Bitcoin and Ethereum are open sourced they made them open source so people can look for bugs and contribute on how to improve the source code, but in doing so they allow developers to create a copycat coin and token and create them for their own organization or company or the industry that they are working with. It's not really bad to copy a code and create your token as long as you add some improvement on what you copied and your project has a purpose and will contribute to the betterment of the industry. |

Technology is what defines a project without it there is no project to promote, here in the Cryptocurrency market a project live and die based on its usage and it's easy to promote a project with good technology behind it and if a project is good it will promote itself, there are projects that are pump and dump coins but well-promoted but ends up investors losing their money because there is no technology behind it and people will leave it. |
