Congratulations on the release today! Reading through the comments on here and taking a look at the site ourselves, it seems that the launch went quite well. We have fixed the countdown timer on Belacoin.org/invest. It should now be counting down until December 21st at 6pm EST. We collaborated well with smart minds in our slack channel ( http://Belacoin.herokuapp.com), and were able to fix the error. Special thanks goes out to @Jardi for helping us fix the coding error and to @alexpimania, @al_wayslate, and @vibahu for testing it each time we changed the code. It appears that there is an error on http://Belacoin.org/invest where the countdown timer shows different numbers based on the user's location. We have notified Crypto Designers of this error and have been in close contact with them about fixing it. As always, it is sad to see so many other cryptocurrencies delisted from Poloniex. However, we are very happy to announce that Belacoin is not being delisted!We have a very bright future for the coin, and it's been a great month so far. We had an awesome Thunderclap campaign (even if we didn't reach our goal of 250 supporters, we still learned a lot), we hit our 200th member in the slack ( http://Belacoin.herokuapp.com), we released working Windows and Mac wallets this month (that's more than some cryptocurrencies can say!), and we've had some wild trading volume this past week that has put us ahead of top-10 cryptocurrencies. Look for the Belacoin Invest Initiative to release in less than three days at Belacoin.org/invest. It's a great initiative, and we can't wait to reveal it. |

As we've stated before, Belacoin is our first and only cryptocurrency investment. We spent about 6 weeks designing our site before we released it to the public, and we used many placeholder images. At the time, 1 Credit was undergoing some development that seemed to show promise, and our mission is to invest in and guide similar up-and-coming cryptocurrencies. At the same time, Gridcoin was used as a placeholder "investment" as well, but we bear no relation to Gridcoin. When designing the site, this section below had three entries of fake investments for placeholder purposes only. This was so that we could see what the site would look like once we made real investments. The three cryptocurrencies were Bellacoin, 1 Credit, and Gridcoin.  We used the old Belacoin logo as well, which is why you might find that in our index of files. The placeholder investments were removed from the homepage before we unveiled our website, although the remnants of them still remain (as you found). It should be noted that we did not ask for permission to use the logos of 1 Credit, Gridcoin, or Bellacoin as our placeholder investments. We believed that we did not need permission since the only people who were aware of the Ambia Fund at the time was our team and the web designers. We never intended for anyone to find those placeholder fake investments and believe that we helping lead those two cryptocurrencies. We respect each project and have now removed their logos from our index to not cause further confusion. We would like to extend apologies to the 1 Credit and Gridcoin teams for using their logos without their consent. Moving forward, it was quite a coincidence that we actually ended up working with Belacoin. We did not have much real interest in Belacoin until early November, but it's worked out great since then! |

We believe that it would be inaccurate to say that the market for Belacam would be smaller than Steemit. Steemit is often compared to Reddit, and Belacam is similar to Instagram. Reddit (valuation $4 billion) is approximately 10.8% the size of Instagram (valuation $37 billion). We are taking the basic idea of Steemit and applying it to a market that is 9.25 times larger. Consider that we are shooting for the moon with our valuations, and we hope that if we miss the target, we still land somewhere among the stars with a valuation in the tens of millions of dollars. We're putting in the work that would be necessary to reach such a target. To make Belacoin more valuable, it is clear that it needs more uses. We are attracting independent entrepreneurs to use Belacoin as their blockchain of choice when building their small business. This is being accomplished through the Belacoin Invest Initiative (BII) that we will fully reveal on December 22nd: http://Belacoin.org/invest. Belacoin is not stock in Belacam; we've fully detailed this in earlier posts on this thread, but Belacam is a private and independent organization from Belacoin. In the same way that Bitcoin is not stock in Coinbase but rather Coinbase enables Bitcoin, so does Belacam to Belacoin. Also, as explained in previous posts, the way that we aim to make money is through a successful exit from Belacam. If we build up Belacam well, we can make money by selling Belacam to other investors or entrepreneurs. Similarly, an IPO is a distant but not discountable possibility. Likewise, Belacam could be bought through an acquisition from some large tech player like Facebook or Google. Acquisitions are a common way for founders to receive their exit paycheck, and the project continues on with nearly unlimited funding and even better talent. If Belacam gets acquired by a top 100 firm, it is likely that their expertise and work would play a significant role in preventing Belacoin from falling into a dying, declining phase. The value of Belacam is of course linked to the value of Belacoin, to an extent. The Steemit founders would likely have been able to sell Steemit for a lot more when the Steem market cap was at its peak rather than now. If we ever act in a way that tears Belacoin down, Belacam gets torn down with it. This would be extremely irrational since a successful acquisition of Belacam could easily net millions of dollars for the Ambia Fund. We draw from our own experience in venture capital and entrepreneurship to know what it takes for a business to receive VC funding and reach an exit opportunity. |

What is your long-term target for the price of belacoin? You can't just say "to the moon" or give massive values to the coins if a single like is equivalent to one belacoin. How much does each of these likes really matter or should they be valued at? I'm having a hard time understanding how the consistency (or lack thereof) between the products might be managed in a larger ecosystem.
Predicting the price is more difficult than predicting something like the market cap. The market cap helps us get an overall measurement on the total value of Belacoin, and by looking at the success of Steem (Belacoin's competitor once we roll out Belacam), we can make assumptions and predictions a little better. They make the assumption that Belacam will be received in a similar manner to Steemit. The current price is .00001850 and the current market cap is $415,0001) Steemit’s market cap increased 158x over 4 months. If Belacoin followed the same increase ratio, we would see a market cap above $20 million. Price: .00090000 or higher2) Steemit had 13,700 active users and a peak market cap of $412 million. Steem was valued at $30,073 per active user. If Belacam gets 10,000 active users and follows the same price per active user, we reach a $300 million market cap. Price: .0135000We recognize that these financial projections are quite lofty and would require excellent execution to reach. There is no doubt that we have done an excellent job in bringing new progress, ideas, and minds to Belacoin, and we will continue to innovate in the same way in to the future. What does bring us hope, however, is that even Belacoin does not exactly follow these financial projections, they do show Belacoin has a long way to go up. |
