Glad to hear they all made it out safely, I can't imagine being on a plane that had any sort of engine failure. It could be a traumatic experience considering the alternatives to a safe landing.
3142  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA to be dismantled by internal & external threats on: March 25, 2015, 11:16:04 PM
Yeah, they have been militarizing police for quite a while now in terms of training and lately they've been given military grade weaponry to use against the citizenry plus you have the DHS with billions of hollow point ammunition. The domestic threat far outpaces anything they can stir up abroad.
3143  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Several Admirals and Generals Accusing Obama of Treason... on: March 25, 2015, 11:09:39 PM
I'm getting tired of the Republican whining, the ones that complain the loudest are completely full of shit, especially when they were trying to claim they'd impeach him, don't make those kind of threats unless you actually have the balls to follow through with it. We have this exact same problem here in the UK with the Conservatives and Labour parties, yes, the Conservatives suck but Labour are just as incompetent and petty when it comes to attacking them because they come up with the near exact same solutions to the problems that both of them caused.
Well fucking said mate. The immaturity of our elected representatives should be both astounding and embarrassing for all US citizens.
There were some republicans that were discussing impeachment and then there were others that knew it was a dead on arrival idea. Even though they control the Congress, you still need 2/3 of the Senate to convict and remove, which they don't have. Furthermore, my main reason to not impeach other than the obvious is that it will just rile certain dormant elements of his base and make martyr status out of Obama.

In case anyone didn't know, Obama purged the military ranks of any General or Admiral that wasn't in lock step with him. And, he invents executive power he doesn't have and bypasses Congress on certain legislative measures including the recent executive amnesty. It would be sickening if it wasn't the norm at this point.

Kelley Paul gets ready for her media blizzard

Kelley Ashby Paul was dressed for the weather as she trudged through the last storm of the Washington, D.C., winter to meet a reporter. Fuzzy woolen hat, complete with earflaps and pompom, on her head. Knee-high waterproof boots with faux fur trim on her feet. Puffy white parka zipped in between.

Her husband, Rand, meanwhile, was home, still dry and warm, in the couple’s tiny Capitol Hill apartment. The junior senator from Kentucky and presumed presidential candidate had nowhere to be on this weekday morning because the federal government, in fact the entire city, was shut down. (No, not by the Tea Party; by the snow.) That Kelley was out in the storm made metaphorical sense, because she isn’t really “of” D.C., and unlike Rand, she doesn’t officially work for the government.

Home, for her, is still Bowling Green, Ky., where she was raising her three sons as a stay-at-home wife of a small-town ophthalmologist in the 20 years before Rand ran for office. Where she lived full-time until this year, when she finally took the next step in the transformation and enrolled her youngest in a D.C. private school. Now her tight circle of hometown friends takes care of her house — dealing, for instance, with the time a bird got inside and “pooped all over the bathroom” and picking her up at the airport when she manages to fly back once a month or so.

Politics, like the clergy and the military, is one of the few fields where it’s assumed that the spouse — particularly the wife — will take on part of the job. It is an anachronism from a time when all wives were defined by the work of their husbands, and it’s an increasingly tough role to navigate now that the political spotlight is brighter and the political pace is faster.

Wow ted cruz sure knows how to speak. Most of the recent speeches (his one where he announced he was running for president) were not even using a teleprompter. REAL truth comes straight from the heart and you shouldn't have to have a teleprompter to stay. He will definitely be a good president who knows how to speak without a script.
I used to really like him a lot but that has been steadily eroding as time has went by. The venue he announced at plus the mandatory attendance policy there of which required all students to show up seemed to be quite a shady deception tactic to make it look like he had all these people turn out to support him when they had no choice but to show up. Plus, it's starting to seem like the media is really trying to play up some feud between Cruz and Rand thus creating a ground war among the similar bases of supporters. He either knew it would come to this and is complicit in splitting the anti-establishment vote further or he's an opportunist that is merely trying to get his name out there which is what many of the long shots do to sell books or other related things.
3146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is 2015 The Year? on: March 25, 2015, 08:01:44 PM
I think it will rise in price quite a bit by the end of this year, but it will never reach the $1000 it once was.

$1000 definitely won't happen this year. i don't even think next year. it will need to be a stable rise.
i think it will go to $400 at most. i'm already happy if we maintain $300 this year.
At some point when the new ETF and exchanges start opening up for business and as wealthy onlookers and hedge funds start coming on board, the amount of new money that comes in won't just come in in a small and steady fashion. There'll be massive green candles coming and the price jumps will be huge. And, that's just the diagnosis w/o the remittances, e-commerce, precious metals holders coming in. It's most likely gonna blow the doors off this thing and be an incomprehensible rise that will make history going forward. People are so down in the dumps right now that they either forget what happens during bull markets or are new and can't conceive of such a situation happening.

is it possible to open a long and a short at the same time on bitfinex?
my understanding is that if you are into schlongs, you need multiple accts.
Haha, shorts + longs together = schlongs!

i love the D& D reference, it is the most fun I've seen lately. I still don't know what they placed in his burger: jalopenos? or just went on with mustard and ketchup?

That's right bitches.  And we're coming for Hawaii next!
Stay away from this place, we don't need your outside opinion in this, Mr. Vod. Lots of good things can happen while you're in bed.
3149  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-24] Fortune: Regulation is Coming on: March 25, 2015, 03:17:53 AM
I don't know why some people are resisting regulation. I think regulation is almost inevitable. Bitcoin has gained value and we can buy things with it. Bitcoin is not digital coupons any more and millions worth of bitcoin are trades every day and can be transmitted across the world. Regulated exchanges are important to bring bitcoin mainstream. The more regulated exchanges around the world the better.
Regulation can be state sponsored or from the market itself. Typically, the big shots lobby the govt to get their needs met and that has been the root of all of our problems. But when the Underwriter's Labrotaries, the private market clerk, clarifies their position - markets take a look because of their reputation. Rep runs the free market in case the new folks have no idea.

To think that not so long ago I was paid 50 BTC for two hours of work.
holy crap.. great job?

Check the posting date. That might've been about $50 back in the day.
And approximately .2 nowadays so this is a testament to the newer folks and what this coin can and likely will do going forward in terms of growth. Consider what buying 50 btc was back then and what it is now, go from there in the procedings.

Don't worry if it's from yourself to yourself you have no issues.
Genius statement, I would say that you have no problem at the moment. I've never had a dub issue on blockchain and, in fact, they have seemed like a wonderful bed and breakfast that serves nothing but steak and eggs, plus prime rib for dinner.
3152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal Accepting Bitcoin Payments!?!?!?!?!?! on: March 25, 2015, 02:46:32 AM
Paypal is never to be trusted. Stop this fraud and buy into bitcoin. That's it period. Grand things to come ahead.

But PayPal accepting bitcoin would be part of the 'grand things to come'. It would be huge for bitcoin and adoption if they got on board. Imagine being able to spend bitcoins every place that accepted Paypal? Hopefully we won't need paypal in the future and bitcoin can stand on its own two feet but at this point it would be a great success for bitcoin.
True but paypal will get the drift once it's obvious that the kingmakers are buying and holding, not necessarily this intermediate period of who-knows-what going on. I'm not sure that paypal thinks that adoption leads to more people using them to buy/spend bitcoin, so this is a big problem relying on them in this field. There's lots of info going out, via VCs, that other outlets are better to be used to do your biz in bitcoin w/o the aforementioned. Who needs them at this point? Just sayin
3153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9% of Americans still "Puzzled" by Bitcoin Logo on: March 25, 2015, 02:38:34 AM
Sounds about right:

http://www.coindesk.com/survey-9-of-americans-still-puzzled-by-bitcoin-logo/

Quote
9% of Americans were left feeling "puzzled" or "confused" after being shown the bitcoin logo, according to a recent survey by The Digital Currency Council (DCC).

The survey, which asked 504 people across the United States to provide a one word response to the logo, also found that 7% felt "nothing".

Approximately 5% of those surveyed recognised that the image had something to do with either "money" or "wealth", whilst 3% noted that it represented bitcoin.

The survey also found that 2% of people expressed indifference and the remaining 1% failed to know what the symbol meant. The remaining responses can be viewed here.

David Berger, founder and CEO of the Digital Currency Council, spoke about the implications of the results:

"What does this mean for bitcoin as a brand? Quite simply, the diversity in response means that the brand doesn't yet stand for much of anything. Mainstream America doesn't know much about bitcoin yet, so there is plenty of room for its re-introduction."

He added: "That said, this is also evidence that past outreach and educational efforts have yet to establish a meaningful and common understanding amongst most consumers."

This is the second in a series of DCC Pulse Reports on public perceptions of digital currency.

All this means is that we haven't even been released yet.  We're still in secret closed door beta stage right now.

Lots of room to grow, to correct, and to fully introduce ourselves to the public.

What would you guys do to improve Bitcoin's brand recognition?
If you look at any other polls including presidential polls at this point you'll see that most are unknowledgable at most and ignorant at best. There's almost no attention being payed to bitcoin or the presidential election or primary at this point.

So basically, the question is asking a bunch of dumbies and yes, I'm from the states and know how things go here. You don't poll derelicts and expect any intelligent responses. I'll stop here for now.

Wall Street is bullish as F#ck about Bitcoin!

First NYSE invests in Coinbase, then former JP Morgan exec Blythe Masters bolts for Bitcoin trading platform Digital Asset Holding, Nasdaq partners with new Bitcoin exchange Noble markets, now NYSE CEO leaves for Tera Exchange.

This isn't even mentioning BIT on the OTC Markets or COIN ETF launch.

Gemini is going to be friggin' epic!
They should be, they know the financial world has been long over due for a technological advancement.
Yep, this latest dump is just clearing out the weaklings and rolling out the red carpet for the hogs to make their way in as the new trading mechanisms are unveiled to make life easier for these folks. I'm of the mind that when this push takes off it will blow everyone's mind. There may be another fart in the wind but the moon is on the horizon. And, when that manifests itself in just a small way, people will be regretful that they didn't buy and/or stock up more buys around this neck of the woods. The bears are out to FUD and scare but this is a good test to thin the herd and separate the men from the boys in terms of who holds and buys more bitcoin. Sit on your hands at your own risk. Last piece of advice: you're insane if you're on the sidelines and don't have at least 10% of your savings in bitcoin, and I'm being ever so ultra-conservative w/ that assessment. The more frisky should up the ante like I have. High risk, high reward.

Interesting, 3rd quarter starting after a week from today. Good to see the hogs getting trading engines to help them feel secure and legit to play in the btc game. This allows them to put both feet in rather than just a toe. Gemini and the ETF will boost this market further.
3156  Economy / Securities / Re: Klyemax Studios Consolidated Repayment Thread on: March 25, 2015, 02:12:51 AM
Paid roughly .3 BTC back in the past few hours. I know it's not much considering what I still owe but it's what I can afford at the moment not being at work.
How's it going Klye? Glad to see you're making good on your payments. In addition to making payments, is there any thoughts on fulfilling the business model and get the footage up and running again? I'd have to think that banging broads for money would generate ok money. If not, cool.

Well I believe he'd have to have control over the funds to run the company - makes sense, right? Cheesy And well, he himself admits that he resorts back to gambling as soon as he gets hold of BTC, unfortunately. It's good of him to delegate the control over the BTC he makes.
BAC, since your the guardian ad litem of sorts, are you making the payments or what is going on with that? Is there a pecking order as to where the preference of the payments are going or how is this being meted out? The shareholder link shows who's owed what but perhaps there can be another spreadsheet identifying where the repayment funds are going during each repayment session. Or, just a recap as to whom the .3 btc just went to and by what % the payments were made, perhaps a tx id or plural to prove the payout? thx

Yeah, once they have more trusted trading engines the biggies are gonna really step in the pool with both feet, instead of just dipping a toe in.
3159  Other / Politics & Society / New Snowden Documents Expose Canada’s Hidden Cyber Warfare Strength on: March 25, 2015, 01:12:55 AM
Canada’s electronic surveillance agency has secretly developed an arsenal of cyberweapons capable of stealing data and destroying adversaries’ infrastructure, according to newly revealed classified documents.

Communications Security Establishment, or CSE, has also covertly hacked into computers across the world to gather intelligence, breaking into networks in Europe, Mexico, the Middle East and North Africa, the documents show.

The revelations, reported Monday by CBC News in collaboration with The Intercept, shine a light for the first time on how Canada has adopted aggressive tactics to attack, sabotage and infiltrate targeted computer systems.

The latest disclosures come as the Canadian government debates whether to hand over more powers to its spies to disrupt threats as part of the controversial anti-terrorism law, Bill C-51.

Christopher Parsons, a surveillance expert at the University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab, told CBC News that the new revelations showed that Canada’s computer networks had already been “turned into a battlefield without any Canadian being asked: Should it be done? How should it be done?”

According to documents obtained by The Intercept from National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, CSE has a wide range of powerful tools to perform “computer network exploitation” and “computer network attack” operations. These involve hacking into networks to either gather intelligence or to damage adversaries’ infrastructure, potentially including electricity, transportation or banking systems. The most well-known example of a state-sponsored “attack” operation involved the use of Stuxnet, a computer worm that was reportedly developed by the United States and Israel to sabotage Iranian nuclear facilities.

One document from CSE, dated from 2011, outlines the range of methods the Canadian agency has at its disposal as part of a “cyber activity spectrum” to both defend against hacking attacks and to perpetrate them. CSE says in the document that it can “disable adversary infrastructure,” “control adversary infrastructure,” or “destroy adversary infrastructure” using the attack techniques. It can also insert malware “implants” on computers to steal data.

Ted Cruz recruits from the Iowa Liberty Movement

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, whose path to the Republican nomination requires a breakout performance in Iowa, has quickly recruited more than a dozen party leaders for his statewide campaign, who are to be announced in coming days, according to people told of the choices.

Most significantly, Mr. Cruz has peeled away three leaders of the Libertarian faction in the state, known as the Liberty movement, who are the base of Senator Rand Paul’s support in Iowa. They included state Senator Jason Shultz, who endorsed Representative Ron Paul for president in 2012; and two former members of the state Republican Party’s central committee, Joel Kurtinitis and Chad Steenhoek.

“The assumption of lot of people has been that the Liberty movement would roll over and support Senator Paul,’’ Mr. Kurtinitis said. “We’re a movement probably more than anything that’s noted for critical thinking and a rebellious streak.’’

He said Mr. Cruz, who announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on Monday, appealed to three important constituencies in Iowa: evangelical Christians, Libertarians and Tea Party activists. His wife, Kelsey Kurtinitis, a board member of Personhood Iowa, an antiabortion group, is also joining the Cruz campaign, as one of 15 or so volunteer leaders who will most likely take the title of state co-chairman and co-chairwomen, Mr. Kurtinitis said.

Mr. Cruz, as of this week, had only a single paid staff member in Iowa, Bryan M. English, a former aide to Representative Steve King. Mr. English was hastily adding dates to the calendar for Mr. Cruz to appear in Iowa, where he has visited less often than other 2016 hopefuls and has done almost no retail campaigning.
