3001  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sad Story - Closing Trading Account for Excess Profits on: April 16, 2022, 10:51:01 AM
Did you also maybe you broke some terms and conditions or rules that's why they did that?
OP couldn't have broken any terms and conditions, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed him withdraw. In glee they would've quoted what he violated. I think what happened with OP was what you described in the gambling instance you gave. That also goes on on most Forex trading platforms with brokers trading against traders and making sure they lose if they aren't very skillful at trading. Rather than allow traders interact or trade directly in the larger market these crook brokers will trade against traders and make sure they lose. Sadly, (happily though) OP was lucky and had an upper hand and didn't lose to the platform/broker.
3002  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Sad Story - Closing Trading Account for Excess Profits on: April 16, 2022, 09:57:55 AM
but as wrote they ask me to go away!
I'm laughing my head off here, literally. They asked you to go because you were "bad market" to them so to say. They wanted losers they could trade against (in house trading) and not winners who could wreck them. Anyway, they did you a favour to be honest by allowing you still withdraw. Others would've withheld your winning and cited cases of breaking a rule or two against you. I know of a dude who traded forex pairs and made a lot of cash but when he wanted to withdraw $100,000 the broker played him. It became an exchange of emails that left the trader in frustration. He would write them and they would ask him to exercise patience. The whole thing stretched into weeks. It was an incident that happened in 2017 or so. Nonetheless, when next you've a case against any Forex brokerage you should report the matter to Forex Peace Army
3003  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Losing in trading needs questioning on: April 16, 2022, 09:36:16 AM
I have had of a crypto traders that lost all his funds in one day because of market volatility. This happens frequently and I think there is need to recall where the cause could be from.
But of course, that's highly possible. I hear of newbie traders who rush to margin trading, and some of them even do it with high leverage. Why won't they lose. They hear of what profit other traders (experienced ones) make from margin trading and think it's that easy. They rush in and are expectedly scourged. For such traders I don't have any sympathy. They allowed their vaulting ambition of trying to hit it big overpower them. Trading isn't a get rich quick thing. It takes time and patience to nurture success in trading. I don't even have to overemphasize that.

Quote
I usually ask myself questions whenever I have consecutive loses in trading, trying to know where I'm getting it wrong. This had helped me many times to get more trading knowledge that had improved my entire trading.
That's the right attitude when one begins to incur losses in trades. Take a break and reflect on your trading plans instead of stubbornly trying to take revenge on the market. The market will always remain the master and will easily beat anyone at it any given time. As traders, we should always learn to listen to the market.
3004  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which trading indicators/traders would you recommend? on: April 16, 2022, 08:27:25 AM
I am wondering which tools would you recommend for spot trading in particular.
There's no gainsaying that the numerous indicators on platforms exist for the reason that each of them is used by one trader or the other. There are done I would find utterly useless but I also see certain traders mention them as useful. I guess it's the "one man's meat is another's poison" type of thing. Having so much indicators on platforms often complicates trading. The logic is to keep it simple. I like to use and depend heavily on line indicators of Support & Resistance, Pivots and Trendlines and then mix with rsi and MA for crosses. Keep it simple. Trading shouldn't be complicated.
3005  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammer get scammed on: April 16, 2022, 06:44:38 AM
The OP has every right to preempt the actions of the person he was in interaction with. As humans, we all should've that feeler which alerts us that something could be wrong. It's called instinct. However, we should also take into cognizance that instinct shouldn't be taken as an absolute without basics which should encompass giving someone the benefit of the doubt. There's a reason the expression, "Don't judge a book by its cover" exists.

So, the person you suspected wanted to scam you eventually sent you $300 worth of ETH and you withheld it without sending any Bitcoin? You should've sent them Bitcoin that was equivalent of what they sent you. And if he was more interested both of you would've continued on that arrangement until the needed $2000 they wanted was met. Not sending them anything back isn't what you should be proud of.

From your story OP, you seem the scammer here. Don't count yourself smart.
3006  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk makes offer to buy Twitter on: April 16, 2022, 05:46:02 AM
He will fail woefully, I have seen tweets about him not being a true lover of Bitcoin, despite holding a huge amount of Bitcoin.
He will fail woefully? Really? Come on, what are your parameters for measuring that, anyway? BTW, how do you justify your statement that someone hodling a HUGE amount of Bitcoin yet you still say he isn't a true lover? We may decide not to like how Elon does his things but we can't take away his involvement in cryptos whether with Dogecoin, Shib or Bitcoin.

Quote
Zero arguments he's a pretty good influencer of whatever coin
You know all that and you still think he will fail woefully?

Why should he even sell Twitter ? Why?
There's always a price tag and every man has their price.

If he do really wants to get something huge, then he should go make offer's to buy Manchester United.
Perhaps, his interest isn't in football. Again, Manchester United is taking serious beating at the moment and may not attract heavy and critical investors. Clearly, you also have to realize that not every money bag is a Roman Abramovich.
3007  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A blind investor's confession on: April 16, 2022, 04:52:39 AM
2. I bought a lot of altcoins because they are new, thinking I will make better money from those projects but almost all turned to exit scam right in front of me.
I sympathize with you on your loss. We all learn but sometimes some lessons are that harsh they throw us off balance. There isn't any investor or trader here who will beat their chests and say they've had a 100% win rate. None! Except they're hodling, and hodling just Bitcoin. So, take that as a lesson learnt and move on.

Most of my money are gone through fake meme coins and now after a few search online I came to know that meme coins aren't even important at all, dogecoin just receive a favour from Elon musk is all, please I need help.
I don't think Doge is as useless as you want it to sound. It might've started as a memecoin but it has utility. If you've made any transaction with dogecoin you would surely fall in love with its speed and ease of transaction time. It confirms easily, far ahead of what Bitcoin does. Those who use it know this.
3008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bluezilla the worst incubator of them all on: April 15, 2022, 06:52:50 PM
I think people should stay away from Bluezilla projects.
Nope, I don't think your advice should be adhered to. I'm sure you would've advised early Bitcoin adopters to dump at the slightest dip if you were here a decade ago. You don't allow momentary dump in the market rule your emotions. Always look out for the long term. Tronpad (one of Bluezilla's launchpads) was my first launchpad and I was on that until lately that it moved over to Polypad. Both Tronpad and KCCP could be swapped to Polypad. All the IDOs I participated in on Tronpad were instant hits and I made great ROI on first distribution that covered my invested capitals with extras at different times. It was this ROI that moved me to go investing in other launchpad which haven't been anything successful at the moment. Generally, the entire market is down; even Bitcoin. So, I will advise you (or anyone) to DCA on Polypad as it's now and average out instead of sobbing.
3009  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I saved myself from cryptocurrency disappointment on: April 15, 2022, 02:19:59 PM
OP, maybe you should also add "staking" as a way of crypto earning too. Many people don't even know that a good staking platform and crypto will keep giving the staker great passive income, pending when the farm closes. This is a good way to earn when you aren't trading. Instead of keeping your coins idle in your wallet, it's better to stake them; honestly. Some of these cryptos even make you earn in different tokens while some pay in their own token. In all, staking is a plus eventhough some people may disagree with my position on it.
3010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are your coins really safe stored in your wallet? on: April 15, 2022, 01:05:58 PM
I had recently been thinking about how really safe bitcoins or/and other alt coins are when stored in your wallet.
With fiat currency, financial institutions; mostly banks go all out with the notion that their institutions are safe and their vaults are top notch yet they still fall prey to bank robbers who would cart away valuables from the vault.
How safe then are the wallets used in storing coins? And if they could at any time and in any way be compromised hence losing your bitcoins
Even with banks, the safety of one's funds to a greater extent depends on one as the account holder. This is the simple reason banks tend to lay the blame on distressed customers who complain of illicit transactions on their accounts. Banks tend to blame these customers first before anything else. The first questions are often around how did the account holder handle their ATM cards and apps. They want to know first if it was compromised on the part of the account holder before digging deep. It shows that the safety of any account is with the holder. It's the same thing I see with cryptos. It doesn't really matter if the wallets and apps are the safest in the world. Once the holder isn't security conscious and takes steps to safeguard their account, and it gets into a wrong hand it's all gone. So, security of wallets is self dependent.
3011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without banking bitcoins will be work on: April 15, 2022, 11:49:55 AM
Provided Bitcoin continues to be paired with stable coins to ascertain its monetary value, there will always be a bank somewhere for it. Frankly speaking, as I've continued to maintain that Bitcoin must live alongside fiat to survive and the banks should also be there too. Come to think of it, there are countries with serious electricity and internet issues. So, how will those countries embrace Bitcoin in totality and completely jettison fiat as we know that Bitcoin is virtually dead without the internet.

You can always use P2P exchanges and thus there is no need for banks to be involved .
This method you are generally exchanging with another person.
You merely described an exchange of Bitcoin for another coin. What OP asked was the viability of spending Bitcoin as with the way we spend fiat/paper currency without recourse to the bank.

I continue to appreciate your concerns and contributions to this course. Though not a Nigerian, your sensitive to the fact and gives insights on paths we should walk to archive this and for that I am grateful.
You're right. Rikafip has been highly sensitive and concerned towards our plea to having a local board.

The data you provided is outdated

All the data that has been provided are 100% correct and accurate. The only mistake might be done there is the spelling of username.
You missed the post igehhh referred to as outdated. It was the first one you quoted in your comment, and that's true. It's not about wrong spelling of usernames. It's the basic information it contained. That post was done in February 2021 by Lordhermes. Many things have changed with our members since then as many have even stepped up in ranks too.
3013  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: April 13, 2022, 07:47:32 AM
There is no particular reason for this; it is simply an error. I've been drinking a lot of garri lately, and I think it's affecting my vision.
Drink more of the yellow garri and you definitely I'll be fine 🧐. I shouldn't be giving that advice for free but then what are comrades for.

Invariably, the world doesn't have one then because there's a whole lot of chaos globally right now and no one seems to have the capacity to fix them 🤪

@igehhh, i don't know if you missed it but the user Mpamaegbu is a Legendary user already, but he is in the column for hero members in the table, if there is no particular reason why, then you can put him in the column for Legendary Nigerian users, which he is.
You dey mind am, if I bend im neck he will know himself. He wants to demote me like Buhari did – APC! From top to bottom, from top to bottom – at the campaign ground a few years ago 😆. On a serious note, I think there are other users too who weren't placed in appropriate columns like Gozie51, Oshosondy, just to mention but two. They're Hero Members now. Initially I thought it was because he quoted from past data. I guess Engineer knows what happened there. All the same, Aluta continua...
3016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No condition is permanent in crypto on: April 12, 2022, 10:18:16 PM
When the Bear market comes everyone feels like it's over for crypto and no Bull market is coming again, maybe because got tired of holding on and on.
Those who will feel that way definitely will be the noobs in cryptos. Otherwise every average person in cryptos knows that the bear season is an embodiment that makes the general crypto industry complete. For some investors, that's even the period they feel so much excitement as it affords new investors an opportunity to come into the market while allowing old ones a moment to double or triple their investment by DCA technique.

3017  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Using a Stop loss "Good" or "Bad" on: April 12, 2022, 07:30:46 PM
The issue of using Stop Loss or not using it is as old as the arguments on it from proponents of it as well as opponents of it as usual. I've contributed to this same topic here (I don't know if it's by the same user or not) either early this year or in 2021 and I shared my thought on it. To put it down to a point, I think that debate has been over laboured. Anyway, to restate it; by my assessment as one who trades, Stop Loss is necessary. It's part of the MM – Money Management, mechanism to help cushion the effect of account liquidation. I quite understand what OP's worry is and it's called hunting of Stop Loss by some perceived brokers, exchanges or platforms. The reason that happens is because most traders like to place their SL around psychological levels. It's best one places SL a bit far from these levels and that will be fine. Don't keep SL close or tight to those levels.
3018  Economy / Services / Re: [HODL] [banned mixer] Signature Campaign | Up to 0.005 BTC/W on: April 12, 2022, 04:14:06 PM
The normal thing is to try a few weeks/months and if the businessman sees a return on their investment in advertising, it is normal to continue paying the signature campaign.
You're right. The 2–3 weeks thing was also a similar situation with Roobet campaign when it debuted in 2020. Although it didn't paused at the time, anyway. Roobet has been on for two years plus now. It's likely Jambler will come back sooner than you guys even expect it. 👇

This Campaign will initially run for 2-3 weeks before results are being evaluated to determine the future outcome.
3019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microstrategy rug us again? on: April 12, 2022, 03:55:51 PM
You need to experience what a rugpull is to truly understand its use. What could've happened at the time won't be far from price correction, nothing more. Perhaps when Microstrategy bought, certain whales felt it could be an appropriate time to dump in order to cause panic in the market. They often do this to create an atmosphere of panic sale and thereafter buy back cheap from weak hands. We see that pattern often. Yet investors still fall for it. How would they crash the market immediately after investing. It's not logical. Contrary to what OP thinks, it's far from rugpull. It's correction.
3020  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: April 12, 2022, 01:48:23 PM
Even in what looks like bumping this thread, it's not so much as that though as the issue that birthed this thread is still topical. On behalf of all industrious and actively involved Nigerians on this forum, I once again crave the indulgence of theymos as the CinC of bitcointalk to kindly consider our noble plea for a local board. The merits and gains of assigning one to the Nigeria community will undoubtedly astound members of this forum. Nigerians are a vibrant set of humans on the face of planet earth and will put that gesture to good use.
