we will climb back to $11k soonish. and then it is decision time. we will either go through this barrier and all is good or we will get rejected. if we get rejected we will see 9k and in worst case 8k, but that is the very bearish case. I want to accumulate more, that is why I am even considering those scenarios..

Worst case $8k? Have you even confirmed your math and science facts? We will be hitting $3k again for certain. Everyone's confirmed it.

Confirmed.

Has everyone confirmed everyone's confirmation yet?

I'm surprised how an unimportant, virtual entity like merit is dividing adult people so much.
All is well. Some are just bored out or suffer from a nasty, over-controlling ego.
Swaystar should chill the fuck down, problem solved.

I wish there was a reference button for what post you used to put someone on ignore as I'd like to go back and see what post I decided to ignore him.

Likely impossible to implement afterwards, but if posts would be non-deletable by authors, it would be possible for future ignores through some minor changes to the forum software. There will be a need for one or two additional columns in the database table that holds the ignore list entries, plus edits in most of the hooks/triggers and procedures which are altering this table.

As an alternative, the forum software could open a dialog to enter some text when ignoring a user, for memorizing reason(s).
You could simply place a link to the regarding post or just the thread- and post-ID, along with some explaining words.
If the original post got deleted, you have a chance to remind yourself why you put a user on ignore. Would be a simple interface and a joined database table, only adding and removing users from the ignore list, as well as deleting a user should affect this one.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Seems like we double bottomed in the $99xx range... currently $10460USD/$13697CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Time to head back up. Go Bitcoin go.

I ONLY visit the WO thread on bitcointalk.org. I always have a tab open on WO thread. If they delete WO thread, they delete bitcointalk.org for me. WO members are the real bitcoiners. No fake shit and bullshit like on reddit and twitter. I don't read this WO thread to post for some merit, otherwise I could have been Legendary a long time ago. Been on this site since 2011, only registered in 2013. Who gives a fuck about merit when you have bitcoin.

If nobody gives a fuck about merit they would have had no problems with disabling merit on this thread  Roll Eyes

If you're not getting any merits from this thread, then you don't really have a problem, right? Unless you give a ...

You can ignore merit and just mind your own business. Nobody would have a problem with that.
I was replying to a person who said nobody gave a shit about merit, clearly i do

Maybe we should consider getting rid of the merit system altogether. It's just a silly little popularity contest. Almost as bad as having a "like" button. Are people that starved for attention? It's like posting selfies or Tiktok videos. Look at me. Look at me.

Good thing that other whiny thread is locked. Delete Wall Observer? Ridiculous.

Gappie said it best. Wall observer is where real bitcoiners hang out. Stray outside this thread and most of what you see is a quagmire of foolish "technical" analysis, shitcoinery, and attempts to lower Bitcoin to the level of a mere investment.

Bitcoin is about decentralization, freedom from banks and governments, anti-inflation, and pseudonymity.

Sure, there are many mere speculators in the Wall Observer, but this is where the people who really care about Bitcoin hang out.

Most of the OG early adopters who hang out here have already attained a level of financial independence. This is why they laugh at bearishness and shitcoinery.

If you don't like it, there are lots of other threads.

I'm surprised how an unimportant, virtual entity like merit is dividing adult people so much.
All is well. Some are just bored out or suffer from a nasty, over-controlling ego.
Swaystar should chill the fuck down, problem solved.

A good old weekend pump could be on the table  Grin

Hope so, else all the nice growth from the last month went down the drain.

As long as we don't break 10.5k it was healthy pullback and we can build on it. If we do break it though, it might get nasty. Hopefully we won't break it down, I feel it's too early for that now. No more V bottoms though, some of power is lost.

We spent months range bound between $8k and $10k before moving upwards. Maybe we will be bouncing between $10k and $12k  for a while.

That's it. I'm also not going to whine about range chopping unless we stay above $10k, i have limited Fiat for buying, so i'd be happy about (relatively) cheap sats.
I'm not in for the quick money. While big dumps are shocking (or rather impressing?) me as well, like the $6k and $4k drops of the last bear market, i wouldn't even think about pulling off a mindrust maneuver.

I would dump some of my stash anytime, if i really need some cash that i can't get in other ways, but that's a different thing. If this will be the case some day, i'd always compare my liquidation price to the price of the first buys of the same amount in Bitcoin. So if the price went down 20% beforehand, i'd always think like "hey, i made several hundred percent in fiat".

Good eve, gents  Grin

I got a bad gut feeling back then, when @Burger started a twitter poll if we gonna retest $10.5k or not.
This was within the last two weeks.

Most altcoins dipped significantly harder than bitcoin today.

EDIT:
turns out roughly in +1% market dominance.

When bitcoin goes past $100k, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a little bit of some gold bars huh... Silver might be too much.
Bitcoin will never see over 12k ever again as it slides into irrelevance

Thanks god at least one troll to entertain us... I thought tgey were extinct... Grin

Good morn Smiley
Sounds like my brother in law, refused bitcoin a couple of weeks ago, when it was below $10k, because "bitcoin will never exceed $10k again"...  Roll Eyes

Two opposing forces:
  • Downward pressure: bigger market caps drags price action, as more money inflow is required to move the price
  • Upward pressure: every day the S2F holds, it gets stronger and stronger, so future appreciation gets discounted into price, providing a lift to prices.

It’s a battle.

I didn't look at this as simple as that, but you quite nailed it, imho.
You can see the increasing linear spread of market cap and price figures, for example on coinmarketcap graphs.
The more BTC get's recognized as what it is, the more inflow acceleration will occur as a logical result.
But i'm uncertain how increasing inflation will influence the latter. In critical times, people tend to fall back to traditional solutions, namely gold.

EDIT:
@JJG: Don't call me bearish just because of that statement about gold  Grin
Bitcoin should take over, imo. Only a matter when people will grasp this.

I might call you delusional, rather than bearish.

Sure there is a lot of sentiment out there regarding gold serving as a sufficient and adequate hedge against ongoing fiscal irresponsibility.. but you really believe that gold is providing anything that bitcoin is NOT going to be providing in the coming years.

Not only is bitcoin better than gold in terms of portability, divisibility, verifiability and a few other important characteristics, bitcoin also has the exponential s-curve adoption aspect, which surely is an unfair advantage for bitcoin, buy why would the market give any shits about fairness.

So, sure, maybe you won't loose your wealth as fast in gold as you might lose it in various kinds of fiat-based investments, but I still am NOT sure where you are speculating that you might be able to get something from gold that you cannot get from bitcoin... and sure you are likely going based on longer history and the already existence of financial instruments that are going to easily allow traditional financial institutions to quickly get into gold, but really?  you believe gold is going to perform as well as bitcoin in the coming years?

What's coming first?  A $10k gold or a $60k bitcoin?  Both are around 5x price appreciation.  Which one is getting there first?  You betting evenly on this?

How about after gold reaches $10k (hypothetically)?  You gonna get another 4x out of gold, to $40k?  you going to bet on that?

How about bitcoin?  Do you consider that bitcoin could arrive at $240k (that is 4x after reaching $60k) a bit more easily than gold?

I could keep going on with higher and higher numbers, and the upside still seems way more favorable for bitcoin as compared to grandpa coin (aka gold).

Make your bets however you choose, but I am having troubles appreciating how you might be so willing to suggest that gold is reasonable, feasible and necessary in light of where king daddy happens to be and where king daddy seems likely to go in the coming years.

I mean:
Bitcoin would deserve a good amount of inflow of gold instead, but most of the grannies still love their "granny-coin".
It's them* who are delusional, not me.
I don't trade with, nor do i hold any PMs.

*not the grannies, but the gold holders.

111 days after the 3rd halving.
#BTC  at $11,732.

Looking solid 👇

Confidence bands based on past halvings.
I am happy with this slight underperformance, diminishing returns, I am ok with that.

It's unlikely we will see growth the same as the past halvings. I think ~3-5x the prior ATH (so 60-100k) is a reasonable peak this time around.

In terms of market cap, i'd disagree. And then there's that thing about scarcity.
Acceptance is the key here. Derivatives might actually help, while slowing down market cap growth in the beginning.

Voted $12.0k - $12.5k.
Quite some resistance to take out until even touching $12k, though.

We often speak of Bitcoin mooning and I sometimes wonder how managing an enormous newfound wealth might inevitably impact my life and mental state.  A slippery slope no doubt

Yeah, this is a valid concern for many of us... I've heard of people who won the Lottery (several $M) and two years later they were penniless and owing to banks...

I think it's up to the individual, his character and attitude towards life. Personally, I feel it won't change me or affect my mental state etc., but no one really knows until he gets into that "fuck you rich" state. We'll know soon enough.  Wink

Simple:
1. Make some of your biggest dreams come true.
2. Otherwise continue to live your life "normal"*

*maybe to new living standards, though.

I'd get some land, a stable and some horses, a small skatepark and independent energy source(s) for my home, maybe a foreign place for holiday and run/hide purposes.
No supercar(s), no castles, no seasteads, no bling, no hos, no blow. Wait... a garden of weeden, maybe. yeah, i guess  Grin

Living mostly right-handed at the time, everything takes double the time and so i am busy all day long, getting half the things done.

I gather that you drafted your above post using the notorious and infamous hunt and peck method rather than a more effective kermit the frog method?

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

It's not that bad fortunately. I press the spacebar with my right thumb, the left index finger is semi-mobile, enough to type, with occasional mistyping, though.
All-day tasks like opening bottles, pulling handles, gripping bars (half of my physical exercise moves became impossible), prying out the damn ringing phone out of my left front pocket and hold it with the left hand... Just put your phone in the left pocket and try pulling it out with the right hand, that's some fun, i'm telling you.

You could also just tape your thumb to your index finger on the left hand for a day, if you're up for a little challenge.
An OutOfMemory real life simulation, with the pains excluded.  Cheesy

Who is ready for a push to 12k this weekend?

Me, me, meee!
One of my favorite twitter cryptowhisperers is also pretty sure about it:
If not this weekend, the next short-term run should push the king up to over $12k.

I'm positive and curious.
3037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 29, 2020, 05:29:52 PM
True.
But it's pronounced like "kung fu", just a little different "king fu" and in reverse "fu-king"  Grin
There are also funny places which have meaningful names when spoken by english speakers, for example "Rain" (pronounced like "rhine").
"Rust" (pronounced like "roost")

and so on...

EDIT: Back again, wife's spine is quite fine again, but i bruised my wrist and thumb a week ago. Painful that is, but managed to avoided my left hand getting casted by taping my thumb to my index finger. Living mostly right-handed at the time, everything takes double the time and so i am busy all day long, getting half the things done.
Greetings to my fellow observers  Grin

EDIT: hmm, a Frenchman. explains a lot!  Grin

At least he didn't quote the price in Francs Cheesy

Wife update: First day without constantly "mounted" neck support, off the opioids and on mild dose of ibuprofen.
Good development. Luckily, the local physiotherapist had a client that cancelled treatment, so she will be getting therapy way sooner than expected.

On the safety belt issue: In my country safety belts and their usage are mandatory, to be precise even if you only start ignition ("operate the vehicle" - as expressed by the law).
So if you happen to be in an accident without having the belt on, insurances will also pay you NIL.
Side note: When my mother was pregnant with me, a truck crashed sideways into my partents car, pushing my mum out of the car, including the door. My father (driver) found himself on her seat after the crash. Which happened in France, by the way, when the use of seat belts were not even mandatory back then. Would they have worn the belts, they likely wouldn't be no more (and me neither). Well, daddy isn't alive anymore anyway, but that's a different story.
Statistically  Roll Eyes a seat belt is not always saving lives, but still more often than not.

The car right behind her got the windshield smashed and every single air bag went off inside.
My wife isn't tall, so the headrest at the lowest setting protected her head/neck, just the sudden snap forward and the compression of the belt hit her pretty hard. It was a small car, but it held up surprisingly well. She didn't really remember the second impact, more like a fading dream after waking up, she said.
They put her on a low dosed opioid for some days, we hope to be able to replace them with ibuprofen asap.
She always was a careful driver, though it will take some time for her to be comfortable with driving a car again.

Thanks for all the best wishes.
I don't hang around in other communities, so they mean quite a lot to me.

Hi guys,

Typcroni44n shows up again, surprise, surprise... Returning pretty often for not wanting to be part of our boy's club, eh?  Cheesy

Well, the universe seems to put me on some tests before it might finally collapse on the 17th.
Wifey drove home from work, but instead of joining her brother's birthday party, she got into a car accident.  Undecided
74yo lady in front of her missed her turn and hit the brakes, honey bunny managed to stop about a foot behind her. So far so good, but the two ladies behind crashed my babe's car into the 74yo granny's volkswagen caddy. Hospital, x-ray, CAT scan. No cracks or dislocations, luckily, but severe spinal trauma. Now she's in serious pain, the safety belt left an impressive mark on her chest. She's in home care since today, so i'll be occasionally reading WO in the next few days or weeks, depending on how things develop.

I hope we broke through the $14k when she's fine again and i'm back posting my usual nonsense.

Drive carefully.
