Plug it into the wall. Plug it into your computer. Download, install, and run mining software. Profit.
Read/search this site for specifics, there's a thread for about every miner.

I have hated and resisted cell phones since their inception. I only got one a few years ago so the wife could get a hold of me in an emergency. I am now on my 3rd phone, Samsung Galaxy S5. I broke my last two phones on purpose because they frustrated me so much, always losing connection or not working despite full bars, so I smashed them both.
I love the S5. It's fast, it's smooth, and it always works. This phone made me finally realize why people like cell phones. I still hate talking on it, but I like having a personal computer, search engine, and BTC wallet in my pocket.

Looks like the difficulty does not care about the price anymore. Price is close to 200, but difficulty jump a few minutes ago is 7%+.
Well, an industrial miner using widely available gear (0.5W per GH/s) and only paying $0.05 per kWh means they'll be profitable (at this difficulty) until the Bitcoin price drops to ~$53 ...or until difficulty increases to 167,638,063,430 (@ $200 per Bitcoin). So, unfortunately for us home miners, there's room for movement. I think the big break for home miners will come next year when the reward halves again. If not then, some time soon. The cost of running those big farms is going to outpace the reward shortly. Eventually I don't think farms will exist at all, it will all be small-time mining.

Congrats on your node, Madness. I just started running a node, too. It's fun to be part of the network and contributing to Bitcoin. Here's a bit of basic reading on peer2peer for you, I'm surprised you weren't at least familiar with the concept prior to starting this thread: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer

It looks to me like Minera only runs on Linux, is that correct?
I ordered two more of these little UFOs to put on my desk, they're pretty fun little miners!

Can this software monitor USB devices? I watched your setup video and it shows you entering IP addresses for the miners, but my USB miners do not have an IP address. Thank you.

Is there any way to test a used S3+?
Hook it up and try mining with it?

Looks like a good piece of software, will give it a try tonight.

There is always a third possibility (meaning both predictions are equally wrong) that we stay in a horizontal trend for a longer while. And that is what, I am afraid, is the most probable outcome right now. Long, boring horizontal trend that won't resolve until some substantial achievement is made, e.g., start of Gemini.
Though I wish Bitcoin to reach at least the stable "boring" long horizontal line, I have my doubts for that to happen. Because when we reach that, the merchant adoption will go to the moon. Instead, while the trend is slowly downside, the merchants will just wait. I think the block mining reward halving again next year is going to have much more of an impact of BTC value than anything else so far posted.

Wow, these are really cool, what works of art!
Do you ever work with iron from a meteorite? I've always wanted a meteoritic iron damascus knife/sword.
Hi Mikestang, I've never had a knife made with iron from a meteorite but it could be done if it was cleaned of all impurities and you had a solid, pure piece of iron. However, this sounds more like a 35+ btc job, instead of 0.35 btc. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Well, 35 might be a bit high, but yes, definitly put the numbers on the left of the decimal point. Maybe someday, if I ever mine a block... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Some examples of meteorite damascus: http://www.arizonaskiesmeteorites.com/Meteorite-Knife/Damascus-Meteorite-Knife-2/http://www.kdmeteorites.com/MeteoriteKnives.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4VKDtjhiBMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_PS2l31EhM

What is your opinion about such an event hitting the earth? Is the bitcoin network going to survive? What about the human infrastructure? Is this a substantial risk for the mining farms, exchanges or even cold storage? What should be done for the protection of the bitcoin infrastructure in case something like that happen?
Someday a large solar discharge will hit the Earth, it's not a question of if; it will happen. Just like another large asteroid/comet will hit the Earth again, wiping out the majority of species. Will either happen in our lifetimes? Less likely than solo mining a block, but it could happen. Bitcoin is dead without electricity, SHA256 calcs by hand would be.....difficult. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

You can sell them (here or ebay), or just let them roll solo mining as lottery tickets.

They (ponzis) won't go as long as people want to use them. If there is demand, there will be supply, simple as that. Prohibition rarely works for anything. Ban them from this board and they will sprout up somewhere else, or just make more work for the moderators.

Here's mine at 54 bits on a usb lightning bolt plug: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi60.tinypic.com%2F2gumyhs.jpg&t=663&c=4wZXe4e7jy1hQQ) 52 bits yielded about 2.2gh.

Works for me, thanks.
Same hold true for miners connected to my network via ethernet cable, just unplug it if it needs to go off line, then plug it back in and it fires up again?
Under what scenarios would someone use the {U}nplug to allow hotplug restart and/or {E}nable/{D}isable device?

If I want to unplug one of my usb miners and leave the other running, are the correct steps: {U}sb managment-{U}nplug to allow hotplug restart? Or do I {U}-{D}isable device?
