Depends on which phase you think bitcoin is in. If it still has not reached mass adoption, we are early adopters.
Early adopters is a marketing term and refers to the five groups of adoption. By numbers, we're still innovators, still no more then 2% of the possible users use it, and the first 2% are innovators. Sound argument. And if you buy BTCeanie BTCabies today, you would also be an innovator. Because "still no more then 2% of the possible users use [them]." Don't miss this golden opportunity to buy in on the ground floor before the price spikes again. If your Bitcoin doesn't work out, you'll have BTCeanies to fall back on. ~Happy Investing!

... Seeing as Bitcoin needs a market cap of 50-100 billion USD to become truly useful I don't think lowering it to 2 is going to attract a lot of new money.
Bitcoiner's solution to the strange loop of Bitcoin: 1. Price must go up for BTC to be useful 2. BTC must be useful for its price to go up 3. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) 4. The price will go up, PROFIT!

"Dollar averaging" is not a rational thing to do, it is only a psychological pacifier, right?
If one bought 100 coins at 800$, buying 100 more at 400$ does not compensate or alleviate the loss of the first buy. It only mixes a vexing mistake with a minor mistake to make a double dose of a medium-strength mistake. The loss from the first buy is still there. Right?
AFAIK it's a common strategy for long-term investors. By spreading out your buys you reduce your risk of buying at a local high but also reduce your chances to buy in on the cheap. DCA doesn't mean what many here think it means. Start here (not rebuilder--he knows), and don't succumb to the urge to start playing vidya until you read the whole thing. DCA particularly doesn't mean "I bought too high, so I'll make up for my mistake by buying more of the same asset as the price goes down." That's a variant of the sunk cost fallacy.

notlampchop is one of the best trolls I have ever seen. I hope he get paid well, in case he isn't he should seriously consider professionalizing his abilities.
kudos to him
No way, he's just an asshole acting out because there are no consequences. Trollfi is a great troll, because he starts conversations with innocuous-sounding questions or observations, but he's just weaving a trap to dump some bullshit on you. If it's not too painful, Please stay on topic by discussing the tanking Bitcoin price. Wrong. If you bought 100 coins at $800, you should buy 200 coins at $400. And if it drops further to $200, you should buy an additional 400 coins. Duh. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) This! That is why when you start buying BTC for the first time you start with only 10% of your funds dedicated to buying BTC. Another glimpse of the Bitcoiner mentality ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Just out of curiousity, what is your specific mentality when it comes to Bitcoin? Or are you sold out of all your positions already? You can find out by reading my posts in this thread. While I feel that it is my duty to offer bare rudiments of an education to intrepid investors and finance enthusiasts of this thread, you must make a sincere effort to learn.

@LambSucksIt's not much to think about, even while having you on ignore, one can tell when the next spike dump is coming. Two scenarios then: 1. You're either a market mover trying to accumulate more (which reminds me one of my friends in the past) 2. You're working for one. On scenario one, you're not seemingly doing much but dumping $ so that you keep the price down. FWIW: The crowd you seek is not in this place anymore; newbies don't own that much around here like they used to, let's say 1-2 years ago. From my point of view, you spend too much effort for too less the coins. On scenario two; your man is dumping too much for creating the spike dumps and he spends time & money on an idiot who's trying to fool non-existent "dumpers" on a thread that wows in every page that "next bubble is coming". Of course, you may be just here for the laughs, so help yourself... answer to this post. Oh wait; I forgot! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi57.tinypic.com%2F15plw5c.jpg&t=663&c=1o7FJ8Luj1q6Lg)
