Hi Microguy,

I solved 10 blocks over the course of the morning 4 are still in my transaction list, the other 6 have disappeared and are no longer in the transaction list, additionally my client shows a count of 11 transactions but there are only 4 in the list :/

Would be cool to understand how and why this is happening?

What version are you running and does you block height match the explorer: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

I just solved a block!

What's up with so many updates via email?

This is to keep the community informed. There's an op-out link in the bottom of each message.

103000 blocks before valid?

The new code changes take effect after block 103000.
3045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 04, 2013, 08:47:38 PM
Gave this a try and my first block find was rejected. I don't think your patch worked.

The patch does not take effect until block 103000. After that block, please allow a few hours for difficulty to normalize.

I cant get the wallet to run on ubuntu 12.04 said error while loading shared libs libminiupnpc.so.5 cannot open shared object. I have the package installed but it still wont run

Take a look here and see if this helps: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=764.0

Just wanted to let ya'll know the difficulty algorithm has been fixed in the latest update. The hashrate should correct itself over the next day or two.
3047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 04, 2013, 01:53:58 PM
[UPDATE] Mandatory Update 0.7.1.4 (Difficulty fixes)

Download Links: http://gldcoin.com/get-started/

Notes: The difficulty algorithm has been fixed. This is a mandatory update, so be sure to do it before the hard fork at 103000 occurs. The hashrate should correct itself over the next day or so. Sorry for the rather frequent updates of late, we are trying to get the situation resolved as quickly as possible.
3048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 04, 2013, 04:24:01 AM
Over 200 confirms and I still haven't gotten a transfer I made over 6 hours ago.  I made it from a 0.7.1.2 wallet to a 0.7.1.3 wallet on different computers.  I'm afraid to upgrade the other wallet at the risk of losing those coins from what other people are saying.  Losing coins is completely unacceptable.

The only way you can lose valid coins is by losing your wallet. There is no reason to fear upgrading. The people talking about losing coins were mining "magic coins" on their own chains when the network was segmented.
3049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 03, 2013, 10:07:11 PM
After 0.7.1.3 upgrade I deleted my local files (my wallet was empty anyway) and redownloaded the blockchain so everything is clean. I assume I am on the right chain now. I still got the block my CPU miner has found, 328 confirmations, transaction ID: 714f5b1d58f99cdf65b7a319150613b26024accae594e10a1060000eb0c02365

Still cgminer is giving nothing but rejects. From what I read here I am not the only one with that problem. Anyone who got cgminer to mine properly and tells us the settings?
Maybe the new protection is somehow triggered on the higher hashrate the GPU miner produces?

You can always verify whether you're on the correct blockchain by referring to the block explorer: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

In regards to mining, the window for mining blocks is small, in that sense its more of a lottery system now than who's got the largest hash-power. We are still monitoring the network for irregularities but have been unable to confirm any definitive problems at this time.

Please stayed tuned as the developers will be reporting after they've had the opportunity to analyze and discuss their findings.

Honestly looks like something fishy is going on behind the scenes.

Im sure someone must have known everyone would loose 1000's of GLD from updating the client, but yet no mention.

We would have no motivation to do that. Please remember that this is experimental software. Thank you.

3051  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 03, 2013, 07:56:21 PM
MicroGuy why would delete the messages, from yesterday were produced 640 block, 590 block have been confirmed, and at one point they were all gone. Why did this happen?

Sorry. Maybe you were in the middle of an edit but the post made no sense to me. To answer your question, apparently you were on the wrong chain. I will ask the development team to confirm. Thank you for your patience.
3052  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 03, 2013, 07:43:50 PM
Something is very wrong here not only lose the 9000 GLD that had sapped for some time, now you can undermine all blocks rejects. apparently there are no solutions. GOODBYE GLD

Akumaburn seems to be busting his ass trying to fix this. It's new stuff, there's going to be kinks.

Apologies if I came across a bit cranky earlier... never post before coffee. I hold a considerable amount. Like what you guys are doing with this coin.

Respect what I have in fact my comment did not say anything that was not true or offensive. Unlike disrespect you if taking an update knowing what was going to happen and yet said nothing. So if it's a lack of respect.

You said there was no solution which is ridiculous. We don't even know for sure if there's a problem.

I'm getting ready to start removing posts that are FUD or that are completely unintelligible. There's no reason that a reader should come into this thread and have to sift through the lies to find the truth. Let's please try to have an intelligent and sincere discussion.

Thank you.

We were anticipating some network issues, that's one reason we requested that Cryptsy pause trading.

Remember, yesterday the network was highly segmented and now today everyone is on the same chain. This is progress. We are now investigating the issues affecting mining and will be making any necessary fixes as warranted. This coin has evolved well past its humble copy-and-paste beginnings and is now starting a new dawn as a unique and viable currency. Changes of this level and magnitude are complex and bugs are to be expected. Rest assured that you're in capable hands and that these issues will be soon resolved.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
3055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 03, 2013, 02:40:00 PM
Everyone needs to make sure they are running v 0.7.1.3.

There were a couple of pools that went off on their own chain after block 100K. Even after being notified at least one pool apparently continued to mine the wrong chain. The official block height can always be confirmed by using the block explorer: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/Goldcoin.

installed the latest version 0.7.1.3 but I rejecta almost everything

To the best of my understanding this is normal. You are probably triggering the new 51% defense system. The developers will be closely monitoring the network over the next few days to ensure that the system is functioning optimally.
3057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 03, 2013, 06:27:31 AM
gld not in cryptsy?

We requested that Cryptsy pause Goldcoin for a few hours to allow the updated clients to reach consensus.

The new GoldCoin 51% defense is the first of its kind and there have been a few unexpected kinks related to the original bitcoin code and its memory overflow protection. The latest update is now being compiled and will become available within the hour.

The Goldcoin development team has just released mandatory software update V 0.7.1.2.

This update is designed to correct network chain fragmentation caused by a bug in the previous version.

The development team is currently on standby in the event you require technical assistance.

So what will happened with solo mined GLDs?

If you're on the official chain (as indicated by the block explorer) you should be good: http://gld.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/Goldcoin. Please stand by for additional information. Thank you for your patience.
