3021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cardano/ADA coin’s launch on Bittrex represents what I detest about cryptos on: December 17, 2017, 04:43:12 PM
I’m not a cryptographer, mathematician or a coder. I can’t review or comprehend Cardano’s open source and ‘patent-free’ code. I can’t gauge if it’s truly evolutionarily groundbreaking since it yet needs to be used and openly reviewed by the community, not just a select few from the elite scientific / cryptographic house of lords.

Which is why probably when I went through Cardano’s website and documents it caught my interest – it hit all the right notes! ‘First crypto in highly secure Haskell, industrial strength’, ‘unit of account settlement layer, control layer for smart contracts’, ‘geared towards privacy protection rights of users, also taking into account needs of regulators’, ‘can evolve and adapt quickly without schisms by way of soft forks’, 'multi-purpose modular and flexible proof of stake Ouroboros', ‘airtight democratically governed blockchain model’ are just a few conspicuously outstanding statements.

Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IOHK – someone I admire (his Udemy course on bitcoin was one of my early researches into crypto) – tends to be politically correct which is good in the crypto sphere.

However when you wake up in the morning and see a half a billion dollar market cap ADA coin just jump in, launched on Bittrex - a highly reputable exchange at what I presume is over 10x the ICO price, you actually begin to wonder if Jamie Dimon and the other crypto-naysayers have a point.

Seeing as Cardano has some of the most respected members of the crypto-community, with a history of being through the ups and more importantly the downs; you’d think they’d take care while launching onto a prominent exchange, because when half a billion dollars appear overnight at exponential pricing, people are going to lose money and get hurt. And calling them plebes who have to do their due diligence isn’t something that’s expected from such leaders of the community.

The space is unregulated and needs responsible leaders and community members alike, or else we continue to raise red flags to bodies like the SEC, have more China like ICO refunds, and lot of people losing faith in something as revolutionary and disruptive as blockchain and cryptonougat.

I thought the same exact thing as you (and I found this thread)... now market cap is: $12.974.632.055 USD. One thing is sure: we were damn wrong. We should have bought it without thinking as all people in the world are doing. That's crypto world. The mistake is to be rational.

Price stablility means nothing either. A few whales can hold projects at 5 trillion for their entire life span if they choose to.

They often pause projects at a certain price for months so psychologically it sinks in this is the correct price and realistic.

Im not saying ada is a bad project but any ICO is totally open to this kind of gaming.

ICOS can't burn fast enough for me.

What was the ada distribution like. How long did the ICO last and how much did it raise?

The more narrow the inital distribution is the more likely it is a manipulated and colluded false cap. I have not looked into this one. But from zero to hero in a day projects are often dangerous.

Dangerous rational to employ.

ICO can got to 50 trillion zillion squillion if a few of the whale ico insiders and colluders decide that's where they want it.

It can also go to nothing if they want.

Forget looking at coinmarketcrap as the single best indication of a good project.

I have no doubt this project is worth while but it is obviously in an over inflated bubble that will pop when the whales decide they want their fiat or btc.

I don't trust ICO's especially those that appear at 10x ico prices and just rise from there.

Charles seems a cool guy but don't dream you can assume other whales holding huge swathes of it are essentially cut from the same cloth. This is a btc and fiat minting machine for them as are the rest. The jumping from tech train to tech train will continue forever get ready to leave one for the next one now arriving.

All these projects appearing from nowhere via ico going to multi billions are fake caps. You really think even 100M in fiat could be squeazed out of any of them you are wrong.

I will say again coin market crap means NOTHING. It is the most dangerous site in crypto bar none.

When people quote cmc as a proof of great project it is mostly laughable.

3023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay OFFICIAL BITBAY Thread Smart Contracts Decentralized Markets Rolling Peg on: December 17, 2017, 03:40:49 PM
is there really 21 bitbay supporters

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2479595.140

you can do better Im sure.... if there is all these bitbayers on slack tell them to get their butts over there and give a vote

they havent voted on here probably for the same reason why you havent jointed Slack. They see no need to be on here as they get all there Bay info from the new forum and slack.

Thats a big error on their part then because this forum creates free and targeted advertising for bitbay. Slack is for those already aware of bitbay.

Never underestimate the power of the main board here. This is crypto central and the place most noobs arrive to consult for investment advice and ideas.

The best advertising is free advertising, and this forum is the best there is to get the word out

There has been tremendous growth this past quarter with Bitbay and it should only continue into the future

Totally agree with you and David.

If any bitbayers can keep conversations up on this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2479595.140

will be great.

I mean there are only a handful of projects that can be classed as REAL projects on this board outside of the top 10 and bay is certainly one of them so even if we can narrow the view of all the noobs to just real projects BAY is going to do great.

Most get snatched by scams and vapourware marketeers.

3024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ALTS are the NEXT BIG THING? Add your Valid suggestion here now >>>>> POLL on: December 17, 2017, 01:51:43 PM
Hey, guys!

Loving this thread, actually registered just so i can join here, after 7 months of reading a lot of nonsense in other threads.

So, with only 7 months under my belt I feel far from confident enough to make a solid analysis, and would therefore like to ask if any of you have looked into XSPEC and DNA? To me they both seem to need a lot more development, but have a pretty clear goal.

Xspec had a terrible initial distribution not sure if it was entirely intentional or just everyone assumed it was a scam.

Investing in such an initially narrowly distributed coin has certain risks

Looks like they are though developing and sticking with it though so to their credit they are a real dev team it would seem.

DNA never heard of it.

However if you think they should be added like with any coin you can just post the proposal in the  format in the OP and people can analyse it and see what they think. It could be a good one just i have no heard of it myself

I don't really like any ico distributed coin as much as POW but if we must have them they should be proven to be widely distributed as much as we can tell anyway. Of course any ico can easily be gamed hard.

3025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A sudden surge in Dogecoin? What's going on? on: December 17, 2017, 01:46:53 PM
Its quite simple doge works fine.

Also smart money knows eventually ico;s will be pariah coins on all big exchanges due to legal reason.

The smart money also knows that POW coins have a much better distribution and are not prone to just a couple of whales cashing out collapsing the entire thing

The smart devs are already buying up the old POW coins super cheap to redevelop where they will have no legal problems later down the road. The get their dev fund from buying a ton at X then selling at X x20 and keeping the rest for long term.

should we not just glue this and pxc together so the dev can work on one new outstanding project with a chance of getting noticed and taken to the top 100?
3027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice on selecting an Altcoin under $0.10 for a decent return on: December 17, 2017, 04:13:52 AM
coin price is irrelevant - come on guys

look at total market cap

look at the total price of the cake not the crumbs to see the chances of price appreciation on investment

expensive crumbs (however cheap they seem) are going nowhere

3029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 17, 2017, 02:51:46 AM
This coin will double over 100x in the next months, mark my words.

I don't think 100x, but 10x is absolutely possible. I'm sure Byteball will follow IOTA success. I hold a bit from airdrops Wink

Even 10 x is quite a lot, i would say x5 , but who know what will happens!

well IOTA is now about 100x more expensive then byteball, all that with inferior tech. Even without the publicity stunts and lies that IOTA did, I would still expect 10x. I don't think it's unreasonable. Byteball has waaaay more room to grow.

But still, Byteball is a laggard. Raiblocks went ahead and pumped. I think it is the distribution model which suppressed the GBYTE price since many of the holders received their coins for free.

The distribution model may be not the main reason. NEM is free at the beginning also.

You need to understand that giving to 1000+ members more or less equally is not the same as handing 90% to a handful of whales and opposing project leaders.

Byteball will break the top 10 but will just take longer that it could have
3030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 17, 2017, 01:16:59 AM
byteball would already be at 20BN + if they had distributed to a handful of people all of whom had interest in colluding to hold up the price.

Instead we gave it all for free to opposing projects to dump to fund their interests.

Also one person holds 50% Of it with no multi sig and no decentralised way to control what happens with it. This project could probably do with some decentralised governance later down the road.

Solve that last one and you are just going to have to wait until the dumpers shift their coins to the hands of believers who will hold to its fair comparative value. It may not take that long if you can get all the noobs on it straight away when they arrive looking for the latest and greatest ...

I only have a tiny amount compared to many here so I am not too fussed but it is a shame to see such a great technical innovation get so little love compared to other turds on here so i am constantly highlighting it in my threads which try to locate real projects.

Unit price needs to be adjusted now asap on coinmarket cap... coinbase and bitstamp have said they are  signing up over 100K new accounts a day each right now...

the swarms of noobs are heading this way they want their 30 cent BB units that will go to da moon.

starting at 300bucks + they can't get too many Sad  so will look elsewhere for their x1000 tokens

3031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [WDC] Worldcoin | 3.0 Flirtatious Ant Released! | Multicoin architecture on: December 17, 2017, 01:06:54 AM
The developer Berzerk is currently seeking other developers to assist in the project. As of now he is doing light maintenance as needed. Hopefully the committee and new devs will be up and running soon.

Come on such a coin with such history and great name should not be left like this piece of ancient crud.

Coin swap it to a better code base with a dev funding mechanism built in so we can afford more than hobbyist coders playing around with a few lines here and there in their spare time.

Group funds a pot of WDC and entice some decent coders that are willing to put some effort in.

It shows these coins were distributed properly because no whales hold enough to have incentive to update them to something of interest to the community.

wdc dgc quark cbx

all the 2013 big hitters are reduced to dust ....

3033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in 12 coins on: December 17, 2017, 12:58:13 AM
Hi guys im new here and this is my first post, i just invested in 12 coins in some @august and the Rest in November

My coins are ( Ripple-Iota-Cardano-Stellar Lumens-Verge-Pivx-Dogecoin-Btc-Stratis-Gulden-Civic-Siacoin)

My goal is to hold them until 2020! You guys think that is smart or should i take some of my coins end of 2018 and let the Rest just sit for more years?

Thanks in advance!!

Some good some terrible over priced junk if you are talking todays prices that will destroy the rest of your collection

Put some real projects in there

bitbay
blocknet
sys
byteball - why would you not have it there if you bought iota
3034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think of Syscoin? on: December 17, 2017, 12:56:54 AM
Of course a great REAL project - one of the only real projects on here.
3035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple (XRP) to be added to Coinbase? on: December 17, 2017, 12:55:02 AM
well they already said they will not add any ICO coin so that cuts down their options in the top 20
3036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON (2B) will overtake Ripple's marketcap (29B) next year - Here's why on: December 17, 2017, 12:44:23 AM
bla bla bla

insta ico shit coin that a few whales can make look like it is worth trillions.

Avoid

Ripple is not much better

Let's stick to a real distribution process like POW so these projects dont make coin market crap look even more shit than it is for not separating REAL trustless decentralised crypto from start ups using crypto to extract wealth from 99% of the investors to the top 1 %
3037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New alt coin says it can beat Bitcoin on: December 17, 2017, 12:16:54 AM
lol simple as that hey

just say you will charge a price higher than bitcoin and mint the same or more coins and you beat bitcoin....

how did nobody think of this already
3038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ALTS are the NEXT BIG THING? Add your Valid suggestion here now >>>>> POLL on: December 16, 2017, 08:35:34 PM
179 votes going well.... thanks for all those that voted and then stated which they voted for.
3039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 16, 2017, 05:57:14 PM
@michael1

it was strangely neither it was blockologist he took over when CZ vanished. CZ complained when he came back. Polo didnt change it so we ended up with 2 different names.

Bittrex is easier to work with so best to go for it now but it will probably take tonys agreement

More important is just to get coinmarketcrap to change it so noobs can see the unit price (well they assume its a unit) is not already seemingly super expensive.

I think it is the single most important thing for bb to do right now. There are hoards of noobs heading this way right now. All about to invest in cheap per unit dags
3040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase are not going to add any ICO coins which ALTS will they add? on: December 16, 2017, 04:52:49 PM
I mean if you will cut out all of the ico coins from the top 50 what are you left with that they do not have listed already?
