You can set your clock by him, and judge the importance of the day that passed by the density and aggressiveness of his posts.

And it seems Pagan has punched his card off on his way out of the office for today. Judging by the working hours, he's in US.

that can be hardly called a war

That was a border skirmish, yes. And Chinese were not keen on more conflict since then.

One more interesting bit of news. The current Kiev leaders could get Yanukivich's head for display in a freezer, so they settle for selling his blazers:

Donetsk People's Republic asks Moscow to consider its accession with Russia

This is interesting, and, I think, a bit hasty. They should rather reinforce their independence and ask for peacekeepers.

Yes. They will have to exist as an independent nation for a few years, before being granted accession with Russia. Any immediate merger will prove extremely expensive for Putin.

Not to say, controversial.

In the meantime, they see strength in numbers, so Donetsk People's Republic announced their readiness to merge with Lugansk People's Republic:

Well, Serbia refused to participate this year, and I hope other East-European countries will follow suite.

I agree that the few talented performers who do end up participating are wasting their efforts. And now, with the semi-final model, they often don't make the final, which makes the rigged system even more obvious.

Russia Threatens to cut off Natural Gas to Ukraine
http://news.yahoo.com/russia-threatens-cut-off-ukraine-gas-june-3-154426657.html
Quote
Moscow (AFP) - Russia's state energy giant Gazprom warned on Monday that it may halt natural gas shipments to Ukraine on June 3 in a move that could impact the supplies of at least 18 EU nations.

Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller said Ukraine must pay upfront for its June deliveries because of outstanding debts. He added that Kiev had until the morning of June 3 to make the payment "or Ukraine will receive zero cubic metres (of gas) in June," Interfax reported.

Not so much to cut of, but to actually get some money for the gas they are going to delivering:

Gazprom to cut supplies to Ukraine from June if no prepayment
http://rt.com/business/158444-russia-ukraine-gas-supplies/

Quote
Kiev already owes the company more than $3.5 billion, which compares to Gazprom’s annual gas supply to Poland.

“In case Ukraine does not pay for the June supplies, Gazprom will notify the Ukrainian side, before 10am on June 3, and the volume of gas will be supplied to Ukraine in accordance with the advanced payment,” Miller said.

But Europe will suffer if Ukraine does not pay:

Quote
“The Ukrainian energy minister, Yury Prodan, conveyed alarming information saying that Ukraine does not guarantee gas injections to underground storages in the summer period… which means they do not guarantee the transit of gas to European countries due to the lack of resources – and the unwillingness to solve the problem in principle,” Novak said.

That  russian-chinese border is not where both side want it for real.

Although the USSR and the PRC fought a disastrous war over the border in 1969, an agreement acceptable to China was reached in 1991 (the Sino-Russian border agreement, where the disputed area was ceded to China by Russia). Both sides are happy with the border as of now.

And both countries ratified their common border with UN, something that has not been done with Ukraine.

Yeah , but that is a problem with the border.

the questions is why dint the west send observers if they support the democracy concept ? why are the west against the referendum on the first place ? if the Ukrainian Junta is so confident why they dont allow the referendum ? it will fail anyway no ?

There is one thing I don't get it.

Why the hell do they have to build a dam?

Judging by the sat images, there is one here, at the start of the canal:

They can't just close the dams, though. In the CabMin meetings Turchinov proposed cutting off water supplies by blaming construction/maintenance works.

The figures from Lugansk are out. 96.2% voted for independence. That is much stronger voice for independence when compared to Donetsk (89%)> Have to remember that the turnout in Lugansk was higher than that in Donetsk as well.

And be honest , do you really think those numbers are real?
Even Jesus won't get that many votes pro when running for pope Smiley

I think those numbers are real, from the base of those who decided to participate in the voting. Plus, from the recent set of events, the emotions are flying high. I read several accounts of those who were hedging, saying they made their minds after Odessa and Mariupol.

This thread is no longer a discussion , it's a propaganda war with people posting news. Why the hell do you post the entire wall of text just to make my mouse wheel scream?
Post the link and that's all.

I agree with you there. Posting a link, with a short quote for the lazy ones is enough.

I also think that the initial intent of this thread was to collect news items pertaining to the events. The events are usually reflected in the news, preferably the first-hand sources.

There is a third option. Wait out until the 25th and the Ukrainian presidential elections. Then talk with the actual legitimate government of Ukraine. I have a suspicion it'll be the chocolate king.

If anything, referendums can be re-run in calmer conditions. Norway had two referendums about joining EU, both times voting 'no', so there's nothing wrong having two referendums about the same question.

In the meantime he should sugegst moving in UN peacekeeping forces under, say, Serbian command to avoid further massacres of the civilians.

They draw a parallel to the events leading up to NATO's invasion of Yugoslavia: a number of bloody provocations and massacres that were not reported by the Western media, then when people started to retaliate, it suddenly got reported on front pages as aggression, justifying an invasion.
