i always thought those ant miners  the THS s5 s6 s7 could pay if no much eletrecity cost

I think you are trying for posts possibly for sig campaign.  This post just really does not make sense read it, and it appears you have a TON of 1 liner posts.

Add to that the fact there is no S6... so fact's are wrong.  Post does not make sense.   I think you could have went without posting.

Today is a horrible day. Caused a huge spike. Will probably end up being +20% for the day.

At least price went up a little it's around 426... so not the 450+ but still going up so it's not all horrible.  Bitwisdom still does not look horrible but it could be wrong if some spikes happen:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    93,448,670,796
Estimated Next Difficulty:    104,628,550,777 (+11.96%)
Adjust time:    After 551 Blocks, About 3.4 days
Hashrate(?):    849,586,844 GH/s

I have a friend who mines with his own equipment, I mean they make hardware on their own and mine, they have different types of miners and they don't sell them, and he says that these miners can easily perform for upto 1 year, but the most important factor you need to take care of will be the cooling...
If the environment is cool and even after that, you do better liquid cooling for those miners, then I doubt they won't run at least 8 - 10 months...

Can you link to this?  I have not seen someone small scale make their own gear.  There have been 2 or so project's I've seen usb one's.

It just seems hard to believe your friend makes the chips, machines, etc.  Unless your friend is part of one of the big companies.

Android - Mobile Usage

A feature I have been testing out is the ability to use the Ledger Nano in combination with an Android device.  This allows you to have access to your Ledger Nano Account on the go.  I have the setup below to import your Ledger Nano to your android Mycellium wallet.  To show how to send I will use a great video from Ledger.  To be able to do this I am using the OTG cable that Ledger sales in it's store.

How to use:
1) Select the cold storage from the settings option with Ledger Nano attached via OTG cable.
2) Select the advanced button on the next screen to allow you to see import options.
3) It will then give you a good option of what account to import, select the Ledger option.

4) A box will pop up asking for your PIN.  After you enter your PIN it will move to the import account screen.
5) It will then allow you to select the account, if you use multiple it will show them all.  Click on mobile device the account you want to use.
6) Now it ask you for an account label.  Enter one to be able to move on to next screen.
7) You now will successfully imported your Ledger Nano account. You can now use it on your mobile device.

Video - Ledger Nano Sending Using Android Device

Special thanks to Ledger for such a good video

This is a nice feature to have if you need access to your Ledger Nano on the go.  Users who are mobile a lot will get a lot out of this.   You retain security needing to have Ledger Nano plugged into the device, the PIN, and also when sending the security card. The video does a great job showing how the use of the security card on the mobile wallet when sending.

So this is a good feature to have if you need to spend more then you carry on your hot wallet.  It is much more secure then your standard hot wallet so I feel better using it on the go personally.  Depending on your situation this might be a great feature for you.

Ledger Nano - Hardware Wallet

0) General information
1) Unpacking
2) The Ledger Nano
3) Install
4) Using the Ledger Nano Wallet
5) Conclusion
6) How to purchase

0) General Information + Hardware Needed to buy
As said by the Manufacturer: Ledger Nano is a Bitcoin wallet on a smartcard device, small format and low weight. Comfortable and simple to use, you connect it directly to a USB port to manage your account, protect your bitcoins and make safe payments.

Specs:
Size: 61mm x 12mm x 4mm.
Weight: 5.87g.
Lifespan: 30 years / 500.000 write cycles.
Materials: Aluminum, Plastic and Silicium.
Compatibility:Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, or Android.

The Ledger Nano is one of the wallet's ledger makes to safely store your bitcoin's.  They do produce other version's of the Ledger but I wanted to start with the Ledger Nano that is the one I have seen the most talk about.  This wallet does do a good job on capability listed above, where it is not hard to find a compatible device. It is also integrated in multiple wallets or on the Chrome application, so there is a variety of wallets you can choose from.  Perhaps one of it's biggest features is the price, it is priced where even if on a budget this is likely in your range.

1) Unpacking
Your Ledger Nano will arrive in a box that has your wallet and if you purchased accessories as well. Within the box you will find your Ledger Nano in a smaller box with packing with it to make sure it arrives to you safely.  There is also shrink wrap around the boxes within.  Within the Ledger Nano box you will find the following Included: The Ledger Nano, instructions, recovery sheet, security card, security card holder, lanyard, and key chain.

I also have two extra accessories the Ledger Starter, and Ledger OTG for use with smart phones. The extra accessories are extra and optional to purchase.  But I highly recommend getting the Ledger Starter.   As the Ledger Starter features an isolated offline operating system, in short this means even if your computer was compromised you still start off secure. With this you can insure your seed words are secure and only in the recovery packet you write them in.

2) The Ledger Nano
Below are images to showcase the Ledger Nano Wallet.

3) Install
Before doing this I would actually update your Ledger Nano via the Chrome Extension on your regular OS.  This should save you from doing a recovery after update of the Ledger Nano.  Follow the onscreen steps on the update.  The install is very simple no matter what way you choose.  I will go over the install with using the Ledger Starter. It will start you off in a secure, offline operating system is important.  So even if your regular OS is compromised by using this via booting in USB you are still starting securely.

1) Plug in your Ledger Starter in your USB port when the computer is off, and boot up your computer to where it boot's up via USB Operating System. (Key varies depending on computer to select what to boot from)
2) Once booted up select the Ledger Live option, this is option one as it contains everything you will need.
3) After that you will see it boot up a live Linux OS for Ledger, just let it boot up and you will be able to create a new wallet via option one.  (If needed there is also recovery and delete wallet options.
4) After you select the new wallet first you will select your PIN number.  After you will want to write down the 24 seed words on the recovery sheet.
5) Now type Yes and it move to part where you follow the on screen messages and will allow you to insert your Ledger Nano to create your wallet on it.

Special thanks to Ledger for the video

The install is also shown by Ledger above and show's from beginning to finish on making your new Ledger Nano wallet from the Ledger Starter OS. After this you will have your Recovery Sheet filled up with 24 words. Also in this recovery sheet is a QR code that links your Ledger Nano to it's security card.  You will want to store Recovery Sheet somewhere safe after you have your Ledger Nano set up.

4) Using the Ledger Nano Wallet
You now have your wallet all set up, you can send and store bitcoins safely with your Ledger Nano.  One unique thing to this wallet is how important the security card is.  When sending you will use it, so it is vital to keep this card with your wallet. To show how to use your Ledger Nano here is a short video below:

Special thanks to Ledger for the video

5) Conclusion
I have just started using my Ledger Nano within the past few day's.  They have been able to produce a hardware wallet to securely store bitcoin's at a low price point as far as hardware wallets go.  So far it has been a good test of it.  This wallet really does use the security card to add another level of security. This prevents compromised system sending Bitcoin as it has to do a check with the security card.  It is a unique but effective technique to keep your wallet from being compromised.

I would suggest using a different PIN for this wallet then you do for your other hardware wallets or software wallets.  With it using the computer's screen if your computer is compromised your pin could be vulnerable.  They would not be able to do anything with it as they don't have the ledger or security card. But the pin still could be captured.

Also Ledger wanted to make sure to note this Ledger Nano is provided for a review.  I receive no compensation if you buy a wallet from them or not.  You will notice link to purchase is direct and not a short link, or other way's for tracking sales.  This is nothing new I make guides where I don't receive money off sales. This makes it where I have no reason to push for you to buy, and I am able to share an accurate review.

5) How to purchase

Please don't bash others.  This thread is meant for info on the Ledger Nano.  If your topic is just bashing hardware wallets in general it will be deleted.  That is a topic for another thread.
3167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: December 27, 2015, 05:37:30 AM
I can get one, maybe two, miners, on one circuit, depending on the load.  What are other "home miners" doing to get 5 or 6 miners in the same room?  I understand "the professionals" are wired to do this, but what are "home miners" doing?

I'm in the US with 120V home wiring.

if not wiring for 240v, you'll have to map your circuits. I happened to have two circuits nearby, so i just use a good extender/surge protector to bring power from the second circuit to the room with a first circuit. This allowed me to run two S7 in the same room. This is probably a limit/room as with more the room will overheat.

One typical residential 15A, 120V circuit can safely run only ONE S7 as 1345-1360W (at peak)/110 (at minimum)=12.3 A. You have to stay at or below 80% of 15A (~12A) for continuous use ( and NOTHING else on the circuit). The fact that on peak it will be 12.3A might be OK since it will be at maximum output and minimal voltage. Typically, voltage is higher than 110V, giving you a slight cushion, but it is close.
A 110/120V 20A circuit is definitely OK-you can check your box re which circuits you have.

Batches 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are safer in this regard (they use less power).

And to handle the "wiring", i use big outdoor yellow extension cords. I bring those the a corner in the living room and have all the miner dumb their heat strait outside. I have actual 120V so i do okay up to 1400~1440 per circuit i guess. That should be enough for some OC room for the S7 after the warranty expires.

You might be able to get a deal on outdoors extension cords.  I have a very heavy duty one that was meant for a lot of Christmas lights.  I used it when I wanted to have a circuit in one room go to another to mine.  I'm guessing most stores discount lighting and lighting accessories for Christmas lights now.

But make sure it is a very good outdoors one.  Some are not near the quality and cheap.

whats your think about zeushash ? i just invest some bits thier now i'm getting  1$ / month
do you advise me to invest more BTC thier? or u can tell me which company good for mining ?

no, invest only in bit-x or hashnest at this point, the rest might be scammer, maybe they pay you at first, only to gaina  little trust but then they will scam you some way

by increasing fee, by suspending your hash etc...

bit x is great but its not like all others are scammer there are also some other old cloud mining website like one you can see in my signature they are old and paying .

if you can get profit from cloud mining or not its depends on you how you handle it

well i've said hashnest, and then you have genesis minign but their rate is not good at all compared to the former

so you have two choice only

I'm using miningsweden as well. it's a new operation but the operator is pretty forthcoming and transparent about his operation.

I need more proof then they show.  Where are they located on datacenter?   Is there pictures of datacenter, and miners?

I just don't see any mention of what hardware... which is something that makes it a no go for me.  I need concrete proof of mining with X hardware and it to be a valid claim.

Keep in mind around half of the images of datacenters posted by companies here have been fake so far, if not more. People need to push for VERIFIED images.

That is why companies vouching for gear is a big deal.  I know Bitfury has done it at least once.  And of-course there is hashnest which we know is tied to bitmain.

Hashnest you really cant go wrong with.  I highly recommend researching before investing in cloud, sadly to many scam sites.

No, only admins can do that. They usually require a signed message though. If the guides above are not helping, let me know which wallet software/service you use. I can check whether they allow signing and make a guide is possible.

Also if people out there are reading this if you have not already stake a BTC address in meta.  It helps if you need to recover an account ever, as you have a address you can easily point to.

But be warned it can be a slow process.  Admin's are busy so can be take a bit.  And if stolen where 2 claim it's theirs it will take even longer I'm guessing.
Until this thread I wasn't aware we could use the forum address spot to prove ownership.

you have properly been too busy posting all over the place to get signature rewards instead of reading and educating yourself about the basics....

He could not read Meta.  If you don't read meta you will not see near as many of these.  Meta is full of them as it sadly happens to often it seems.   I suggest people to read Meta there really is some good info in it sometimes.

Make sure to stake a address in meta if you have not.  It could save you or others.
3170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: December 27, 2015, 02:21:27 AM
There is no free AND fast way, really, I learned the long way around that it takes. Hell, it will even take some

Everyone want's free... it is important to remember BTC is digital money.  Even though it's digital it is still money.  So free is not easy in good amounts.  Things like faucets just pay to little.

Best is if you are full member and find a signature campaign.  Big rules don't abuse it or spam.  But if used right this is best for most.
3171  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining in my Dorm on: December 27, 2015, 02:10:10 AM
Honestly I have used those fans for a couple of mining projects including a thunder x3, with the tunnel system it should be good, make sure you don't mess up your push and pull system. (One fan pulls air into the tunnel the other pushes it out) I would also make sure you have everything on a high joule surge protector, dorm wiring sucks and caught my laptop on fire a couple years ago.

Not to mention depending on dorm some have horrible walls where you can hear your neighbors.  So if any sound's I could see some being mad during certain times like studying for test or final week.

I honestly would say send it home and mine it and pay your parents for electricity.  The last thing I wanted to do in my dorm's or apartments during college was have the sound around me or heat.   You pay a small fortune to be there... so making a little bit from 1 S3 is not worth it.
Most dorms are those weird block walls and pretty thick so sound wouldn't be too bad but the HEAT i didn't even think about how much that would suck.

Could have just been mine it had tiles on the "old" one I stayed in that was above those block walls.   Between that and the door it let sound out.   But I'm sure there are different ones out there.  I got into a brand new one and it was great.  So huge YMMV.

And of course apartments I later went to were even nicer.  And a lot better.
3172  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Want to start mining on: December 27, 2015, 02:03:50 AM
I will buy 1 s7 and buy 3 of these http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=100-W1-0500-KR

Do i need something else?? Will it work with a home plug 120V?

If at all possible I would look at 220/240.   There are just so many nice server PSU's.   That PSU just kinda seems cheap, I hate putting cheap PSU's on nice gear.

Others can chime in and see if they think the same as me or if i'm one of the few that think that on PSU's.

3173  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: s7 new farm on: December 27, 2015, 01:57:42 AM
Your S7 may last anywhere from 1 Day to 2 Years. There's no QC, these Chinese manufacturers just make'em and ship'em. With diff rocketing up and the halfing in 7 months, chances are your S7 will become obsolete before they break down.

Whaaa? You mean the QC sticker they put on it means nothing? Wink

I'd think they boot the thing to see if it runs, but i have to agree i not thinking so very strongly.

They do start them up on all I think.  Some get a "burn-in" where they truly run them but I don't think all miners get this.  Some get quick test and shipped.    Others could be in data center for a while if batch does not sell quick.

It's kinda funny now talking about no QC running them not long enough, as a year ago most would be talking about miners being used to long on "burn-in's".

Having a used ASIC is not really that bad, it kind of feel to me that if its been running stable for a while, it will be fine, as long as you use a proper PSU and a surge protector anyways. Haven't had anything break on me, yet, beside surge protectors.

Depends on the miner.   A lot are pretty good quality and will last multiple owners.  There are some dud's and some that don't work quite aswell.  Like the Dragon A1 it had a pretty crappy PSU it turned out long term.  I would guess they are still breaking.    Other miners like S3's were tanks.

So part of it depends on miner and also how previous owner treated it.  Previous owner can make a big deal.
3174  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will home mining become a myth in 2016 ? on: December 27, 2015, 01:38:11 AM
It could be an utopia, if the current miners are not profitable at 0.05 per KWh.
0.05 Is very low, perhaps the lowest price for 99% of the miners. If they can't mine with profit, yeah it will be the end for home miners...

Let's hope it never comes to that.

Who gave you info current miners are not profitable at .05?  I think you have some really bad info?

Did you calculate it or can you point to where it came from?  Current gen is still profitable unless crazy electricity.
3175  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 18 to Jan 1 diff thread setup picks are now Closed!!! on: December 27, 2015, 01:35:57 AM
@ notlist3d     I think it is going up up and away.  I waited until 40 blocks left and still think I did not pick close with my pick.

I'm hoping so traditionally we say this before Christmas I think it seemed some cashed out for holiday spending.  I thought we were lucky and did not get it but appears we might have got it just after Christmas.  It was a ugly day: http://www.coindesk.com/price/

Hopefully your right and we will see some upward swing soon.  I guess good news is we did not swing under 400... so not near as bad as a day could be.

There was Bitcoin_BOy$, but I think he got busy and I have not seen him in a bit.  I think he did a lot of the coding aspect's. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he did that).

Marco was the main one as far as campaign manager.  Everyone really does not need to worry.  In 8 months of being in it I have yet to have a week not fixed.  I have not seen a payment after hot wallet refill so not sure if it's paying or everyone will need fixed.  But I would think it would be done once he gets back from limited based off history.

3178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thinking of buying an ant miner. I have some questions. on: December 26, 2015, 07:22:10 PM
I was wanting to get into the mining game as well, I even looked at the s7s but the price i pay for electricity i would be minnig at a loss, and even if i was making a profit it wouldn't be enough to cover the costs of the rig as well. At the end of the day i would have been better off just spending any money i had planned for mining equipment on actual btc instead.

Price took a little dive, so buying is not a horrible idea in my eyes.   I think it will go back up, but timelines can be hard to pick.

But if high electricity buying BTC without mining can be a very good way to grow your BTC.   It's quick and a good exchange can make it pretty easy.

Hey,

Thats is my point, if somebody else (School) pays your project i recommend build Mining Rig on AntMiners (version S5--->)

Or MINING RIG (Made by powerful graphics cards) http://www.cryptobadger.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/step04.jpg

S5 runs hot and loud... I would not use it in a class room, that is not very good advice.  And on GPU you will not make a ton chances are you don't even make enough to pay off cards.

I would look at S3 and make it where it run's pretty quiet in your case OP.
