3001  Economy / Economics / Re: Over the Past 300 Years, No Fiat Money Has Escaped Going to 0 on: March 23, 2021, 11:29:22 AM
Some are afraid that we will return to zero, and every year we move away from it. Over the Past 300 Years, No Fiat Money Has Escaped Going to 0
Listen https://podclips.com/c/maVy2k?ss=r&ss2=bitcoin&d=2021-03-22

Fiat money can only go to zero if the government fails. We have seen few examples already like Zimbabwe or Somalia or Venezuela. These fiats have nearly went close to zero so they had to adopt different mechanisms like crypto adoption or completely discard their own currencies and adopt a foreign currency. So fiat currency is not out of such risks.

But does that mean crypto can be an alternative? I see this not happening because cryptos are not controlled by any country. So no matter how bad the fiat system is, I don't see them adopting cryptos in any way!
3002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This is why i move to Binance Smart Chain on: March 23, 2021, 06:46:25 AM
True, the fee is unbearable but the devs said they gonna get it fixed around july but to be honest, ETH developers have the track record of delaying things so can't be so sure, it's just best to move over to BSC at this point, doesn't make sense at all. sending eth already takes that much fee not to mention erc-20 that requires more gas.

Well, they have a planned algorithm update from current POW to POS. I am not sure how did you get a timeline for this but I am not sure if it will happen in July to be honest! All I know is that they have it in pipeline, a trial run has started and many people have already locked their ETHs in the chain to mine, but public relase has been delayed.

Let's hope for the best that it happens early because ETH fees is just pain in the ass. Unfortunately, there is no quick solution!
3003  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: HSBC canada not allowing to buy any crypto related instrument on: March 22, 2021, 06:21:57 PM
Two years back, Canadian government officially allowed banks to deny services to any crypto related activities. So I don't think it's only HSBC, rather you will have similar experiences with any bank within Canada. Even though the government didn't ban cryptocurrency explicitly, but without banking services it's very difficult to convert your cryptos to cash.

https://www.canada.ca/en/financial-consumer-agency/services/payment/digital-currency.html

So try to find a p2p service provider who can settle your trade in cash. That might be a good idea if the amount is small!
3004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a scam: The long debated argument discussion by Bloomberg - Quicktake on: March 22, 2021, 03:56:16 PM
Well we always have two sides of a story, always! For bitcoin, it is either a believer or a non-believer! So there you have it! Non-believers like Jemie Dimon or Warren Buffet will always speak against bitcoin and believes like Elon Musk will always speak in support of bitcoin.

That argument will continue and non-believers will always find ways to bring bitcoin's reputation. The bitcoin market initially used to react to such comments and views but it's now long gone! So the argument will continue while the bitcoin will also continue to flourish!
3005  Economy / Economics / Re: OpenAI: Artificial Intelligence will generate wealth to pay each adult $13,500yr on: March 22, 2021, 09:49:26 AM
AI and automation will eventually bring dooms to our lives in next few years! It has the power to drastically change the job market because big corporations will stop hiring people for reparative tasks and instead make use of AI and automation. The neat result will force millions of people loose their jobs and income.

2% tax on such use of AI is not going to be enough to cover the earnings of the population lost their income due to such things. We surely don't want to see an world where robots will rule the job market and people will suffer from financial burdens. We need to be very cautious in implementing AI in our daily lives.
3006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best strategy on: March 19, 2021, 03:38:09 PM
Would like to know what is the best strategy when using the slots games. Or maybe some good number spreads on the dice game. Any and all advice or inputs are welcome. For I am new to the game in any advice is helpful thank you and good luck.

You will come across with lot of strategies in due course of time! Then in due course of time a realization will come that there is no strategy available to change your luck! If you really want to make money oit of gambling, try sports betting! Slots are for adrenaline rush, not to make money! But you will make money if you are lucky enough and not by any strategy! All the best!
3007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: he pays 5000 € for a bitcoin transfer on: March 19, 2021, 09:30:17 AM
That much fees is simply super expensive and not sustainable in the long run! I see the sender paid 107 Sat per byte fees which is less than the current fees required. As per the below calculator, the current required fees is 111 Sat per byte.

https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/fee-calculator/

So the sender paid less than required feès which is 11% of the total transaction value! What a joke! Same goes with ETH as well! There is a good reason why altcoins are moving fast upto the queue!
3008  Economy / Economics / Re: $69 Million Beeple Art Buyer Revealed as NFT on: March 18, 2021, 05:00:03 PM
I seriously don't understand the craze around NFTs! Do you really think a JPG file should be valued at this level? I mean how insane it can be to spend $69 million for a jpg file which doesn't exist physically! Can't really understand!

I don't think this would go on for long! It is like the early days of ICO and later IEO which has lost all its glory and moved to Defi now. I am sure NFT will end up like this only!
3009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Extremely Underrated 'Basic Attention Token' (BAT) | Finally All time high $1.37 on: March 18, 2021, 03:55:08 PM
BAT is underrated because it is quite easy to earn! You don't need specialized hardware to mine this but just a browser. The more you use that browser, the more you earn. So it's quite simple to earn. And it's a nature of the human to ingore things which doesn't require any effort to earn. So here it goes with the BAT as well.

However, personally I don't think BAT will have a super high value ever in the future because people won't buy any such token which is easy to earn. So it will remain as a speculative asset as it is now!
3010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Strategies best used to play plinko game on: March 18, 2021, 02:53:19 PM
While playing in an online casino regardless of the nature of the game, there should be only one strategy,

Never gamble with any such amount which you can't afford to loose!

I don't think there are any further strategies available for online games. Some may talk about Martingale strategy where you increase your bet amount at every loss. But that only works if your luck favors you! I don't think any further successful strategy is available.

Google it and you will see hundreds of articles about Plinko strategy. But once you read one or two, you will see there is no strategy available at all!
3011  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is Protecting Human Rights Around the World on: March 18, 2021, 01:13:03 PM
Lol! Webhave seen similar things happening during the mass protest in Hongkong. The protesters were converting their money into bitcoins so that Chinese military can't trick them from their bank account. But if bitcoin is only helping us in extremely wired situations like Military coup or mass protests, then it's definitely not sending a good signal to the governments around the world. Probably that will become another good reason for them to ban it.

But nonetheless, Bitcoin is definitely helping in capital appreciation for many people here. Who are becoming richer day by day while it stays extremely difficult for the common people to earn it.
3012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk!! A name behind another scam on: March 18, 2021, 11:03:16 AM
Well! Elon is not a scammer here! So update the thread tilte to clear any confusion. These are hackers who are making use of Elon's status in the crypto market. Since he has become a great support in bitcoin for the global audience, hackers are using the same in their favor.

I don't see this issue to resolve anytime soon, especially with the psuedo anonymity bitcoin provides by default. Hackers will find their way into scamming greedy people!
3013  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to Secure Your Assets on Exchange in the Event of Your Death? on: March 17, 2021, 06:23:10 PM
Lol! Another scam in the making! How do we ensure that you guys don't store the policy number that you generate? You need to have database to match with whenever the person inherited the policy enters that to your system!

I still prefer the old way! Get your will done and mark your private key into a legally sealed envelope and get in registered in the local court. That means, the envelope will be opened in presence of an attorney and by the person who is legally inheriting it. That's safer!
3014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Becoming a Store of Value on: March 17, 2021, 04:41:24 PM
I found a video of Mark Cuban explaining this: https://youtu.be/QEoBeIdwuRg

Do you think Ethereum has potential to become store of value? Why or why not?

If I leave all other aspects, considering the insane network fees, ETH is really becoming an investment asset (or store of value) rather than a currency. If it doesn't get resolved, ETH will have Similar fate as of bitcoin because bitcoin is now considered more as an investment rather than a currency.

Hopefully Vitalik will fast track the ETH 2.0 to resolve this matter shortly. Because people who transct regularly using ETH, will move to a different coin just to save this exorbitant fees!
3015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 55% of bitcoin circulating supply have not moved since 2018 on: March 17, 2021, 02:21:52 PM
Data have shown how more than half of bitcoin circulating supply have not been moved from their host wallet since the bitcoin deep of 2018, this have shown grreat length how die hard hodlers can go a long way down the road without moving they bitcoin from one wallet to another or to an exchange despite the current bitcoin market price.
At this moment those wallets have done 17× profits  and still the long term hodlers (LTH) are not given up on the race to becoming the steel hands bitcoin hoders.
Credit:
https://news.bitcoin.com/btcs-hands-of-steel-37-bitcoins-supply-hasnt-moved-2017-55-sat-idle-2018s-bottom/

I am not sure about the integrity of this data but if it is true, it shows that people are considering bitcoin purely as an invest rather than a currency. So I believe what Mr. Nakamoto dreamed about bitcoin, is failed miserably! Because people are indeed considering it as an investment only!

So there's nothing to feel proud about! Not a great progress in anything rather than price!
3016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a lone bettor or a competitive one? on: March 17, 2021, 12:35:27 PM
Do you prefer being on your own with your matches and bets or do you like to take part in various tournament to boost the competitive spirit of it all?

Competitive betting only increases the profitability of the casino and not for us! It's like dragging you to the adrenaline game and inspire you to spend more! So I don't indulge myself into any kind of competitive betting. Definitely the reward is higher for the competitive betting but the risk is super high. For a light pocket gambler like me, it's better to enjoy my own wins and forget my own losses.
3017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm wondering if miners will go away in the next few years ??? on: March 16, 2021, 05:18:13 PM
POW coins like Bitcoin / Litecoin / Monero will not disappear soon.

But it's always good to see POS alternatives like Ethereum / Nano / DIVI coin, etc... It helps environmentally conscious investors get in.

Insert: Change my mind Campus Sign lol

It's quite possible to be honest! The POW algorithm is power hungry and it is showing a steady increase in its hunger. So in few years, only very deep pocket people will be able to get into mining. Small miners are already out of the play for coins like bitcoin and ETH. So if this remains as it is, POW coins will soon become very centralized. So if you rrally want to participate in a decentralized environment, POS coins will be your best bet in few years.
3018  Economy / Economics / Re: Your economic competitor is at the other side of the globe on: March 16, 2021, 05:09:48 PM
Your economic competitor is no longer your next door neighbour but the guy in the next side of the globe. A country that wants to know how far they have grown or measure there progress level should have a check on other countries of the world. Take children in school for example with others in other countries especially in lower classes (using the catch them young slogan), you can rate the level of their learning capacity and what they are taught in their curriculum. If children in one country is still learning the basics and rudiment of mathematics and children in same class in another country is already far ahead in technology, manufacturing and building technological equipment, you should know what economic impact the future will become. What you have is what you will give. People are a function of their environment and will impact the environment in the best way they know. So is wise to give the young ones the necessary and basic knowledge required because the society and economy will be the benefactor at the long run.

Did you mean China and India is making progress in technologies  by leading the educational reforms and US and EU is slower in these aspects? I think it is good to take names of these countries to clear out any confusion.

BTW, if you have never visited India or China yet, you must go because your jobs have!
3019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Lightning Network challenge VISA someday? on: March 16, 2021, 12:11:03 PM
To answer this question we must understand how LN works and why the transactions are instant.

To make transactions with Lightning Network the business that want to accept LN payments needs to create some kind of 'channel', so, let's say you have a hosting business and you are accepting Lightning Network, then you create a channel with 0.1btc. So, when a client pay to you the service of 0.002btc now your 'channel' will have 0.098 available for LN. Once the channel gets full then it broadcast a transaction in the bitcoin blockchain to confirm all the LN transactions in one real transaction on the blockchain.

Now you can see the problem with replacing VISA. The transactions are instant but the community needs those channels to spend with LN, so, my answer is a big NO. Lightning Network can't replace visa.

That's for the clarity on this. LN is mainly an off-chain bypass methodology which collects multiple payments and broadcast it to the bitcoin blockchain as a single payment.

I know LN is now officially released and we already have LN wallets available in the market. But it indeed has a long way to go before it becomes mainstream. For LN to overcome Visa, Bitcoin has to first position itself there! So even I don't see how bitcoin or LN can even stay at the same position as Visa.

It is like a newbie challenging an industry leader. Don't see it happening in our lifetime!
3020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik must be able to listen to our complaints. on: March 15, 2021, 06:17:56 PM
That's the problem of POW algorithm. I believe that's one of the major reasons why Vitalik proposed to move to POS and that will happen faster than we anticipate. With the introduction of the Beacon chain, ETH POS algorithm is already here, but not officially moved out of POW.

This network movement from POW to POS will address a number of issues including gas fees and scale up the network to process more transactions per block. So Vitalik has already worked on a solution and hopefully we will see the implementation in 2021 iteself.
