Hello all Mintcoiners,

I have uploaded a full copy of the Mintcoin Blockchain to Megaupload. This is to help all Mintcoiners who are new and want to fully sync their wallets from scratch quickly.

The link for the Blockchain as of August 11th is available here https://mega.co.nz/#!8x8zwZgS!TSg2kis3nLWx12_SsDFnbjQA-zDoOfhdkC09i3ks12g

The Zip file compresses the Blockchain by 31% and provides a direct link for download. The size of the file is 750 MB and takes about 1 hour to download vs approximately 36-48 hours to Sync from scratch.

I posted an in depth guide on sharing the Blockchain in this way a couple pages back as well.

Happy Mintcoining

Fabulous! Thanks!

Cryptomommy asked me if I could do this for you guys and so I took the time out to do this for you guys so please make sure that this isn't going to get buried in the thread pages.

I don't own any Mintcoin and don't have a lot of time to devote to helping other Altcoins so I would like it if a someone from the community could take the time to test, adapt and polish the guide for Mintcoin which I posted a few pages back https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.16600

In return for my services I would like it if you guys please could link me to the process you are using for uploading and hosting the Blockchain via Torrents.

If you want trusted escrow I would recommend the Bitcointalk user Kingscrown.

lol Spoetnik, I don't think anyone will end up being able to dethrone you as the king of trolls.

I hope you never leave this place, there is always atleast two people having some kind of mental breakdown over something you posted.

I would like to nominate Spoetnik as the Popcorn Poster of the Year! (most entertaining replies)

3085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 10, 2014, 07:16:15 AM
Or lite coin will sky jump.

Seems like doge and lite will merge or they will create new coin.

http://www.virtfund.com/news-and-analysis/doge-may-soon-allow-merge-mining-with-litecoin

Yeah they'll make a new coin called Doge-Lite, or Dolegitecoin, or DogLeitecoin, or maybe Dogecoin-Lite edition, DogeLiteBucks

It's best not to wait, and always be looking at alternatives. E.exchangers source is up so you could run it in testnet to isolate where the issues are, everyone makes notes on their tests, and then amend them all into a package.
3087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi-vPoW - Myriadcoin's Solution to Parasitic Merge Mining on: August 08, 2014, 09:33:24 PM
I have a question it doesn't directly relate to the topic but more to vPoW-
let me give you a scenario - :

is there an attack vector that exists here:

lets say we have for example 3 "algos"

1. Xa

2. Xb

3. Xc

now (in this world) - there is a beautiful community developed CPU and GPU miner for both

what this miner does is it can mine each of the 3 and choose the lowest diff of each -

is there a potential attack vector where the miner can "game" the next block i.e by jumping form aglo to aglo -

so exploited some how the way in which the next block is determined?

sorry for the newb question.

what i'm asking is:

what is the mechanism that determines the next block is it really random?

None, the block hash is generated and can be solved by any of the algos. It's just a matter of difficulty vs hash power.

So then couldn't a group of miners devote hash power to the algorithm with the lowest difficulty? or does it become where the sheer number of different altcoins it can be mined with should make that unachievable?

Lets assume that a mining pool of groups of mining pools have a lot of hashpower in different algorithms and can switch their hashpower to the algorithms of the lowest difficulty like the reverse polarity of the Myriad Blockchain itself to achieve maximum profit. How would the different algorithms prevent such an attack?

This is a good project and important for all altcoins so I am trying to get my head around how this can be implemented on a large scale.

Right now Myriad has a chicken and egg problem: Our hashrate is not incredibly high, but once we gain hashrate through PolyMYR and Simplicity we should have continuous long lasting high network hashrates that should make it increasingly harder to attack individual algorithms.

Furthermore, we have discussed some interesting mechanisms to prevent algorithms from solving multiple blocks in a row. One solution might be to temporarily raise the difficulty on one algorithm if it finds two blocks in a row. The difficulty would rise exponentially if they found 3, 4, 5 blocks in a row. So even if an attacker is trying to form 5-6 blocks in a row and then insert them into the blockchain, the exponentially rising difficulty would prevent them from ever getting to that 5th or 6th block in a reasonable timespan.

hmm very interesting -

i like it !

but wait - what i meant was actually the miner - the software (for the pool users) can effectively switch to the lowest diff, so let me try to give an example:

              {A     <  finds one bock
              {B
The Hash  {C  (this is now lowest diff)   < switches to this algo to find block driving  up Diff
              {D
              {E

So "The hash" can go to any of the algos right?

is there a way to game that?

BTW when I meant "peer" review yes i meant try it until it breaks.

Same thing I asked as well but in a different context. I think what he means is that it is still in quite of an experimental state for also balancing out difficulties at low adoption. With a large amount of altcoins mining on the different algorithms they can also adjust their own values and difficulties to protect against sudden spikes and attacks.

I assume that Myriadcoin wants to be a type of central hub that connects all the hashpower of the Altcoins and then relays and adjusts difficulty/smoothing over a very large amount of algorithms so that in order to 51% attack you need more hashpower than all the Altcoins combined versus one network.

More or less, still a lot of work to do

3090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: August 08, 2014, 05:40:16 AM
Dogecoin, by the Dev's own admission was never meant to be for investors. It is for fun, for tipping, for the community to play around with for a little levity to take away from the seriousness of some people trying to create a new economic model.
The price now reflects what the Devs were going for.
So, buy a few hundred thousand. Go on Reddit and have a good time.
Stop taking this all so serious...life is too short.

Dogecoin is a world famous trademark, Dogecoin was even in a Weird Al music video. Like it or not, a fictional shiba dog is now engrained in our memory that helped sick kids, sponsored a bob sled team, and got a last place finish in a Nascar Race. Not having a good economic model doesn't mean that the Doge has had it's day, sometimes it's the best time to buy at it's lowest sentiment but who knows? things change very quickly around here so I'd say the ball is in Doge's court.

Colossuscoin relaunch - Colossuscoin2.0 Client -  coming soon!
We are currenty building a new and improved Wallet for Colossuscoin which will be ready soon.

Could you post a rough idea of when we can expect the new wallet?

If everything goes smoothly, it should be within one week and we can start open testing.

Someone should really upload a copy of the Blockchain somewhere because I would like to test out some of the fees but I don't want to wait 3 days in order for my wallet to Sync. I mentioned it to a friend and he also said he wanted to own some Mintcoin but doesn't trust exchanges but ended up selling them because it would take forever to Sync the wallet.

This is in the works. Just finished upgrading my servers.

Fantasic, Thank you

For less established coins, security is less of a concern so you should also look into file identification so that you can verify that the host file can't be switched with another file. Sharing a Blockchain should be no problem as long as it is coming from a trusted node and doesn't contain the debug log and RPC user and password has been changed (and wallet.dat for obvious reasons).
3093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy Withdrawal Delays! (Not Resolved) on: August 08, 2014, 01:42:41 AM
I still have several thousand coins in which I deposited months and have simply vanished because "tracking coins are too hard" and ANY issue I have ever had has more often than not been met with a complete refusal to take ownership and shifting blame onto the customer. I have been burnt by Cryptsy so many times over the past 9 months that I take my business elsewhere.

3095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: August 07, 2014, 10:16:06 PM
i'll have to learn how to mine this to dump on the market. Miners will make a lot of cash with ether. But they are about the only ones who earn a buck in this. There is a dozen altcoins out there that have a more solid structure to invest in. This has a high risk of crash and burn within the first year after release.
I don't see whales pumping it with no additional mega-hype (needs to be created) because if they would it would even crash harder in the end of the day.

If that megahype can be created it will crash after that. The epic crash is to be expected in any scenario i can think of. Would they have started it like bitcoin was started from close to zero value it would have been another story and investors could have had some profits. I'd predict hot-potatoe-trading and high volatility with siginificant risk to the downside.

On the other hand ethereum will be a good prototype for clones with better distribution. The clones that start from the ground up is where the profit is for the investors.

I agree completely

We have been working very hard on a full rebuild of the entire structure and hope that everyone will be pleased with our work. I have had the pleasure of working along side the Colussuscoin Team since the beginning of the year and we have built a solid group of committed and creative people. Just having a fantastic Community is half the battle, building stable and long-term growth is our number one priority and although everyone may not agree with our approach, we have discussed all aspects and are confident we are heading in the right direction.

The Development Team is the base group of long-term holders and people actively interested in the project, the only pre-requisite is creativity and a positive attitude. Whether you have 1 coin or 10 billion coins has no bearing and no one really knows exactly how much each person holds and has no knowledge of personal information other than what they choose to share.

The aim of the Development Team assumes that long-term holders would want to be a part of the team and allows for the level of anonymity that each person is comfortable with and that trust is built over time. A large group of long-term active holders would want to only do things that benefit everyone because people become friends over time and would not want to disadvantage each other.

The approach to the forums is based upon working with a number of large gaming clans over the years and has become a 3 tier level of security that is constantly changing and improving. The base is a standard member and most everything is viewable publically, the next level up is a full member with their own sections and exists as a middle ground where people can be added and can be less secure. The Development Team can only be added or removed by Sudo by recommendations from other members and provides a place to store more sensitive topics and information, it also takes into account that all information contained in the Development Team section could be released at any time and would only validate how discussion has progressed into a final product.

Forums and communication are important for longevity and so I would like to continue to help build a great team, a mix of large and small holders, enthusiasts, and innovators.

Nice concept, but sounds really hard to implement...

We've already implemented it. Our coin is already Multi Algo and i've privately used merged-mining on the PolyMYR pool

How does so many algo's tackle blockchain bloat? I would assume the extra hashes from just mono-merge mining would add a fair bit of bloat over time but mining over 4-5 algo's should then add a fair amount of extra bloat to the blockchain. What is Myriadcoin's growth in size per year?

Well, that's just how money works. At least the image of the coin isn't presented as something serious. Just visit the main website http://dogecoin.com/

What is your role, in regards to dogecoin, heskey? I mean, what have you do with that coin?
Very little, I dont even mine. But I like the community, and I think it will go further than it already has.

"community"

that made my Roflcopter crash hahhaha ha ha

no seriously though your so called community is a collection of independent online kiddies that banded together to download a miner
and join a pool on a meme joke clone coin ponzi scheme so you could profit and run !
and when people lose money you couldn't care less.. other wise your so called community would help the people who took losses.
but you won't !
You guys will scatter and vanish and hide in silence once mining gets hard and profits drops.
Your all lying greedy snot nose punks trying to make excuses to cover up people like me who are pointing out
how your running a ponzi scheme to lure in random new users so you can drain their wallets dry and brag about how much BTC you made !

NONE of you have mentioned anything other than how much money you have made ! ..ooooh sry and a bobsled team LOLOL
Your full of shit 1 million percent .

and i will terrorize your ass's for ages when you guys inevitably vanish and scatter when this crap scam coin dies out
and i will scream I TOLD YOU SO in your faces endlessly every chance i get.. ask around i have done it before Wink
orly ?
yaaaaarly !
I have seen this same bs routine before ..nothing changes.
the only difference here between this scammy Doge Coin and the last coin i said was BS and vanished is a diff icon and name.. that is it !

buckle up noobs its going to be a loooooooong bumpy ride and i am not going anywhere Wink
better stock up on them .jpg's ..your gonna need em ..don't wanna run out now do ya ?

FROM FEBRUARY 14th

I TOLD YOU SO  Cool

edit:
i called it to the day and even posted graphs from Crytpsy backing it up.
mining profitability reached par with other various clones and the mass exodus of guys leaving commenced
in a non stop deep spiral downward in value.. EXACTLY as i said and called loooooong ago.

I like the Dogecoin Community, it's fun but it is one coin that I would never buy. Love or hate Speotnik, he is right because I came across a thread about someone boasting about how many active Dogecoin addresses there are and so if you want to see the value of the coin and the effects of the mining (and now merged mining)

The value per Dogecoin peaked around the third week in February just before the first Block halving and has been on a steady decline since. Now with Merge mining, the amount of mining has picked up with more selling pressure dropping the value by approximately 20% in one week.

Oh Dogecoin, now you are fighting against selling pressure all the time....

Will history show that Dogecoin was given 150 million and blew it all on Nascar Races, Bobsled Teams and then mined their own coin down to near nothing?

Maybe Dogecoin will be that lesson as to never invest your money in a Cryptocurrency where their business strategy is seeing how many transactions a person can send while sending a bottle rocket into orbit which would make all transactions take longer to confirm for everyone else and bloat the Blockchain.

Is Dogecoin going to be the Facepalm of Cryptocurrencies?

3100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi-vPoW - Myriadcoin's Solution to Parasitic Merge Mining on: August 07, 2014, 10:39:20 AM
I like the multi-symbiosis of Myriadcoin, I researched it a bit a few months ago and it's a good idea. By working on multi-algorithmic mining and merge mining, it opens more doors to different features in cross-chain transactions and securing many small networks. I am quite avid though that Proof of Work alone with high rewards over time tends to hurt price so I am not quite sure how this should combat this because if you have something that will gain you proportionally more over time, you would have more of a tendency to hold on to it.

What are some of the things that Myriadcoin wants to strive for over a long period?
