Our initial modules (Rev 0) had reliability issues due to the PCB layout (Printed Circuit Boards).  We received Rev 2 PCBs this morning and they are currently being assembled.

Do you reckon they had the good sense to equip the PCBs with 4 PCIe power connectors this time around?

They'll likely be pushing about 600W into these boards...

I hope to god they learned their lesson from the likes of Bitfury. I also hope it's not 600 per board cause that would be stupidly ridiculous. I am expecting 300W per board though. If you look at this picture you'll notice two 8pin PCIE connectors - one on each side of the board.

https://hashfast.com/hashfast-announces-fastest-bitcoin-mining-chip-in-the-world/

click the first image and enlarge it to "full screen"

There was an update from them a while back saying that they "reopened the BJ (and Sierra?) cases installed upgraded power supplies", I don't see why they would have to do that if the power draw issue was resolved... or did they do that (and likely cost them more to open, replace and repack) so we could all put another upgrade board and not need to swap PSUs?  So does that mean that they are kind enough to save us the money that we would have to spend to power 2 boards?  Humm....

2x6pin PCIe connectors are sufficient for 600W as long as they are on seperate sets of PSU leads. The problems experienced by [very few] bitfury users were almost exclusively caused by using a single lead with 2 plugs on it.

The config allows for 6+ and 6- wires. This is sufficient because in comparison, I have antminer systems running happily using only 4+ and 4- wires from the ATX leads and that is around 500W

sorry sushi, could you remove me from the list? I decided to sit out this round Smiley

I'm out as well and sent a pm requesting a refund of my BTC a few hours ago. As soon as I receive that refund in full I will be leaving positive trust for Cxboy. He has acted honestly and  honorably throughout this whole thing and has put in a huge amount of effort.

Same.

+1

pm sent with refund address. If this can be re-organised and tried again (maybe 200 units instead of 500?) I would once again be interested in between 11-30 units depending on price. (0.5BTC each would be nice if delivery is expected mid-January)

This GB simply got out of control, at no fault to CX. price changes, paypal issues, and buyers dropping out are always an issue with a group buy this large.

Hi,

You should receive a pm from me about the refund by now.

Thanks for the support!!! Maybe, it's just not our year this time...

refund received, thank you! I sent a small gift to your address as thanks

Sushi, I still haven't received the replacement cable so my current miner hasn't been in use since I got it.  You said you sent it out Thursday so I hope to get it Monday.  That would be 17 days of not mining with a 4.25 BTC miner, which is lost money. Sad

I PMd you about a possible discount on a 2nd unit as compensation.  I believe that's fair.  Please respond.  Thanks!

you are missing a 8-pin ribbon cable and not mining as a result?

go down to redioshack/source/citrcuit city or any other store that sells wires and electrical tools. find a 8-pin flat cable or buy 6 seperate [thin] wires. ghettorig the wiring yourself.

if you cant find a connector to match or lack the soldering/ghettorigging skills to do it, im sure you can find an electrical repair shop to do it in a heartbeat for <$25 (<30 minutes work)

I agree that you are owed a replacement (was the original missing?), but that should be taken up with bitmain. I am sure if you asked, they would be happy to cover the cost of  local repair since it would be much better than waiting days or weeks for some wires to make your system work

Glad i found this thread - I still have no response from him via PM or email and have moved from worried to pissed. I just want my refund of shipping and chips. The board cost can be eaten up if it did in fact pay for parts.

does anyone know of or have a way to press T13hydra for refund or charges?

Note: For current patent law, we will publish detaild photos and information of our hardware only when the patent application is complete. This takes about four weeks.

YUUUP.

I am also interested, but is it just a "send BTC and trust me" thing?  Are you planning to set this up in a legal contract? How are you going to handle disputes? What if they dont deliver? What if it takes them 2 years to finally get it working correctly?

With the history of cryptos and ASIC production, this is a really risky gamble.  I may join up once I hear more, but atm its just too much to loose Sad

A legal contract will be in place. As for disputes, I make the ultimate decision as I will own 50% of each rig.
Yes "trust me" thing is in place. But you can visit the facility and meet me (southern cali) if you wish.

As for delivery of Alpha-T, it is out of my control. Refunds can be voted on an approved in which the refund will correlate with the amount Alpha-T refunds.

As with any new ASIC, there is risk involved. Hence caution, as you are trusting a brand new company.

so remind me why you are doing a groupbuy? just preorder a system for yourself. mining hosting is only a headache for everyone involved (particularly the participants who are at the mercy of the hoster's decisions/fees and who receive zero compensation for the physical hardware value when the hoster decides the rig has outlived profitability)

my 2c: buy your own hardware and save hassle. and dont pre-order stuff thats months away

What are the pros/cons of declaring customs if shipping to the united states?

+1.  Anyone have an answer to this?

This might be worth putting in OP for future GBs (hoping there are future GBs). It just made me wonder when I saw the "As usual @ own risk)

the last 2 units i receeived had marked value of $120 IIRC. this results in lower customs fees but may not be accurate to the current BTC exchange rate
3073  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [FIXED] My both Antminers stopped working !!! on: December 26, 2013, 04:41:44 PM
<soap-box>
GHash.io has surpassed 30% network hash rate. I might recommend people move to other pools. I've stopped mining at ghash and have returned to btcg FWIW.
</soap-box>

you realise that you left the 30% network hashrate pool for the 25% network hashrate pool? It would be much better to move hashrate to pools like slush's or elegius or p2pool
3074  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Single Casascius Coins for sale on: December 26, 2013, 03:18:59 PM
I have some 1oz silver with Gold 1.0 BTC coins for sale in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for 2.50BTC. airtite case included

I'll give you 1.75 each and take both.

not happening, 2.50 BTC is firm. If Casascius does not say he will return to minting by new year's, the price will become 3.00 BTC Smiley

proof that i am the original purchaser direct from Mike is available to anyone interested in an order -  the coins are beautiful and only 700 were made.
3075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [GROUP BUY] Alpha-T Scrypt Miners 25 MH/s on: December 26, 2013, 03:15:49 PM
I'm interested. PM me.

please be smart. there are a lot of scams in the forums where companies/individuals claim they have an ASIC or are developing one. The only scrypt asic remotely near reality offers well than 1MH - to claim a 25MH one is close enough to invest your BTC on deposits to pre-order is shady.

there is no proof that:
1) t-alpha is a real company producing a real product (not a 1hr webpage design)
2) IamRichard has any connection to t-alpha, or any sort of "pre-order deposit"

£1,635
30% Deposit Required: £1635.
Total price: £5450. Remainder will need to be paid 8-10 weeks before shipment, which will include shipping cost to your location. so, whenever they ask you for the other 70% of the pre-order money, you are still 3 months from having hardware
Hashrate: >= 25 Mh/s speed
Power consumption: ~ 600w not happening. there is no info to suggest or support that this chip would be remotely capable of 25Mh/s on less than 600W
3076  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [FIXED] My both Antminers stopped working !!! on: December 26, 2013, 03:01:35 PM
Ghash.io decided to change the stratum addresses (or more specifically, turn off nl1.ghash.io:3334) overnight. I woke up to angrily beeping antminers as well and it took me a few minutes of antminer rebooti, router reboot, modem reboot, and then looking at the ghash.io frontpage.

for such a massive pool, they have some of the most terrible client support you can imagine. This is not the first time they have [seemingly] arbitrarily changed the ports or addresses to connect stratum users, not to mention at least 30minutes-1hour of downtime every day
3077  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY OPEN] AntMiner U1 1.6 GH/S USB Sticks 4,000 TOTAL Ships TODAY on: December 26, 2013, 06:58:21 AM
When running at 1.6Hash/s, total power is around 2W, no need acitve cooling.
Product size: 60 x 25 x 8 mm, please select proper hub.

good to know! Assuming 2.5W is available through the USB port, I assume these can be clocked to ~1.8GH each? (Assuming that a little extra heatsinking or some fans get involved)
3078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [GROUP BUY] Alpha-T Scrypt Miners 25 MH/s on: December 26, 2013, 06:53:47 AM
lmao, a groupbuy for a nonexistent asic? https://alpha-t.net/product/viper-scrypt-miner-25mhs/

Its true, there is quite a bit of risk involved. So I urge people to only invest what you can afford to lose Wink

buyer beware then - this just seems like a shady groupbuy for a product noone has heard of, with deposits on pre-orders....
3079  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY WORLDWIDE] #1 Bitmain Antminer U1 USB Erupter [FULL] on: December 26, 2013, 06:47:35 AM
Fine! I pre-ordered 4 + one free, if anybody wants them have at it, I'm through with this GP!

cxboyminer, Please remove my name from this GB, Thanks

because you did not anticipate shipping fees? c'mon really? anyways, the price even with shippng is quite good, far better than the bitfury USBs that run at 2x the speed and cost almost 4x as much
3080  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: December 26, 2013, 06:45:07 AM
What do beeps indicate? During that time, the miner reports 0Ghs or similar.

not connected to the network/pool. the older units click and the newer ones beep. the small led on the hashing modules (not the control module) will flicker when the unit is mining normally
