3001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will Casino Investors Become Worthless Someday? on: August 16, 2017, 03:54:04 PM
I have no idea why they opt to get investors through an ICO instead of just opining their website to investors, like Crypto-Games does, for example.
Seems like an ICO is a good way to get a lot of bankroll with minimal investment on the owners part, which makes it a lot riskier.

I'd personally stick with just investing in proven casino's, much safer imo.
3002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever regretted not gambling? on: August 16, 2017, 09:12:18 AM
Yeah, I've definitely regretted not betting on some football matches in the past.
Most recently, I didn't bet on the friendly match between Belgium and Czech Republic.

I would normally have bet around 0.1 BTC on that match for Belgium to win and the first goal being made in the first half of the game by Belgium.
3003  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★Crypto-Games.net ★ 9 coins ★ 7 games ★ Since 2014 ★ Largest Crowdfunded Casino on: August 16, 2017, 08:29:32 AM
Big fan of your faucet.  Do you plan on having an ICO at any point?
Why would they even need an ICO? I mean, it's already possible to just invest directly into their casino and it doesn't seem like they'd need any more investments.

I've also got a question myself, I've noticed that you've added a couple of hours to the lottery, is that common?
And I can't buy more tickets? Tongue
3004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why altcoins are crashing again ? on: August 14, 2017, 08:24:16 PM
They're not actually crashing right now, you have to check their prices in fiat, not in Bitcoin.
Bitcoin's current growth is exceeding the growth of altcoins right now.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Bitcoin and that's also overshadowing altcoins lesser gains.
3005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase the Bitcoin Dumpster on: August 14, 2017, 08:13:10 PM
Coinbase is one of the huge exchange sites right now in the market and they are supporting a million people. that would be their flaws i guess they would only support which for them they can benefit a lot jsut sayin tho
They may be one of the biggest, but that's not an excuse to lock customers funds or not answer support tickets.
I've heard multiple stories of people's accounts being locked or people not receiving funds.

There are enough other exchanges with far better reputations than Coinbase.
3006  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★Crypto-Games.net ★ 9 coins ★ 7 games ★ Since 2014 ★ Largest Crowdfunded Casino on: August 14, 2017, 03:50:24 PM
I really hope I'll win something in the next lottery, I've at least got decent chances this time with 110 tickets.
As long as NakedHiker doesn't beat me... He seems to be out-buying me every time I buy more tickets Tongue
3007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Who's actually still selling this? It will be $5,000 - $8,000 in no time on: August 14, 2017, 03:46:59 PM
There's still a good chance that the prices will go down in a few weeks or so and people may just need the money they have invested in Bitcoin back
I'm not selling at this point, but if I see another small down trend, I might sell a portion and buy some back when the prices go up again.
3008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HBO is trying to get $250,000 in bitcoin to pay hackers who stole GoT scripts on: August 13, 2017, 12:43:30 AM

Hackers who stole data from HBO have leaked an email from a company executive showing negotiations over a ransom.
The HBO executive said the company would pay $250,000 in bitcoin as a "bug bounty payment."
Scripts from shows such as "Game of Thrones" were stolen last month.

Read the full article here:
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/11/hbo-hack-game-of-thrones-ransom.html

I can't believe that they're actually willing to pay 250K in Bitcoin just to prevent the scripts from being released.
Even if the scripts were released, I doubt they would lose any fans over it. It's not like that many people would even read it.

Still sad that Bitcoin is being associated with crime again.

Agree - people want to view the drama, not read scripts.

I wonder if the hackers stole other stuff besides the scripts? If so, that might be why they are paying up.

Unless of course, the TV show is ahead of the actual books (which people read), then people will want to read the scripts. In that case, HBO might be trying to avoid a lawsuit with Mr. Martin. I'
m not 100% on the details of their agreement.
Well indeed, the tv-show is ahead of the books at this point, but the books have been ahead of the tv-show for a much longer time.
People just don't read as much anymore, it's a very select group of people who would choose to read instead of just watching the series.

Those books have always been massive spoilers for the tv-show, but it doesn't deter people from watching.

Granted, an actual script is different from a book, but I seriously doubt that the release of the scripts would cause them to lose any fans/viewers, just my 2 cents.
3009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HBO is trying to get $250,000 in bitcoin to pay hackers who stole GoT scripts on: August 11, 2017, 09:54:21 PM
Why would they pay now, it doesn't make any sense. This is a huge amount of money and epoisodes of many series including Game of Thrones have leaked out so the damage is already done. If they pay they support criminal activities and that puts bad light on bitcoin (again) so they shouldn't do that.
I don't think that them paying the ransom would put an additional bad light on Bitcoin.
It's criminals asking for Bitcoin payments that puts a bad light on Bitcoin, the damage has already been done.

I actually wonder why they keep asking for Bitcoin payments, they could just ask for a more anonymous coin instead, maybe Monero or Dash?
Not that I'm actually supportive of these criminal acts ofc.
3010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HBO is trying to get $250,000 in bitcoin to pay hackers who stole GoT scripts on: August 11, 2017, 06:04:35 PM
There is no crime here, are you an idiot? they had security bugs and problems, not only scripts but last week episode 4 of season 7 of Game of thrones

Were leaked before even airing on HBO channel. hackers managed to download a few episodes I think and even if scripts are compromised only thing would

Be a few hundred millions loss for HBO. they should be thanking them for not releasing the scripts and just want $250,000 that's nothing compared to the

Money HBO is earning by broadcasting the series. they could also request cash in a bag to be delivered in some public place, Bitcoin transactions being on

The open makes it even more traceable than cash.
Okay, so I'm an idiot for merely posting this article and stating my opinion about it, thanks I guess.

So you're saying that it's totally fine that they actually stole all of their intellectual property and blackmail them for it?

Nothing wrong with pointing out flaws in their security, but once you start stealing and blackmailing, it's a crime and not even remotely ethical.
But hey, that's just one idiot's opinion...
3011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Is Your Bitcoin Dream? on: August 11, 2017, 02:51:53 PM
I want to set up a Bitcoin ATM in my local town in the hopefully near future.
I'm now saving up to make the investment and also looking for a few partners to help me do so.

It's something I'll be funding all by myself, but need some partners to get ahold of a location.
3012  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Accept bitcoins, no fees, all countries on: August 11, 2017, 02:27:46 PM
I'm sorry, I laughed out loud when I read the name of that website  Grin
Who on earth would come up with a name like that?

Do you even want people to take your service seriously?

I hope the mods don't remove your topic and it stays here, just as an example of how stupid some people can be when thinking of a name for their service.
3013  Economy / Economics / Re: Which country are you from? Here list THIRTY popular bitcoin countries for trade on: August 11, 2017, 02:03:53 PM
I'm from Belgium, and I see that my country is on the 27th place, which doesn't surprise me.
We do have a lot of options when it comes to paying with Bitcoin for local online services and goods, but there aren't too many places where you can spend Bitcoin, like restaurants etc.

3015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I've been banned from every decent UK bookmaker - Where next? on: August 11, 2017, 12:32:42 PM
I don't think you can get banned from playing if you just winning legitimately. Likely OP has been doing something bad that would result in his bans.
I am not sure why he mentioned trading, I think it is no where near sports gambling or even gambling in general.
It is possible to get banned if you win too much. Bookmakers can ban at their own will and they're not obliged to offer anyone their services.
Casino's do it too, for example, card counting is not illegal under federal law, but casino's regularly ban people for it.

Trading is pretty similar to some +EV gambling games.
3016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Uber on: August 11, 2017, 12:25:25 PM
Isn't this just an initiative from the driver himself, I haven't seen this in other UBER cars?
Or is it actually UBER who came up with this?

If it's just this driver who set this up, I would expect Uber to integrate Bitcoin payments any time soon.
3017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After fork happenings for you on: August 10, 2017, 04:25:48 PM
I obviously gained a few extra Bitcoins, since I sold all of my BCC after the fork had happened.
Otherwise, I don't think Bitcoin Cash really had an effect on the Bitcoin price, but I could be wrong about that one.

I don't know about any other effects Bitcoin cash could have given me.
3018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Casinos on: August 10, 2017, 03:57:11 PM
With the recent emergence of Bitcoin Cash due to Bitcoin Scaling, some bitcoin casinos, such as mBit, Bitcoincasino.us and Oshi.io, have already emailed their players that they implemented the policy of not accepting Bitcoin Cash. Any thoughts?

The Bitcoin Cash is way too unstable for anyone to accept as payment right now.  Maybe in the future if it fends off all of the attacks being done on it right now.
That hasn't prevented quite a few popular exchanges from offering it though. I mean Kraken and Bittrex aren't exactly small exchanges.
I'm sure that in the near future a couple of casino's will start accepting Bitcoin cash. The price is getting a little bit more stable now.
3019  Economy / Economics / Re: Pros and cons of bitcoins for consumers and businessmen on: August 10, 2017, 02:53:47 PM
Pros:
- Fast ( trasacation which worth more than $1000
- Anonymity and secure
- Information will not be leaked

Cons:
- Slow ( transaction which less than $1000)
- Depend on mining fees and miners to confirm
- Not popular to many people

I don't think Bitcoin is slow at all. Confirmation is pretty fast unless the network is being spammed, the fees are also really cheap unless Roger Ver and Jihan are spamming it.

If you want you can take 0 confirmation transactions, that would be faster, but less secure. Credit cards take 180 days to confirm and no one even knows it.

Confirmations aren't always that fast you know. I've seen it happen on more than one occasion that it took miners more than half an hour to find a block.
If the next block also takes +15 minutes, then you're waiting almost an hour to get 2 confirmations.

Just go check the latest block that were mined and you'll see for yourself that some blocks have 30 minutes in between them.

I just noticed there was 0.0002 BTC in my account so I checked my reward history and saw that 0.0002 BTC was added with description 'DailyLotto'.
What is that? I've checked the FAQ, but I'm sure I've missed something since there isn't a search function or a way to expand every topic so I can use ctrl+F.
