There was a slight problem in the defense where clients were being denied a switch to the better chain. This is currently being resolved and a maintenance patch will be released shortly.
Moderation note: There was an effort by a few "trolls" to spread FUD about Goldcoin in the official thread. We welcome all questions, suggestions, comments, and criticism. But at the same time the official thread needs to be a reliable informational resource. This thread will only be moderated in cases where a user makes a blatant attempt to propagate misinformation.

I wont be surprised if I loose my money. I wont be surprised if I double it.
That seems like a pretty cool attitude. Good luck with your investment.

tons of rejects mining with the new wallet. easily 80% or more. Is this the new 51% attack protection?
Yes, part of this is related to the 51% attack defense. However there are still some questions that need to be answered regarding the pools and the blockchain. The DevTeam is in the process of completing their investigation into this issue and will be making some recommendations in a few hours which will include confirmation of the official chain height and whether a maintenance patch will be needed/released.

BTC will be the gold standard, assuming it does not fork it self up.
The "gold standard" is actually the digital currency with a newly invented 51% defense system, something bitcoin and litecoin sorely lack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldcoin

Was just about to download the new wallet, but await a fix for this first. Thanks in advance for keep us posted.
New wallet has been improved and launched & works fine. http://gldcoin.com/get-startedThe previous wallet worked fine. The improvement to this version is it copies the old wallet.dat file for users with legacy clients (pre 0.6.9.4) upgrading for the first time, whereas with the 0.7.0 version the user had to manually copy the old wallet to the new folder.

I have stopped mining and using my GPU to play high resolution games ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I'm using my GPUs to heat my home as they're mining Gold. I use the intensity setting as a thermostat. Closest thing I've found to free heat!

I think what we're going to see is the emergence of competing digital currencies, probably a handful or so. As the Bitcoin POS infrastructure is rolled out it will be easily adaptable to accommodate altcoin currencies. In addition, I happen to know 100% that various banking/financial institutions are looking to become involved in the altcoin sector for this very reason. If you read back over Satoshi's posts in this forum, you will see that he too would be supportive of these alternative coins based on his monetary philosophy.

Price has to be in the ball park of $150 per Mhash for it to have any sensible ROI no matter what you sell them for...
I think these units will be closer to six to eight times that amount.
