3121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are ASICs bad? on: September 20, 2017, 01:04:13 AM
ASICs are specialized equipment that is made to do one task. This means if you have an ASIC it will likely outhash GPUs with better efficiency and make them obsolete. It also promotes centralization  which, as wheelz just mentioned, is against the original purpose of crypto. The most clear example of this is Bitcoin. In the past anyone could mine it (while this didn't guarantee profit), but when ASICs started to pop up we got less home miners and more large ass farms filled with miners which is more or less what's happening today. Now you can't even compete with ASICs in Bitcoin or Scrypt.
3122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 profitability (November batch) UK on: September 19, 2017, 01:10:10 PM
That is why some stupid miners will never succeed, they only think about money. They could hold the coins but no, they sell their mined coins fast.
If you run a large scale operation that's fine to do but for smaller scale operations like home mining it's indeed more profitable to simply hold some coins. Then there's people that started small in 2014 and kept reinvesting their money to make enormous farms from a couple S1s or so. It's all up to you in the end and whether or not you like risk.
3123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I have 2 Geforce GT 710 2 GB graphics card, want to start ETH and Monero mining. on: September 19, 2017, 01:04:33 PM
2GB isn't enough to mine ETH and those cards likely use DDR3/GDDR3 which will memory bottleneck the cards. Better to not mine with them as they'd hash very slowly; the cards were made primarily for display purposes anyways and for anything non intensive.
3124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: September 19, 2017, 01:00:23 PM
Reshipping services could be a workaround to the small list of supported countries if you still want low prices. Adds a bit to the cost but it's still likely better than what you'd get from buying local.
3125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: September 18, 2017, 11:49:40 PM
Is it true that people in China can buy Bitmain products and receive them immediately without the two month wait like everybody else is getting?

Because I think I have some friends in China...
On the Bitmain twitter account some guy said that Bitmain didn't ship out his miner even though he is in China and could practically go and pick it up. I have a feeling that's not the case and Bitmain just goes by the list of who buys first. Remember, they sell by batch and manufacture by batch so they can't just take one out and give it to ya.
3126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problem with RX470 on: September 18, 2017, 11:48:02 PM
It's actually pretty difficult to truly brick a GPU and under many circumstances if you didn't run your hand over the keyboard and enter in random values, simply adding in another display card and reflashing it with a previous ROM can work. No custom ROM guarantees anything but you don't have much to lose in most cases anyways.
3127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Comprehensive list of BTC Miners. on: September 18, 2017, 08:51:44 PM
In my mind, the perfect home miner won't have rampant failure issues, won't have a 40% markup for the convenience of quiet fans, and will have user-accessible adjustments for core voltage and operating frequency. The last approximately "perfect" home miner was a version of Antminer S3.
True, but the alternative is a loud-ass miner that isn't meant to be anywhere near a home. It's a shame Bitmain have such a mining hardware monopoly and other companies aren't willing to sell chips nor miners. I definitely misworded that though. Perhaps someone can come up with a less power dense design that doesn't need static pressure to push air through tiny heatsinks like the S9/T9 and is quiet.
3128  Economy / Goods / Re: Consumer Electronics Stores Accepting Bitcoins on: September 18, 2017, 02:34:41 PM
Newegg is an obvious one, as is Overstock. I prefer the former over the latter as prices are better and I've bought items worth over $2000 worth of bitcoin with no hassle there.
3129  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Comprehensive list of BTC Miners. on: September 18, 2017, 12:08:31 PM
Don't forget about the T9 and the R4 from Bitmain. Seems everyone forgets about these nowadays even though the latter is the perfect home miner, albeit with bad quality control.
3130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: September 18, 2017, 12:53:28 AM
I went ahead and found that these retards are selling used Avalon 6 at 262.82$ shipped. Seems ROI should be less than 3 months for me.
Free electricity and cheap A6s are a great combo, I'd grab as many as you can and get em up and mining asap. Mining reward goes down quicker than you'd expect with these kinds of difficulty jumps.
3131  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 18, 2017, 12:48:48 AM
We have lived through that 4 year cycle a few times already

A few times already when Bitcoin is only 8 years old?

Is my sarcasm meter on the blink or are you just trolling the bears?

 Cheesy

Well...a few being 2  Tongue

I sat through my $10k investment at $17 (right after the $32 bubble) went down to $2 over the course of 2 years. I sat through the $1200 bubble that came down over the course of 2 years to $180. There could certainly be some correlation between the halving and the price rise. Inflation gets cut in half and we have price discovery to find the new value. Overshooting only leads to a downward price pattern which in turn takes all of these new "get rich quick, FOMO" people that buy bitcoins just because they see dollar signs and makes them run away scared as the price is going down. And after a year of dropping price nobody wants to invest in something losing value ("It could go to 0!"). So it tends to drop below the value due to that type of speculation.

I don't see as big of a drop this time as the last two times though since this "bubble" was rather weak. I think the price will mainly be down in the $2k range, maybe dip under $1k on some FUD briefly before starting a new climb to heights that nobody but McCafee would predict.

You have to admit, zooming out to the 2 year chart the pattern looks all too familiar.
I'm still ready for him to do what he promised in his tweet, though. We don't lose out either way, eh? Smiley What we've accomplished in the last few months is impressive nonetheless and I'd be happy with 3000 or 2000 this year.
3132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ugliest (but effective) GPU rig set-up on: September 17, 2017, 09:38:02 PM
Ugly doesn't matter in mining; you won't be looking at the rig most of the time, and it doesn't pay to look good. All that matters is temps and stability, and you've got that. Some ducting could help keep the miners out of the rain and weather but still keep the air moving on the rigs.
3133  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: report not working VCC on: September 17, 2017, 05:40:02 PM
Some cards don't work with amazon and they are sometimes strict about that. As for the cards, they do work and I received a vouch card which worked on eBay and AliExpress as well as a few other websites. The card should work on pretty much any site that doesn't use 3Dsecure, though. I wouldn't call this a scam accusation the way it looks to me.
3134  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Question about Antminer Silencers? on: September 17, 2017, 02:29:09 PM
They don't do much from what I can tell. They won't silence much and it's cheaper and more effective to just buy some ducting from Lowes or Home Depot. You'll be able to put multiple miners inside and it doesnt reduce airflow as much as those ripoffs. They're also cheaper.
3135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2017, 01:48:48 AM
I don't know Why but i Just want to make same ATH guess like last time
Rules ....: the one  with the right date of ATH gets .25 btc paid directly  (UTC time)    (closest to ATH.....)
I look to Every page in here from now When a date is picked first iT cannot been taken again ( 1st =1st)
Another .25 btc is rewarded for ho makes best of technical analyse of the time When we strike ATH.... and Why iT happens at that time.....
So This .25 also only to been payed 1 time .... and not 2 times te same explanation.... (1st =1st)

Both answers to win must been inside before 20-09-2017
Goodluck to the ones that like This

UPDATE listmaking                 notice a * is when the person put good enough explanation for other .25 BTC  (person with no * only play ATH or have to put little better )

Cut

hope to still got everybody
20/10

Can't hurt to try, right?
3136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2017, 12:40:50 PM
I don't see this fake bounce lasting very long. We're above $3000 again but I fear this won't hold. There's little support behind it and with a little volume downwards we are right back to $3000. We just had a few 500+ coin buy orders, though.
3137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ payout only 19$ today? on: September 15, 2017, 10:45:59 AM
Eh, probably not. From what I can tell there's little support anywhere near $3000 and $2500 is a goal point. LTC could easily drop to $35. While it won't be another 2 year bear market, the bulls have been euthanized.

LTC just hit a low of $32, $25 is now possible if we continue downwards on BTC.
3138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3+ payout only 19$ today? on: September 15, 2017, 10:39:04 AM
The price of all crypto dropped hard as a result of China shutting down some exchanges. Expect it to go down some more before all the exchanges close and selling stops a little bit.
3139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2017, 10:22:00 AM
What will happen to the big Mining Farms? How are they supposed to sell in the future. Will the Chinese Authority´s also go after them? Huh
They've got to keep mining, no way that Bitmain stops such a large mining operation. Government also gives them lower electrical costs so I bet they've worked something out to let em keep mining. Question is how they turn that BTC into cash if they need it.
3140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New mining motherboard from Colorful on: September 15, 2017, 12:18:55 AM
eight expansion PCI Express x16 slots
So you can save the riser bucks, and also minimize the risk of low quality risers (always the issue)
very very nice, just cannot wait for it...

Anyone knows the release date? purchase via where? actually never heard of this company before...

Inside a case this is perfect, outside a case is terrible. This needs to have a custom case.
I'm not sure any rational case maker is going to make a case for this. Most miners I know don't buy cases, and a casemaker would likely not sell a lot of these compared to standard ATX size cases. It'll be interesting to see if it does indeed happen, but I don't think it will.
