301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become the reserve currency of the world? on: October 23, 2018, 06:14:15 AM
Bitcoin will definitely be a store of value for the future. I can see it being used as a Gold-like type of investment for individuals and possibly countries like China. The good thing is people can already trade their Bitcoins to Gold and vice-versa on places like Vaultoro.

As for reserve currency, I don't think it has the potential to serve as money for most people around the world. Other types of cryptocurrencies will likely have to enter the fold and serve as crypto-paper money.
302  Other / Beginners & Help / Where do you go to buy bitcoins? on: October 18, 2018, 04:20:30 AM
We all know of the importance of having cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, however it is not always clear where they come from. Here in America, my friends and I use Coinbase to purchase and sell Bitcoins, Litecoins, Ethereum, etc. We can also use Coinbase as a wallet and it accepts bank transfers as well.

I have a few friends that use LocalBitcoins to meet up with locals in Los Angeles. I think this is inefficient since it can be time-consuming, however, there are some good deals and you can trust most of the sellers. I've also heard good things about platforms such as Kraken and Changelly.

In an effort to help the community, where do you personally go to purchase Bitcoins?
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your investment strategy? on: October 05, 2018, 05:40:23 AM
Overall, my best Investment strategy for Bitcoin is to buy a large amount of them at a low price and hold them for the long term. I would probably choose a select few of them to add into my portfolio so I can maximize the potential of the blockchain. Investing in Blockchain applications such as cryptocurrency could yield great dividends as new methods of spending and buying appear within the economy.
304  Economy / Economics / Re: Where should we focus this year? on: September 29, 2018, 07:46:57 AM
If it sounds great, it's good marketing.

Honestly, it's just a safer way to create a publicly available database of sorts. It's mostly used as currency because each unit is immutable.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Kardashian promoting Bitcoin on instagram. During Poker Game. on: September 29, 2018, 07:39:42 AM
Hopefully, this buys Kanye West more Aziz Ansari concert tickets.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a Digital Gold?? on: September 29, 2018, 07:38:40 AM
Bitcoin is considered by many to be "Digital" Gold, in the sense that there is a limited amount in existence. The cool thing about Bitcoin is that it can be sent anonymously across the world within seconds. Gold, on the other hand, is usually stored in vaults or used in jewelry, art, and other artifacts.

Did you know that you can actually buy gold with bitcoin? Check out this guide for more information.

I would probably just invest in both. After all, it is called Gold so it will have value in just about any scenario.
307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think happened with Satoshi Nakamoto? on: September 29, 2018, 07:30:11 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto is most likely someone from the CIA or FBI. I think he's probably a programmer who just wanted to share the technology of Blockchain, and hence Bitcoin, anonymously because it is, in effect, just money.
308  Economy / Speculation / Re: I never held this much bitcoins. on: September 29, 2018, 07:25:26 AM
Welcome to BitcoinTalk! I've got bags of Bitcoin, but honestly I like my Litecoin.
309  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver? on: September 28, 2018, 03:51:48 AM
Old people are peculiar creatures. They are old-fashioned so they are used to doing things their own way, in the way they are used to when they were younger. Not only have the laws changed, but society has upgraded as well. We have new leaders in charge and plenty of new technology.

Retired people especially are looking for ways to protect their investments and secure their future for generations. In order to do this old folk invest into Gold and Silver IRA's because they know it is a low-risk asset. They were probably around before Nixon took the dollar off of the Bretton Woods, if not before the great depression when it was based fully on the Gold Standard.

Also, gold and silver can be traded in person. There is a lot of sentimental value that can be brought out from certain pieces, especially jewelry and art. Overall, Gold and Silver are extremely low-risk and your value can be retained in a different way from the rest of your money.

Last but not least, old people can get into Bitcoin pretty easily nowadays. In fact, they can just trade in their Gold for Bitcoins on places like Vaultoro.

If you've ever wondered how the Bitcoin stock market works, we have published a guide that introduces the subject for you. Not only does the Bitcoin stock market work similar to Gold and the traditional stock market, but also it is a great starting cryptocurrency if you are getting started with the Blockchain.

311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market is down. on: September 28, 2018, 03:31:18 AM
It seems to be sort of down, but I think we've probably hit the local minimum at least a few times. Maybe this upcoming Christmas bull rush will incentivize more people to include cryptocurrency in their holiday stockings.  Grin
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: Tether Has No Real Impact on Bitcoin price on: September 23, 2018, 09:44:13 PM
I'm fairly certain that Tether is tied to the USD which is tied to a host of other factors such as the interest rate, price of gold, housing market, stock market, inflation, etc
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin safer than banking? on: September 17, 2018, 03:02:43 AM
Bitcoin is safer than the banks in a lot of ways and you can also carry around your own personal bank i.e Coinbase app.

While we may not see friendly faces personally behind a teller desk for cryptocurrency for a while, it is still convenient in the sense that one can perform personal accounting within the wallet that they use whether it is a hardware wallet, iOS or Andoid wallet, web wallet or cold wallet, it is extremely simple to calculate how many BTC's you have on hand.

The blockchain will make banking simpler and safer for all citizens around the world. People can decide which cryptocurrencies they want to carry, which are supported by different organizations, groups and companies. Overall, I would keep cryptocurrency around as a form of banking, and also as a backup savings account/investment vehicle.

There are few companies disrupting the industry of Point of Sale (POS) systems. Square Inc. is at the helm of it and is monopolizing the art of cash registers by incorporating Internet of Things and also cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Other companies providing software and/or hardware in the growing industry of IoT connected Point Of Sale Systems include:
  • Square, Inc
  • PayPal
  • Vend
  • Stripe

For those wondering about real estate and how people in places such as Arcadia, California and Dubai, United Arab Emirates have already purchased homes with Bitcoin, check out this quick introductory guide:

https://www.smartbitcoininvestments.com/bitcoin-real-estate-what-to-know/

With the evolution of the blockchain it is clear that financial and property data is headed to the more secure and transparent medium. Real estate agents and investors will have an easier time tracking their sales and investments, along with the financial data associated with it. Buyers on the other hand, will see a transparent view of the title deed, previous owners, damages, etc.

Overall, being able to own or sell a home on the Blockchain will be a benefactor for those who choose to do it.

LocalBitcoins

318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early BTC adopters still hodling? on: July 26, 2018, 09:30:03 PM
It's a lot faster thanks to SegWit and SegWit2x coming soon, not to mention the Lightning Network. There have been spikes where a large number of people are sending Bitcoins at one time where transactions may be slow, but it doesn't seem like it will be a major problem over the coming years. Just keep holding because it will probably be used as a store of value rather than cash.
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: I DON'T CARE IF BTC DECREASES IN PRICE NOW on: July 26, 2018, 04:58:55 AM
The best time to invest this year was earlier in the summer. If history is any indication the price of Bitcoin will only rise from here on out due to more demand and the scarcity of Bitcoins themselves (21 million in existence).
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Costa Rica, Workers to Paid in cryptocurrency! on: July 23, 2018, 03:43:11 AM
It will be a good thing as long as the cryptocurrency grows. Depending on what it is and what it will be used for the cryptocurrency may have no use. On the other hand, if they are getting paid in something like Ethereum or Ripple then there will be immense value in having and transacting with it.
