3042  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Want to fish in our waters - it's easy. on: February 16, 2020, 02:44:57 PM
people can't do whatever they want, god has natural regulators, either through economic and evironmental disaster or by beast, there where once rumers of kraken killing sailors and fishers those are true

Does that mean we have to wait until those natural regulators get triggered? Let's drop the legends and focus on real effects of careless human behavior.
If you fish or hunt too much it will destroy the species in that certain region and you'll have no more next year, but what if the damage becomes permanent? We have to do what we can to prevent it from happening which means we need regulation.

I live near a forest and see what people can do. They throw away garbage, leave broken bottles, come at night to cut trees because they have a fireplace but don't want to buy wood, about once a year somebody brings an unwanted dog here. One time some idiot brought his dog and tied it to a tree...
3043  Economy / Economics / Re: What will be the affect of Valentine day on Bitcoin Price on: February 15, 2020, 05:30:27 PM
And it dumped a bit.  Wink Crazy people will say it's because of the Valentine's, analysts will say it's because of TA and conspirationists will think it's manipulation.
Life goes on, Bitcoin is still here and is not going anywhere.
3044  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Mining shipping container location on: February 15, 2020, 05:18:38 PM
There's a lot of regulation at work here because some countries will require you to measure its influence on the surroundings (how loud it is, how hot it gets, if there's a danger of fire). It's probably going to be treated like a power generation unit and I've seen these set up on temporary locations.
I'll give you an example of how what used to be public space was adapted in some buildings around me.

We had garbage chutes built in and the garbage would fall into a big container stored in a gadare-like building at the bottom of the block of flats. In similar buildings these places only bread rats and people voted they'd rather carry garbage outside than have rats running in those chutes, so they were never used, so every block has a couple of garages with a very convenient access to the street. The city allowed citizens to buy these and they used them for a range of things from storing motorcycles to holding backup generators. They even opened  bicycle repair shops and laundromats in there. If you could find a similar uoccupied space nearby it would be a much safer place to keep your hardware.

People have been converting attics, basements, laundry rooms, basically everything you can think of. It's just a matter of getting all the paperwork in order.
3045  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Want to fish in our waters - it's easy. on: February 15, 2020, 04:47:29 PM

well if you are hunting down fishermen from EU countries because they fish in uk waters, you are then a nazi, you are a socialist benefitting a small english based fishing cartel, and racially disadvantage european fishermen.

The EU creates winners and losers, germany btw. has to carry the biggest logistic loads regarding road maintenance.

EU is something great a bigger market bigger economy, while nation states are backward and racist trash.

I'm not a supporter of the Eu, but I could play the devil's advocate and ask if you really believe that everything should be free and unregulated.
Currently, you need licenses for fishing, even with your little fishing rod in a nearby lake. You need a license to sail, to shape the riverbanks and so on.
What if you could do whatever you wanted without any rules? People would be fishing by electrocuting fish with car batteries, throwing fireworks, sail speedboats wherever they please disrupting wildlife.

EU regulations are usually stupid but I see the need for at least some licensing.

One thing is certain, you'd want to be a face mask producer or seller these days.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51363132
Although this is a tragedy it's intriguing how the opportunity is sometimes wating to manifest itself. If you had a case of face masks stashed somewhere in the basement, you could now sell them for 3 times the price and they'd all get sold in a matter of minutes.
3047  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus Outbreak on: February 14, 2020, 10:09:33 PM
So China was conductig research on viruses ad mutating the old ones to produce new strains in the middle of the city, just a few hundred meters from a busy market. They are as careless as the Soviets were in some of their experiments.
The world is gong to go to shit and I fully understand preppers with their remote cabins and underground bunkers. We are bound to destroy ourselves.
3048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig W. only claims to be Satoshi, because he knows the real Satoshi is dead? on: February 14, 2020, 09:59:19 PM
To me Craig is an opportunist. He saw an opening and just barged in. Such things sometimes happen on big parties or even funerals where narcissists seeking attention come in and form this aura of untouchability around them. I'm sure you've seen this in the movies where some guy comes to a wedding and hugs the bride. She hugs him back and invites him in because she thinks it's her husband's friend or family. Just look what Craig has gained when he took on the role of Satoshi. He's being invited to conferences, parties, people listen to him, he's a VIP. Have you listened to some of his speeches? He doesn't say anything important. Throws a joke here and there, parades the stage like a cock, adds a few curses here and there... All his talks are irrelevant and don't bring anything to the table, it's all just for show.
3049  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy only bitcoin or take chances in altcoin casino? on: February 14, 2020, 09:39:59 PM
Altcoins are a gamble, you're right about that. The best part about it is that they do not go up and down, some of them go only down with small insignificant pumps along the way and the whole altcoin community is trying to catch those pumps and sell with a profit. That's why you mostly lose with alts. Bitcoiners aim at long term investment and holding while altcoiners treat their coins like shit and really want to be in fiat or BTC and are greedy.
I say buy BTC.
3050  Economy / Economics / Re: Justin Sun gifted Warren Buffett bitcoin and tron on: February 09, 2020, 05:54:14 PM
So he think he can convert Buffet to invest in Cryptocurrency? I don't think so he cannot be bought by just a few millions this guy has a tons of it, if he wants to market his coin there are better ways but not a publicity like this that I doubt will yield results.
Shitcoin will always be a shitcoin. Tron is just a pump and dumps coin and I don't know why there are still people believing this Justin Sun. Money talks. That's how money is powerful for sure.
I hope they talk more about major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Warren Buffet is smart enough for sure.

I agree and Sun must be making tenths of millions from it if he's able to spend 4.5 on a dinner with someone who isn't going to change his mind. What was the point of it?
Warren is an old man who is now riding the wave of the money he made many years ago. He's not going to switch from fiat to crypto or see value in it because he's been using fiat for the last 80 years and doesn't have time or the knowledge to start using digital decentralized money in the last few years of his life, because let's be honest, he's not going to live much longer.
All this TRON hype and promises are going to turn into fiat money on Sun's private account.
3051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: RUSSIA develop electromagnetic missiles! on: February 09, 2020, 05:33:53 PM
These missiles would be really useful against terrorists. For example, you can stop a massive ongoing drone attack by one shot instead of wasting costly interceptor missiles to deal with them separately.

Or risk your anti air missiless hitting a passenger airliner instead of some military fighter jets.

Those missiles would be very dangerous if there are countries that hold them apart from Russia or US.
I wonder how this system is going to work but I don't want to see them in use.
The tension in Middle East is on fire and i hope if it is a good idea to keep creating weapons that an be used there,

Why apart from Russia or US? Are weapons in the hands of these two not dangerous? They are both known to test them out in the field.
3052  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Want to fish in our waters - it's easy. on: February 09, 2020, 05:29:17 PM
Besides, where are "your" waters? Why do you use British licensing to have something to do with "your" waters?

British waters are public. Your waters are yours. Public means that everybody in Britain can use them. Why is it that government needs to get paid (licensing) for people using what belongs to them?

Cool

For the same reason why forests that are public also are not public.
You can walk into a public forest and, gather herbs and mushrooms, but you need a license to hunt and cut trees. What is available to the public is in reality very limited. In most countries you need a license to fish in lakes and rivers, to sail, to put a water wheel in and make your own electricity. Public means you can go there and watch, that's it Cheesy
3053  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [society] paying taxes on: February 09, 2020, 05:19:49 PM

I can agree with most of those statement minus one.  Military.   As former USN myself, I have seen the positive impact that a forward deployed US presence has in the world. In the early '90's there was some mess of a coup going on in Haiti. Haitian citizens were fleeing the fight in droves, jumping on anything that would float and trying to paddle to our mainland.  Our USN and Coast Guard was saving them at sea and we turned half our ship into the crew-nicknamed "Haitian Hotel."  With several hundred refugees on board, we docked in Guantanamo where we could bring on more USN and USMC support by way of food, clothing, and medical care. On several deployments to the Mediterranean, we embarked on Humanitarian missions while visiting foreign ports, helping to deliver food to the poor in the area, and joining with other humanitarian agencies to construct schools and other stuff to help the locals. When disaster strikes, other nations look to the US military for help. We can deliver food and supplies within hours or days to almost anywhere in the world. And we often do so.
Thats just the nice guy part.

I like the nice guy part, but don't you think that some of the US military expenses could be cut? For instance that whole F35 fiasco that's like a money eating and smoke farting monster. Think of the nice guy things this money could buy. More rescue ships, stronger coast guard, maybe some nice underwater supply facilities for submarines and ocean research, more space exploration...

Quote
Without a forward deployed US Military, foreign aggression can go unchecked. Some world leader can decide they want to invade some other weaker country when they feel like it (Iraq/Kuwait for example). With a worldwide US presence, every ill-tempered foreign leader knows big brother is always nearby and watching, and they have to think twice before doing something stupid. They know consequences in response to their actions can be delivered within minutes.

And if you want to take a liberal approach to the military, we are providing paid jobs, full medical, and full benefits to over 1.4 million Americans who are willing to risk their lives to help others.

Other countries have to wait their turn to invade Iraq because the US milirtary was first. Do you really feel like the US military presence is helping keep the peace? The us had in fact taken part in the highest number of military conflicts in the last century. They invaded Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, but when they were needed to keep the peace they weren't there. Big brother sat and watched as Russia invaded Ukraine a few years back.
I feel like the US military is abusing its power and putting hands into every cookie jar out there, especially when there's some money to be made.
3054  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [society] paying taxes on: February 09, 2020, 04:06:41 PM
If I had to pay I'd include some various other departments because to me personally it's important that road are built and maintained, there's electricity, Internet. I'd surely support fire department and some basic healthcare, although I believe that healthcare and education should be private.

For me personally, the state should have money to provide all the basic infrastructure (city lights, garbage disposal, electricity, crisis management, basic healthcare like emergency services, CDC, but all the things like dental care, vaccines and such should be financed by citizens). There should be some money dedicated to research, space exploration, but I'd give 0 to the military and leave only basic defence forces and mostly stationary stuff like missile batteries, anti air defenses and such.

paying taxes in the usa is actually voluntary.

Just like obeying the police is your personal choice. Wink

3055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun had a dinner with Warren Buffet! on: February 07, 2020, 12:15:14 PM
It's just a show for the masses. What can you learn from an old guy who hates cryptocurrencies like Warren?
He's not going to have fun on that dinner because which young guy has ever had fun with someone in his late 80s?
He spent so much money on this it has to feel like a waste. 4.5 mill is a lot of money, even for a rich boy. Most of us don't see such money at all and for this price you can buy a very nice house anywhere in the world. Is an evening with that old fart worth a whole house or a couple apartments?
The only reason for spending money like this is to get even more if it gets enough people to buy his shitcoin and increase the value of his investment. If spending 5 million makes your stash worth 6 million more than it was, it's not a wasted anymore.
3056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Correct to $6,500? on: February 07, 2020, 11:43:28 AM
To put it simply, this already happened, so less likely now than it was at $10K before when there were signs pointing to this amount of downside.
Now there is not the same signs pointing to $6.5K, maybe $7-8K, but just like $3.2K, I think $6.5K is unlikely to occur again.

That's true. There was a huge bearish pressure from people who wanted to get quick gains after buying at 6 and 7k but once we go past 9k all of this is gone. Most traders who bought in the early stages of this bull run, back when we all thought that it's just another correction in the long bearish trend (like the run to 12k in August) have already taken profit and went back in, or simply left the market to enjoy the profit and wait for either another correction or a confirmation of the bull market that we may be witnessing right now.
3057  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC restoring faith in bull run. on: February 07, 2020, 11:30:00 AM
Dont get your hopes too high. Just because were breaking off the support doesnt mean that this will continue all over to previous ATH. There is chance but make it a practice to always stay low and be always sure. Never become too greedy if others are cashing out or selling already join the league dont expect it more you'll end up like the last bull run when it fade keeping high hopes until he never sell what was supposedly called gains now becomes an asset loss.

I wouldn't call 10k "low". The current price is already quite high if we take into account that a few months ago we were at 6k and considering a drop to 5k.
Those who do TA based on waves say that we're already witnessing the last one before a correction. I'm not one of them but this isn't something we should ignore.
Are we in a bull run? Yes, but breaking 10k is crucial. I believe we can reach 15k before the halving but there could be a correction before that.
3058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction of Tom Lee 27k$ on: February 07, 2020, 11:17:14 AM
2+ years later and he's still making the same prediction. lame! Roll Eyes

we didn't range for 2+ years below $20k just to go up another $7k. once bitcoin breaks above the 2017 ATH, we're looking at exponential gains. the chart could go vertical like 2013 or 2017.

$27k + an order of magnitude sounds more like it. Wink

I'll drink to that! If we break 20k it's not going to stop at 25 or 27. Historically Bitcoin always went exponential after breaking ATH so we should at least expect it to double after 25k. Bad thing is that it's going to start another bubble that will surely deflate again back to 10k after reaching the target and could push us into a 3 year long bear market (because the cycles are getting longer). That said, who wouldn't want to see 50k, even for a day? Smiley
3059  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-16] Chainalysis traced $2.8 billion crime bitcoin sent to Binance Huobi on: February 02, 2020, 06:07:43 PM
Lol, You can't be serious! Anything can be used for illegal purposes. It's like saying the smartphone companies should embrace the fact that their cell phones are used during/planning robberies, they should do something about it by placing filters on some words like a getaway driver etc. So that robberies can be prevented. Do you see how insane your argument sounds? Illegal activities are a human problem, not a currency problem.

P.S By fiat supporters i meant the banks themselves  Roll Eyes

There's much more you can do with a mobile phone than robberies.

If they know the coins were transferred there it should be easy to find usernames and IPs. One one hand I support anonymity, but I also believe that if there's no doubt that your client is a thief you should deny him service and send the money back to the people he stole from. I support social justice not government-imposed justice.
3060  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The real education are not taught at school!! on: February 02, 2020, 06:02:19 PM
I've worked as a teacher for a year and I wouldn't say that shool is a waste of time. Especially the primary school. You can comparehow important it is by putting an average European next to an average person from Africa, where even primary education is lacking. Some of those people from Africa and the Middle East moved to Germany and here's the result:
Quote
Problems were particularly evident among students who have to attend so-called “literacy courses” because they lack reading and writing skills. The proportion of participants taking these types of courses has now reached 22 percent.

School is supposed to teach you how to learn, give you the basics and allow you to expand your knowledge. It teaches you how to read and write, how to speak in foreign languages, how to count and fill forms, how to write letters and applitactions. All good schools do that and without it you'll be lost in the modern world. Who cares about Tinder and social media, what is important is for you to be able to compile knowledge on your own, learn how to tackle problems, how to analyse situation and adapt. It teaches you to work on your own at home, it teaches you to work in a group of peers.

There'a many things I'd change, but that doesn't undermine the basic function of schools. They are important, they could simply teach more about history, economics, society, finances, politics... I'd be happy if my children didn't have to analyse boring poems, had less P.E. and were not taught religion.
