Requested tag from theymos.

OP has previous scamming history still unresolved. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=147171.msg1562259#msg1562259

If you edit out my tag again, this thread will be locked.

why cant you read the fact that it was a mistake and im willing to take all measures to make sure it doesnt happen again?

Also, buying BTC with PP is a red flag in itself. No amount of 'I'll send first' will protect against chargebacks when you can tell PP that someone used your account to do so. Marking as gift or any other hodgepodge will not work.

will happily buy a voucher or ukpay or something that cannot be refunded
That still doesn't change the fact that you have scammed someone else.

I do not see him stating anywhere that you have refunded him.

3126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No outgoing transactions on blockchain.info got confirmed on: March 10, 2013, 01:21:41 PM
Try searching for your tx on http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/txlist/
(hint: Ctrl+F)
3127  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitInstant loses $12,000 in digital heist on: March 10, 2013, 05:08:04 AM
Well, it's a vast improvement from the good old days where only 10k+ Bitcoins were considered a 'heist'.
3128  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Suspicious walls on: March 10, 2013, 03:39:23 AM
When you buy a wall, you get all your coins without slippage. This is desirable, unless you like paying more for each additional coin you purchase.
This. It's more like someone is trying to get all BTC they can get without pushing the price upwards.
3129  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: March 10, 2013, 01:42:00 AM
Hey, I've met with an error when I tried to send some coins from an imported privatekey. It says 'No free inputs' although that address has enough to cover the transaction. I've tried to manually send the tx via pushtx, but the transaction does not show up in the blockchain. I had to import the key to Electrum to get the tx sent out successfully.
3130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Accepting online payments or why is a bad idea to setup a bitcoind -server? on: March 09, 2013, 02:19:36 PM
Hi,

I'm a newbie. I was thinking to star accepting Bitcoin on my local business www.chipbike.com. I've googled some information about the subject but I always read that is a bad idea to setup my own "bitcoind -server".

But if the Bitcoin thing is the P2P, why I shouldn't control all the workflow? My readings states that it is a best practice to give to third party's the task of processing payments.

Any comments? What the path you have choose for start accepting Bitcoins in a automated way?

Best Regards,
If you have the ability to code, and to be able to handle the level of security needed to secure your server, set up your own bitcoind. Else, stick with bitpay or other systems which is able to do that for you.
3131  Economy / Goods / Re: (S) $490 Starbucks Gift on: March 09, 2013, 11:06:17 AM
be careful of unusually large gift cards from unknown users

could have been purchased with stolen credit cards (or even legit cards then charged back)

almost got burned with this once myself
This. I've assisted with multiple users with the same predicament, one notably by camolist too. Be careful of accepting unusually large gift cards unless the user is to be trusted.

Trivia: I imagined bells when I thought up that nick.  Embarrassed

Yeah... Was telling the guys at the bar a week ago, yeah I let this guy called "John the Dong" escrow $35,000 USD in BTC for me, They where like WTF  Grin

I hope I have better luck in thinking up a pseudonym next time.  Embarrassed
They must've thought I was some kind of gigolo with a bad taste for names.  Undecided

That or you were HUGE!    They were then shocked that I had so little info about you, like what country you lived in:)
I'm from Malaysia, a border away from you.  Tongue

until a few days ago I always thought it was John the dog
Yeah, I get a ton of PM's addressed to 'Dear Johnthedog'. The cute dog pic didn't helped much.  Grin

PM'ed piuk to update you guys. Honestly, he needs more employees at this stage.
No response so far. I guess he has some pressing matters IRL, and hopefully he gets back fast.

PS: This thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148455.0) still needs you, Ben.
3134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Data stored in wallet? on: March 08, 2013, 12:56:16 PM
Exactly what information is stored in your wallet? Is it just your public and private keys? If you back up your wallet, can you load it into another copy of the program and send bitcoins from there? And if you back up your wallet, then gain coins, and restore from a backup, will your coins still be safely stored in the blockchain, or will your balance be as it was when you backed it up?
Your bitcoins will be stored as long as you have the accompanying private keys to the address where the bitcoins were sent to. You can receive bitcoins to an address without ever connecting the wallet to the internet.

3136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: importing private key from a blockchain wallet on: March 08, 2013, 12:30:17 PM
So after hours of readings, and after verifying my address and private key i assume that blockchain did generate  for me a wrong private key because i tried to export the wallet but in another blockchain wallet it said sync with the server but i cant see my addresses so i ve tried to use brainwallet to see if the private key checks with the address given but the private key himself is invalid.
i have all the backups of the wallet so tried them with offline brainwallet and the same problem from the creation of the my wallet the private key generated with the address is invalid but dont know why but the statue  of the address generated is not watch only because of the private key is invalid. its the only conclusion i can have. so can anyone help is it possible that this kinda problem happens ? or did i do something wrong ? ..

I don't know that this situation has ever occurred with anyone else.  It sounds like something you should have piuk take a look at.  (He'll probably need your wallet password, or perhaps you can change it to one that you can share with him.)  Try sending him a PM and ask for this to be investigated.

Summary - piuk

Yes, please PM him. He's the operator of blockchain.info.

For the love of god, why can't he please go back to his old nick and steal someone's Bitcoins?? I've been waiting for "You got donged!" to be a meme for so long!

Tongue I just decided to change my pseudonym as it sounded too...
I had that nick going since 10, and I didn't knew its meaning back then. Imagine my expression when I finally realized what 'dong' meant as a slang.
3139  Economy / Services / Re: John (Johnthedong)'s escrow service on: March 08, 2013, 07:40:29 AM
Does your service include using actual bitcoin escrow transactions (ex. 2-of-3 multisig)?

I'm looking into that too, but I'm not comfortable with multisig enough to fully trust that over Armory. Also, most of my clients still prefer the regular method due to the ease. I might be offering that in the near future though if anyone specifically requests it.

Like to learn how. Any tutorials available for this higher level of security for escrows? I like ease as the next guy but a more secure service would be worth the learning curve.
A real-world implementation can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=135914.msg1454959#msg1454959
3140  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-05 Namecheap - We now accept bitcoin on: March 08, 2013, 06:47:03 AM
I don't know if they already did this once before and I missed it, but Namecheap just sent a mass email to all their customers featuring Bitcoin, in some sort of March newsletter:

Quote
Namecheap now accepts Bitcoin
We're ecstatic to announce that we now accept Bitcoin, the decentralized peer to peer currency. Namecheap is the first major domain registrar to accept this payment method. We're also the fifth largest website in the world to use Bitcoin. We're really excited to be on the cutting edge and hope those of you who use Bitcoin will try it out. Learn more about Namecheap and Bitcoin.
