Waiting for Vlad to rise from the dead.

But that turns the entire history of the coin into a lie.

You might just as well change bitcoin's minting rate to make it just keep on issuing 25 coins per block forever instead of continuing to halve its block subsidy.

It violates the most basic identity/nature of the coin, the covenant everyone agreed to that made the coin the particular coin that it is.

It seems a total violation of trust.

Everyone knew up front it was going to cold turkey at a certain block, that was much of the entire point of the coin, and if they didn't want that they presumably would not have bothered to hold or acquire any of the coins.

If you want a longer period of still generating some coins, maybe I0Coin is a better coin for you than IXCoin?

Or if you want a coin that keeps minting forever, maybe DeVCoin, GRouPcoin, CoiLedCoin or GeistGeld might better fit your needs/preferences?

-MarkM-

You seem to think that there's this massive silent majority of owners who give a damn about this coin.   Well, where the hell are they?  I've been going almost solo re-developing this coin for over a month now.

Where are these long term holders that you speak of?

I have received donations from a total of 3 folks.   A grand total of 3.... does anyone give a damn enough to contribute?  Do they give a damn if this 'experiment' of Satoshi to go to zero miner subsidy after 21 million coins?

I'm calling B.S. about the concern about this hard limit .  This coin does not need to be a guinea pig for the BTC folks!

Thank you, Mark!

Every major ixCoin holder agrees with you, Mark.

You seem to know some major iXcoin holders... maybe you can persuade them to pay up some bounty for development.
3087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [IXC] iXcoin Core Development Fundraising on: January 02, 2014, 09:47:38 PM
Consider donating to help development and marketing of iXcoin.
3088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 02, 2014, 09:35:49 PM
Will you two folks who appear so opinionated about iXcoin future, please at least donate some IXC to the development fund?

We are going to do some ad buys:

(1) Press Release - Tazman has written up the release, cost $90 to publish on major financial news wires.
(2) Google Adsense - Pay per click ... budget $100

So how about it?  Back up your talk with some currency please.

BTW, where is Vlad and that Thomas character?  Those two need to pony up some bounty.
3089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Seeking Funds to Build a Lightweight Wallet for Namecoin (NMC) on: January 02, 2014, 07:44:12 PM
In light of the recent NMC rise in price, this project is becoming more important.
3090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 02, 2014, 07:16:04 PM
Remember that mining IXCoin costs almost nothing.

Most people who mine it just get it automatically because their pool includes it in its merge.

A lot of the point of IXCoin though was to see what happens when there is no subsidy.

Hopefully by then there will be lots of transactions and the coins will be worth a lot.

They will afterall be "rarer" then too, up until the last moment people will be getting IXCoins at full speed, then pow.

A big difference in the number of new IXCoins entering the market.

I0Coin is an interesting parallel experiment too, it already is down to only giving out three coins per block.

Turning them into forever-inflation coins seems kind of cheating, it is a breaking of the coin minting schedule covenant.

Maybe instead we should try to pay particular attention to recurring expenses, like use IXCoin for subscriptions and such.

Maybe coloured coins will generate a lot of transactions too.

-MarkM-

The concern here is whether the pools will continue to support IXCoin or not.   The hash rate is extremely important in that it secures the network.  Now if the miners receive only transaction fees as compenation, then they may not support the coin when this happens.

One proposal is to have a 1% inflation rate added.  That is 210,000 coins are created for the entire year.  Enough coins hopefully to satisfy the pools.

Colored coins consume coins, but I am unsure if they will be enough to create the transaction volume by 2015.
3091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] L E G I T C O I N (XLC) on: January 02, 2014, 07:04:09 PM
I really don't get why so many so-called "next level currencies" get made, beside that it's an easier way to scam people than pre-mining and having to prove why it was for a good purpose.
Also, stuff ain't better just because you add it ontop on something already good.

This is a platform built on top of the Namecoin blockchain and network.

Is is like an application on top of Namecoin.  You've heard of applications right?  You know, the "apps" that you download into your phone?

3096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: January 01, 2014, 12:34:38 AM
What?Huh??

On http://www.statmyweb.com/site/ixcoin.co   You can read:

"Ixcoin.co is ranked #1,028,046 in the world, a low rank means that this website is very popular. Its majority users come from United States and is ranked #166629 in United States. It has 21,998 visitors per day, and has 43,995 pageviews per day."

Almost 22k visitors per day? (Ixcoin.org was like 50-60 visitors per day). Considering that normally only 3 out of 1000 are really interested, it means every day roughly 50 people become potential buyiers.

In 6 months it's gonna be tough to buy IXC.

This underlines the need to increase the quality and number of translations of the website.

Is there anybody out there interested in offering his time in order to:
- collect or make the translation of the website in other languages
- new ideas to improve the website
- create interest about ixcoin

Contact FrictionlessCoin.

Your reward? Buy ixc now. They are really cheap. In one year what you have done to foster the project will be reflected on the value of your ixcoins. That is the best reward.

I have google analytics tracking the visitors of the website www.ixcoin.co

If you go to the 'statistics' page, you will see a map of the world that shows from which countries people are coming from.

Here are the top 10 countries:

en-us    57.36%

zh-cn    5.75%

en-gb           4.29%

ru              3.68%

nl               2.63%

de-de      2.53%

pl              2.18%

de              2.13%

fr         1.85%

ru-ru          1.48%

Truly global interest in this.   In fact,  I am contemplating buying ad space from google.

he PM'd me just before starting this thread

Does it mean on June 2013?

 June 09, 2013, 05:07:00 PM

he PM'd me

Could you pm him back so that he can send me the bounty he promised?

what was all this....the bounty etc.

What I did is I p/m him about what was going on, a bit before and he P'M me back and made the thread  some time later....

I gotta say though I'm a bit confused why people arent using IOcoin as it seems like IXC without the initial well shall we say dubious going on's

plus IO coin sounds go, everything is startup.io now

Please don't trash iXcoin because the original dev wanted 500K coins.  He said he already spent half on it maintaining servers and paying bounties.   So from that initial coins, he may have around 250K left.... well he still owes some bounties.

But who knows if he even has 250k coins left,  he may have thought the coin dead 6 months ago and sold of his last holdings.  If that is the case, it would confirm why he is dead silent.   Meaning he has no more skin in the game.

Anyway,  I'm still waiting for his promised bounty to be paid.

Regards, I0coin,  its a different coins with a different block rate.  Also,  I0coin has had its own problems of starts and restarts.   Finally, the network hash rate of I0coin is nowhere near IXcoin.  The name is also weird,  what the hell does i0coin stand for anyway?   Probably needs a name change.

Yes, I0coin may have promise, but at this time it'll take some dev. work to build it up.

3098  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: December 31, 2013, 01:45:06 PM
Pretty impressive.

So are they saying that someone can come up with 25 GHs USB adapters for this?!

Well looks like there is a PCB design contest.  Very impressive indeed.

Looks like the coincraft chips are have been packaged and tested:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291141.msg4234318#msg4234318

Now let's see if AMT can really deliver on the promised shipment dates!
