The testimony is that pre-orders are and were pure manure and I'm glad that this sort of thing is in the past. Even tho I have a decent accumulation in several wallets from that time.

I'm pretty much out the amount that most people on here would only dream of having in their wallet yet long forgotten and almost can't remember to that time.

Is this a dead thread? Nothing will happen with this?  Huh
It's been pretty much like 4 months since I last took interest in this thread and at the time it was made known that hashcrap didn't have much if anything to sell to give back to former clients. Short answer, game over and we get nothing.
3044  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see BTC over $1,200 again? on: March 29, 2015, 03:49:05 AM
Yeah, before fixating on huge prices in the future, the first question should be along the lines of "when will Bitcoin stop falling?"
Just think of all the things in down the pike that will bring in demand to buy coins and if there's enough or any of that then the future is bright. I presume the bulls are accumulating in the mean time and then planning a time for when the breakout makes sense so that it'll go on generically.
3045  Economy / Speculation / Re: Permabull Party Thread on: March 29, 2015, 03:46:07 AM
Permabull since 2011 here. Risk/reward now seems about what it felt-like to me in early 2012, though I do think cycles are likely to take longer now vs then, since the ecosystem is larger.

And just to be clear, many of us bulls fully ack the risk involved with bitcoin as an investment, and consider it a very high sigma positive expectation position. Actually, it's probably the most asymmetrical opportunity I've seen, by far, that doesn't require the resources/expertise of a hedge-fund operator to actually execute on.

This is very true. Bitcoin is very easy to get in on. No minimum deposit requirements, no credit or background checks. If you can figure out how to buy something on amazon, you can figure out how to buy bitcoin at circle or coinbase.
True but too bad we don't have the problem of the amount of people seeking to make an Amazon account translating into making Coinbase or Circle accounts thus adding to the demand around here. Buy and hold til then w/ maybe a little trading and lending in the mean time. Wink
3046  Other / Politics & Society / Peace with Iran on: March 29, 2015, 02:37:09 AM
The forces that do not want a U.S. nuclear deal with Iran, nor any U.S. detente with Iran, are impressive.

Among them are the Israelis and their powerful lobby AIPAC, the Saudis and their Sunni allies on the Persian Gulf, a near unanimity of Republicans and a plurality of Democrats in Congress.

Is there a case to be made for a truce in the venomous conflict that has gone on between us since the taking of U.S. hostages in 1979? Is there any common ground?

To both questions, President Obama and John Kerry believe the answer is yes. And they are not without an argument.

First, the alternative to a truce — breaking off of negotiations, doubling down on demands Iran dismantle all nuclear facilities, tougher sanctions — inevitably leads to war. And we all know it.

Yet Americans do not want another war in the Middle East, with a nation three times the size of Iraq, and its allies across the region.

Nor can Iran want such a war. Had the ayatollahs and mullahs wanted it, they could have had a war with the United States at any time in the third of a century since they seized power.

3047  Other / Politics & Society / Not a Cop? You’re a 2nd Class Citizen on: March 29, 2015, 02:35:04 AM
The prosecutor at Matthew Townsend’s March 19 preliminary hearing appeared to be auditioning for a Daytime Emmy. Her subsequent performance, and that of her colleagues, may be sufficient to earn a criminal contempt charge.

Townsend, who is active in the Cop Watch (or police accountability)  movement, was arrested without cause on February 2nd in Meridian, Idaho for the supposed offense of walking away from a cop who wouldn’t charge him with an actual crime. On the eve of his hearing he protested that mistreatment in a Facebook post promising a “shame campaign” against his kidnapper, Officer Richard Brockbank of the Meridian Police Department – and any public officials who collaborated in that outrage.

The Meridian PD wanted to prosecute Townsend for felonious “intimidation of a state witness,” a charge without merit that summarily convicts Officer Brockbank of cowardice. The intent was to have Townsend arrested before or during the March 19th hearing on his “resist and obstruct” charge.

3048  Other / Politics & Society / Night vision eyedrops allow vision of up to 50m in darkness on: March 29, 2015, 02:17:47 AM
It might sound like something straight out of Q’s laboratory or the latest Marvel film but a group of scientists in California have successfully created eye drops that temporarily enable night vision.

Science for the Masses, an independent “citizen science” organisation that operates from the city of Tehacapi, theorised that Chlorin e6 (Ce6), a natural molecule that can be created from algae and other green plants, could enhance eyesight in dark environments.

The molecule is found in some deep sea fish, forms the basis of some cancer therapies and has been previously prescribed intravenously for night blindness.

RNC on Clinton: 'Even Nixon didn't destroy the tapes'

...
Clinton's lawyer informed the House Select Committee investigating Benghazi on Friday that Clinton no longer had copies of any emails from her four-year tenure as secretary of State, ending in 2013.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the committee, said in a statement Friday that "Clinton unilaterally decided to wipe her server clean and permanently delete all emails from her personal server."

Gowdy, whose committee had subpoenaed the server earlier this month, charged that Clinton apparently decided to delete her emails after Oct. 28, 2014, when the State Department first asked her to turn over public records.

Clinton has turned over roughly 55,000 pages of documents to the State Department, though Republicans have have seized her admission this month that her aides deleted more than 30,000 "personal" emails.

Marco Rubio may have presidential announcement date: April 13 at Freedom Tower

Marco Rubio has reserved the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami for an undisclosed event April 13, which appears to be a potential, if not likely, spot for Florida’s junior senator to announce his candidacy for president.

A Rubio adviser stressed nothing has been nailed down for any kind of announcement, but the timing makes sense: Likely presidential candidate Rand Paul is expected to make things official April 7, followed by a five-day, five-state announcement tour, so Rubio presumably would not want to share the spotlight during that period.

All-but-announced candidate Jeb Bush appears to be in no rush to shift more formally into campaign mode, but Texas Sen. Ted Cruz made his announcement this week, and Democrat Hillary Clinton is expected to make her campaign announcement in April as well, though nothing has been set.

Rubio, 43, has been preparing for a potential presidential run for at least a year. While behind in most early polls, he has generated considerable buzz as a top-tier contender who offers the party a fresh face, foreign policy experience, charisma and substance.

3051  Other / Politics & Society / Congresswoman claims climate change will turn women into prostitutes on: March 29, 2015, 01:53:17 AM
California Democrat Barbara Lee proposed a resolution in the House of Representatives that claims women will eventually be forced into prostitution in order to obtain life-sustaining food and water for their families.

Lee introduced House Concurrent Resolution 29, warning that women will be forced into “transactional sex” to get enough food and clean water — all because global warming will create “conflict and instability” in the world.

“Women will disproportionately face harmful impacts from climate change,” Lee’s resolution reads. It continues claiming, “Food insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health.”

Lee’s document goes on to urge Congress to agree on the “disparate impacts of climate change on women,” and goes on to demand that Congress use “gender-sensitive frameworks in developing policies to address climate change.”

Lee also charges that women, who are “often underrepresented in the development and formulation of policy regarding adaptation to climate change,” are doubtless in the best position to offer policy ideas.

Rand Paul and the Koch Brothers Are Having a Nixon-in-China Moment

...
In the last few months, that narrative has shifted. The Republicans who control Congress and most of the states are taking a larger role in the reform push. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who has co-sponsored a series of reform bills, is giving talks to black audiences that draw scores of reporters.

More than the possibly pernicious influence of the Koch brothers, some Democrats worry that their thunder is being stolen. “One of the great ironies for me, having spent all this time on criminal justice reform, is how the Democrats have basically ceded this incredibly important issue to the Republicans,” former Virginia Senator Jim Webb told Vox’s Ezra Klein this month. “Rand Paul's the guy who's been running with it.”

3053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is 2015 The Year? on: March 29, 2015, 12:27:22 AM
I think it will rise in price quite a bit by the end of this year, but it will never reach the $1000 it once was.

Why not? Nasdaq and nyse are on the sidelines, waiting to throw money at Bitcoin. Next rise could very likely be orders of magnitude bigger than the previous rise.

I'm not saying we will see 6 digits, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did.
exactly. we've already seen 1,2,3,4 and 5 digits. the next big thing can only be 6 digits. simple logic. easy money.

oh wait... we haven't seen 5 yet.. then 5 will be next.
I'm leaning towards this gentleman's prediction. Once the market can be trusted by institutional money, lots of it will come into this space.

6 Reasons Why Ted Cruz Is Not A Serious Candidate For President

It has been widely reported in the national media that Texas Senator Ted Cruz will formally announce his candidacy for the 2016 presidential election on Monday at Liberty University. This announcement comes at the very beginning of an expected string of campaign announcements for the 2016 presidential election. Many tea partiers and grassroots conservatives alike are excited about the prospect of a Ted Cruz candidacy, but questions have risen about his viability as a candidate. Indeed, there are several reasons to believe that Cruz has very little potential to win the Republican nomination.

1. His early polling has been abysmal.

According to the Real Clear Politics 2016 polling average, Cruz is averaging 8th place nationally, 9th place in Iowa and 8th place in New Hampshire for the Republican nomination. He is even dead last in South Carolina, and is behind Scott Walker, Rand Paul and Ben Carson amongst the conservative candidates. This gradual slide into the 3rd or 4th tier of the polls has come as Cruz has failed to create any significant waves since his 21 hour filibuster to defund Obamacare. People may say that it is too early to take the polling into account, but the people who are being asked to staff these campaigns must make those decisions now, so these polls are what they have to go off of at the moment. His abysmal starting position could cause Cruz a real problem with attracting talent to his campaign.

2. Many of his most talented staff have gone to Rand Paul.

Speaking of talent, a lot of the best talent that helped Ted Cruz win his 2012 senate election is now on board with the Rand Paul campaign. Rachel Kania, Cruz’s former Texas state field director, has signed on to work for Rand Paul in 2016. Joining her will be former Ted Cruz digital strategist Vincent Harris, a man whose star has risen since his digital campaign helped push Bibi Netanyahu over the top in the Israeli Prime Minister elections. Former Ted Cruz Youth Outreach Director Nick Dyer has even posted several pro Rand Paul 2016 items on his Twitter account. Longtime Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri spurned both Cruz and Texas governor Rick Perry to join Paul’s campaign as an advisor in what was a major blow to both candidacies. These moves not only shrink the Senator’s talent pool, but they also paint a picture of doubt among those closest to him about his chances of winning in 2016. This is a major red flag for any potential candidate.

3. He faces a serious fundraising deficit.

Compared to his senate colleagues, Ted Cruz’s fund raising prowess has been lackluster at best. With a mere $1.3 million on hand (with over a half million in debt), he lags behind his senate colleagues Marco Rubio and Rand Paul in the fundraising department. This deficit has come, along with his slide in the polls, in the months after his Obamacare filibuster, as 2014 was a lackluster year for the senator compared to his impressive 2013. With little more time for grandiose displays in the senate before his 2016 campaigning begins full time, there are serious questions about whether Cruz has the ability to raise the money needed to be competitive.

Surprised you used this link instead of the one on infowars which is where this all came from. They've been doing these drills for quite a while but this time it's more spread out and using more and varying troops. Naturally, you won't see this covered on any of the national news networks.

This is the largest internal training exercise/public conditioning session they have done domestically yet.
You aren't kidding! They are really stepping it up a notch but it doesn't appear to have any worthwhile value other than honing their skills for domestic rule.
3056  Economy / Economics / Re: Another example that inflation does not help economy on: March 28, 2015, 10:22:28 PM
The US govt has been misleading the citizenry about what the true inflation rate is here by not factoring in food and other prices that continue to soar. For instance, from everything to sugar, ground beef, pork, steak, chicken, milk, soybeans and many other things, there has been 5-15% increases since last years prices which is bad news when wages have been stagnant and the only jobs coming back have been minimum wage, part time and seasonal positions.

The BIT is the first product from Silbert’s new Grayscale Investments, a digital-asset management firm being launched concurrently by his Digital Currency Group. The Wall Street Journal notes that the BIT is the latest addition to the growing number of bitcoin trading platforms that aim to expand bitcoin investments beyond the volatile spot exchanges and attract a new class of investors....

What?
Isn't this really BIG news?
I would like to think this is but I'm not exactly sure whether the fixed number of coins/shares in this BIT are just going to be sold from present holders to newer ones or whether Barry can add more share batches for other new clients this adding extra buying demand. I imagine the older holders bought higher and thus won't sell below a certain price. My only interest is in whether this new engine will continue to add demand to the marketplace.
