Hi I have some questions that hopefully I can get help with,
I am using bitcoin core 0.11.2 on testnet, the blockchain is up-to-date.
1) When calling bitcoin-cli estimatefee I always get -1, what would be the problem?
Not enough data to determine a proper fee yet. Try bitcoin-cli estimatfee 10 and lower the number until you have the least amount of blocks it can give you an estimate for. If 10 isnt enough, you can go all the way down to 25. btw, where is 2? 3) Its possible to set the fee but is it possible to check what the current fee is is set to?
4) How does the client currently set the fees? I sent 2 standard transactions and the fees were 0.00001865 & 0.00001125. But most resources say the fee should be 0.0001 BTC per 1k/B. What am I missing here?
The default minrelaytxfee currently is 5000sat/kbyte IIRC.

OK. So as i can see there is four options. 1. Rollin have more hot wallets. 2. Bitcoin is not stolen 3. Is stolen only around 10 BTC. 3. Hacker stole BTC from hot and cold wallet. (unlikely, but still possible)
Without info from Admin we can do nothing right now.
1) Possible 2) Nope, it's confirmed that he stole over 20btc, and if you check my first post, I tracked the movement of 34,23 BTC from rollins hot-wallets. 3) That's his last withdrawal, before he withdrew around 25 btc in packets of 0.4995 4) Very unlikely. #1 Yes, they likely do, because everyone creating an account and depositing bitcoins is a new bitcoin address that is part of the hot wallet. At least, that would be normal design. Use the deposits to pay out instead of depositing into cold wallet and transfering to hot constantly.

Nothing is wrong, you create a dust output as change. Currently dust is everything below 2730 satoshi. You can either add the change output to the fee or add another input to make it bigger.

Wish I could have found this thread earlier ,things would have been quite easy. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I want to know how do we verify a message using Electrum.I use coinig but don't really like it ,there is an option in Electrum to verify but not sure how to use it.I already tried copy pasting addresses and messages in the respective boxes but does not work. Verification is very similar to signing with electrum. Put the message, the address and the signature in place and hit the verify button. When the signature is correct a small pop up comes up with "signature verified". I still have not done the pictures for those, shame on me.

It was locked very quickly after it was started so I would assume it was done by Danny as well. You can probably PM them to leave a reply.

i now have no doubt that it would've been a virus. cheers for the replies guys. so, in order to avoid this again and set myself up better upon windows reinstall (i know linux is the most solid, obvious suggestion), can fellas suggest what protection i should employ? i have bitdefender and malwarebytes but i may have installed it too late (infection could have been before and i removed everything i could find when i did the installs), i have noscript installed in firefox and i use purevpn. some of us learn the hard way and in my case it was 2btc :/ thanks in advance
The best way to protect yourself from viruses is obviously avoiding clicking on suspicious links and downloading programs. It is possible for viruses to exist in cracked versions of Windows, be careful about that. For this kind of virus, the best way is to always check the first bits of address and ensure that it's the same as what you intended. Also check the last few symbols, they contain the checksum. If the beginning and the end matches it next to impossible that someone created a specific address to fool you. Most malware that is replacing addresses is not that good, but it might be in the future. Other than that, anti virus software is not going to do much. As ranochigo said, you most likely installed or downloaded the malware yourself. Stay away from software from shady sources and make it a habit to verify the downloads. Most bitcoin related software is either PGP signed or at the very least offers checksums. For Windows systems I use HashCalc.

Ok. Thank you very much dude. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) [edit] I'm working to install Electrum on my debian server. "Electrum" is ok but "Electrum-server" leveldb 22GB? How to use Electrum-Server without leveldb... I want to RPC connect with .conf file to my web server... Please help meee! Why a server? Setting up an electrum server will put you in the same spot, the need to sync a full node. I thought thats not what you wanted? btw the electrum section is here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0

There is no reason to have encryption or decryption of messages using Bitcoin. It may not be safe as the keys are short (although I think ECKeys are still rather strong even when short). It is not integral to Bitcoin and there really is no reason to have encrypted stuff like that in Bitcoin.
if it is for the encryption scriptsig in transaction or signed ownership privkey? Think about it like this, if I encrypt my signature, how can you check if its valid? Where do I get all the PGP keys for all possible miners to avoid this issue? Whats the benefit?

Did you need to quote all that for a single sentence? Yes, really, paypal is not accepting bitcoin, but rather working with a few companies that do so. The ToS still apply and if you do a peer to peer trade, e.g. via this forum you will have problems with paypal if bitcoin was involved.

i had a dogecoin wallet through which i use in faucets and collect the dogecoins in that wallet , now i have the wallet address but which wallet this address belongs i have forget it , can anyone help me to how to find the wallet for this address
doge coin wallet address : D7Uz2LuzLCXjccYeQx8r3C3tH46GpNJod9 Balance 4,717.02109952 DOGE Transactions received 21 Received 7,372.36219039 DOGE Transactions sent 4 Sent 2,655.34109087 DOGE
No, there is no way to know which software handled the private keys for that particular address. You either remember or find a backup or lost your coins.

Hello there, over the last months I have created an arbitrage trading bot (windows application) and connected Kraken with Btcmarkets. These two are not connected by another public bot yet and generate profits up to 6%. I have tested the software over a longer period and could easily make $300-400 every few days (deposit/trading vol of approx. 10k). Most wasted time was the transfer between my bank accounts. I am looking for some interested people (max 10) who would like to test the software and get it for a discount price on a later stage. Current Features * automatic buy/ sell * manual buy/sell * uses API functions * uses web injection for more accurate updates * updates exchange rates every few minutes * does work on windows servers too Please only apply if you have: * Kraken verified account * Btcmarkets verified account ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs28.postimg.org%2Fr83joigel%2Fscreen1.png&t=663&c=Adk_hbkzMzqdJQ) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs28.postimg.org%2F7201pmkr1%2Fscreen2.png&t=663&c=F60sllTgeio59A) Post here if you are interested and I will send you a pm the next days. Cheers, telcy Magical closed source windows only software that generates money? All I hear is virus.

I'd like to see this done in such a way that one could have their address generated elsewhere, peerhpas even paying for it as a service, without the third party gaining access to the private key. There was some discussion about it, and it's certainly possible, but it seems to require code changes which are beyond my level of C...
Its possible right now. You can provide me a public key. I feed that into vanitygen with the -P flag; send you the partial(!) private key when Im done. You combine both private keys and have a private key that I have no knowledge off.

I am new user here and don't understand about it what is the use of this software can anyone tell me in simple explanation about it ?
Bitcoin core is the reference implementation for bitcoin. Its the software that makes bitcoin possible as it provides the network for transactions and blocks.

Why would you do this?
Most reasons should be easily solvable by using an RPC call instead of a second deamon, isn't it?
I am trying to understand, for example, whether somebody could run 10 bitcoin full nodes only using one single copy of the blockchain thus saving on storage costs. More specifically, I want to understand whether it is possible to prevent this behavior if it is already possible. Now you are asking the correct question. The answer is, yes its possible to fake e.g. 10 full nodes while only providing the resources (or only slightly more) of a single node. The 9 fake nodes would run custom software (not core!) that would forward the requests to the single full node. In theory this full node can be any other on the network that is available, so you could do this without running a single node. The idea to proof that you run a full node and thus get rewarded for doing so has been brought up several times. I have not seen a good solution yet. I would applaud a solution as the number of nodes decreases and the costs of running one increase.
