How long a new Nation that separated from a another Nation can be called "the different people"?. For example South Korea and North Korea are also "the same people" but because of different political and social ideology they are not the same (not anymore at leas).

North Korea has been an independent country for longer than Ukraine, which is a separate state only since 1992. Tongue

The borders of present day Ukraine were decided by Soviet dictators: Lenin and Stalin. (The Hrushov blunder has already been rectified)

Let people decide who they are, and where thye want to be. That should be the guiding principle.

Odessa tragedy ‘fascism in action’ - Lavrov
http://rt.com/news/157292-lavrov-odessa-ukraine-fascism/

Quote
What took place in Odessa on May 2 is "typical fascism" and "we will pursue the truth", Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said at a ceremony commemorating the fallen heroes of WWII at the Ministry on Wednesday.

Russia will not permit last Friday's events to be "swept under the rug", the foreign minister continued. In his view, all witness accounts point to how the scale of the tragedy has been greatly under-reported.

Lavrov went on to say that the upcoming Victory Day is a good occasion for Russians not only to remember their past, but to not forget that the country has a "duty not to allow fascism to spread throughout Europe and the world at large".

Odessa tragedy survivor: ‘Many people strangled after escaping the fire’
http://rt.com/news/157256-odessa-witness-massacre-ukraine/

Quote
“First of all, nobody expected such cruelty, and secondly, it was too late to escape,” Tatyana Ivananko told RT’s correspondent Alexey Yaroshevsky about the Odessa tragedy on May 2, after which at least 46 people died in flames, when radicals set ablaze the local House of Trade Unions with anti-government protesters trapped inside.

...

“On our way up the stairs, we were taking plywood sheets inside so that we could block the doors and prevent them from getting into the building,” she says.

...

“They were also throwing firecrackers, so people in the halls were sitting on the floor, blinded.” She added, “At that moment you realize there is no way to help these people so you'd better rescue yourself.”

Public services such as police and fire brigade were not rushing to rescue the injured people.

“The police were idle not doing anything,” she recalls. “When firefighters arrived it was too late – too many people had already died, even though the closest fire station is 700 meters away from the site.”

...

She recalled that the radicals “finished off some of the people who managed to escape, and threw from the windows those who didn’t, to kill them on the ground.”

“17-year-old hooligans were finishing people with bats,” she added.

...

She also commented on the reports from mostly western outlets, which claim that some of those killed were “mercenaries from Russia.”

“If we had indeed been mercenaries, there would have been fewer victims, and not on our side,” adding that the only thing they received from Russia was “moral support.”

What really beats me is things like "nobody expected such cruelty ..." coming from the survivors. As if they did not see what happened to Berkut in Kiev a couple of weeks ago. Take my word for it, but the Bandera Children, if they had had more time and no cameras around, would have definitely committed acts of cannibalism. Still, what they did in Odessa is a far cry from what they had done during the Wolyn Massacre of the Polish population. So should we all be grateful?

If I were the Russian Ministry of Defence, I would rather keep silence... That would work just fine, why bother to say anything? Grin

Because in Russian mindset "silence is the sign of agreement/consent", so the Ministry had to make a statement.

NATO eyes 'defensive' permanent troop deployment near Russia's borders
http://rt.com/news/157344-nato-troops-eastern-europe/

Quote
"We need to look at our responsiveness, our readiness and then our positioning of forces to be able to address this new paradigm that we have seen demonstrated in Crimea and now on the eastern border of Ukraine," he said.

What "Eastern borders of Ukraine"?

Quote
"We are taking measures that should be very easily discerned as being defensive in nature. This is about assuring our allies, not provoking Russia, and we are communicating that at every level," said Breedlove, who earlier on Monday said he didn’t think Russia would invade Ukraine.

Yeah, right...

Quote
Russia voiced objections to NATO's build-up of troops in Eastern Europe amid the Ukrainian conflict. Officials say that a permanent deployment would only prove Moscow's assessment of NATO's action as hostile.

“I believe this decision would be taken and it would pose a real threat to our security. It would be a big, serious international scandal, but I know they would do it,” said Frants Klintsevich, deputy chair of the Russian State Duma’s Defense Committee. “Americans are taking all bets off, and Ukraine is just a pretext. They don't care about people, about what happens in Ukraine.”

“Those statements mean that masks are now completely off. It was clear even before that the deployment of the anti-ballistic missile system in Eastern Europe indicated the continuation of the alliance expansion eastwards,” agreed Russian Senator Dmitry Sablin, who is a member of the Federation Council’s Defense and Security Committee.

“Today, the rights of the bigger part of the Ukrainian population are not protected by anyone in this state. The best way to stop wars is launching of Kennedy operation against Obama, McCain and the rest of idiots in Washington Obkom. Or, maybe, somebody should drop some molotov cocktails there, at least.

Do you actually believe that if USA completely pulls out of Ukraine, that Russia will stop spreading propaganda about scary Ukrainian Nazis, that freaked out Russians will stop trying to seize government buildings and try to break free, and that Ukraine will just stop defending itself and let extremists take over buildings and anex its territories that still have Ukrainians living in them?

Yes, because you need to remember who actually started seizing government buildings in the first place.
There was no "Russian scare" before Nuland-maidan.

New talks on Ukraine doubtful unless opposition takes part – Lavrov
http://rt.com/news/157080-lavrov-press-conference-ukraine/

Quote
"Once again gathering in the same format, when the opposition to the current regime in Ukraine is absent from the negotiating table, this will hardly change anything," Lavrov said at a news conference on the sidelines of a Council of Europe ministers' meeting in Vienna. "It’s possible [to continue on this path] of course, but we will just go around in a circle and once again speak about how everything that we’ve agreed on needs to be implemented."

Lavrov said he remained hopeful that national dialogue could produce results in Ukraine.

“We are convinced that there is a way out of the crisis. It can be found exclusively on the basis of a national dialogue," - he said, adding that it should take place between the western and eastern regions of the country.

More quotes:

Quote
“Carrying out an election in a situation when the army is being used against parts of the population – that is sufficiently unusual. This isn’t Afghanistan, where a war is going on, and nonetheless, elections were held,” he said.

Quote
“I’m quoting to you an announcement made by NATO’s ministers of defense this past February, in which they demanded that the army not be allowed to interfere in the political process, and [further] demanded that the army remain neutral. That was when the fully valid president was Viktor Yanukovich,” Lavrov said.

But now the leadership of the EU has changed their tune, Russia's FM added, saying that Kiev "has every right to use the army to carry out the so-called anti-terrorist operation, and that all this is justified because the state has a monopoly on the use of force.”

"Second, connecting Russian flights in the Pacific with the events in Ukraine can only stem from poor knowledge of geography..."
