If it doesn't increase it numbers of connections try:

bitcoin-qt.exe -maxconnections=x , while x is the number of connections you would like to have at max.
3122  Other / Off-topic / Petition - Stop the Net Grab - ITU Convence Proposals of participants leaked. on: November 28, 2012, 06:48:29 PM
http://www.change.org/netgrab

Hello Forum,

There is a petition running on change.org regarding the UN World Conference on International Telecommunications in December. Because I can't describe it better I just quote them:

Quote
The internet as we know it is at risk. Unless we act now, our right to freely communicate and share information could change forever.

In less than four weeks’ time, the International Telecommunications Union (or ITU), a United Nations agency, is planning to adopt new rules to clamp down on the fundamental freedoms of citizens online.

Big telecommunications corporations have joined with countries including China, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, countries that already impose heavy restrictions on internet freedoms, to put forward a treaty to the UN World Conference on International Telecommunications in December.

So far the proposal has flown under the radar, but its implications are so serious that we must act quickly to show the ITU and its member countries that citizens will not stand by while our right to communicate freely is undermined.

The proposal would give governments and companies all over the world the ability to:

- Charge users for services such as email and Skype;

- Restrict access to the internet; and

- Monitor everything you do online

The new rules would hurt people in poorer countries and those living in dictatorships even more.

Add your name to the global petition and ask your government representatives who will attend this conference to reject these changes that will seriously and permanently restrict internet freedoms. Act now, before it’s too late.  We need a new process where the voice of the people is properly heard. Make your voice louder by connecting with us on Facebook.

By signing the petition, you will add your voice to the tens of thousands of people who are standing up against unnecessary and restrictive online regulation.

An internet totally controlled by government and big business contradicts the very essence of what the internet represents – open and free access for all.

That’s why it’s critical for us to come together in demanding that our national leaders and international organisations respect the freedoms the internet gives to us all and stop this proposal in its tracks.

You can sign this petition here: http://www.change.org/netgrab

Hallo Forum,

- Dienste wie E-Mail und Skype kostenpflichtig zu machen;

So this is that about.

You should have said that from the Beginning.

Then you should appeal to Kelticfox to remove your personal info and I would support that.

Yes, you should do so.

Ja, sehr gut. Danke, Nachtwind.

Getting rid of cash has long been on the agenda of credit card providers, which trade on the fact that they can provide transaction data to the retailers they service. But now a new wave of virtual ways to pay means that consumers could soon be using new currencies Bitcoin and Ven to pay for goods too. Meanwhile, the UK’s three largest mobile networks got together earlier this month to work with retailers on consistent technology that will allow people to pay via a mobile ‘wallet’.

WTF is VEN?

Quote
...The ECB report outlines the workings of another virtual currency, Bitcoin. It is based on a peer-to-peer network, operates at a global level and can be used as a currency for all kinds of transactions, both virtual and for real goods and services. Bitcoins are not pegged to any real-world currency and the exchange rate is determined by market supply and demand.

Jon Matonis, board adviser to Bitcoin, says: “As digital currency gains momentum, it will unleash a new wave of global productivity and innovation. Primarily, this will be made possible by ‘frictionless’ transacting opportunities and free flow of capital without regard to national borders or national taxation schemes.”...

Seems that it is working for everyone but the US, strange.

Just noticed that this article is even on the BBC News frontpage that's really nice.

Undecided
3135  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: November 27, 2012, 05:20:15 PM
I (and as I see on the list many others) have 1 single share in Gigamining.

Don't you think your proposal is a bit much to go through to claim 1 Share.

I'm OK with sending you a scanned ID, but the other points are just to much for that.

Wouldn't it make sense to apply those rules only, if you hold at least an amount that equals a worth of 100+ $ ?

As it doesn't make sense for you or me to put effort in managing tiny shareholder amounts, I would basically agree in any given buyback proposal that doesn't result in a total loss.
3136  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Tag for false Accusations - LIAR TAG on: November 27, 2012, 04:15:36 PM
Of course!

Where would we get if everyone would posts lists as he likes!
3137  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Tag for false Accusations - LIAR TAG on: November 27, 2012, 04:09:40 PM
What are we waiting for?

At first I propose that we define a set of rules every Bitcointalk member has to agree on. This set of rules will then be printed on a contract which every user has to sign, get it attested by a notary and then filed to theymos.

After that gineta will speak justice over all violations on this contract.

Rules should be strict though.

My proposal:

  • No name calling other members
  • No posting of pictures not offically approved by the Bitcoin Committee for integrity and moral.
  • No smiles.
  • Only the default fond is allowed, no color change either.
  • More to come

This is really one of the issuers that I expect to start partying after GLBSE shut down. Oh happy day.

I have already mentally written off all coins I had in this. Everything else would be a nice surprise.  Sad
3139  Other / Off-topic / Re: Block reward halving the same day as a lunar eclipse and its my birthday too? on: November 27, 2012, 12:37:29 PM
That raises some questions.

Is the halving and the solar eclipse a good or a bad omen for your birthday? (halving + darkness?)

Or is the solar eclipse and your birthday a omen for bitcoin?

Or maybe the eclipse, your birthday and the halving is a omen for the sun?

OMG! The sun as burned out 50%! That's what it means, isn't it?
3140  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Tag for false Accusations - LIAR TAG on: November 27, 2012, 12:22:52 PM
Year, we really must get rid of all this trolling and false accusations.

We should assign some unknown members which watching and checking this false accusations. They will be like mods, except nobody knows them. I propose that we call them Gestapo.

They can then restrict user access to the Internment camp subforum until they show amendment.

.......................................

Really now? Don't you think the forum mods, which work for free by the way, haven't already enough to do by checking all this accusations?

They should also start checking if someone is trying to defame someone with false accusations and tag him if true.

This is just a forum, to give someone a scammer tag is IMO already a borderline case. And it's not really a punishment, but more to warn noobs of this person.

To let the mods do even more work than that in what I think is there private free time is just not feasible.
