3161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How is that laptop mining journey so far? on: March 09, 2022, 01:18:06 PM
If you have been using laptops to mine coins since 2021 I will like to know the condition of those laptops right now, are they still in good shape? And bad behaviour after those intense usage? I just want to know though because I think laptop is a good option too
If a laptop has been mining ethereum for 1 year, then the miner has paid off his investment, but I'm not sure that he can work another 1 year in mining. I asked colleagues about this, and in the first year 2-3 out of 10 laptops broke down. But I do not advise you to buy a new or used laptop for mining now.
3162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate loss on 3070 ti fixed on: March 09, 2022, 01:11:39 PM
I thought I knew it all until I bought a 3070ti GPU and mine ETH with it for days, the problem is the GPU start at 59MH and after two hours it goes down to 54MH, I fought with this for days using different LHR configs but little did I know that the issue is heat, whenever my 3070ti reached 60°C temp it loses hashrate, I turned a fan to the backplate then things go back to normal, this cards hate heat this much? Sigh  Embarrassed Embarrassed
Not all video cards consistently support hashrate in mining, and the solution to problems appears with experience.
Write your video card model in 1 post to warn other miners. I think that after replacing the thermal paste and thermal pads, this problem will be solved.
3163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Exercise some patience for now on: March 06, 2022, 09:37:29 AM
The purchase of graphics cards will be greatly influenced by the news about the end of Ethereum mining. RX7000 and RTX4 *** will appear in Q3 or Q4 and it will only be high-performance graphics cards at a very high price. Intel Alchemist needs to be watched in mining tests. In the meantime, the most video cards are RX6000 and RTX3 ***.
3164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dual mining will save the day on: March 05, 2022, 12:59:42 PM
i think ton mining will finish at about the same time as eth, raven requires more ram / core so the best alternative i think will be ergo + alph
When ethereum and TON mining ends, then dual mining ergo + alph will not help miners much to keep profit. Any calculations will show you a profit reduction of at least 5 times, which will make mining profitable only in those places where electricity is free (green) or very cheap.
3165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC miner for ravencoin exists? on: March 05, 2022, 12:52:51 PM
Guys is there any ASIC miner that can mine ravencoin algorithm or just only GPU? Also how lasting is ASIC miners compare to setting up graphic cards mining rig.
Asics can be made for any coin, but it is very important that after the appearance of asics, coin developers do not change the algorithm, as Monero developers do. And it is not profitable to declare asics for coins like ravencoin.
3166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Server cases vs open air frames on: March 05, 2022, 12:48:06 PM
in my opinion the server cases are more beautiful on an aesthetic level but the open cases are much more practical if you have to change / replace some pieces
If we talk about server cases, they require additional maintenance. It is enough to blow air through video cards in open cases, and in closed cases it is necessary to clean or wash the dust filters. Closed cases are much more expensive, so the issue of aesthetics is not always relevant.
3167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building my first mining rig became easier with bitcointalk. on: March 04, 2022, 10:58:24 AM
@F91G this question is for you, is disabling graphic cards backlight add any meaning to watt consumption I mean those lights can even take up to 10watt combine maybe I'm wrong but I've never disabled my GPU backlight since u bought them.
5 watts per hour, 120 watts per day, 43.2 kilowatts per year
One of the famous sayings of the great inventor Benjamin Franklin was “A penny saved is a penny earned.”
If you are not using it as an emergency lighting, it is best to turn it off.
3168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question about Micro ATX mobo on: March 04, 2022, 10:45:24 AM
Can micro ATX motherboards work for crypto mining? I've never used one before and there are few explanations about CPU  and Chipset determines the amount of PCI lanes that can work, if this true? It's pretty old and only have three pcie slots, 1 16x and two 1x slot.
Any dual core processor will work with 3 graphics cards. I used old motherboards with intel processors with socket 775 and AMD with socket AM2 for 4 video cards, but they did not last long. I have had no problems with the RX 470-580 series and Nvidia 1xxx and 2xxx series, but I don't know how your motherboard will work with the latest AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. Need to check.
3169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Server cases vs open air frames on: March 04, 2022, 10:39:47 AM
Are server cases for mining worth it over open airframes? Which one are you usingng and which one is your favorite please tell us why, the only issue I have with server cases is the noise of the fans what about you?.
The cheapest solution is an open case. It can be used for video cards RTX 3050-3070 and analogues, and for RTX 3080-3090 you need to use closed cases, because they provide good cooling.
I don't see the point in using the RX 580 in a closed case. It is very expensive.
3170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My second bigger mining farm project is coming on: March 04, 2022, 10:35:00 AM
An RTX 3070 or RX6800XT will work out of the box in the cheapest open case. In summer, you may need to make ventilation. These video cards do not require maintenance (replacement of thermal pads and thermal paste for 3 years). The RTX 3090 is a problematic graphics card. For colleagues on the mining farm, some video cards work with a hashrate of 80-110 megahash. No need to think that you are lucky, and all video cards will give the maximum hashrate.
3171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dual mining will save the day on: March 04, 2022, 08:48:17 AM
If ETH 2.0 happens dual mining will save the day, ETH + ALPH is now more profitable than mining just ETH and also ETH+TON but once ETH is down we will see RVN+ ALPH and ERGO+TON just for example, I'm expecting this from Trex devs as they are capable to.
I am also very interested to see this, but RVN mining is probably the hottest and switching to RVN + ALPH mode will overheat the video card a lot. TON mining will end in 4 months, I think that by this time Ethereum will not change the algorithm yet.
3172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A strange error on: March 04, 2022, 08:43:41 AM
I'm using hive OS to mine ETH with a Vega 56 and two small cards (1660s) but when I on the rig it reboots instantly once mining is about to start, I'm using teamredminer for the Vega and Trex for the 1660s, another thing I noticed is this

GPU 0: 1660s
GPU 0: Vega 56
GPU 1: 1660s

Shouldn't that be GPU 0, GPU 1, GPU 2....Huh?
First, reinstall the video cards on the mining farm. Green video cards (Nvidia) come first, then red video cards (AMD).
Reinstall Hive OS. Use the latest version. Check the miner settings, it may be a configuration error.
3173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My second bigger mining farm project is coming on: March 04, 2022, 08:35:16 AM
To all the big miners on bitcointalk your attention is needed right now as i'm planning on building a big mining space in style with 50 pieces of RTX3090 graphic cards what and what is the best advice you can give me? Cheap electricity is available so no advice on that needed.. I will surely drop some pic once it's up and running.
My only advice is to think carefully before buying RTX 3090 graphics cards, because they are very hot. You will have problems with overheating and you will lose hashrate, this is the main problem with these video cards. I'd rather buy more RTX 3070 graphics cards. Or 50% 3070 and 50% RX6800XT.
3174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Things are changing fast around crypto on: March 03, 2022, 01:33:42 PM
There is a rumor that intel are building their own bitcoin miner and it's going to be a lot less cheap than other ASIC miners out there, is this for real?.
Intel Details Its Bitcoin-Mining 'Bonanza Mine' Chips and 3,600-Watt Miner

If you are interested in ASICs, then wait for reviews of this ASIC by well-known bloggers.
3175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm suspecting my 1200w power supply on: March 03, 2022, 01:29:00 PM
This can actually be a stupid question but if it is do pardon me, I think my power supply 1200watt is faulty, its akasa brand the thing is whenever I use the generator to power the power supply my bulbs will start flickering/shaking like unstable current, at first I thought it was the generator but I powered a pressing iron on it with takes 1400watt and the light/current was very stable, I also use another power supply it's stable too, is the 1200watt power supply faulty?
Use a power supply tester
https://aliexpress.ru/item/1005001359834960.html?
I don't have one, so I connect some old hard drives and/or DVD drives to the power supply, connect the green and black wires to a 24 pin connector, and measure the voltages with a multimeter. Tests must be performed on a working 110/220 volt power outlet.
3176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I still use molex on: March 03, 2022, 01:20:23 PM
for sata/molex connector powering only one riser for low power GPU, like a 570/580. if connect more than one riser will be burn cable or connector(no matter what quality of PSU/Gold or Platin). Modular PSU not good for this job. tried with cooler master 1200w platin series too. For high power GPU's connecting direct 6 pin pci-e cable from PSU.
I have more than 5 years 2 raisers connected to 1 branch of the power supply. The raiser does not draw more than 75 watts. The only problem is the poor quality adapters that come with the raisers. I do not use them, but connect the power supply directly to the raiser.

I agree with you, but we can't  find everytime good quality components or cables.
You can not use low-quality power supplies, because these are big risks for video cards that will work for years without interruption. The problem of a video card with a cheap and poor cooling system can be solved, but the problem of a low-quality power supply can only be solved by replacing it.
3177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ergo mining question on: March 03, 2022, 01:15:30 PM
Why do ergo coin have higher hashrate over other coins but less profits from mining the coin?
For miners, the current profit is important, so the hashrate will be distributed among the coins according to the mining profit. And mining services with automatic selection of the best coin will correct the rest of the differences. If you are interested in the popularity of a coin, then you need to count how many identical video cards are currently mining it (if there are no ASICs).
3178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are small miners doing right now? on: March 03, 2022, 01:05:11 PM
The first rule about lolnero is you don’t talk about lolnero.
The second rule of lolnero: "If you know about lolnero, then you should mine it" Grin
3179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building my first mining rig became easier with bitcointalk. on: March 03, 2022, 12:55:23 PM

Thank you Bitcointalk Forum  Smiley
Disable graphics card backlight. This will save you a few watts. And after assembling the farm, carefully connect the wires so that they do not fall into the fans. If your power supply's fan is horizontal, it's best to mount the power supply vertically. Less dust will get into your PSU and the fan will last longer.
3180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Things are changing fast around crypto on: March 02, 2022, 11:11:52 AM
I got a GPU buying order from China on rtx2060 do you think it's a good time to buy GPU? I'm expecting bear market in February but things are looking different this time around, history isn't repeating itself anymore.
If you bought this video card for $500, then a simple calculation shows that the payback is 431 days at $0.06 per kilowatt. This is a very bad indicator, if we assume the imminent end of Ethereum mining. Now I'm more negative about buying video cards for mining.

Ethereum mining will not end soon. As many other predicted - it will end mabye in 2024 or so. Vitalik must test his PoS system on Doge coin first  Cheesy
I hope you are as good a miner and investor as you are a prankster. Because now the purchases of video cards for mining are decreasing, as evidenced by the statistics of decreasing prices for video cards in stores. But if you are right, then I will not cry.
