Anybody get the open source drivers working? I tried to install fglrx on 16.04 with kernel 4.4 but couldn't get it going.
3062  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: August 29, 2017, 01:26:27 PM
If these banned posters were just being trolls, then I have no problem with it. I mean these posters are staring at scientific evidence in the face and denying its truth and validity in a science forum itself.
Sez who?

Methinks it is the Reddit forum and it's moderators that are denying science. Most of the posts there are auto generated by the forum moderators, and most are pure propaganda.

However, let's assume you are correct, and some poster stared scientific evidence in the fact and denied its truth and validity. Let's say he vigorously defended his incorrect position, and all of the Reddit moderators and visitors were unable to argue down the convincing presentations made.

That's called DEBATE.

In the absence of that, you don't have a science forum. You have a forum ran by Deniers of Science.

So here you go, buddy.

The crust of the earth is elastic, which is obvious because gravity has formed it into a near sphere. Worry about sea level rise is groundless, because whether the h20 is ice or water, the same weight pushes inward, and the forces will equalize. A bit more weight, a bit more compression, and hence there will be no sea level rise, even if all of Greenland were to melt.

Either refute this with science, or shut the fuck up.

Gravity is bullshit,  it's an unproven theory.

^^^ There's no drivers for clay to work with, we're all waiting for AMD to get their shit together and release new drivers, linux is completely fucking broken and windows sucks.
3064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: August 29, 2017, 05:59:03 AM

Blame me??? Fuck you cocksucker!

Who took the Jam out of your Donuts???

AMD did when they sold me a GPU that doesn't work (under Linux).
3065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: August 29, 2017, 02:11:57 AM
I've found a stock of rx560 4gb at a good price, Linux drivers actually work on these cards so I'm feeling calmer now...

AMD has working beta drivers for the 550 they should release them ASAP because I'm not happy with my new paperweight.
3066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: August 29, 2017, 01:07:49 AM
So I got an RX 550 4GB to test it out and tossed it in with 3 other RX 480s...

"Selected OpenCL device index 3 doesn't exist."

I can't believe this, the amdgpu-pro driver doesn't support this card. There's no fucking Linux driver for this card!  Cry

Windows drivers don't support more than 8 GPUs, what is this nonsense?Huh?

The Vega hashes at 41 MH/s (ETH) for 300W... GARBAGE! and there are no other cards left. NVIDIA, fucking useless!!!

HEY FUCK YOU AMD!!!!

edit:

Instant paperweight, let me explain;

I can't return it because there's nothing wrong with the hardware or the Windows drivers included on the CD it came with. I can't use it because my Windows box is a free win 10 upgrade from win 7 that was upgraded from win XP. What CD-KEY do I use? The OS is tied to the mainboard and the mainboard has all the pcie slots fried, I'm using the on board video now. There's more to this key issue too, Windows Store is broken because it's confused over the keys and it refuses to load the calculator and other apps, the OS literally can't even add 1+1.

The Linux OpenCL is 100% broken and has been for months, AMD does nothing. My new mainboard to replace the fried one has 13 pcie slots but Windows only supports 8 GPUs, that's if I buy a new copy of Windows (throwing good money after bad, I think not).

I got sold the RX 550 working with Linux, it states so on their web page. I WAS MISLED!!!!!!!

Windows supports more than 8 gpus. it's the drivers that don't support more then 8 gpus. You can have a rig with 8 AMD and 8 Nvidia gpus.
AMD will release i driver that supports more gpus, don't know when.
I've seen people mining with RX 550, so i guess the problem isn't AMD but your system.

Blame me??? Fuck you cocksucker!

I've been doing a lot of research recently and I've found the new $800 RX VEGA can do up to 41 MH/s @ 300W.

Whoever the AMD CEO is she needs to stripped naked, tied to a post and publically caned with one lash for every MH/s under 80 MH/s and one lash for every Watt over 200W.

First it was not amd claims, second from badwitch calculation vega is capable do 80 MH/s and i think big mining farms have optimized miner (cause vega was sold out in first days even if is poor in gaming) , I think Claymore have asm for vega but just deley it for big mining farms sake ... It is business...

They're a big enough company they should make proper drivers for Linux and Windows, this crappy mining performance is probably mirrored with crappy gaming performance.

Also, what about the 300W? My HD 7990 uses 300W and gets 55 MH/s (MUSIC,EXP,UBQ) and the RX VEGA is doing 41 MH/s with the same power consumption OMGWTFBBQ.

I can't imagine any farm of size messing with all of these little tools on every startup, so they must burn the bios with volts and clocks.

PBE can't do it, so ... what does?

Like they use Windows - that would be stupid. They use Linux, usually, and either VBIOS mods or tools like mine on *nix to access the VRM directly and control it.

I fried all the pcie slots on my windows box, may I ask what *nix tools you use? Specifically read and writing bios, a bios settings editor and monitoring GPU stats.

On windows I use ATIWinfLash, PolarisBiosEditor and GPU-Z.

atiflash - command line one. I'd have to go find the public one if you need a copy, but I could. OhGodATool (written by my owner & I) for VBIOS edits, as well as a couple private tools I wrote (amdtimingcopy, the wolfmctools suite for memory timing fine-tuning, and shit.) The only other tool I use for live monitoring (and the only one I know exists that isn't super under wraps) is my own; wolfamdvolt/ohgodavolt, which I've shown on BCT before (NSFW): http://lovehindpa.ws/screens/wolfamdvolt.jpg

Well if your owner allows it git would be a great place to make any tools you feel like sharing available.

I think after ETH and Zcash claymore miners, its this ones turn to get Baffin support
(and Vega for you rich people, of course)

I'm looing at my budget (thanks highoncoins, MF) and my new BTC pro board can be populated with a single vega or full of 560 4GB getting double the hash rate with half the power.

Since the only RX470/480/570/580 cards currently available are all overpriced, I've been looking real hard at the RX560/460 cards as they appear to be the most profitable cards for cryptonote in terms of power consumption. I think XMR has the potential to be the #2 crypto next year.
3076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: August 27, 2017, 11:52:17 AM

sgminer, windows and 470, not 460.

It can do close to 900h/s when using the correct timings/clocks.
And by "eth bios and clocks" i mean using a bios that has timings and gpu/mem clocks adjusted for ETH mining, not for XMR.

how curious. are you claiming that you're getting actual "close to 900h/s" on 470 4gb on eth config? what version of sgminer? and what kernel?

He's edit and copied his memory timings from 1750 to 2000 in the vbios.

I don't copy timings; mine are full-custom. I know how GDDR5 operates. And it was with a 480 I got over 900, but 470s should do better than what was stated earlier.

When my BTC pro board arrives I'm expecting my RX480s to do over 750 H/s, this Gigabyte board I'm using is soooooo slow (630 H/s). I've got identically configured miners both with Gigabyte boards but different versions. The older board the miners hash at least 10% slower with the same software.

Some select cards let you copy the 1500, those hash insanely fast.

Wait so me getting 416 H/s on ploaris 11 on claymore/windows with whatever drivers windows automatically installed is actually blazing fast then.

My only question now is how is he using only 90W on ploaris 10? Is cryptonote just energy efficient?

edit:

I'm happy with 630 H/s on my RX480s, the Gigabyte mainboards on my rigs are the cheapest/slowest ever this is normal.
3079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: August 27, 2017, 11:33:00 AM
with eth bios and clocks (that means lower gpu clock) i get 780-790 h/s @ 90w from wall with 470 4gb.
So you guys are obviously doing something wrong.

Are these numbers from wolf's miner on Ubuntu? "eth bios and clocks" that makes no sense? My RX460 is running at stock speeds, the clock settings in the conf file do nothing.

Using Windows and shitty "blockchain" drivers?

I'm using your miner 0.4 on Ubuntu 16.04 with the latest amdgpu-pro driver. I want to see a screenshot 790 H/s on Polaris 11 or it didn't happen.

He said 470 4G, that would be Polaris 10, IIRC. And I've gotten higher, so I really don't doubt him.

OHHH 470, sorry I missed that. heh

I'm not paying Microsoft $160 for windows if it can't handle multi gpu systems.
