3041  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What age bracket is perfect for gambling on: April 01, 2021, 07:59:58 AM
I personally think that children should never gamble no matter how much money they have. As a kid you are still in your formative stage and way more vulnerable to a possible gambling addiction than a adult who has already developed a solid character.
Of course you can't generalize it that easily because there are 16 year old teenagers out there who have way more discipline and self-control than the average adult and there are also adults of course who get addicted to gaming very easily and therefore betting money that they would desperately need for other things.
But in general i think it's a good thing that children are not allowed to gamble of course.
3042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Low volume coins good for investment now? on: April 01, 2021, 07:49:12 AM
Can a coin with very low 24hrs volume still brings profit? For example zclassic, the volume isn't even up to 20k in 24hrs, is it worth the risk or it's a big no for you? What do you think about this?

Zclassic had a great run back in 2018 because it was a fork of zcash but without the built in 20% miners fee. If you look at the chart of zclassic now it looks pretty much like a slowly dying project. Even during the last months where we had a solid bull market the price of zclassic did not react at all.
So i personally would not risk to buy zclassic now because i don't expect them to deliver any news or features that would bring this project back into center of attention.
If you have new coins with very low volume than it's a different thing because those projects just started and are not that well known yet, but old projects with low volume are dangerous.
3043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your thoughts on Altcoin bullrun on: March 31, 2021, 05:11:53 PM
The last 5 months have been an uphill ride for most of us wherein we have gained so much in altcoins especially those coins which were literally dead or simply considered as shit coins like HOT(Holo), Pundi but they have given massive profit with unexpected pump wherein XRP, XLM who were front runners at the beginning of bullrun are at standby mode compared to their previous bullrun during 2017. What's your though on this?

During this bull market we see a lot of new coins emerging and doing very well price wise like Polkadot, Solana, Kusama, Cosmos and basically all those projects that were about "Defi" a few weeks/months ago and that are now about "NFT's". From the old coins a lot of projects are still a mile away from their ATH's that they reached during the bullrun in 2017 even though the total market cap today is way higher than in 2017. Examples for that are IOTA, NEO, XRP. Those coins do not have the bonus of an early mover anymore and also need to deliver exciting new features and news to stay relevant.
3044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 31, 2021, 02:51:04 PM
Looks like that Robert Lewandowski will be not playing in the coming weekend game against Leipzig!
He sustained a ligament injury on the polish national team!
Dont know if that will change the chance for Leipzig to maybe win the match.

Source : https://www.t-online.de/sport/fussball/bundesliga/id_89748930/robert-lewandowski-baenderverletzung-so-lange-faellt-der-bayern-star-aus.html

That just shows how fragile and volatile professional sport is. A week ago i was 95% sure that bayern will win against leipzig and also confident that bayern will advance into the semi final in the champions league against paris. Now their best player is injured out of nowhere and now paris is the slight favorite in my opinion and the race for the bundesliga title is also completely open again. It is also sad for lewandowski on a personal level because it looked very much like he would be able to beat gerd müllers old record of 40 goals in one season what most people thought was impossible. I guess those people were right in the end.  Undecided
3045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum vs gold on: March 31, 2021, 12:12:51 PM
Ethereum price is higher than that of gold now.
Ethereum has a large market cap than gold.
Ethereum is overtaking gold in all ways

If you compare 1 Ethereum with 1 ounce of gold than you are right with your statement about the price but i would say you probably have to compare the price of 1kg of gold to the price of 1 full ETH to be correct.
Just look at the total marketcap of ETH in comparison to gold you will see that gold has still the 20x higher market cap than ethereum so ETH has still a long way to go to surpass gold in that matter.
But ETH doesn't even need to get bigger than gold because they are 2 completely different things. Gold is a precious metal and ETH is a blockchain platform.
3046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 31, 2021, 08:29:53 AM
Fc  bayern confirmed now that Lewandowski has an injury in his knee and will therefore miss around 4 weeks. That means he can not play in both games of the Champions League quarterfinal against Paris. In my opinion bayern was the slight favorite in this matchup before but now i think the Momentum shifts to psg. Lewandowski is just 1 player but he is the best striker at the moment. That was probably the worst possible moment for an injury like this.
3047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Becoming a Store of Value on: March 30, 2021, 05:51:27 PM
I found a video of Mark Cuban explaining this: https://youtu.be/QEoBeIdwuRg

Do you think Ethereum has potential to become store of value? Why or why not?

Just like bitcoin has become a store of value instead of a currency for your daily shopping i see that the same can happen to ethereum to in the near future because obviously ethereum is the second "biggest" and bet known crypto out there.
But i don't think that this is the vision that vitalik had and has for ethereum. Because of it's smart contract functionality it has a lot of features that can be built upon and ethereum can be much more than just a asset that is stored and never touched in your wallet.
3048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous a red flag? on: March 30, 2021, 03:58:00 PM
I'm doing a research on a new project right now and I see that the team decide to go anonymous, is staying anonymous a red flag for newbies?

As others in this thread already mentioned here it depends on the type of project in my opinion. If they are doing a new privacy coin or a project that protects your identity on the internet than it just makes sense that the team wants to stay anonymous.
Privacy coins are not allowed in certain countries as far as i know so it makes sense that the devs don't want to be known there. If they ask for a lot of money though and still don't want to reveal their identity than it's very questionable in my opinion and i personally would not invest in a project like that, because it just seems to unsafe and a rug pull is more likely this way.
3049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: March 30, 2021, 08:59:01 AM
^  The overcut turned out to have worked in Hamilton’s favor.  Brilliant performance from him and it really showed how Hamilton is really good at managing his tires towards the end.  Can’t wait for the next one.

This season’s gonna be close between RBR and Merc.

I don't think between RedBull and Mercedes, rather between Verstappen and Hamilton. Bottas have only a very little Chance for the championship, the second drivers by RedBull and Mercedes not strong enought.

Like most of us in here i would also wish for a much more closer season this year with RB and Mercedes being equally strong, but to be honest i don't see it yet. Even in sundays race Mercedes seemed to have more reserves than RB as verstappen had to race at the absolute maximum to be competitive and in the end it wasn't enough again.
Also Hamilton does not get competition from his team mate as bottas is a good driver but he seems to be happy with being the clear no. 2 in his team, which i don't blame him for.
So i think we are still going to experience a F1 season that is dominated by Mercedes again.  Lips sealed
Or maybe i am just to negative because all of the last F1 seasons were so boring so i can't imagine it being any other way anymore  Smiley
3050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: significance of different altcoilns on: March 30, 2021, 08:41:41 AM
Hey Guys, im still very new to crypto.  is there a resource to learn about the significance of different altcoins before investing?

Good sources to read through first could be coinmarketcap.com or coingecko.com. On this sites most crypto projects are listed and if you click on a certain project you also can see some infos about that project, a short description and also linke to the webiste of the project.
So you could just go to this 2 sites and looked through the projects until you find a few that you find interesting and then you should dive deeper into this projects by reading their whitepapers, looking at the tokenecomomics the utility of the token and also at the team and the roadmap.
3051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 30, 2021, 08:16:33 AM
I couldn't watch the miocic-ngannou fight live as it was on early monday morning in my timezone, but in the highlight videos that i watched it looked like that ngannou was way more patient than in their first fight and therefore not missing so much wild swings.
So he was still fresh in the second round and could hit miocic with a nice jab first before knocking him out a little later. Great fight overall and also a good performance of miocic who survived way longer than most of ngannous opponents.

Now we will see if a fight of ngannou and jon jones happens. Fingers crossed.
3052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: tokens of start-up companies? on: March 29, 2021, 07:22:25 PM
With some of these new projects that are creating their own tokens, I have a feeling that no token is actually needed for their business model. The token is then only created because you can then determine the distribution yourself and reserve, for example, 15% of the total tokens for the team. If the project is successful, the team members are financially secure.
3053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: estimate gas fees erc20 token purchase on: March 29, 2021, 02:33:24 PM
I am about to buy some erc20 tokens, but the purchase would be a couple of hundreds USD each

I'd like to check the transaction costs, amount of gas needed to see if it makes sense for me

i have read that metamask provide you an estimation, but I am not using it, using MEW instead

tks

If you are not using metamask you can look up the current ETH gas price on different websites too. Coinmarketcap shows it only in gwei which is not very user friendly for crypto newbies like you are.
https://etherscan.io/gastracker also show you the transaction costs in $ and i personally also like gasnow.org because it also shows you the gas hourly gas prices in the last 7 days.
So you can estimate on which time of the day the fees are the lowest and you can therefore plan your purchase or transaction.
3054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 28, 2021, 11:11:03 AM
Leipzig is making a big impressions in the competition so far. their backlog to Bayern Munch is acceptable. there are still many matches to follow. and because they already terminated in the Champions League they might get hungry to win the title in the Bundesliga

Leipzig have only the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal now. I'm sure that they will give battle for winning both titles. Leipzig also will hope for Bayern to make mistakes as Bayern are still competing in the CL. Leipzig are in the semi finals in the DFB Pokal and they will most probably play a final game against Dortmund.

But you also have to see that bayern is not in the DFB Pokal anymore. I mean there are only 2 matches left in the Pokal but still every match they don't have to play means a lot of saved energy.
Of course if bayern can advance to the semi-final of the champions league than they still have more games than leipzig to play but bayern is used to playing matches every 3 days.
It all depends on the match next saturday. If bayern wins the title race is pretty much done, if bayern loses they are my personal favorite to win it but of course it's a much closer race then.
3055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: New Coins to be listed on Coinbase on: March 28, 2021, 11:05:38 AM
Hello, We have all seen the exponential growth which happens in the price of any new token which gets listed on Coinbase. Case in point are ANKR, STORJ or MATIC before that. What I have seen is that announcement is made through twitter handle of Coinbase just 1-2 days before.

Is there a way to find out which are new tokens which would be listed on Coinbase over a period of time? If not specific information as to the token and date when it would be listed, at least the list of tokens which are under active consideration by Coinbase to be listed next? I tried to do googling at my end but couldn't find this kind of information.

I'm new to this space. If senior and experienced members have any information related to this subject, it would be very useful.

Thanks & Regards

If you don't have insider Informations i don't think you can find out about a coinbase listing or a binance listing before they announce it officially on their twitter page or other platforms.
When you are looking at new projects that are not listed yet on any exchange you can look at their investors to get a hint on what platform they might get listed.
For example coinbase was listed as an investor on the website from the graph so it was pretty obvious that the graph would probably get listed on coinbase once it will become tradeable which was the case.
3056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin or project dies? When and how? on: March 27, 2021, 09:56:21 PM
We all know that Some coins prpjects not make it long
They die so what the main reasons?
And how far the coin will go even if its bad project?
Let's Say you buy very low cap coin but most of them will reach top 20 coins.
Look at the fact how Fast ada uni and aave went to top 20-30 coins.

Question is Where will be end?  Can the top 10 or 20 coins disapeare?

So are there average statistics how far the coin goes Before it dies?

I dont think that projects that are in the top 10 or top 20 at the moment can still die completely. At least if no major incident like a rug pull or hack happens. What can definitely happen though is that a top 10 project slowly loses relevance and therefore slowly but surely moves down in the market cap ranking. This already happened to some top 10 coins of 2018 like neo, iota or dash. So this will probably also happen to a few of todays top coins.
3057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to win at roulette? on: March 27, 2021, 04:28:27 PM
You can always try that old Black or Red method. You bet for example 2 Dollar on red. If you win fine do it again. If you lose bet double the amount of your first bet and repeat that until you win. With that method you always make your Initial bet as Profit. But you need a lot of funds so you can double your bet a few times and if you are really unlucky you lose everything. Also real World casinos dont allow that method. Best thing would probably be to not play roulette at all  Smiley
3058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it so hard to make one Good coin? on: March 27, 2021, 04:04:49 PM
I think that back in the day when ethereum launched even the most passionate supporters did not think that ethereum will become as big and as widely adopted as it is today. But of course with wide Adoption also comes heavy network usage and this leads to the high network fees that we suffer from today. They know about the problem and are already working on a solution but that is probably not as easy as it seems.
3059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wave of gambling may end with COVID recovery? on: March 26, 2021, 11:42:18 AM
Gambling business and activity has increased heavily during COVID. No wonder, more free time (forced sometimes), less social life and a bit of you only live once.

Add campaigns were also heavy on TV, internet and other. Do you think that this trend is here to stay or people will gamble less once COVID is better solved.

Well looking at this graph it is also clear, that the whole online gambling sector was growing every year from 2009 on. And the increase from 2019 to 2020 is only marginally bigger than in the years before.
I think maybe in 2021 we will see a bigger increase now that the pandemic is going on for over a year now and people become more and more bored the longer they are not able to do outside acitivities.
I also hope we don't get a new wave of gambling addicts due to covid.
3060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need Litecoin when we have Bitcoin Cash? on: March 26, 2021, 08:59:00 AM
Real question, Bitcoin cash does it all and better with a stronger backing. Why Litecoin?

Well maybe these coins are similar in their use cases and features so you could ask why do we need them both, but if you do that in that case you also need to do this with basically every industry and their products in an open market.
Why do we need cars from BMW if we already have Mercedes cars? Or why do we need Smartphones from Apple if there already is Samsung.
The answer is because some people like BMW more than Mercedes and Apple more than Samsung for completely individual reasons.
And the same thing applies to crypto projects too, because there aren't much really unique projects out there which offer something that all the other projects cant offer in a similar way.
