3041  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin investment can reduce inflation for our country naija on: August 16, 2023, 11:41:50 PM
Our country nigeria is suffering for economic inflation / recession and since this current president resume office in villa the course of commodities is going up everyday, so I dey say for we to buried this inflation forever, is for our government to legalized the use of cryptocurrency so that people will invest with bitcoin and also trade with bitcoin. But I dey see say if we want to balance this our country naija we have to invest for bitcoin. I wan make other people put mouth for this matter because the suffering is much and course of food's are high, let us give bitcoin chance and check weather if we invest with bitcoin things will normalize
Sarcastic statement right Grin do you ever think that 9ja government will make bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to become legal?

Do you think the government ever consider or even give of thought to cryptcucrency being an escape from economic problem that os facing the country?

What are your mechanism or statistics that made you think that,  adopting cryptocurrency as this time will give the country an immediate relief from it current economic crisis and what are the possible measures you think that will achieve,  I think,  solving Nigeria's problems,  goes beyond just cryptocurrency adoption because the problem of Nigeria is not money,  but the problem is how to utilize the money for the common goal of all.
3042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLITICS AND LIES on: August 16, 2023, 11:30:15 PM
Politics is a dirty games and that phrase goes a long way to prove to us how unreliable the words and the promises of a politician shouldn't be taken seriously,  most especially when they are in their campaign period because most cases have proven that,   what the politicians say during campaigns are far from what they do when they eventually win the elections.

This act is the reason why most people have classified politicians as unrepentant liars who may never say anything reliable and can be trusted, in the ideal sense,  is not supposed to be so,  and if there is a working system,  no one will care about the personality of the political but will be focused on the working and efficacy of the system instead of depending of the so-called politicians.
3043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are physical exchanges in your neighborhood. on: August 16, 2023, 11:15:26 PM
Hmm... I really didn't know about that news, in which country was this event held? But based on the context you gave, I don't understand why make your personal exchanges public?.. If there are restrictions where you live, it would be best to do it anonymously, don't you think? On the other hand, answering your question, first of all the fate of physical cryptocurrency exchanges may vary depending on the regulation and adoption in your country… Since as cryptocurrencies gain popularity, some countries have implemented regulations to Supervise and control the activities related to them. .. In my case, physical exchanges are not seen very often, ignorance towards Bitcoin still abounds here... I hope this will change in the future and there will be more people who know what Bitcoin is at least..
Aside from law enforcement agencies, we also have security threat to be the major risk in making your bitcoin exchange public,  because people are found of seeing those with Bitcoin as being supper rich since the own the magic money but on the other hand,  if you operate online exchange that way your privacy will be highly protected and no one will ever know your worth or what you can afford or not.

Have you ever asked yourself why Binance which happens to be the world's biggest exchange doesn't have a physical office,  this is because office space costs much more in terms of bills and security,  as long as you can perform 100% from online,  it means online.
3044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anonymity is no longer a benefit of gambling with cryptocurrency. on: August 16, 2023, 11:08:58 PM

We still have a lot of decentralized casinos that doesn't require any one information or KYC verification before they allow the gambler to play on their casinos and at that, we can choose to only play on such casinos instead of handing over your identity documents to a third-party platform that you can have confidence in the safety of that information and documents.

But if you have any one of such that you trust their systems and reputation and you believe that your data are saved on them,  it means you can easily trust them with your data and if you have nothing to hide you won't have much to border about handing over a few verification doc.
Well, you do got a point specially on the platforms that you've been long time using or dealing or hanging out with on which it would really be that building up that kind of trust and confidence that if ever these places

goes south and make out that changes then you would really be complying things without having that kind of argument on your mind whether you should proceed or not. This is why it would really vary on each person.
Its true that it would really be that definitely be that a huge hindrance if ever we do tend to play on a site and then asking out some documents or verification. So far based on real experience with the current platforms that we do have in the market today.
Most of them are accepting deposits and could only potentially ask out some verification on the time that you do win big or having some violations. This had been
a known situation or common  scenario for most platforms today.

Yes most of the regulatory compliance casinos that require kyc to play on them are majorly interested in huge transactions such as demand for kyc on amount of $5,000 and above transaction amount,  be it deposits or withdrawal,  such casinos offer the players some level of privacy and decentralization if the gambler operates within that transactions limits,  as also again only when there a suspicious activities from the gambler them also will the casino request them to go through verification process.

I believe that many of the gamblers already know this fact and have settled with it that the casinos in that class,  have the right to request for KYC documents at any point their wish to without any limitation as long as there is a standing order from the beginning that there will be kyc.
3045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: August 16, 2023, 11:00:18 PM

It is in my personal believe that gambling for a long time or long term as you put it, does not change anything in the life of the gambler necessarily, like, it does not generally make gamblers lose his or her senses as you stated, it all depends on who is gambling and the mindset  of that person or gambler, i for myself have friends who have been gambling for several years now, they have their day jobs they go to, some are working in a company while others are running a business, and gambling for them have always been like a side hustle and one way to just have fun, most especially on weekends..

This is not to say that you are entirely wrong though , at least , i know that long term gambling can make someone forget themselves and become addicted, but like ive said, it depends on who is gambling and the kind or type of mindset they have.
I agree with that,  individual differences and ability differs and I have seen some folks who have strict measures that guide they gambling activities for a long term base,  and they formulated the characteristic and have being abiding by it by all means and it result is significantly showing in their way of life since the can be seen not to have overly gone into excessive/uncontrollable gambling, or haven't slid into excessive gambling,  but maintaining a balanced ground and putting everything under check.

But not all persons or individuals can develop such self-restriction and follow-up checks,  many who try that pattern of gambling have mostly fallen into deep addictions at the moment.
3046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 16, 2023, 10:52:32 PM

Now, whom are we going to believe?, just same yesterday or the day before yesterday rather, I was reading a news about this fight , and the news had it that Mark himself reached out to  Elon Musk to discus and schedule the date for the fight, this was through a chat, but Elon responded saying that he was not ready for the fight yet, and cant schedule a date, the news also shared a supposed screenshot of the chat which they tagged as leaked, I don't know how authentic this is though, but the fact that different news outlets are saying different things make the whole arrangement confusing and people like me do not know what to expect, or where to turn to for authentic and verified news about the fight.
From the news or rumours, it shows that Elon Musk may have shown some sign of resentment toward the physical battle with Mark Zuckerberg,  the billionaires suddenly realize that,  it not worth it to engage in physical combats just to prove no point,  and I am sure,  since Elin musk seems to be the older he have a lot at stake compared to. Mark who seems and look younger in terms of age.

I believe also more in the possible fact that, the two social media CEOs Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg are using the public to cash in a media stunt because the discussion has dragged along for a long and it should have happened already if they wanted to.
3047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: August 16, 2023, 10:00:40 PM

Most times it is not all about risk-taking. We all know that men take more risk than women, but this does not mean that women do not take risk at all. I have seen women who take tisk, but at least the take risk that can return reward. I mean a risk that is not that high but they are sure that they will have something in return. It is better to say that women do not like to lose money.
So in anything that they are not sure of they would likely not to venture into it. There is a difference between not being a risk-taker and not being ready to lose money. So, gambling is not all about risk-taking but all about losing money

I think that aspect where you said women don't like to lose money is just what will knock off women for not being risk takers in gambling. As far as gambling is concern, you have to be ready and prepared to lose money and this is where the male folks are considered better gamblers than women because from such high risk they take, they mostly win big than the female folks. When women hold tight to their money, they fear to stake higher and sometimes they back out but this is different with men because they are ready to lose money and when they are winning, the return is big.
I agree with the both of you,  and just like I said in my earlier comment,  woman are less risk takers because women don't naturally like spending they money on anything that doesn't give them physical and immediate satisfactions,  and that is why,  women don't take risk like men and if you put a scale to measure the risk tenancy between men vs women,  you will discover that the men will rank higher in risk tendency than the women.

This is a proven fact that many already settled with,  so women's involvement in gambling is also largely affected by this factor we mentioned above.
3048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: August 16, 2023, 09:55:32 PM
The first 45 minutes of the Super Cup between Manchester City and Sevilla has gone and the second half has started and almost going to the middle and we have seen that Sevilla is leading Manchester City.
I am not seeing the match because I am away from home, but going to the internet to check the score. I was surprised realizing that Kevin is not in Manchester City midfield and I knew that there will be a problem. The squad that Manchester City has brought to this match is something that Sevilla can follow up squarely. So if Sevilla wins this match I will not be so surprised.

If we can say about the first half that Sevilla was lucky to some extent, then in the first 15 minutes of the second half, Sevilla should have made the score 2-0. Right now they are just playing better than City and I don't understand what Guardiola is waiting for - where are the replacements? Or is he thinking of starting to correct the game at 0-2?
As usual, Sevilla is used to losing the Super cup to which ever club. I cannot remember when last Sevilla won the super cup or if they have won it before now. I didn't watch the match but checking the statistics, it seems that Sevilla was lucky to have scored the goal against Manchester City. The possession was like 72% to 28% in favour of Manchester City. The passes completed was very high on Manchester City compared to Sevilla. I was just thinking how Sevilla managed to stretch the match to penalty shoot ours.
It was a very tough match and Manchester City where very high on their pressing leaving their backline open making it easy for Sevilla who were very brilliant defensively to take advantage of it and counter them mostly in the first half, they used the opportunity in one of their counter attack to deliver the opening goal and a good cross from Cunha made the assist for a fine header from En-Nesyri in 25th minute of the game.
The abscent of kelvin Debruyne was really felt in the match but one thing i love about Pep Guardiola is that he has a lot of options in his team and Palmer proved that he was indeed a good replacement for Debruyne and scored an equaliser with a header, from a fine cross by Guardiol, the 2nd half was very tough for Sevilla because City pressed more and kept most of the possession even missed a lots of good chances having about 23 shots in total, full-time the match ended up in a full-time draw and led to a penalty shoot-out of which where Victorious scoring about 5 goals and Sevilla scored 4 and missed one, if city had lost the trophy this would have been the 2nd trophy they would had lost this season after losing the community shield to Arsenal however they had a good performance today just that Sevilla where more of the defending side and made it hard for the ball to be delivered to Halland.
Sevila performance was really great in today's match against Manchester city who happens to be the star club in the last season and more also one of the leading clubs in the first leg games of this season,  but in tonight match,  Sevila really thought them a great lesson because the held the club down up until the 90 minutes plus was over and also were able to end the match on a draw after a tough penalty shootout,  this performance is indeed what we expect from most of the smaller clubs giving the bigger clubs tough time, this is what excite football fans most,  and it also what makes football an exciting game.
3049  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anonymity is no longer a benefit of gambling with cryptocurrency. on: August 16, 2023, 09:40:25 PM

We do still have some old platforms which remain still to have that no kyc and including out XMR(Monero)
https://crypto.games/dice/monero and there are other games offered too with this kind of deposit option.

But in overall it is really just that these businesses are getting in line with government rules and regulations on which if ever they wont really be opposing on their laws or whatever that had been stated
then they cant really be able to operate and since majority of people would really be that preferring on sites or platforms which does have license then for sure they would really be following on something.
There are still some options that we could have today which it is really that good to see just like on crypto.games that i have put up above, which does still give out ton what crypto casinos should be.  Wink

3050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 16, 2023, 09:08:24 PM

If this goes into a penalty shootout I believe that Sevilla will repeat what they have done against Roma and win this title as well. Thinking about how they had been doing last season and even fought against the relegation zone, winning two titles this year already would be amazing for them.
The game have ended in penalty and both clubs are waiting for the time for referee to call the back and at this point I think it has become crucial for both clubs since it now a games of tactic and both are good in penalty shootouts and right now they both rely on lick to win this match since the penalty is all about luck and one team capitalizing on the weaknesses of the other to win.

So good luck to both teams,  because this is the most crucial part of the tournament and a winner must be made.

I do not know much about NFT either. Let us see other people's replies.

Thank you, lemme dive into the website and get more information, me I just hope say Dem never scam her oooo , 😭😭😭 because money hard for Niger now,

If them send you any random spam NFT it then means it an attempted scam and one of the ways to dictate such a scam is when they ask you to pay a fee to claim the NFT,  and if your sister has made such payment it then means that there are high chances that she has been scammed,  and my advice is not to send any money to the said wallet.

This method of scamming was used during the ICO and other crypto hypes,  where random coins will be dropped into your wallet without your involvement with the network and in an attempt to claim the spam coins they will demand for a fee,  that few is where their scam lies.

So it is better you ask your sis closely to know what exactly is going on and check the site out,  we need to properly educate those around us so as not to fall into scammers' traps.
3052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: August 16, 2023, 08:44:33 PM
I don't know the topic where this discussion should fall into but because a Spanish team is playing live right now with Man city which is Sevilla. I decided to post the update here. Man city is taking all possession and dominating the match but they are finding it difficult to score because Sevilla has locked up their defence. Nesyri scored with a header with the slight opportunity that he had to put his club on the winning side on the 27th minutes. I don't know what will be the fate of Man city in this first half but I think that they will be able to equalise the goal. This is the super cup final.
Man city 0-1 Sevilla.
At the moment 1:1 Servila seems to be very ready in this match haven't prepared for a bigger club like Manchester city,  if this match ended in a draw,  this shows that Sevilla is going to make a positive performance in this season and La Liga series will witness a lot of smaller clubs outperforming the bigger club.

If Sevilla gives man city this level of opposition football and hasn't been able to have equalize the first goal from Manchester City making the match to stand at 1:1 at almost full time,  this is a big win for Sevilla even though they may not have won the match a draw is still better compared to lose.
3053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: August 16, 2023, 08:37:29 PM
Despite this clear advise towards gambling and gamblers, it is imperative that people will always incline themselves to what they find pleasure and passion in doing. Gambling may start as fun but consistency and persistence might turn it into an addiction. If for any reason you have to gamble, gamble responsibly.
Great point you made here mate,  because an addict,  no matter the efforts of the external persons he/she will always do what he finds pleasure in,  I use to have a friend back then as an undergraduate student, who was addicted to gambling and as a student he was always running out of funds despite being the highest monthly incentive from family earner sometime he will use his school fees to gamble and when he becomes so depressing for him,  he will come out and seek for help to avoid gambling sometimes he will take positive steps toward recovering,  but along the line, he will slide back into his addictions again.

This made us to realize that he as an individual wasn't ready to get out of the mess situation he was in,  because when gambling without limit,  it then means that he can gamble everything away such an individual won't have anything to his name.
3054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are physical exchanges in your neighborhood. on: August 16, 2023, 07:57:04 PM

Yeah, I know of an identical incident in my country. Some police officers from my country stop a bus and arrest a man with his phone. Later we found out that the man was involved in gambling activity and at that time he was holding 22 Bitcoin in his mobile Bitcoin wallet. I am not sure if that man was dumb to do that or not conscious enough to carry his Bitcoin within his mobile phone.
I don't think there is nothing wrong with him having his bitcoin  along with him always but the truth  is that the country is messed  up and I don't know your country but if the guy can prove that his winnings are from gambling then I think their shouldn't be any reasons to hold him down except gambling is illegal  in your country .
On the other hand, if someone already has over 22 Bitcoins in his possession,  then what really must have hindered him from having a hardware wallet?
Well I'm sure only the victim can answer perfectly for himself but whatever the case  might be, we should learn how to trade with caution while handling Bitcoin  and cryptocurrency in general especially  if it has restrictions in our country
At some point I prefer not to go public with anything that will announce me as Bitcoin or cryptocurrency user this is because in my country, Bitcoin is not legalized yet but everyone use it just like..... so if you leave in such a country as mine, the best possible measure will be to avoid physical exchange or casinos because this is red spot activities and must be done underground to avoid possible suspicion that could lead to your privacy invasion by overzealous security personals, and just as you have said, having a 22 bitcoins outside is a big risk because the ops become vulnerable to attack I suggest,  the best possible practice should be to leave you wallet keys somewhere accessible, but don't carry wallet apps on your mobile while travelling or outside.

You don't know when you can come across some corrupt policemen who don't know the rule of law coming to search your phone, even though they don't have such right against the citizen, to search any citizen's phone you need a warrant.
3055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: August 15, 2023, 04:36:43 PM
Hmm interesting discussion, anyways I do not believe the facts that people are gambling for fun especially that saying "use spare money to gamble" i do not agree to that take because no one has spare money but every one has spare time (free time)  but on this gambling rules that's says GAMBLE AS LONG AS YOU ARE HAVING FUN I will say thats what gambling companies are use to tell people for them to come and play to lose, every gambler have the mindset of winning but if they starts losing they will want to recover their loss.

Haha Grin that is the reality mate,  people tend to give such advise always and the question that always ring in my head anytime I read such statement as using spare money to either gamble or invest in Bitcoin is a big fallacy because no money is spare money at some point every cent is very important and should not be regarded as spare money.

It's good to say,  use only the money that you can afford to lose to gamble,  at least that is fair enough,  because even if you look closely at it you will know that,  no money is easily lost,  all loss comes with pain in the ass,  but then losing a small personal money is is easy pain, than losing a loaned money.
3056  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: BTC/NGN price manipulation on Binance or what is this on: August 15, 2023, 01:14:43 PM
How come no one ever noticed this on that exact day?
Most of us or all we Nigerians on these forum will not see it because we prefer to just check the market price to exchange to naira and leave than to be constantly checking the price. Traders among us prefer  scalping and day trading using BTC/USDT.

It happened within 30 minutes. It rose to ₦122,886,640 on the first 15 minutes and decreased back to the normal price. It increased again in the following 15 minutes to ₦100,000,000 and decreased back to the normal price again.

No matter what the reason could be, it is just a way to manipulate. Assuming I have bitcoin and place BTC/NGN sell order at ₦100 million, that would have been a huge profit for me.
I understand,  I have noticed technical errors in the past when I want to sell Bitcoin on Binance sometimes the first buy offers on the list are always 3x price of Bitcoin at that time,  just like the first comment speculated,  it could be as a result of a newbie trader opening such position filled with error in the price he offers,  and just like you said I have also tried to cash in on that buy willing to sell for such buyer before and what I noticed mostly is that.

1: the buyer never pays until the time runs out and the order gets is cancelled.

2: some time along the line to place the sell other to such a high bitcoin-priced trader,  the system will pop up an error and the order will not go through.

So I think this is an error pricing from a newbie trader or just a deliberate action from a trader who just wants to spam the order book.
3057  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How you got your first Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2023, 12:39:05 PM
First let me welcome you once again, to our local board and e good the way you first throw the question here,  instead of the larger Bitcointalk community outside our local board reason being that,  you can easily be corrected here and given advice and suggestions that are compatible with your region/country.

First, since Bitcoin is not fully adopted here in Nigeria getting a job that pays you in Bitcoin may not be available because no organizations will take that route of paying staffs salaries in Bitcoin in Nigeria for now unless on a personal arrangement,  e.g we have some members of this local board who run physical business and have started to accept bitcoin as payment so unless you need such services or you provide service to such private business then you can get paid in Bitcoin.

Buying Bitcoin seems truly to be the best,  fast and easiest way to own your first Bitcoin since all you need is to own your wallet, and use an exchange to buy and store.

But aside from all those ways to own Bitcoin,  let me also mention one of the unique and popular ways to own Bitcoin that is popular to many Bitcointalk users both in the local board and the global community, which is through signature campaigns and bounties pay in Bitcoin and among the two signature campaigns have become the most popular and proven way to earn a bit, through your weekly incentives at least no matter what the amount, you will earn some Satoshi if you meet the manager requirements for payment of the week.

How I own my first Satoshi.

I earned the first bitcoin in my life through a Twitter campaign,  and it wasn't from this forum,  that year in 2015 when Twitter was the mainstream media for many projects,  I followed a user then and after some time he contacted me to that he has a simple job that he will pay me in bitcoin,  then I already have the basic knowledge about bitcoin and I quickly created a blockchain wallet which was one of the popular bitcoin wallets then,  and after the retweet job the user paid me 5$ in Bitcoin,  and that was the first time I feel the air of freedom since it transaction was very fast
3058  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is Stake.com allowed to lock account with $6,000 untill I lose it all? on: August 14, 2023, 05:59:04 PM

I don't wish to dwell on this matter any longer, but I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Personally, I feel that this is a highly questionable practice, allowing users to continue gambling while demanding verification for withdrawals, and then conveniently erasing the tickets and evidence. It appears to be nothing short of shady and potentially predatory to me.
Even crypto exchange where I trade, (all of them that ive used), still allow customers to trade, buy, sell, coins while the customer is suspended from withdrawing due to one issue or the other, this is something I have personally experienced myself on not just one or two exchanges but on as many of them I've used and had minor to serious withdrawal issues.
So I do not see this practice as evil in any way, you simply was the one who decided to keep gambling amid your withdrawal issues, and unfortunately lost all your winnings.. So trying to now turn back and blame the casino for the result of your own decisions is rather not fair..

When the Casino asked you to pass kyc verification before you can withdraw, if you know you aren't ready to lose any part of that money, you should have abstained from gambling at that time and pursue the kyc verification till the end.

I got engaged in a discussion with a friend the other day and when we were talking , he mentioned a new casino he just registered on and their demanding for kyc even before he could make a deposit,  and at that point,  I told him to to go ahead with passing the kyc if he want to use the casino,  because before you create an account on a casino,  you should have already read the terms and conditions to know if their are kyc compliance or not.

So the necessary thing need to be done at first,  to avoid future incontinences such as in the case of ops.

I don't no wat it will profits u to mix interpret someone topic.
Well I assumed to take this as a misinterpretation of my comment even though I already apologize before I started my comment,  you have the right to make whatever interpretations you wish to but I will put every efforts to make sure I pass the right information and points that I have carefully formulated that I think it will be helpful to you and other members of bitcointalk.

My friend please note that,  English is not our native language and at that we may read wrong meaning to each other comments here in the forum,  which is why many of us both newbies and legendary alike have some misconceptions with ourselves based on diffenrces in our thoughts knowledge and experiences.

It is only in Africa that we think that a critic is an energy just because his thoughts oppose ours,  well my friend I wish you whatever you wish me and wish yourself.

Based on our common goal in Bitcointalk forum which is what connect me and you to involve I a discussion that is why I advised us from Nigerian mostly newbies to get involved in cryptocurrency related discussions and we should try to aligned our threads content with relevant cryptocurrencies information that are provable verifiable and tested.

Because of the need for financial knowledge and and risk management that we need coming from a third-world country like Nigeria,  a few of us are lucky to be exposed to contemporary inventions and innovations that can help us in our poor microeconomic system.

Engaging in cryptocurrency related discussion in the local board will help most of our newbies to build the needed knowledge that will guide them to become quality members of the forum in the future.

I remember very well that only here, on the forum, every day we found dozens of scam projects and most of them were based on fake technical documents. Sites were written on the knee, heaps of shitcoins were created, and accordingly, the number of scams grew exponentially.
I cannot say that today's time has changed anything. There are only a few alternative coins that are worthy of attention, and these are, oddly enough, not new projects; everything else, sooner or later, turns into dust.
I used limited to portray a viewpoint that could consolidate the level of scams, and fake projects in the now vs then, I don't mean to take you out on context that perceives it as if there were no scams in those days.

We have tons of scam projects way back in 2017-2018 down to 2020/and up till now,  but if we compared the ratio of the level and extent that scam projects that have gained popularity between now and then,  it clearly shows that we are faced with more scam in the current time compared to when we don't have new hypes like meme coins,  NFTs and the rest.

Although,  each period comes with its own unique hype projects/developments that end up putting holes in investors' pockets thereby killing investors' appetite and trust in the general crypto ecosystem.
