3161  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to my trust. Admins, help me please... on: February 04, 2019, 03:08:17 PM

I am here at the forum with only one goal - to take part in social media bounties. If it would be possible to participate in the bounties without an account on bitcointalk, I wouldn't register any.

Well at least you are honest about it. Unfortunately for you, you don't put yourself forward as a desirable member with that statement, and I didn't read any more of your post. Hopefully your red trust will lead you to find some other method of bounty hunting, and the publicity from this thread may discourage others from starting.

Of course you could always reflect on the minimal earnings you will get from bounty spamming, and you could read the threads in this forum to learn of the myriad of more profitable alternatives.
3162  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti EU; capitalists Brits, are facing starvation due to Brexit on: February 04, 2019, 01:53:12 PM
As of right now, Britain is buying food from the rest of the EU due to it being profitable for the EU to sell it there

We buy food from the rest of the world because the Bilderberg bunny ( Margaret Thatcher ), started the UK shift from production and manufacturing into being a service provider. The EU forced the destruction of a lot of our high quality farming to enforce their inferior standards. It was heartbreaking to see tradition English apple orchards in Kent being burnt, just so that we could import French pap for cider making. It's even worse when you consider meat production.
3163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti EU; capitalists Brits, are facing starvation due to Brexit on: February 04, 2019, 11:44:58 AM
What a load of old tosh.

We are told that we face starvation because we won't be able to import our fish that is caught by EU members states - solution, catch it ourselves, and reduce the cost to the UK
We are told that our farmers face ruin because they can't export meat to the EU. Solution, eat it ourselves - it's higher quality than the stuff produced in the EU.

I could fill a page with similar comments.
3164  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 04, 2019, 11:06:14 AM

So, it would be better for Venezuela to not have any assets? (Obviously not)

Venezuela has an enormous number of assets, and this made it one of the richest South American countries a few years ago, We aren't really talking about that though, we are discussing a large quantity of gold that is the property of the Venezuelan people.

Giving it to Maduro. who has a bad record of economic management, is unlikely to help the people
Giving it to Guaidó, who is a graduate of George Washington University ( the US school for foreign regime change activists) is unlikely to help the people of Venezuela, and is more likely to be used to enrich the elite bankers, and to foment even more violent dissent in the country.

3166  Other / Serious discussion / Bulls, bears and accumulators. on: February 04, 2019, 10:47:44 AM
Over the years I've read a lot about investing and speculating in various markets. Almost all of the references are to bulls and bears, and long term investors are encouraged to "price average" if they don't want to get involved in any analysis of price movements. As a result of my recent dabbling in short term trading, I'm going to the conclusion that there is a third phase that should be considered. This is an accumulation phase, of course, it could be argued that this a part of bull activity, as it requires good fundamentals before one considers accumulation. I'm not sure I agree with the bull part of that statement, as it is more as if the bulls are pawing the ground in a corner of the arena, and the accumulators are hunting around collect seed corn for their collection bags.

I think Bitcoin is in an accumulation phase, and this could last for a few months longer. This has caused me to change attitudes over my speculation wallet. I have been trying to keep the balance long in fiat to take advantage of the bear market. I think it may be time to change this to being long in Bitcoin to take advantage of a more bullish trend. I'm only talking about my speculation wallet, as I believe that an investment wallet should remain long in bitcoin.

What do you guys think about this emphasis?
3167  Other / Meta / Re: How does this forum differ from a dictatorial regime on: February 03, 2019, 02:03:13 PM
It is the systems that need analysing and fixing so that everyone is treated equally and fairly.

That only works if all members are equal and responsible.
3168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The price of Bitcoin is going down because the price is going down, on: February 03, 2019, 12:38:01 PM
Well he also says that the reason the price goes up is because the price is going up.

The other truism I like is " It has been proven scientifically that people who have more birthdays live longer "
3169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 03, 2019, 12:12:18 PM
I think there is more of a parallel with Libya, and look what happened there.
3170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The price of Bitcoin is going down because the price is going down, on: February 03, 2019, 10:50:22 AM
I thought that this short(ish) video covered some interesting points, The thread title is just one of the truisms in it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOSjnDDXVBs

Far more interesting is the interview with the founder and CEO of Twitter and Square, where he states that Bitcoin will be the currency of the Internet. Also, I noticed that the video poster is accepting tips via Lightning, and this is something that I think other content producers should be considering.
3171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 03, 2019, 10:25:22 AM
Venezuela's greatest problem is that it has the world's largest oil reserves, and the second largest gold reserves, and some other stuff. Everybody want to take control of these assets, and unfortunately the people are the ones who suffer as a result of this. Guaido is a graduate of the American regime change college, and may well turn out to be worse for Venezuela than Maduro, and that must be a pretty extreme comment.
3172  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get a guidelines sticky on beginners and help? on: February 03, 2019, 10:06:22 AM
One thing the mods could do is to take account of comments in the OP. In the case of my thread, I stated why I was posting it in the beginners forum, but this was ignored, and the move rendered the thread useless as an aid for newbies.
3173  Other / Meta / Re: The clubroom - another radical idea from Jet Cash on: February 02, 2019, 05:15:38 PM
Taking part in informed and interesting discussions is enough rewards for me. It stops being rewarding when there is bad posting behaviour, bitching, and self aggrandisation. I'd also like to contribute a bit towards global income equality, and I don't mean just giving away money.
3174  Other / Meta / Re: I locked my beginners price discussion thread, on: February 02, 2019, 05:09:43 PM
I need to spend some time on domain admin, so I'm going to let you guys play in  this thread from now on.

Be nice to each other, and ignore crypto's implied suggestion that we should have yellow tags in trust for people like me who are afraid to speak their minds. Smiley
3175  Other / Meta / Re: I locked my beginners price discussion thread, on: February 02, 2019, 03:53:01 PM
@crybabyhunter - The forum is awash with your tears.

My actions and posts are an attempt to save the forum, and to create an interesting place for sensible discussion between people of all abilities and nations.

I think my next thread will be a request for the ability to award merits to certain members for NOT posting  on the boards. Smiley
3176  Other / Meta / Re: I locked my beginners price discussion thread, on: February 02, 2019, 12:34:39 PM
I think I'm still pissed off with this move. I was going to start another merit awarding thread, but I'm reluctant to put in the effort now.

Mods should be aware of the social impact of their myopic decisions.
3177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 02, 2019, 09:40:39 AM

Funny you brought this here, because today came news about the Maduro regime hastily selling gold to the United Arab Emirates, and there are rumors gold was sent in "that Russian plane", possibly with their families.

I posted this in the Fit to Talk project, and I hoped to get some replies from Venezuelans.

Quote from: Jet Cash
Venezuela is selling a large consignment of gold to the UAE, and I find the political ramification quite fascinating. Because of the US sanctions, Venezuela is probably having to offer a 5% or so discount on the price, and the UAE will be able to melt the gold and recast it, and thus gain its full value. They are paying in Euro, and it is not clear how this money will be used. It is claimed that it will be used to purchase food, but it is more likely that it will be used to purchase light crude oil to replace the oil it purchased from the US. This can be mixed with the heavy Venezuelan oil to create a product that can be sold on the open market. This has two damaging effects on the US. Not only is it depriving the US of a useful oil exchange, but it is introducing yet more oil sales that are not based on the dollar. Maduro will be gaining the revenue from both the sale of the gold, and the sale of the heavy Venezuelan oil, and this could well be diverted.

So what can the US do about it> Not a lot in my opinion. The UAE is assisting the US in its attempt to force regime change in Iran, so they won't want to rock that boat. There is also the problem of Maduro's grasp on the army. The US want a number of senior Venezuelan army officers to be prosecuted for drug offences and other alleged crimes, so they are likely to continue to support Maduro.

I'll try to get some more info, and take the article to the political board here.
3178  Other / Meta / Re: The clubroom - another radical idea from Jet Cash on: February 01, 2019, 07:53:06 PM
I admit that the moving of my thread triggered my line of thought. I do not accept that the move was correct or reasonable. The whole point of the thread was to garner newbies opinions ( and to award a few merits on the side ). moving the thread to a board that is unlikely to be visited by newbies is an elitist action ( to hijack an opinion by one of my detractors ), and made the whole thread useless.

Anyway I started this discussion in the hope that a few of the ideas and suggestions that it has provoked can be used to improve some of the other boards. People have been suggesting that something has to be done for months now, so my opinions are hardly new or unique.
3179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should the UK return the Venezuelan gold? on: February 01, 2019, 07:43:17 PM
My point was that the US has built such refineries, and it is allowing them to go bankrupt because they aren't easy to convert, The loss of their output has pushed up prices in the US. I'm not an oil expert, but I believe that the heavy oil id actually of higher quality, and, yes, it has to be mixed with lighter oil to simplify processing. I think Sweetlight crude is used for this. The sanctions appear to be more damaging to the US than to Venezuela. China seems to be buying the oil at discounted prices, and this gives them another edge over the US.
3180  Other / Meta / Re: The clubroom - another radical idea from Jet Cash on: February 01, 2019, 07:35:32 PM
Who started this elitist crap? I said everybody from newbie up, and I also suggested a method for non-English speakers to contribute.  At the moment the only place they can do this is in Fit to Talk. This would bring the capability back to Bitcoin Talk.

It would be more democratic than any other board, and with 12 (say) legendaries, there could even be a type of appeal process.

Not wanting listen to rubbish topics that one left behind in the kindergarten isn't elitist imho.
