3061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to have 5, 12 or even more coins? on: April 03, 2022, 08:38:14 PM
Sincerely, the number of projects I've bought doesn't mean so much to me as the quantity I've of those project's tokens. I prefer concentrating on few pairs and then buy heavily of those tokens. I tend to look at it from the angle of narrowing down my options and then buy huge numbers of the selected tokens. Quantity means a whole lot. Just imagine what quantity does once price begins to rise. Many pairs with few quantities won't do that. For OP's option, I will pick the first option.
3062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Smith Inu? on: April 03, 2022, 04:33:51 PM
I would rather buy a Rock Inu than buy a Smith Inu if ever I were that foolish to invest in any of them. Surprisingly, there are people who will buy into this token either out of foolishness or the blind love for Smith will drive them to buy. Again, those who are going to buy this token will definitely be walking into a brick wall. Let me say it here that it will be a difficult thing for Will Smith to shake off the stigma that is now bestowed on his career for what happened that night at the Oscars. Even if it were a genuine token it will still be difficult to make it fly because of that stigma. People should just move away from this token and get into something more tangible.

Winners from 1 basket

Oh wow, I never really expected this, a really big surprise and an honour seeing my name in basket 1, i didn't write a speech
Wow! Congrats man for being one of the lucky ones in the dip! I know it's a stroke of luck but then not everyone gets that lucky. Enjoy the moment. One luv.

Congratulations to all 2021 awardees. You guys were all best in the categories you won. I think there should be consolation prices for those who come 2nd and 3rd in the next year's edition, instead of winner takes it all. I think that should be helpful as I've witnessed that some people got their votes scattered in different categories by voters and as a result couldn't amass total votes for any category. More so, I want to state here that I've maximum respect for the sponsors of this year's award, especially Bestchange. Kudos.

Theymos, I love your love for giving. Your insistence that your winnings should be sent to Razom is worthy of emulation. You've my respect.[/list]

the real consequence of Will Smith's action would be felt in his career which would take a downward part till further notice.
I think Chris will be wiser for this and will expectedly gain more fan base if he decides not to sue. We already have taken congnizance of how his show sold out because of that incident and the double standing ovation fans gave him when he came into the show. Dude should embark on a tour immediately. I believe he will ride on this tide that is going to eclipse Will Smith's career. Chris and Will came way back. I saw a lot of throwback pictures of both and even with Jada as this incident unfolded and wondered why Smith decided to throw all that friendship away in the heat of his needless anger. To be honest with you, I can't find a reason for Smith laughing at the joke and then going over to smack Rock.

Well, back to the thread. The main gist of this thread is on what April Fool Day prank got you most. Let's get back on track.
3065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check a Scam token on BSC. on: April 01, 2022, 05:54:49 PM
If I didn't buy, I shouldn't get. That's my watch word and it has kept me out of getting scammed. What gets many victims roped in is "greed". Yes, individual greed has often been individual's greatest undoing. I don't even bother to look at tokens I know I didn't purchase. It was later I got to know that such tokens could be malware. if only people would trust in themselves not to be unnecessarily greedy they will be fine and out of scammers league. To beat scammers, try not to be greedy. That should be a little unwritten law for everyone.
3066  Other / Meta / Re: Another Fools' Day on: April 01, 2022, 03:56:03 PM
Well how would we know that it was not staged. However Jim Carrey seemed to have a reaction and he said if this was him instead of Chris Rock then he would go to the court.
Staged? I'm 100% sure it wasn't. Did you feel the strength of that slap? Well, I did. No one would allow another slap them that hard if it weren't real. Besides, Will Smith would never choose a scene like such to tarnish his image knowingly on a live stream with millions of views, if not billion. Don't you realize what that thoughtless act of his will cost him – his reputation. I used to admire him but after that incident I don't see him any more different from a psycho. He's truly Wild Wild West. Yeah, I watched Carrey talk. I think he said he would be suing for something like $200 million if he were Rock. Frankly, Will should be punished for his action. No one should hit another that way and go scot-free. I like how Whoopi Goldberg is sounding tough on that even if Chris Rock wouldn't press charges.

I guess now is a right time to float this post again. I posted the original version (this is slightly edited) on March 29 but was advised to move it to archival because it could spoil the fun and surprises that theymos could spring on the forum. That advice was a sound one and I quickly moved it. True to type, the prank master himself didn't disappoint in that regard as we can find in IQ testing now required before posting

Theymos had in the past used a few of such a day to prank the forum. To be honest, I wasn't sure if he would be at his element today or was just going to do another kind of, "Advertise on this forum" post on the day. By the way, my favourite theymos' prank is [April fools] New new rank requirements. He really got a lot of us on that. It was barely a few months after the merit system was implemented and I guess that was why it got to many, irritatedly. There was so much wailing until people realised it was just a prank.

There was also [April fool] BitRona Signature | M: 0.005 F.M 0.01 S.M 0.015 H/L.M 0.02 BTC/week organised by CryptopreneurBrainboss and that got a lot of attention as pay rate was really good. There was a maddening rush for the campaign hoax. Later, many; on realizing they were fooled, shamefacedly deleted their applications before OP edited and locked the thread. It was a real fun time. So, who is going to prank the forum this April?

Jokes are funny when they are pulled on others but not on us. The Will Smith–Chris Rock experience is still fresh. Though it's not what this post is all about, I just had to chip it in. It's the same way with pranks too. I've had a couple of offline pranks I pulled on friends and family, especially as a bachelor. Though this day, I seem to suck at it. Perhaps, the severe challenges of putting food on the table for the fam has deadened the once pranky and cocky boyish mind 🤔.

What's your favourite April Fools' Day prank in the forum or even offline?
3068  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 12:46:50 AM
Won't those who are married with children be exempted from this heinous task, knowing fully well that kids depreciate the intellectual quotient of parents?

I guess I must embark on IQ begging then if otherwise...

😌

A newbie has to read all those, get it to sink that trading is not just an academic exercise that you just read through and pass out from your course of discipline to be awarded your degree.
Newbies specifically like to believe that it's all rosy when it comes to trading, and I ask them to show me a general in the military without a mark. The mark may not be visible but it's somewhere. That's the way trading is. I once told someone who was coming into Forex trading that he would blow his first funded account before he would begin to believe Forex trading was a serious business. He felt I sounded pessimistic and screamed there was no way that would happen. Long story short, it happened. There's no profitable trader who doesn't have a history of failure or burnt account. The earlier newbies know this, the better for their peace of mind.

Proverb: You no feet use only eyes sabi soup wey sweet until you taste am.
Nice one. I suppose revisit dis one to baff you. E go be once wata enter my fridge.

These three proverbs below mean the same thing:

1. Dem nor dey tell blind man sey salt nor dey soup wey im dey eat...
2. Dem nor dey tell craze man sey war don start...
3. Dem nor dey tell deaf persin sey cold dey...
Meaning: Obvious things don't require any explanation.
3072  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What and where? on: March 29, 2022, 09:23:01 PM
We need to explain very well that this a job, you can't just go to a hospital and start being a doctor, you can't go to a law office and become a lawyer. You need to study for those, why would trading be any different?
Exactly the point I've laboured to advance in time past. Honestly, it beats me hollow when people think that trading is something that can be learnt within a few hours or days while they go to college and spend four to seven years to acquire certificates to practice their so called professional courses like law, medicine, engineering, journalism, etc. Is there anything more professional than trading? Trading isn't a get rich quick scheme. It's a profession and people should pay attention to that. Those who are profitable at it will tell you that nothing is as rewarding as trading.
3073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Long Term Holders - When Do You Plan To Cash Out? on: March 29, 2022, 07:29:43 PM
I love the fact that the altcoin I held in my portfolio is having the potential to do wonders this season. Am positive that it's going to give me thousands of dollars in profits in no short time. Am not in a hurry to withdraw, am just being calm trusting their price movement.
Would you mind telling us about the altcoins? Perhaps they might be of interest for someone here to pick up. We all like what makes us profit.

I've read many early adopters insisting they wouldn't sell off for any reason. I continue to ask if everyone decides to hodl perpetually how would Bitcoin have its value? I know that the value of anything is in its (trade) buying and selling or am I wrong on this?
3074  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think this competition is fair? Bitcointalk Community Awards 2021 on: March 29, 2022, 04:11:48 PM
In all fairness, life itself isn't fair. We should always expect that anything done by humans is mixed with subjectivity. We can't get 100% objective compliance. I quiet agree with what the OP pointed out even though @icopress tried on their path to institute certain criteria for voting like rank level and acquired merit within the voting time. We had similar accusation of nominees influencing voting with merit splashed on voters in the 2020 award too. Now, it's obvious that in the next award no meriting of votes should be among the new set of rules. I also support it to be moved to a section where signature isn't displayed. Make it as less attractive for signature and merit hunters, let's see how it works out. This way, those voting will be doing that purely out of commitment and not to increase post count or hunt for merit.

The only way merit should be allowed would be after the results have been announced.
3075  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What and where? on: March 29, 2022, 01:52:38 PM
What can you suggest?
If you've made up your mind to trade, I think you should arm yourself with the rudimentary knowledge of trading. No man dives into a river without knowing how to swim, else they drown. It's the same principle with trading. You risk blowing your capital if you don't have a rudimentary knowledge of trading, whether you're trading on the safest exchange or not. Again, while at it, avoid leverage trading. Stick to spot trading. It's way easier than leverage trading. You can start with buying Bitcoin. It's guaranteed that price will continue upward even when it dips. That way you won't panic to sell off in loss.
3076  Economy / Reputation / Re: my senior member achievement on: March 29, 2022, 01:36:56 PM
Hello brother!
In case you have not noticed the recent discussion on his board about where to get most of it from this type of topics. Now we have a dedicated thread for it. Please check this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391471.0
Except you're ready to start policing users on that. Otherwise I don't see people complying with that. Some may not even know there's such a thread even months after you've said it. It won't be as if users are going to intentionally ignore you; it may be because many a poster don't really take pleasure reading and are likely to miss such thread. The easiest way to achieve this single thread for self glory and show of gratitude would be to create a mini or sub board for it. That way, those who don't like it can easily ignore that board. Definitely, I know there are many users here who are angered by these self congratulatory posts. I don't have an issue with that. If anything, I like reading them. I also have written such too.

April is around the corner. Whoops! I don't know if I'm the only one here who is excited and anxiously waiting for its first day – April 1st, the Fools' Day. Theymos had in the past used a few of such a day to prank the forum. We don't know if he will be at his element this April or just decides to go on a, "Advertise on this forum" kind of post on the day. 3078  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you agree market behavior has changed? on: March 29, 2022, 07:18:08 AM
To start with, there's no way everyone who uses the same indicators will be basing them on the same timeframe at the same time. If someone is viewing a particular indicator on 30 minutes and another is viewing it on a daily TF, it's obvious the readings won't be the same. One timeframe may be indicating a buy while the other a sell. So, invariably, what that will mean is that various traders will be taking divergent positions on the same pair at the same time. That's why we get to see traders going left while some go right at the same time.

About market behaviour in recent time, I think most people are beginning to maintain a bullish outlook on Bitcoin because of the prevalent happenings around it.
3079  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Understanding "When" to trade. on: March 29, 2022, 06:35:21 AM
You're right, OP. People don't get to be called traders because they're always in trades every day and time. There are days professional traders stay off trades. Monday (in Forex Trading) is said to be a day the market wakes up from its weekend slumbers while Friday gets it into the weekend mood. The market is majorly slow on these two days. Also, traders should learn not to trade every pair. Pick only ones you can read and analyse their body language. I know of a trader who trades only a pair and he's very profitable at it. Back to the crypto market that doesn't sleep 🤔, it's enough temptation to make traders think they can always be in the market because of that. That's a wrong approach. One should mark days of high chances to get profit, when the market is very active and with nice trading volume. From my observation, Sunday and Monday aren't the best of days to be in the crypto market, trading.
