this is correct board.  i will ask mods to move it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=4.0

if it can't be pushed it takes 2 days to drop off and come back to you.

i have had it happen on blockchain.info

31663  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Trying to get my feet soaked in BTC mining on: May 03, 2016, 10:52:40 PM
okay  the s-7  with a free 100 dollar coupon from me  is 533 -100 = 433 + 55 shipping total = 488

new with a 90 day warranty

you need a psu.

if you can provide 240 power buy one with your s-7 order direct from bitmantech.

it is about 160.  so you would be 648 out of pocket.

the s-7 is loud and hot uses close to 1350watts at the wall.

so go here https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

plug in 4% for you diff jumps
plug in 10 cents kwatt
plug  in   4700hash rate
plug in 650 usd cost
plug in 1350 watts
plug in   450 usd for btc price

and by July 18  you will have paid off 175 on the 650 you put up. and you will be 475 in the hole
and the ½ ing will come about then and all shit will hit the fan.  As in no one know how price and diff will be affected.

I could alter some numbers for the projections but the best I could figure is price jumps to 700

so by july 18  you will have paid down  your 650 to 217

if you have really cheap power  say 5 cents and if price goes to 700 due to the ½ ing you will have paid the 650 down to 71  and should turn a profit by late august

but that is a really big if cause coins need to go to 700.

What ever you do good luck!

Okay rules

3)you get one play.

If its one lifetime play then I tried my luck last time so ignore my pick. If its one play every difficulty retarget then all fine.

I will clarify rule 3) from

3)you get one play

to  3)you get one play per adjustment. which must be yours alone, in proper format and can not be changed

but don't they need permission to do that stuff in china  i hear it's bitch to tour there all the bs they put you thu for a visa etc and then you just can't go any place you want to, so i wouldn't put past them being controlled by gov .Ive often wonder how much the gov is in control

On the other side of the coin.

I grew up in New York City.

I knew of people that owned entire City blocks of Queens and Brooklyn all via a handshake.

All government  documents did not mention the handshake owners.

So the real power for asic  can be in spots no one would really know, unless of course they are the actual holder of the real power.

If Putin sent someone to talk things over with bitfury and wanted an off the record deal with them it would happen.
If Bush/Cheney wanted a off the record deal in the USA with some company it would happen.
If the leader of China anted an off the record deal in China with some company it would happen.

Ghost ops flow in both  directions .  So the real power is hidden.

But on the surface  our game looks like asic builders.

So I would prefer someone figuring out how to program a gpu to whale at silly good numbers mining BTC  as I rather use gear from real companies.

I don't like alt coins but I see what eth coin does  and I can see that  a good gpu coin could always exist.

The eth coin market cap is about 700 million  the btc market cap is about 6300 million.

Does not take much to see a fundamental issue for asic builders vs gpu builders.

Asic builders attitude to buyers is pretty much fuck you show me the money.

Gpu builders  give service and warranties that are real.  Just a little tip and btc could slide while eth coin jumps.

The security issue is pretty much equal.

We never had an alt coin go to numbers like   .1 btc per coin  the ½ ing could do this or not.

I  Will be watching and waiting for gear from avalon.  I also tell them sell us chips  believe it or not it is a safer way to earn money for your company.

31667  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Email from Avalon on: May 03, 2016, 08:36:04 PM
Basically the asic builders have a lot of leverage over the game.

That's actually an interesting concept - we actually don't know what control they have over their own company. Consider BTCS' string pulling over Spondoolies and that we only know about it in detail because BTCS is a public company. Bitfury similarly has significant VC investment and its likely that that investment comes with control.

We don't know if the V's actually get to decide to release a generation or not and its not unreasonable to consider that the investors may usurp giving away their very expensive chip for little.

Good point for all we know bitmaintech could be 100% controlled  by Chinese government or investors.

So while it looks like asic builders are doing their thing so to speak it is not really the case.

31669  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: After the halving will bitcoin mining become not viable? on: May 03, 2016, 07:17:52 PM
How would you like to have your income cut in half by a sudden announcement? If you're a masochist, you will enjoy it; if you're not, stay away from getting into mining at this time. Too much uncertainty.

How do you know the price will double? If you're sure, invest in bitcoin directly. Why take a chance at mining, with Diff rising?

Sudden announcement?  We know about having LONG before it happens so sudden announcement is not true at all.   Look at difficulty changes: https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty.  We have almost halved not to long ago due to just new gear being plugged in:

Feb 19 2016    163,491,654,909    13.44%    1,170,318,852 GH/s
Feb 07 2016    144,116,447,847    20.06%    1,031,625,717 GH/s
Jan 26 2016    120,033,340,651    5.89%    859,232,121 GH/s
Jan 13 2016    113,354,299,801    9.12%    811,421,684 GH/s

Jan 13 - Feb 19.  Look at those stats so having... we can cause losing 1/2 of mining income due to normal expansion.  And no one can be sure on what will happen on having or what pricing will be.

To add to notlist3d's comment

@talks_cheep This is going to be a "long shot" but the next halving (12.5 to 6.25) I believe will happen around block 630,000 Wink Now that you've been warned of the next one happening you can prepare.

to me  that one will be more important then this one.  I will weather this okay  maybe not good or great but at least okay.

16nm chips over the next months.

working on a 16 nm  chip !!! ....

*yawn* Nothing interesting to see here. Bitfury had an announcement like this from December and they don't have them in mass production. *yawn*

Sure, but Avalon have an actual history of delivering their products to consumers. While Bitfury has a history of taking pre-orders, only to refund you and build their own farms instead.

They did that to me and quite a few others.

Basically the asic builders have a lot of leverage over the game.
31672  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for ANTMINER S7 6" to 4" Adapter fan duct heating cooling on: May 03, 2016, 02:15:38 PM
Just go to Home Depot and search for flex duct 12 inches or 10 inches.

He wants something that screws into the fan/mount.

You could probably repurpose one of these, in the worst case cutting them in half to get 2x and then using tape to join the duct to duct ends.

I had some made up on a 3d printer.   They raised temps 3 to 6 c.

So I do not like them.

31674  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: After the halving will bitcoin mining become not viable? on: May 03, 2016, 03:17:30 AM
So I don't understand the halving very well, will miners just make half as much? Will the price double or the difficulty change? Will bitcoin mining just become so hard it ceases to be cost effective? Am I making a mistake getting into bitcoin mining? Will people just switch to a altcoin? Sorry for all the questions, I'm still learning about bitcoin.

No one knows what the 1/2 ing will do to the price of btc.

No one knows how difficulty will be affected.

We know 1 thing blocks will pay 12.5 coins not 25.0 coins.

If you are new be careful do not bet or play all you have.

I do a 10000 usd investment .

1/3 coins 1/3 gear 1/3 cash.

Now you may not want to do 10000 investment .

Maybe you are doing less.  Just be a little more cautious about going for,too much when new.

Looking for this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ANTMINER-S7-6-to-4-Adapter-fan-duct-heating-cooling/162015404197
Not going to the very hefty price but its a great idea.
Anyone know where I can get my hands on 6 or 12 of these?

Watch for overheating.

The reduction in size restricts air speed.

Look into flex vent from Home Depot use bigger like 12 inch put the whole miner in it.

Just about 1 foot inside on intake

put a small  hole in the vent to allow your pcie cables .

Then make the exhaust side as long as you want .

Just go to Home Depot and search for flex duct 12 inches or 10 inches.

The pool is now merge mining Syscoin 2.0. In a similar way to how unobtanium was added active users have it automatically added to their account with a default address. To withdraw PM me or email admin@mmpool.org with a new syscoin address.
