Besides, both Stolfi & Varoufakis are Economists (OK Yianis is first a Mathematician and he has my respect just for that); and they may don't want BTC to succeed; because this will render their job obsolete... Wink

You are talking about JorgeStolfi, right? His signature:

"Academic interest in bitcoin only. Not owner, not trader, very skeptical of its longterm success."

I think he is interested in Bitcoin's success.

any idea

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/root/stratum-mining/lib/block_updater.py", line 49, in run
    prevhash = util.reverse_hash((yield self.bitcoin_rpc.prevhash()))
Error: 404 Not Found

I am not certain what is the problem. Have you downloaded whole blockchain and is your parameters in Bitcoin.conf correct?

Which port would I have to open  to connect externally Huh

8332 would be fine. You can also use a custom port if you like.

also my miners will only mine for like 25 minutes and then mpos front will start showing decreases in hash rates then hit zero but my miners still show in there  web GUI they’re mining
but on mpos it will show no hashing rates

Which miners and OS are you using? I think mpos supports getblocktemplate mining protocol, have you tried it?

You may want to look at this tutorial: https://github.com/MPOS/php-mpos/wiki/Quick-Start-Guide

If you can't make it ready, you can try CoiniumServ. It looks like easier to setup. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=604476.0

P.S. This might also help you. http://coingolem.com/how-to-set-up-your-own-mining-pool-using-mpos-229/.

In fact most of the signature campaigns now don't count low quality posts. So the signature spams also won't be counted. I hope that people can think before they post.

Are you sure about that? I think managers do check the posts but I don't think all managers check all posts and campaigns using bots will count spams and it may not count substantial posts. Most bots check the number of words in user's post which is wrong to check whether a post is substantial or spam. Some spams may look like substantial post. It is hard to know "real" intention of the user. I do think signature campaigns increase spams.
3105  Other / Meta / Re: An exact/estimate reason why Bitcointalk doesn't load without VPN for me? on: April 13, 2015, 05:07:38 AM
I am fairly positive that all four are wrong. I always try to be careful when I install something.[1]

I am not afraid, I don't know what to do. This problem is happening to chronicsky too and he is an Indian. It's not only for me. I thought I would get workaround or reason if I post here.
It is hard for me to take your statements on their face value. I'm an experienced engineer, but the teenage computer-gaming-kids I know all are well aware of their ping times. So when somebody posts a multi-second ping times like if this is nothing special all I can think of is http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=space+cadet . It is very hard for me to really put myself into your frame of mind, when the teenage kids near me (about 6th grade) all know their ping times and discuss them in the breaks of their soccer matches.

Thanks for the title! Huh

"one who is so easily lost in reverie that he or she loses all awareness of the surrounding physical world."

You maybe an expert in this but I ain't. So I need help unlike you.

Post your trace will you? Mine shows two class A IPs as well, just before "reaching" the DDoS protection, my ping times are significantly better though. See redsn0ws post above, they also have similar IPs 10.10.48.5 and 10.10.68.11
Code:
traceroute to bitcointalk.org (186.2.165.183), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
 3  83-169-183-73-isp.superkabel.de (83.169.183.73)  16.311 ms  24.876 ms  26.022 ms
 4  ip5886c9ad.dynamic.kabel-deutschland.de (88.134.201.173)  26.888 ms  27.741 ms  28.585 ms
These IPs do not show when I use an VPN (university line).
What is the point? I don't have routing problems. I always have at least 2 ISP available when at home, and all of them properly filter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_packet . Is "Superkabel" a reseller of "Kabel-Deutschland"? That setup looks like a typical reseller agreement where the reseller has no technical knowledge to maintain their network, only to do the billing. Perhaps you should ask you ISP why they don't filter martians? Your uni seems to have competent network engineers.

Edit: The only thing of that may be of interest is that from my Eastern European ISP I see a hop to the Western Europe via
Code:
bundle-ether9.ffttr4.FrankfurtAmMain.opentransit.net (193.251.255.201)
before reaching ddos-guard.net which seems to be located in Russia.

Edit2: Since more people posted the traceroutes with 10/8 subnet, I think it may be worthwhile to ask their ISP if they distinguish between bogons and martians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogon_filtering & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martian_packet) and why don't they use RPF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_path_forwarding). theymos should probably also ask ddos-guard.net what is going on. I have no way of testing that because all the ISPs I have access to properly filter martians and my access to the internal ISP traffic engineering tools is very limited.

Shorena is telling that he and redsn0w is getting non-routable IPs like me. I will look the wiki articles you gave. Thank you!

Can you post your traceroute? That will be helpful.
3106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BlockChain Help on: April 13, 2015, 04:54:18 AM
After 24 to 36 hours the transaction should be dropped from the blockchain i've read. after that happens (you don't see the transaction anymore) send it again but with a fee and it should confirm in the next block or two.

in most cases that is possible, but in my case i tried sending 10k satoshi without fees about 2-3 weeks ago and it cancelled once in a while but the problem is, when it cancels it automatically sends the same transaction again and again.

Which wallet are you using? It looks like your transactions are being rebroadcasted. AFAIK Blockchain.info doesn't do it. I have tried sending zero-fee transaction and it wasn't rebroadcasted when it was dropped out.

Also 0.0001BTC isn't good as an input for zero-fee transaction. Zero-fee transactions which have input higher than 0.01BTC, size lower than 1000 bytes and input(coin) age is high, it will have higher priority than other zero-fee transactions. However, miners can choose which transactions to add and most miners include transactions with recommended fees.
3107  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: April 13, 2015, 04:46:13 AM
I think that will decrease the low-quality posts a bit... maybe

I don't think so.

I just got an idea..

how about adding a secondary rank?

Additional rank is better.

A rank which depends on a user's post quality

It will have to be done manually and if it is, this rank will be suit best as a badge. I don't like it even if it is a badge though.

or their average number of words per post?

It will only increase spams. People will put more crap in their post to get this rank.

post quality can be decided by users, but some kind of "like" button feature is required.

It can be easily misused using alts.

Overall, no from me.
3108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Top 5 Bitcoin Wallets on Android on: April 13, 2015, 04:39:44 AM
If you install Blockchain.info wallet on Android, it is still a server based wallet. They are only optimizing the layout. Private keys are stored in their server, not locally(in your phone). It isn't a good choice to use a server based wallet to store all your Bitcoins. You should only store a small amount in it,

I think I still have the blockcahin.info wallet on my phone. I keep about 0.01btc on my phone to show friends how it works. I do not use it much.

The "bitcoin wallet" said it is a standalone node, does it download the blockchain?

No, it doesn't download Blockchain. I like it very much. I get a feeling I am using Bitcoin core. Wink

I've been using Coinbase for a while now and I'm very happy with the service but I wouldn't feel too comfortable having the app on my phone especially since I use my phone number for 2fa. I don't really see the need to have a specialized app though because if I ever need to use my Bitcoin on Coinbase I can just login from the browser on my phone.

Coinbase doesn't give you access to private key. That means they can take BTC whenever they want. You are giving your wallet's key to a person to withdraw money from it. Will you do the same with your bank account? Of course, not. I highly recommend to use Blockchain.info if you really want to use an online wallet.

Is Mycelium is a good and secure one ?
Since this is my first searching for another wallet beside blockchain

Yes, it is. Save the seed somewhere safe. It is needed for recovering Bitcoins if you lost your mobile or if you have any problem with your mobile.
3109  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Fee Calculation - Anything wrong? on: April 12, 2015, 09:31:10 PM
there are 3 fee in mycelium, 0.2 mBTC ; 0.1 mBTC ; 0.01 mBTC

I haven't checked made any tests. I only use Mycelium for sending BTC from a private key.

Do you mean we can choose any of these amounts as fee per 1000 bytes?

you probably got a high fee because you tried to spend a low input

Nope.

or one from a sendmany(exchanges and the sort)

Nope.

Mycelium gave me fees higher than it should be. Size were low, so the fee should be too. Also I am spending from a private key not from address in wallet.

I apologize in advance for being blunt. I don't otherwise will achieve any sort of positive communication.

No problem! I like to hear all opinions.

M.Z. doesn't know what he's doing.

This maybe true.

He's afraid to admit it.

Why should I be? I am browsing and partcipating in this forum.

He had either:

1) managed to get his computer&gateway working by installing some malware or shitware that screws up routing
2) buys his Internet access from some black market supplier, equivalent to earlier Indian dishwallahs who frequently were resellers of cracked-encryption satellite TV receivers
3) steals his Internet access from someplace with significant restrictions
4) is completely honest and forthright, but pays for Internet access to somebody who does 1)-3).

I am fairly positive that all four are wrong. I always try to be careful when I install something.[1]

The situation you are with is typically called "painted yourself into a corner". You are now afraid to make any changes, like a floor painter who didn't think ahead and didn't plan a way to leave the room he had to paint.

I am not afraid, I don't know what to do. This problem is happening to chronicsky too and he is an Indian. It's not only for me. I thought I would get workaround or reason if I post here.

Nevertheless, thank you for your reply!

Edit: [1] was answer to your first question. Mentioning so it won't be misleading.

I hope Bitcointalks resident Islamist come in here and post, is this another miracle of Islam?

This thread is about ISIS not about Islam. Killing thousands of innocents is Islamic? Please don't spread FUD. ISIS never follows Islam even though they claim they do. If I claim, I am president, it doesn't make me a president. This is the same thing they are doing. I hope you will understand it.

Then you earlied remark about fourteen gods makes no sense whatsoever, Muhammad. You just negated it yourself.

I might not have spoken correctly, then. I meant if Christians claim was that "one" regarding Jesus and God was meant to say they are one in person, then "one" regarding Jesus and apostles will make it additonal 12 Gods and will make them equal to Jesus, better to say, all apostles will be Jesus.

However, their claims are false. Remaining answer to this is what in my above post. I thought you understand partially, so I only posted it.
3115  Other / Meta / Re: A simple question "Is it against the forum rules make "double posting" ? on: April 12, 2015, 08:44:28 PM
I was afraid when I started posting in Politics & Society. thebitcoinquiz.com recently complained about this behavior in BIT-X.com signature campaign thread.

Most of the posts I need to reply needs to be answered separately. Else, it will become too messy and too long. For example, see recent double posts of mine[1], I don't know how it can answers the questions if it is merged rather than making it more confusing. Although this is the case, as long as we wear paid signatures, we will see these type of actions(no offence, no complains).

The similarites of Islam and Christianity

<a taken>
b) Both believes in doing good works.
c) Both believes in praying, and repentance to sins commited
d) Both teaches to not judge others

True.

The key difference between Islam and Christianity as i see it:

a) Islam believes that Jesus was apostle of God, and not the son of God that he was made to be in the scriptures of the Bible.
b) Christianity believes that Jesus was the son of God, sent to die for our sins, so that we might be redeemed through good works and repentance of sins.

True.

could you perhaps add to these list Muhammad Zakir, about any difference i may have missed, or any errors that i made? I am really enjoying this discussion Smiley

Here are some problems:

a) Both believes there is one true God.

Only Islam believes in one true God.

Why isn't Christianity?

#1: “Jesus was the son of God” itself tells there is another God than Jesus and they believe it. If not, they can't beleive Jesus was "son of God".

#2: They take this is as evidence for Jesus as God.

“I and my Father, We are One.” (John 10:30).

In fact, it is out of context.

John 10:22 -  “But it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem and it was winter.”
John 10:23 - “And Yeshua was walking in The Temple on the porch of Solomon.”
John 10:24 - “And the Judeans surrounded him and were saying, "How long will you keep our souls in suspense? If you are The Messiah, tell us plainly."”
John 10:25 - “Yeshua answered and said to them, "I have told you, and you do not believe, and the works that I do in the Name of my Father, they testify of Me."”
John 10:26 - "But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, just as I said to you."
John 10:27 - "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow Me."
John 10:28 - "And I am giving them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them from my hand."
John 10:29 - "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."
John 10:30 - "I and my Father, We are One."

If you look at this, you will understand on purpose they are one but it doesn't mean they are one person. Nobody can't snatch from Jesus' hands, nobody can't snatch from God's hand and hence, they are one.

Anyway, if they are still telling "no". Then they will have to believe in 14 Gods. Jesus, God and 12 disciples. Same thing used in different lines:

Romans 12:5 - “So also, we who are many, are one body in The Messiah, and each one of us is a member of the other.”

1 Corinthians 10:17 - “Just as that is one bread, and thus we are all one body, for we all receive from that which is one bread.”

John 17:11 - “From now on, I do not dwell in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to join you. Holy Father, keep them in your Name- that Name which you have given me, so that they shall be one, just as we are.”

Maybe more are there but last one I post which is said by Jesus' to disciples:

John 17:20-22 -  "That the all may be made one. Like thou Father art in me, I in thee, that they may be one in us. I in them, they in me, that they may be perfect in one"

See? Same "ONE" is used here. So that means 14(+) Gods? Huh

Muhammad, you raise a good point here. It is really confusing even for some christians. The point is, peculiar to christianity, that essence of God is in trinity (Father, Son and the spirit), they are all part of same supreme being. Not three gods, but three parts of the God representing different qualities.

Zakir Naik:

The sister has asked the question regarding ‘trinity’. The Christians have the concept of ‘trinity’, – father, son, holy ghost. Her previous question was – I had proved it from the Bible, that Jesus (peace be upon him) never believed in ‘trinity’. Now she gave an example – She has given a human logic, asking a question, that if water can be present in three states – as Solid, Liquid and Gas – as Ice, Water and Vapour – When water can be in 3 states, why can’t God be? Similarly, the Christian missionaries – they pose the question… ‘Even God Almighty can be present in three forms – the father,  son, and holy ghost. But if you analyze, I do agree matter can be in three states – Solid, Liquid and Gas. But you should realize that if water is present in 3 states… solid, liquid, gas – as ice, water, and vapour, in all the three states – the constituents, the component of water is the same… H2O.  Even if its ice,  the constituent and component is H2O –  Even when it is water it is H2O – Even when it is vapour it is H2O – Even when it is ice… even when it is gas or liquid, it is H2O – That’s very important.  Now lets analyze the example they gave of ‘trinity’ – Father, son and holy ghost. In 3 forms if you say… for the sake of argument, I agree – but are the constituents of all these three things, – father, son, that is Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and holy ghost, the same? We know very well that human beings have got flesh and bones – A spirit and God Almighty have got no flesh and bones. Human beings require to eat -God Almighty does not require to eat. And the same message Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) gave – Its mentioned in the Gospel of Luke Ch. No.24, V.No.39 to 43. That, ‘Behold my hands and feet – Its I myself. Handle me and see – that a spirit has got  no flesh and bones as you see me have. And he gave his hands and feet – And they were overjoyed. To prove what? that he was not a spirit – he was not God Almighty. And the verse continues ‘Do you have meat to eat’ and the next verse says that he ate broiled fish and honey comb.  To prove what? – that he was God? To prove that he was not God! Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) said, ‘A spirit has no flesh and bones, as I have proving that he was not a spirit – he was not Almighty God. Regarding the second example – sister gave the example, that a person can be a father, a brother and a businessman at the same time, – So why can’t God be father, son and holy ghost. It’s a very good example, and I do agree that one person can be a father, can be a brother, and can be a businessman at the same time. Many people out here also may be father, brother and businessman at the same time. But if suppose, the sister of that man tells a secret to the brother, but natural even the father and businessman will know that secret, because he is one and the same person. If a sister tells a secret to the brother, who is a father and a businessman at the same time – when the secret is told to the brother, even the ‘father’ part of that man, and ‘businessman’ part of the man will know the secret. But when you read in the Bible, in the  Gospel of  Mark, Ch. No. 13,  Verse No. 32, it says ‘Of that day, of that hour, knoweth no man, – no, not even the angels in the heaven, nor the son of man, but the father’. ‘The knowledge of the hour of  that day – no one knows. Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) said ‘Except the Father’ – not even the angels, not even himself. If Father -, the God Almighty, and Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), were one and the same – then if knowledge of hour is known to God Almighty, even Jesus should know about it (peace be upon him). So this proves that they were not one. Further… further, if the brother dies, even the man and the businessman will die… If the brother dies, even man and businessman will die. So when Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), according to the Bible… according to the Christians, he died on the Cross – do you mean to say even God Almighty and the Holy ghost died?

As to your question about apostles, it is misunderstanding. Jesus was talking about oneness beyond time and space. Before creation essence of all living things was part of God, after death it will be again. I really thought, that islamic view on this is similar. Could you elaborate on this?

Nope. They use that "one" to prove Jesus is God. The same "one" is used many times especially when talking to apostles. Jesus meant that they are one in "purpose". Jesus tells to beleive in one God, apostles tell to believe in one God and hence, they are one. But it doesn't mean they are one "person". Hope this answers.

What if one woman was his wife and others were his sisters or cousins or one wife, one mom and one sister? There are many possibilities too. And yes, It is also possible they are all his wives.

To answer your statement: A muslim is permitted to have upto 4 women at a time but even with two wives, it is hard to do justice to them. I read Islamic teachings when you have more than one wife, I must say, it is really hard. I don't even think about having more than 1 wife that time forth.

Male to female ratio is unbalanced not because of muslims "only".
I didn't mean to say that male to female ratio is dis balanced because of muslims.
Now can you also describe the "good" in having 4 wives? Isn't this anti-social and unethical?
Why doesn't your religion care to treat the female followers of the same religion with respect??
How will you feel if your sister marries a man who already has 3 wives and is sex crazy?

Okay. Nope. It will be hard for a Muslim to follow the Islamic teachings regarding husband & wife if he had more than one woman. Islam abolished killing female infant and burying infants alive etc... They are also seen equally. It was more like a personal question, however, I will answer it. In Islam, you aren't obliged to marry if you don't like him. She can avoid marrying him. Besides, who would give her daughter or her sister to a sex crazy? You missed my point. If man can treat all wives equally, he is good to go with max. 4 wives but if he isn't, he will get severe punishment.

==========================================

Have you thought?
 -Why do Christians worship JESUS!
# If JESUS is God, why did jesus die?
# God is not eternal?

 - Why Christians are subject to the POPE PAUL?
 # is not just an ordinary man (God's creation)

-Why scripture in every church is different?
# Is not scripture gospel scaled only one god?

 - Why do Christians worship only once a week?
 # Not at any time we should submit to God?

 > You choose which one?
 (+) HEAVEN OR HELL (-) ??

(Sorry, my language is not smooth) Smiley

1) Im not big on Christianity but I believe Jesus was the son of God.

2) Why are muslims subject to Imams? is it not pretty much the same thing?

3) Pretty much just like Sunni and Shiite. People interpret and have different beliefs based on the same religion.

4)You dont have to go to church to worship do you? Do you attend the mosque 5 times a day?

1) Jesus wasn't son of God or God and he himself didn't say he was God. False interpretation by Christians.

2) I am not depth in it. So can't answer it.

3) They say they worship to one God but some of what they claim contradict it.

4) In it, CoolRunnigs21 is right except that there are fair number of people who pray in Masjid 5 times a day.

A muslim is permitted to have upto 4 women at a time

WAIT WAIT WAIT before any misunderstanding happens! He meant 4 in his life as wives not 4 as in a fivesome okay!

JUST SAYING
Hold it partner.  Now this is important.  Do they jump on the guy at the same time and on each other or not?  Or is the dude supposed to just do one per night?

Group sex isn't allowed in Islam. This is question has complicated answer. My translation from Arabic or Malayalam to English will be bad. I will try to find an English answer for it.

I don't know what is the minimum information required to rip-off somebody. Probably the most common rip-offs are done with a help offer via Teamviewer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TeamViewer#Fraudulent_uses but I'm not really up to speed in that racket.

Thanks for the link!

In the previously posted traceroute you have a non-globally-routable IP address (10/8 subnet) at position 13. I don't know if there's an simpler and more obvious way to detect routing shenanigans than that.

I think I understand what you are trying to proove. I posted exact lines(except I removed first 3) I got after running the command "traceroute bitcointalk.org". I didn't want to make changes as it may lead to more complications. So...?

No. It might effect your chances of ever becoming a mod if your accuracy isn't very good though (if that is something you would be interested in).

lol. So I can't be a mod any time soon? Wink

You have reported 12 posts with 40% accuracy

Not anytime soon but you've got plenty of time to catch up  Cheesy, though there's probably a handful of people who will likely be next in line with 1k+ posts reported and high accuracies of 90%+ so you might be waiting a while  Wink. People should just keep reporting and don't be discouraged and your time may come eventually. Mods always come and go so new ones will always be needed.

BadBear had a great post regarding that in the past, Im too lazy to search for it now. The essence was that the accuracy is not as important as long as its not horrible and you show an understanding of the rules. A major factor is the time you are online. Are you active durring a time where no other mods are? As we have seen with Mitchell or other recently nominated mods beeing active in a local section also helps as a local mod might leave the board or be less active.

tl;dr: A multitude of reasons are considered when asking someone to become a mod.

This?

Good report history, posts and actions that show you understand forum policy, activity (and when you are active could also play a part in it, mods at certain times could be more needed than others), etc. Being a good poster or trustworthy doesn't mean one would make a good moderator.

Finding mods for foreign language boards presents unique challenges, so there's no real set way to go about that. Sometimes it's by polls, sometimes it's just because a certain person has expressed an interest in moderating the board (either by their actions, or by "applying"), etc. It tends to be a more community driven decision, because acting like you know someone because you used google translate on their posts is dumb (though foreign language mods do need to be able to communicate with us in english).

The problem is, like Welsh said, most of the persons when they are in doubt about the post, they usually don't report it as if it is marked bad, their accuracy will decrease and it isn't really good IMHO.
