3161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: majority of blockchain project has lost focus on: November 02, 2019, 12:27:11 AM
So many projects are scams because people think it's easy to start a coin and make money. They think it's all about advertising so they put money in to create beautiful sites, animated graphics advertising videos, pay influencers start discord channels and then there's not enough interest so they scam to take people's money and get something out of it.

Starting a crypto company is not an easy thing and it takes time. People want money to start flowing in a month or two and get fucked.
3162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How NOT To Get Scammed on: November 01, 2019, 10:01:49 PM
I think learning and gaining experience is also important to avoid fraud. Newbies often have no knowledge of what they're about to face, so they are the most vulnerable subjects.

It's the most important. You have to learn to keep distance and be suspicious of every project. Sometimes you need to get hurt first to develop this attitude towards investments and sometimes it's enough to see others get hurt. Let's hope you belong to the second group.

Experience does wonders and you can see it by watching old members of this community. They almost never fall victim to scams byt 50% of newbies do.
3163  Economy / Economics / Re: I'll Contend: There's Absolutely Nothing Shady, Corrupt or Criminal About Tether on: November 01, 2019, 09:50:51 PM
I guess Tether might work for people who cannot exit to fiat for some reason like taxes or lack of bank account that accepts USD but want something stable but I don't believe in USDT and I wouldn't hold my coins there even if I had to.

Tether is too shady for my taste and the lies they were telling and lack of transparency destroyed its reputation in my eyes. Tether makes me think of a small private bank somewhere in Nigeria where people speak broken English and nobody knows anything but everybody is smiling and nodding. Would you trust them with your money?
3164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is running DASH masternode more profitable than HODLING bitcoin? on: November 01, 2019, 09:39:03 PM
It can be more profitable but it's also much more dangerous. The price of Dash does not only depend on its own performance but on the performance of Bitcoin. Running a masternode is a big investment and you will be holding a lot of Dash so you can be happy for a time because the rewards from masternode will be good but if the coins that you're holding in collateral lose value you'll take a big hit.

It's possible to lose more money in 1 day than the masternode fees gave you in a year just because dash price took a hit following a dump on Bitcoin.
3165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I Just Love the Game of a Totalitarian State on: November 01, 2019, 09:17:25 PM
Can't say I like what they're doing. A government that is undecided and first bans something to later change their stance by 180 degrees and threaten people who don't like it only proves that the government is unstable. How can they rule the country if they don't know what's good for their people. This year it's bed 2 years later it's good what next?

Smart Chinese people should move to Hong Kong.
3166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Prediction 2020 – What to Expect? on: November 01, 2019, 09:04:18 PM

I don't see it as something very bullish now. It's indicating that its current channel is closing. You can see that by lower highs and lower lows. We are getting squeezed and after a squeeze like that there's always a breakout. It can be bullish or bearish you can never know that for sure.

The volume on those pushes up is also not very high so don't get your hopes high we may have to wait until next year for a real bullish move.
3167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What scares you the most? on: November 01, 2019, 08:05:35 PM
Probably being hacked or catching a keylogger trojan that or some other thing that will allow someone to take control of my computer. This would be much worse than simply losing money i have on an exchange because in time a hacker would gain access to all my personal information bank accounts contacts, all email addresses, everything.

At this point losing your presence in the Internet is worse than losing a job.
3168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where is Facebook coin going on: October 31, 2019, 01:33:52 AM
The government is pushing hard against the Libra token and I think it's because if that project is successful, it would put too much power in the hands of someone who has proven not to be reliable in the past where money and information is concerned, who remembered when Zuckerberg was fighting hard against crypto? Suddenly he has seen the earning potential and wants to milk it for all it's worth, I sincerely hope it doesn't come to fruition.

And maybe it would start a global trend to accept cryptocurrencies on a wider scale because Facebook would not be afraid to put serious money into advertising campaigns. This is something Bitcoin is not doing because it's decentralized but maybe this is the way to full acceptance. Centralized fiat money turning into centralized cryptocurrency and finally into decentralized cryptocurrency.
3169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is the single most influential person in Bitcoin? on: October 30, 2019, 11:58:13 PM
if you asked 5 years ago i would have said andreas, but he seems to b very core band campy more so then open bitcoin network where any dev has as much chance as any other to offer up the next bugfix/innovation for the network

if h went back to how he told things in the early days he would be more popular in many peoples eyes

these days. 'influencers' dont have a clue. they just promote brands just to get people to buy things

If there was no Bcash and Bsv Andreas wouldn't need to take sides and be pro core as you call it. I think he's not pro core. He's pro bitcoin. The other things are alts and they are not bitcoin. They are Bcash, Bgold, BcashSV, and the whole other bunch of them. There's Bitcoin and there are altcoins.

They used to say Jihan is the most influential person but that was a long time ago. Some people think Pumpkin Man Craig is influential Grin
3170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will BCH even be worth mining after the halving? on: October 30, 2019, 11:35:46 PM
I think Halving can't guarantee a price increase for BCH. the price increase may be only a little, if we remember a few months ago there was also halving litecoin even though the price experienced a surge but only slightly.
Except if halving bitcoin, usually it always gives the most noticeable impact, if for this I am very sure.
If you want BCH mining, please go ahead. all altcoin include bch will follow the bitcoin price movements.

This is what I had in mind. The increase in BCH will happen only if there's one in Bitcoin's price first and BCH halving will happen months before BTC halving so within those months will people keep mining BCH knowing that it should be worth more but isn't and knowing that their effort could go towards BTC that is already worth mining.

You can switch from mining BCH to btc any time so the choice is obvious.
3171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will BCH even be worth mining after the halving? on: October 29, 2019, 10:00:50 PM
https://www.coingecko.com/pl/explain/bch_halving

Bitcoin is gaining more as it recovers than BCH. Even if BCH follows Bitcoin in the next bull market it still is going to be worth significantly less when compared to the last bull market when it was coming out as the next bitcoin and BTC itself was suffering from 100 dollar transaction fees.

Why would anyone want to mine BCH after the halving if its value doesn't jump enough to make it worth it?
3172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Support Or Have You Supported A Coin That Makes A Comeback on: October 29, 2019, 09:24:37 PM
It depends on the coin. If the coin was a scam nobody will support it after a comeback like people will not support the new mtgox project that they are trying to activate. It's a matter of how hard you fell. Sometimes it's so hard that you will never recover.

There was a time I thought Dogecoin was dead and it made a nice recovery. I will support coins like that which people were getting bored with but I won't support scam coins.
3173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why will you invest in something you know nothing about? on: October 29, 2019, 08:49:47 PM
People can invest in things they know nothing about and they are doing it in stocks. For this reason we have stock brokers who manage your money and choose what you invest in.

When you tell someone to invest in bitcoin and you know what it is and how it works you're like that stock broker trying to help your friend earn money. He doesn't have to understand it as long as he trusts you and you do.
3174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoin is The Best in Terms of Utility? on: October 29, 2019, 08:31:27 PM
IOTA as the most useful coin in the space? Cheesy

Every coin is in a competition in its own space. You can't say if a stablecoin is more useful than a privacy coin! They are doing a different thing and both have their use.
Probably ETH is the most useful because other projects are built on it. Many coins would not exist if ETH wasn't there like all altcoins would not exist if BTC was not there first.

I still think that we should only compare coins in their little areas of expertise. A centralized coin can't be better or worse from a decentralized coin. For me it will be worse but for someone who likes centralization it will be better and we will both be biased in opinion.
3175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TAKE A BREAK! on: October 29, 2019, 08:21:28 PM
I've already took a break for nearly half a year finalizing my bounty activities (since the era of ICO is gradually going to the end) and went into speculation and trading activity. I can take a break for a day or couple of days since I have no experience how to bear some unpredictable market movements.
And I don't need to take a break because I'm not spending too much time watching price, trading, and writing for a campaign. I'm focusing on slow and steady progress without breaking a sweat. I find time for sport, going out, reading books.

You don't always have to be all or nothing! When you work in the crypto space don't do it for 12 hours a day or you'll burn out and have to take a break!
3176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin beat Bank interest rates and inflation. :-> on: October 28, 2019, 11:22:18 PM
they have their respective advantages, we know  3 day in the good situation, so you can make big profit from buy/sell coin.
but in red day you cant make this, and you will choice put your money on bank, because still give profit while market red or not although it a little.

My bank has no advantages so I'll choose bitcoin any day. Ok it has 1 advantage that fiat money gets accepted everywhere.
I'm not even using a savings account because to keep money there you have to move it from your main account that you access with cards and this is what I do, I pay in stores.

My bank offers 2-2,5% a year. This is a joke. I can get more profit on a one greed bitcoin day. I can get more money from airdrops.
3177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Best to Safely Store Your Coins and ALTs! Bitcoin is treasure; Alts are too. on: October 28, 2019, 10:52:42 PM
Yes hardware wallet is the safest option but not all coins are supported by these devices.

There are other very safe ways to store your coins. You can download a multi coin wallet like coinomi and hold it there on a device that is kept offline most of the time. The most danger comes from downloading files especially compressed ones and opening email.
If you don't send your coins to the wrong address, don't invest in a scam, and don't hold on exchanges, you are already doing more than most investors.
3178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling risk is higher when we are on Bear Market? on: October 27, 2019, 10:58:44 PM
I don't see bitcoins like that. I don't always check its fiat value and especially the USD value because I don't trade using USD so it doesn't concern me much besides occasional TA. I like the saying that you haven't lost anything as long as you hold. The price market gives you one day can be cut by half or doubled the next day. If you don't like it don't sell.

The above would make me never gamble at high risk only because my coins lost some fiat value this day or week. Don't chase imaginary losses!
3179  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Rational Price For BTC on: October 27, 2019, 10:52:57 PM
Increasing hash rate simply indicates increased mining investments or efficiency improvements. Miners themselves are speculators. They are investing in mining operations because they expect higher prices. Like all investors, they are prone to over-speculation. Simply put, sometimes they are wrong about the market.
It's never wrong to mine for Bitcoin.

Not true. How about if you spend more mining a bitcoin than the market will pay for it? That's why miners were shutting down in November-December 2018, because the crash made them unprofitable. Those miners expected price to rise and they were very wrong.

Nobody said you have to keep selling as you mine it. When you choose to mine you know you're in for the long run. Like hodler who moves his coins out of the exchange and into a wallet generated offline then prints a paper wallet and hides it. He's not going to dig out and compromise his paper wallet every time the price dips below the price he paid. A miner can also keep mining and holding.

10k is a very rational price. We shouldn't put labels on it but it seems fair to pay this much.
3180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Profitability of Start-ups VS Venture Capital funds VS Martingale on: October 27, 2019, 10:33:11 PM
I'd like to see that guy who wrote the article martingale in a Bitcoin casino for a day and how far he'd go.

If it was such a great strategy we'd all be rich because almost every gambler has to try martingale even one time. Instead we have hundreds of people saying that martingale sucks. Go to any thread about it and you'll see pages and pages of losers.
