well, if you say that merged mining with sidechains is highly insecure and vulnarable to attack it sounds for that those two will not come together... Maybe my wording was wrong. I acknowledge that I have no valid technical insight and can only infer from such statements. Then lets leave out the sidechain discussion here. edit: at least I am discussing  Fact is that the extra hash and security gains are a central argument for projects utilizing clearinghouse. This fact alone is worth it to merge mine imo. It should be discussed, including what impact if any could come about in the future including sidechains and treechains, good for you. I think there could be a lot gained from discussion with Charles Lee, the idea of mining colored coins in treechains is very interesting I would love to hear what he thinks on the topic. Any link about discussion with Charles Lee? |

While it's true that most alts are crap, there are some really good altcoins out there, and they're more advanced than bitcoin in several important aspects, some of them even make bitcoin look like a dinosaur.
1. DRK - instant transactions and anonymous. Comparing BTCs 10 minute block confirmation time (which in real life makes your transactions take over an hour) is embarassing.
2. VIA - 24 sec blocks, heavily developed and focus on being a real an direct alternative to bitcoin, also makes BTC look like an old man on a wheelchair.
3. XQN - New coin, but really impressive stuff being developed into it, the features in the wallet are simply amazing.
Plus, btc is pretty much centralized by now, there's no fair spread of BTC as mining is under control of large companies and their gigantic ASIC farms, and you can't really focus the entire digital money market on just one coin that actually takes over an hour to fullly confirm a single transaction, that's pretty much useless in real life unless you're a large store like Dell and Overstock.
Real life digital money tx must be instant, there's no question about it, if anything's gonna overtake the credit card industry it's gonna be something that supports instant transactions.
I do hold some btc, and also think it might go back up to $1000, but I don't see it as a swiss army knife, it's not the ultimate solution but a starting platform.

Btw, has everybody recognized how productive, supportive and steady this thread is becoming one of us, one of us, lol entertaining price action these last days. some heavy selling but lots of support but who will run out of effort first i do not now yet. karmala you are a great community member! |
