When will people learn that these IPO's/high premined coins are most likely to fail, I mean I get it take a flier and pray, stop supporrting shit like this, christ.

SOme bad experiences you would like to share (Stackcoin?). Otherwise it's just empty ranting.

Honestly, never participated in an IPO and never will.  Yes, I missed some opportunities (ala NXT).  But the risks always outweigh the rewards.

I doubled my money by selling a Chunck when it was at 50 BTC, so the 60% I still have left is just an extra.
3022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Frycoin][FRY] - Shut up and take my money! Coin image rebranded! on: March 04, 2014, 04:20:24 AM
I'd like to offer an opportunity for someone to take over the coin, as you may have noticed, I don't really have enough time to keep up with this, to be honest I did not know it would be this much work, anyways.. this would mean I'd relinquish all coins I have, currently only around 900k left in the pre mine wallet.

I would provide all passwords for everything frycoin related, however I'd leave the email attached to the account, just in case the person chosen decides they just want to destroy the coin, they can't do so.

So if anyone is interested, please send me a pm with your experience with bitcoins in general and if you have the time and passion to keep this coin going.

What does this mean for Frycoin? Well.. If I continue to run it, the coin WILL die, but if someone has the time to do this then I'd be happy to hand it over, I'll still help out when needed but at this point this coin needs some proper leadership.

Wow, that is quite the statement. I think one other developer for something like this is not a solution. A team would be better. Something like:

- Developer
- Marketing
- Communications

I'm not sure about the legal risks with this coin, but would be willing to work together with other people on marketing and communications.

Yup, I stopped making the Android wallet but I will continue with that whenever we have something serious going on Smiley I don't want to waste my time for it for nothing.

This is bad news.

Nothing from dev. For days!

Think we need to promote big time!! Use up all or mine and give away everywhere! Aim to get 1000 new members!

I'm in contact with the dev and he took the announcement down. We're starting a team to get the coin going. Don't worry, be happy. Smiley

Sure Smiley we are happy ! But better shut up and take my money back to me ok ? Smiley

Keep developing!

Don't stop!

I didn't plan to crash the price. I have taken down the chunk, and added a few smaller sells.

Thanks Smiley

Interesting fact:

1   dmx374   2612          52,240,000

The Dev is the biggest alltime miner at www.cryptopoolmining.com/nut/, although he is not active anymore. I wonder if he has more.

According to the estimation of the value on the website $0.00295/ nut, this would mean he has about $147500 in NUTS. Hope he will make that happen. Smiley

He has more, because he started to mine in another pool Smiley Would be nice if nutcoin get some value, because i have 30+kk Cheesy

dmx374 please update first page...

kk = kilok = million?
3028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RE-ANN] ★CHE RevolutionCoin★ FIGHT COIN LAUNCH FAILS-Join the Revolution Now! on: March 03, 2014, 05:48:25 PM
I lost all my CHE when I accidentally unzipped the CRA wallet over this one that held quite some coins. Sad

How can this happen? Your CHE wallet.dat file should be in C:\users\yourcomputername\appdata\roaming\RevolutionCoin
directory. It will not be overwritten by CRA since it generates other directory.

I was one of the first miners and we still used the CRA folder back then (first launch). When I use the new wallet, no coins show up.

You mined at the beginning on our coin chain (CRA then CHE), then never updated to new wallet Crapples and later to RevolutionCoin. Now you have decided to install the wallet of the dead coin Cryptoapples, without backing up your old wallet? If so, your old coins are lost, I think. But why the heck you have done that?

I screwed up with downloading and unzipping the wrong file. Ah well, revolutions always have victims. Smiley
3029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool resistant | no-premine on: March 03, 2014, 05:39:57 PM
It is crazy idea, ASIC is not a choice, it is must, because of to keep and maintain the network is working, need a economical and high performance tool, this kind of coin have no future

As far as I understand the increase in processing speed will be offset by the increase in difficulty in order to maintain the block rate. In theory you can build super computers that will do super fast processing but at insanely high difficulty. In comparison drop the difficulty to almost zero and use a few CPUs like in the early days to process to achieve the same result.

ASICs put more power in an individuals hands to process much faster more efficiently. Due to the high cost only a select few that can afford it will have the processing power. The end result is that processing will be in the hands of a few people/farms because most people cannot afford it. Adaptive scrypt-n makes it difficult to develop and use ASICs and therefor mining coins based on this algorithm stays true to one of the core principles of cryptocurrency which is distributed processing/mining by many ordinary people on the street. This principle also helps with the distribution of new coins over a wide base which is good for acceptance of a digital currency as payment method. ASICs are therefore a tool to satisfy a greedy few.

Final IPO price = 0.00003348 BTC per HVC.

Don't you dare sell under 0.001 HVC/BTC!!!    Wink

That means the market cap for the total distributed coin would be 63.000 or 128.000 BTC. This is somewhere around the 7th to the 4th place on coinmarketcap. OF course the total amount will not be available immediately, so maybe there would be 10% after six months. Then it would be around place 60 to 30. I think that would be a pretty healthy valuation for now.

whats the odds of it going to 0.001btc/hvy?

It's pretty likely, I would say

Really interesting coin!
Sadly I'm too late for the IPO...  Cry

There is often a argument against CPU-only: Botnets

Are there any ideas to prevent that?

EDIT: that question wasn't meat to spread FUD

This was asked earlier as well and I think there is not a lot you can do about that. In a sense a botnet is like a person with a giant miner. Those nets don't come cheap, so basically like competing with pools. The criminal paid for those bots, so will not dump for low amount.

I hope u're right, but there are groups out there who don't need to buy the botnets, they operate it.
Not to forget, they can also manipulate the voting if their botnets are big enough.

Lets see what really happens, I will mine this coin. (no I've no botnet...)

We'll see. Normal coins have those 50MH miners as well that take up all the difficulty. Maybe the little man has a bigger chance this time. Smiley

except botnets are hackers using unwilling computers so its just free money for them, ya lets promote that that sounds good

Hackers sell those things for quite some money, so in simple economic terms it is a valuable resource.

I got weak hands....

Convince me otherwise  Undecided

This is a coin that started without an community. Just let it sudder for a moment, we are the FIRST PoS only coin. Our future is important to many other coins.

Indeed. These kinds of coins usually go one of two directions. Thousands of % increase or 99% decrease. More % to gain than to loose. Tongue

http://coinmarketcap.com/uno_90.html

Compare BC to this graph and realize BC is only 1 week old today. A lot could happen in a month.

Indeed. That's really the only sane and mature attitude to take right now. It has a chance, just as any other crypto. What is silly is to whine about the evil whales and 'manipulators' spoiling your hopes for instant wealth. Please people, this is altcoin. So many cheers of enthusiasm were uttered at the amazing network hashrate during PoW. Was it not perfectly clear, and to be expected, that this was largely due to big players looking to do what they always do, namely mine the crap out of a launch and turn a quick profit? And why not? That's the nature of this business. If you like the coin and want to stay in fine. Great. And fine to sell. Oh, and one more thing - the term 'weak hands' is misused quite preposterously on this thread. It's a term from equities, commodity and forex trading and it signifies a situation where someone is heavily leveraged on margin and gets flushed out in a down-market by the threat of a margin call or otherwise unsustainable losses. The big sellers of this coin are not 'weak hands'. In general they are actually the stronger players, with the ability to move the market. Anyway, do what you want and stop all this whining about the coin being manipulated. Nobody with any sense gives a shit. This is altcoin, bitches. Full disclosure, I own 132k blackcoin and wont be selling now because a) the price is low, and b) I can afford to take a chance on it. Period.

Strong and precisely. I was posting too much posts with comments about price, and this txt settled me down.

Thanks!

Let's better think about promotion and dev team support and don't lurk at Mintpal too frequently.

A thread of over 200 pages is a big enough sign that there is a community behind the coin. Not just whales. Smiley
I remembered quite fondly 3 days ago people were saying how Mint was launching and that BC was being sold to buy more of it.  Seems like it was a mistake now in retrospect.

Big mistake Smiley. I'm monitoring the market to try and get some cheap coins, before they're all swooped up.

At least it presents an opportunity for someone to quickly own a whole DUCK!

Ha! You're right!

And it won't be these developers, as they lost all of their money (well, our money, of course) buying two scam coins. While the big holders were pumping and dumping, the Duck geniuses were loading up! And then bragging about it!

The 4.5 BTC buy wall is almost gone and a looming seller of over 4 BTC is not good. I'll just keep my Ducks stored and let them out when the storm is over.
