What's your motherboard? You probably need to short two pins as indicated on the diagram below.

$30-40 per GH/s
3145  Other / Meta / Re: 2-factor authentication for the forum on: July 20, 2013, 01:12:11 PM
2FA via text message could also help to reduce the number of alt accounts and hence reduce the amount of scams. Registering based on unique email address and IP can easily be manipulated, but requiring a unique mobile/cell number makes it more difficult to create multiple accounts.  Sure scammers could buy a whole lot of $2 prepaid sims, but it makes it more costly to maintain these accounts.  Also people might be less inclined to sell their account if it is tied to their mobile/cell number.

2FA via SMS might be problematic when the forum user base is spread over dozens of different countries. I remember it took me 2 hours before I got a msg with a code on my European SIM card to access my gmail account when I was in India and I heard in some countries it's worse.

GA works well on bitcoin and non-bitcoin websites, Theymos knows people are interested in it and I hope he will decide to implement it.
3146  Other / Meta / Re: Purposely offering your own goods in someone elses thread... on: July 18, 2013, 12:27:56 PM
And this is why people should be starting self-moderated threads when offering goods or services.

I think it is important to allow people to post competition in other people's threads.
Such free speech and free competition is exactly the sort if thing that enourages the market to be efficient.

A competitor offering his goods or services in a thread of his rival is also off-topic.

Serbia... i wonder if one could find out who the snitch is. I would be really angry. I mean what kind of person must such one be?

Their competition?
3148  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Batch 2 Avalon was rejected by german customs and returned back to China on: July 17, 2013, 10:34:13 AM
give us a different address, we have sent units to Germany many times without problems, but of course there is always a chance where custom do not believe this is just a engineering sample.

I see your ticket, just reply with new address and we'll try again.
These are not engineering samples, but self-contained, electronic products. It's a commercial product you are selling. Don't act stupid. This is no way to do business.

When dealing with the idiots (customs), sometimes it is the only viable route.  Roll Eyes

Pretty sure I saw a revision log somewhere... perhaps it was for my own posts?

Is this what you're looking for?

3150  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: MSI 990FXA-GD65 and Sapphire 7870 XT Tahiti - only 4 cards working on: July 16, 2013, 04:03:53 PM

What drivers and SDK combination are you using? Are they the same ones as in your other rig that is working fine with 5 GPUs?

Some driver versions won't let you run with more than 4 GPUs.
3151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finalising 4000kh/s+ Builds on: July 16, 2013, 03:27:24 PM
Is it possible in cg miner or guiminer to only mine with four of the five Gpus I will have connected?

Yes.

As for the builds you can make it cheaper by running some live usb linux flavor (e.g. Debian) as the OS, so no need for the drive and win7.

You can also save by using a dual core and a cheaper mobo (different socket), if you're gaming for only 4h a month do you really need a good cpu?

No need to buy a case too, more money saved.

1. If BTC stays around 100 USD for a long time, will you purchase it?   How much will you purchase?

My experience is that if BTC price stays around the same level for a while, then it's going to fall unless something new occurs that will prompt people to buy.

2. If BTC stays around 100 USD for a long time, and rise to 109 USD suddenly,   will you purchase it?  How much will you purchase?

I might, especially if I will be anticipating an even bigger increase.

3. If BTC falls bit by bit, will you wait until it reach the certain price in your mind?

Sometimes, other times I will wait until it recovers. It made me sweat a bit though, when the price was <$70 recently.

Quote
4. If the BTC price plummets, will you use the whole 3000 USD to purchase BTC without thinking?

I'll usually wait for the price to plummet more before buying cheap.

5. Enjoy your victory and never buy BTC again.

Nah
3155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is pseudonymous, not anonymous. on: July 15, 2013, 01:26:22 PM
Bitcoin is not an anonymous currency. It is a pseudonymous currency, as all transactions are detailed on the blockchain.

Old news?

Maybe move it to the Newbies subforum.

3157  Other / Meta / Re: New rank for donators of less than 10 BTC on: July 14, 2013, 03:57:31 PM
I doubt any individual bought vip donator rank after bitcoin price went super high.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38071.180

Are the contributer prices still up to date or are they from when the price was @ 10$?

The Donator/VIP tag prices are in BTC and they are not pegged to USD.

The prices won't be reduced. They may be increased if the BTC price gets really low. Additional lower-price statuses may be created later. I don't want to manually deal with too many payments, though.

I intend to add new, cheaper donator ranks. I won't decrease the price of the old ranks, though I may rename them (to "Donator+" and "VIP+" or something like that).

I said a long time ago that the prices would remain the same, so I can't change this policy now in any case.

Quote
Are the new ranks' price going to be variable or adjusted every x days or months depending on BTC price?

Maybe. I haven't thought about it much yet. The forum doesn't need donations, so I'm not going to create another donator level soon.

Yes but 5 Grand for a rank on forum is too much.

No one forces you to buy it..

3159  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google authenticator on: July 13, 2013, 01:31:03 PM
Why does some people still want to use a googl service that collects personal data for the NSA?

Google authenticator works offline and can be used as an extra security measure for many non google-related websites and services, many gauth implementations are open source too so you can easily see for yourself the verity of your statement.
