3002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to gambling with money. on: July 18, 2022, 10:03:51 AM
This really was an interesting thread because of the subject matter but after trolls and signature spammers started doing what they do, the thread has somewhat derailed. Gambling with fake money as an alternative to help those with gambling addictions defeats the object of trying to rehabilitate those in trouble.

I am not an addicted gambler or better have been in the past but luckily have learned that self control and I quit whenever I like no matter the case winning or losing. However from personal experience what is happening with a colleague of mine,he is using a website to play all the demos of all the slots available and by doing so it has been a couple of weeks he has not played with real money.I am not saying that alternative or playing with demo money will make him forget about gambling with real money but it can help especially when paired with other things that we all know like the professional help and talking to friend and families.

I too think that playing with some "fake money" in an app and playing in demo mode on slots are very similar things, only playing slots in demo mode is much more enjoyable because contemporary slots are very professionally designed to provide entertainment, and I bet no "Fake money gambling app" can give you a similar experience.

As of sports betting apps, idk, can it be interesting at all?
3003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People are not only gambling to win but they are buying entertainment on: July 18, 2022, 09:19:38 AM
I can agree with you here. Because there are some occasional players who just wanted to have fun.
Just like those people who are visiting casinos for experience, they don't want to earn but more on gaining some experience or memories.
But of course, if they will win. That's a bonus already for them. But I can understand, if they are regular gamblers,
most of them are really for the possible winnings that they can get. However, hard to chase winnings in gambling.

If they win, those occasional gamblers will be turned into regular gamblers.

No, they won't, if by "regular gamblers" you mean gambling addicts. Most of them, anyway. Gambling would be forbidden everywhere if it were so harmful. Check out the stats to see that what you are saying is not true. Only 5% of gamblers, max, have some gambling issues. Do you think those 95% who don't, never win?

You already said it, there are occasional gamblers that is just wanted to have fun, and the moment they won big, that's already a big fun and they will surely want to experience that feeling many times. Because of that, they will keep on visiting the casinos. ~

So what? If you enjoy something, you want to try it again and then again. There's nothing wrong with that, with the want. We just have to remember that doing all the time what we want turns us into pigs. Just stay human, that's all.
3004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most of us have lived a world of USD dominance, but history changes on: July 18, 2022, 08:43:03 AM

The change have taken place with time. Just from the barter system to the evolution of the cryptocurrency. This has happened through a long process of one system overcoming the dominance of the other. In such a way things have taken place. During those days people were looking for the best, and the centralized system have ruined it. Finally it arrived same as the barter system where there is no need of the middle man in a digitized way.

That's a great picture, imo, because it's informative and simple at the same time.

I just want to add one thing, to clarify for those saying: "Gold is the best form of money" or "World will never get rid of fiat". You know, no one is saying the contrary. Yes, gold is still good as money, and, yes, fiat will always be here. Even barter will not disappear in the future. This picture shows the dominant payment system, not the only one. It important to understand it.
3005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can You See Or Tell If A Fight Or Event Is Fix ? on: July 18, 2022, 08:12:39 AM
It could be on basketball, boxing or horse racing, or any kind of sport, after being in a particular sport for many years can you see or tell if a fight or event is fixed, there are upsets but in the back of our mind, there's a possibility that the match or game is fixed.

From my experience, in most cases, gamblers think that event is fixed, while it's actually not. All the signs point to the conclusion that it was fixed when you lost your bet. That's how our brain works.

But, of course, there are fixed events still. I say "still' because there were much more of them in the past, and, surely, there will be much less of them in the future.

Unless you know from some inside info that event was fixed, you can't tell, imo.
3006  Economy / Gambling / Re: KYC casino or no-KYC casino, but with no bonuses/no cashback? on: July 15, 2022, 10:01:53 AM
Snip
Well perhaps the same on Roobet.
I was there from the first launching on their website and join the signature campaign, they did not require KYC before but after they gained forum users' trust they changed -- and they required users to have KYC and pass documents proof. I think their strategy was right, from no KYC to becoming a KYC casino but first build your trust and reputation first before people trust your company.
Perhaps there is no wrong with KYC if we trust the gambling casino and already built their reputation --but on the new one, never.
Any casino have to become trusted and i think that they don`t need any KYC first time. But if they begin to use KYC later - it can become a problem - some gamblers can feel cheated and leave such casino.
~

I just want to say a word in defense of Roobet here. Smiley I'm sure it wasn't like, "Let's make them register and then ask for KYC later". The site itself doesn't need your personal data, and they would never ask for it themselves. But if at some point the authorities force them to gather KYC data from their users, being a licensed casino they simply have no choice.
3007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gets more attention on: July 15, 2022, 09:21:29 AM
Bitcoin has always had the potential and it gains more attention as it was been influenced by social media, we can't simply ignore it perhaps, the growing adoption could tell that many people are willing to invest and even use it in their daily life. I know, some people are just quietly investing Bitcoin this time taking the opportunity of its current price. We can't deny the fact that Bitcoin is a great crypto asset and looking back on last year's performance will encourage people to invest.

I agree, I think researching the history of Bitcoin is more important than reading articles by various "experts" regarding the current situation. None of them can know for sure what's going to happen. All they write is speculation.

To be closer to reality, make your own conclusions from your own research.
3008  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you know how to trust online sportsbooks? on: July 15, 2022, 08:53:58 AM
~
I fully understand your point of view and support it.
In the same way of using bitcointalk forum to inquire about the reliability of a particular casino, we can also inquire about trusted rating sites. I did a quick search for reviews of some of the sites listing gambling platforms and casinos on the Bitcointalk forum and couldn't find anything significant.
This is a good idea for a topic. I will post later here in this section and maybe it will be reference for others as well .

You mean you want to gather all good-quality reviews written here on bitcointalk in one place? That's a great idea, actually. It would be nice to have such thread on the forum. Also, I think people would be adding the reviews you missed, and discussing the reviews you posted. As I said, great idea, mate.

~
I think mostly they post dubious sites for referral links. I do not think that such reviewers are often paid for "job". We can see paid reviews on major review sites, but their review mostly shows small problems to increase the credibility of the reviewer and the casino. It's better to look here for what the players are saying.

Yes, exactly. The players, the real users of the site, not people who just received money for writing a review. A review like that can hardly be objective.

Thank you! I'll use this life hack when it's time for poker! [I have bookmarked your post]Tongue

You are welcome, mate! I hope you'll have time for poker soon and will meet at the tables.

~ i wonder how many of you putting a +1 for Betnomi have really made a profit with this bookmaker, and i am not talking about winning money in poker room, these money you take from other users so basically they don't care. I mean how many of you have a positive medium-long term balance with Betnomi SPORTSBOOK? Trust me, none of you have. They just don't allow it to happen. That's said i posted my experience, now everyone is free to do what he likes.

It's just your experience, man, and thinking that everyone has the same is ridiculous. I specifically checked the odds on Betnomi and some other sportbooks and they are even better on Betnomi in some cases.

For example, try to find better odds for this event

^^those are from Betnomi. So, at least someone must be in profit from playing on Betnomi, don't you think?

[$3,000] Stake's Favorite Series: Lost|Scarab Spin
Got no luck with this slot game, same the last time with Blue Samurai. I spent more than 650 bets, and I only got 20X+ highest multiplier for today's first session. Got some losses, fortunately, I recovered with Limbo.

Looking forward to the next challenge... Tome of Life?

I'm sorry you had such an unlucky session. Getting only one 20x within 650 bets is really rare on Scarab Spin.

Today I made only 10 bets or so and got this

But then I remembered this

and stopped playing. I think I better verify my account first. I checked Blacklisted Territories here https://stake.com/policies/providers , and my country is not blacklisted, so I hope the verification will be successful.

Speaking of PCs made me think about mobile, and then messaging apps as I was checking Bitcasino's channel. Is Telegram predominant in our community or does WhatsApp win here too, as reflected in global numbers? I personally think Telegram is way more enjoyable to use. What's your call on this?
~

My vote goes for Telegram. Smiley I don't use WhatsApp, but in Telegram I follow Bitcasino's channel, and there's always something interesting happening there. Like this recent post, for instance

And it's not just a nice picture. All of these can actually be yours. Smiley Check Bitcasino.io 💜 for details.

3013  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: July 14, 2022, 07:45:58 AM
I generally gamble casually state regulated websites. Rates are definitely terrible and winning is not that good economy or moneywise. Although it is nice pleasure to bet on some teams and win later on. I grew up watching professional gambling (mainly poker I think) on Eurosport TV channel. I always thought atmosphere in those places are really cool. So if I had millions of dollars I could become pro gambler just for a pleasure, or a hobby.

You don't have to be a millionaire for that.  Smiley There are poker tournaments with $0.5 buy-in. You pay that amount, and you are playing with real people from around the world. You can even chat with them through a chat box. And you never know who you really are at the table with. It can be ElkY or Tom Dwan, or someone yet unknown, but a big star in the future. And if your goal is to be on the telly, just fight your way through, and you will be there.
3014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Threshold of Loss in Gambling on: July 14, 2022, 07:16:33 AM
Gambling is fun. And it doesn't matter whether you go to a land-based casino to bet or an online casino. When we bet, we celebrate our wins and count our losses. According to this study, the researchers found that gamblers are satisfied with small wins and will tolerate small losses but when they hit the threshold of loss, they will not play anymore.  I will attempt to define threshold of loss as regards gambling as the minimum intensity at which a gambler can no longer tolerate a loss.

My question is, can you remember a time when you reached your threshold of loss while gambling?

I can't remember because it happened multiple times, I'd say, more than a hundred times. I have a daily limit which is different depending on how much I earn at the time, and when the limit is exceeded I usually stop. It can be a daily limit, or a session limit, and sometimes, although rare, it's a weekly limit that is exceeded in one day. Yeah, that's actually bad, I know. That means I exceed several times my daily limit. Nothing to be proud of, really. But what I am proud of is I don't play for a week after that. I don't try to recover my looses so that I could play again tomorrow. No. I just stop, and forget about gambling for a week.

3016  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: July 13, 2022, 11:34:40 AM
I agree, having minors is something you have to accept when you are building an online business, no matter what kind of business it is, minors will always have a way to get in. I remember myself at 18 and under and I was going around in darknet let alone lie about my age, and I have seen things there I will never forget and never got in there ever again in my life, and never will again. ToR browser is done for me, and will never install it on my computer in my entire life. Some things scar you for life, gambling is not one of them. If you are a kid, you shouldn't gamble, but Roobet can't stop them even if they tried, impossible, even with KYC.

Idk. Why do you think so? Imo, it's almost impossible for an underage person to pass KYC. If their parents, or older members of the family, are not helping them in the process of cheating(and why would they, in the first place?), how can they successfully pass it? Well, maybe there are some "geniuses", but for most people it would be really hard to do.

It's only a few hours left, so hurry up, guys, with submitting your results. There's a lot of paid places, eight, in this event. And the prizes are good, from $35 to $300. And you never know what multipliers people will end up sending. I remember someone winning with just 40x, or something, but, of course, I wish you to hit something above 5,000x and grab one of the top prizes from these ones

Good Luck! Smiley

That's what I would like to know too. Couldn't find the info anywhere.
Yes, I know that theoretically you can get 120 WOF spins per day without wagering anything, just with using this feature

And that would be 37.5 RP per spin, even cheaper than 50, right? But I say "theoretically" because who can do it 24 times per day? I personally can manage 15 per day max, and it's in rare cases. Normally it's 10 per day or less than that. And if it's 10, it means 50 WOF spins for 4,500 RP, or, 90 RP for 1 WOF ticket. I mean, I'd rather pay 50, right? Smiley

Initially, this 5 WOF spins/roll bonus for 4500 RP is not available to everyone. If users want to be able to redeem it, then they have to wager anyway. In addition, this bonus is not particularly profitable because prizes with 5k sats/RP drop extremely rarely from the wheel of fortune. It means you will likely win far less RP compared to how much you spend on this bonus.

I didn't know bout that. It's available for me now, so that means I've wagered enough, but the question still remains, how much? It's not like it's a question of life or death Smiley , I'm just curious, and I will be totally OK if it's not possible to find out on the site.

3020  Economy / Economics / Re: The BTC price must stabilize in the long run. on: July 13, 2022, 09:24:10 AM
And when btc finally stabilizes people will then wishes it to fluctuate because how can they be able to buy cheap and how can they be able to earn massively? That's always their mentality so better if we will just ignore them.

We don't need them here and even if most of them are gone, there's still a lot of btc supporters out there and there will always be new people that will enter on this space. Solana and other top alts aren't the one that gave btc a bad name but it was those scam coins. It's also the fault of those who invest on them. Once those people get scammed, this will then create a headline and those who don't have a knowledge in crypto will think that all here are scam including the btc.
True, but we can't avoid situations like that. Scammers, they will always be there, associated with a project no matter how good the project itself is. But, of course, scamming people is a bad thing, while trading is not. There's nothing wrong with buying low and selling high. So, I personally don't mind volatility much. Our world is volatile, and Bitcoin is a part of it.
Scamming is such an "easy" way of making money for some people. All you have to do is work hard to convince people to believe in you, and you can make a bulk amount of money together.

I don't think it's easy, tbh. Actually, far from it. We have a lot of scammers around because the world is big, and with the invention of the Internet it has become bigger, thousands times bigger than before. And not only because the world population is growing, but mainly because now you can be sitting at your home in Belgium and be scammed by someone from Nigeria, and vice versa. Very few people are capable of convicing others in something. Sadly, many of them use their gift for evil.

But I was saying to @barbara44 here that there's nothing wrong with buying low and selling high. It's not scamming, and it's not a bad thing at all. It's called trading. And traders are not enemies of the Bitcoin community. They are part of it.
