 01:22:03 PM
CPU crashes for me, cant even be benchmarked with the newest NH version.
I have AMD fx 8300.
If it is giving an error saying this:
Code:
the application was unable to start correctly (0x00007b)

Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=48145
Then install it.
After that, you should be able to run the CPU benchmark and mining.
xmr-stak-cpu miner requires that redistributable to run.

It works, thanks, but for some reason - I'm getting better revenue with old NH version 1.7.4.5, so I'll stick with it some more.

Couple of interesting questions - my GTX 1070 was overclocked to around 2100 mhz and once per day it "resets" itself to stock settings and can't be overclocked
until I reset the comp. Any ideas about this?

While that happened, I noticed that at stock settings I'm getting a tad less revenue (like $1.25-1.35 vs. $1.35-1.55 when overclocked),
and card uses only 48% power and has 50c temperature, vs. 90% power and 70+c when overclocked...

So, anyone did the math?
It seems to me it's almost not worth overclocking the card?
I'm also guessing it can last 5+ years working around 50-60c temperature....

What do you guys think?

Nice work!

One thing though:
you said 1070's dont convert as well on Nicehash - yet mine is making $1.2-1.5 on equihash (nicehash) and WTM site says $1.2-$1.4 (changes all the time),
so I think NH is pretty darn good (if sometimes not better than mining with classic tools).

PS - what kind of rigs do people who get 1M hashes use?
Massive GPU farm or?
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: February 07, 2017, 12:09:15 AM
Hi guys,
just a quick one - I'm using the miner, v0.0.9b (because 0.2.0b just crashes for me),
I have gtx 970, and without any apparent rule - sometimes I get 195 sol/s, sometimes 60, sometimes 240.

Really weird, and my card runs only on 50% power consumption and 50 celsius. GPU load is 99%, memory load around 70%.

How can I maximize sols?

thanks
Looks like the problem does not reside with EWBF, you should get 240+ steady.
My guess would be that another process has priority.

Yeah, weird.
I just reset the computer and started again, and now I'm getting 220 sol/s,
but my card is just at 60 celsius, and 65% power consumption.

When I mined, for example, Sia coin - it was at 75 celsius and 88% power consumption,
I feel I can squeeze more power out of it...

EDIT: I overclocked the gpu clock at +250 mhz, now I'm getting 240+ sols, and temperature is still around 62 celsius, consumption 67% TDP.

Guys will you give the option to turn off 2FA?
My iPhone is dying and I'm afraid I wont be able to access my account if it does.

I didn't see any "lost my 2FA" options on the control panel/wallet?

thanks

Cool, I'm getting some (and I've been a top miner today) Tongue

Keep in mind Polo is where the money is, if you list there - sky's the limit.

Thank you for your support!

Polo is not within reach in our current state. We believe in time when we released projects from our roadmap, we'll get some attention from them.

Yeah, I know, just stating the obvious.
I love the fact you guys seem down to earth and realistic.  I believe in the project - keep up the good work.
