Rather than mining in your dorm room you are aware you can buy hashing power hosted at Hashnest? Just open an account and transfer some btc. You will not have to deal with the noise and electric bills but return on your investment will not be as great as just running a miner yourself if your electric costs are low (Hashnest does have to make a profit after all.) That is if you just buy and hold, there are other options. You might enjoy trading mining contracts at Hashnest. My experience is that you can make more money day trading your bitcoin at Hashnest than mining at home. There is a little bit of a learning curve but you do not have to invest much, you can get started with $50. If you happen to time an entry wrong and have to hold a losing position until you can sell for a profit you will be making mining income. If you need some advice on getting started you can read the article how to profit with Bitmain Hashnest and good luck trading!

If you want to get your feet wet trading consider buying and selling hashpower at Hashnest. There are several advantages to trading hashing power rather than bitcoin. When you have a position open you are earning extra income from mining. Hashnest internal market is very liquid and offers a range of contracts to trade in. UMISOO is very popular with traders as it is more sensitive to bitcoin price than other contracts like S5. For example, right now UMISOO price is depressed due to yesterday's slide in bitcoin price, presenting a buying opportunity. If you bought both S5 and UMISOO hashing power today if bitcoin price increases $10 tomorrow the price of UMISOO will gain significantly more than S5. You can trade less than 100 GH/s lots at Hashnest, so if you only have $100 to learn with no problem. If you need some tips on how to get started you can read how to profit with Bitmain Hashnest for advice.

If you are going to buy cloud mining you are safer using a company that has their own exchange so you can sell hash if your plans change.

Thanks for taking the time to make the list! I agree Google Adsense is no longer worth bothering with as returns are meager. I also experimented with the major players in your 'Pays Using Bitcoin' list and found returns were again poor, about the same as Adsense. Also remember those ads will be blocked by adblockers most folks are starting to use. For my own magazine I have found that affiliate ads from reputable bitcoin related companies are the way to go. Since I host the banners myself I do not have to worry about adblockers.

I like Hashnest for day trading and ignore ROI, focusing on daily yield and price trends. Nowhere else can you find the range of mining contracts offered for trading. Right now UMISOO price is down (buying opportunity!) but as bitcoin price slowly rises (my bet) daily profits from trading UMISOO will be very nice.
Looking at the internal Hashnest charts today I will be trading S4 tomorrow: price is in a clear uptrend and daily mining profits are higher than UMISOO. As bitcoin price increases action will move back to UMISOO.
For those who like to speculate buying UMISOO right now can reward you with excellent profits as bitcoin price rises, if you think the bottom is in for the time being.

There's no doubt about it, people want to use Bitcoin on their mobile devices and, in such a connected world, there's no particular reason that mobile woudn't be the next frontier for Bitcoin. But mobile security is a pretty scary place. So my question is pretty simple:
In your opinion, what is the safest way to run a Bitcoin wallet on a mobile device? I don't mean a watch-only wallet, I mean a fully functional wallet. Let's assume for this discussion that "don't" and "convince the OS makers to make security better" aren't valid answers since those don't address the need right now.
Most folks are not concerned about security until they have a problem. The safest but still convenient way to use bitcoin on Android are Mycelium wallet using Trezor to hold your private keys. Yes, you have to sign each payment with the Trezor but it is not that much trouble.

Thanks for watching out. I hate trojans and have been accidental victim of a few. Cheap insurance is to download and run free Malwarebytes anti malware. NFI the program saved my butt in the past. There are more advanced scanners but the free one works very well if you need help.

Since the Jan 2015 low of $152 bitcoin price has made higher highs and higher lows. Price is now above the 200 day SMA and the slope is now positive. Bitcoin was trading at ~ $230 three months ago and is now up 20% at ~ $277. Do you prefer wild swings in price or a steady up trend? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fbitcoinnewsmagazine.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2015%2F08%2Fscreenshot-bitcoinwisdom-com-2015-08-06-21-18-44.png&t=663&c=bH9_ZgUPNCyDaQ)

I think ETH atm (after genesis that is) only can be obtained by using BTC to buy, no fiat. So if there will be a huge demand, there might be a small drop in BTC.
Crypto land is a small place. There's only so many buyers and they're a pretty tired bunch these days. NXT is well established and heaves with tricked up features and that's not really going anywhere. Ethereum does have a bit of hype, but it's also a bastard to comprehend and the IPO thing and Goldman Sachs links left a pretty nasty taste. I'm not so sure it's gonna set the world on fire. Time will tell. Well said. Reading about Ethereum gave me a headache. Mass adoption? I doubt it.

Does anyone have a promo code? I'm trying to sign up for one now since I've been looking for a btc card that will ship to the U.S. for some time now.
You don't need a promo code. Just visit https://www.wagecan.com/DebitCardInfo and sign up. Your other options for cards that ship to US are ANX and Bit-X.
|
|
|
What are the options out there? I just got a WageCan debit card, but it's a bit disappointing. The exchange rate essentially cuts 4% into your balance. Plus, it stores the balance as USD, so it's not really clear to me how this is different than just withdrawing to your checking account and using a regular debit card when needed.
I've heard about ANX. Any thoughts on them?
Also, has Xapo made any indications as to their progress on releasing a debit card for US customers? What specifically is it with US laws/regulations that are making it harder for them to release in the US as opposed to anywhere else?
For US residents your working choices at this time are limited to WageCan, ANX and Bit-X. If you do not want to order a bitcoin debit card Coinomat makes it possible to fund a card you already own using bitcoin. Full list at your bitcoin debit card options for all countries.
