3 boring games today, highlight was definitely Milad Mohammadi's attempt to throw-in vs Spain...did you guys see it? the guy tried to do a front flip or whatever but failed miserably...best moment in the WC so far.

I only wish he had gone through with it and failed epicly. There's been quite a lot of bad/ fowl throws this tournament and the ref hasn't pulled a single one of them up yet.  https://twitter.com/hoeyp18/status/1007653759508500488

As I expected, another boring game from Iran vs Spain, it seems that Iran are still sticking to their same defensive strategy again, while hoping for their opponents to get frustrated and commit mistakes so Iran can punish it, despite Spain dominating the ball possession in the first half, they still can't break through Iran solid defense. I wonder if Spain are able to break Iran down in the second half of the match?

All of yesterdays games were pretty dull and they were all quite lucky to scrape wins especially Spain which was practically an own goal. I was really looking forward to the Spain and Portugal games given how they played each other in the first round but I think they both got too complacent. The tournament is very open right now and I wouldn't put money on any team as it stands. I could even see an underdog winning or going very far.

I missed predicting any results today due to having some internet problems at home. Fortunately, I predicted the correct score for Senegal, and hopefully that's at least saved me a little bit.

Senegal are currently my underdogs of the tournament as they have some real players in the team.

Fill in all your scores now. You can change them all at a later date but at least if you forget or can't put them in for whatever reason then you still have something down.

Can anyone choose a joker match for today's games? The option doesn't seem to be there.
3182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: June 20, 2018, 02:34:56 PM
Do you want the details? The first thread of some weeks ago was about how the Korean government started using blockchain for their own purposes. I was deeply baffled when I saw it deleted, while value-less new comments about e.g. Satoshi's identity stay.

This is a bitcion forum. If it was a thread merely about blockchain tech used by the Korean government in Bitcoin Discussion then that's probably why it was trashed. Unless it's related to bitcoin then it'll be trashed or moved into the appropriate sub.

And today? I started a thread discussing the new Metronome coin and its unusual sale strategy. I even got replies. What was my sin here? Is a decreasing price sale more meaningless than the n-th post about how great or horrible BTC is without any argument, or often without any grammatical structure? Was my sin the fact that I mention I'll buy some Metronome?

Earnest replies appreciated. I'm a noob on the forum trying to discuss what I deem to be serious questions and points, because this is how I view this whole story. I have some respect for what is going on here, so I'm baffled by my posts seemingly being considered pointless and insulting, while I'm kept in the dark as to why this is so.

Did you post it in Bitcoin Discussion? If so, then discussion about alt coins doesn't belong there. Threads containing ref links or just 'buy this coin' threads are also trashed.
3183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 20, 2018, 12:28:49 PM
^  Pretty much the same except for a couple matches or so past the KO stages.

You really think Germany can win back to back WC trophies, or it just happened when you were doing your bracket?  Grin

Well they probably won't now if they play like they did verses Mexico. I think I chose Brazil on my other one and would have chose them if I could have edited it before but you couldn't. They haven't done much either.. Spain and Portugal have probably been by far the better teams so far.

I admit, my bracket past the KO stage was based on how I felt at that time.  Lol.  'I pick this and this and this...'.  Cheesy

Well how else are you meant to play it?  Cheesy
3184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 20, 2018, 11:39:02 AM
^  Yup.  I got Uruguay and Russia to go thru to the KO stages in that group.

I also had Uruguay and Russia to go through and in that order. I would have probably backed Egypt second had Salah been fit from the start, but even still, home advantage is usually a huge boost and Russia might even finish top of their group right now, but I think Uruguay should finish them off.

And I'm hoping to get more points from the bracket challenge...  Anybody care to share their brackets?

Sure. No harm in that since we can't change it: https://bracketchallenge.fifa.com/bracket/prediction/1c46aa425934ebd72908
3185  Economy / Reputation / Re: Quickseller receives 20BTC, does not do work, keeps $ **not disputed!** on: June 20, 2018, 11:23:12 AM
Briefly messaged Quickseller last night.

Has has ZERO interest in returning the stolen coins, and is just waiting for everyone to get forget so he can once again claim he has never scammed.  :/

There probably isn't any scam here. Either Quickseller has always been Tradefortress or he just controlled the Tradefortress account at the time of the deal and he just sent the coins to himself just to try shit you up (or he never controlled that address in the first place and TF sent coins to himself).
3186  Other / Meta / Re: I got a banned for like 7 days(january) but till now it haven't gone yet. on: June 20, 2018, 11:22:46 AM
Your account has zero posts. Sometimes when bans are issued a mod can forget to put the duration of the ban in and if that happens then the ban becomes indefinite. In this case you've probably had an initial temp ban then someone has decided to nuke you after for whatever reason. If this is the case then nuked accounts are permanently banned and won't be restored.
That means i got a permanent ban but only got noticed 7 days because a mod forget to extend the duration of the ban? Sounds reasonable Smiley.

No. Read what I said. You probably got a seven day ban initially, then after got a permanent one for whatever reason. Let's say you get a seven day ban for spamming, but then a mod sees you have been copy and pasting and permabans you, then that obviously overrides your initial ban. If it was a mistake then the ban could be removed but since your account has been nuked then that's a permanent ban.
3187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 20, 2018, 11:20:11 AM
The ref made a bad decision waving the player to come back on when he did. Gifted them they goal as you could see the Polish defender was obvious to him being there.
How was that a bad decision from the ref?

If anything the whole thing was a bunch of mistakes from Poland: laughable mistake from Krychowiak (horrendous backpass...wtf was he trying to do?), then the oblivious polish defender thought there was no one around so he stopped running, a second later he saw Niang but it was too late, Szczesny realized his teammate was on another dimension so he started running but Niang got to the ball first...in conclusion, correct call from the ref, great reaction from Niang, crucial mistake by Poland for not being aware of what's happening on the pitch.

Yes, Poland made mistakes but the backpass probably wouldn't have happened if they knew there was a player there. He shouldn't have been waived on at such a time. He was off the pitch and out of play and was waived on whilst the ball was in the air and Poland were oblivious which gave Senegal a huge advantage which they unfairly capitalised on. The Senegal player was past the last defender so how are you meant to know about that? He essentially sneaked on.

I also did not notice that I can get extra points from the bonus points and from the Joker. Any clues on how many points we can earn from the bonus points?

It tells you how many potential points you can get when you make your prediction.

Russia are looking pretty good in this world cup tournament, I guess the home ground advantage with the home fans cheering for the team really helps to boosts up a lot of confidence for the Russian players, despite Mohamed Salah playing in this match against Russia, Egypt are still unable to overcome the mighty Russian and became the first team to be eliminated from this tournament.

I wouldn't give them too much credit. They've played shit teams and will probably go straight out in the group stage as they'll be facing likely Spain or Portugal. Lets see how they fare against Uruguay in their last game.
3188  Other / Meta / Re: The core of Bitcointalk's spam problem on: June 20, 2018, 10:17:53 AM
I might suggest creating a voting system to each post or reply where each and everyone of us have an option to like or press that trash button. An automated system will count those votes and if a specific number of LIKE votes will be given, an automatic merit will be rewarded. If a specific number of TRASH votes will be given, that post will be deleted automatically. How's my idea guys? That makes sense right?

Isn't this suggestion pretty much what the merit system already is? If you like a post them give it merit. Allowing everybody to have the unlimited power to like or dislike any post they want would just lead to colossal abuse though and wouldn't work (not to mention it would never be implemented). People would bot the hell out of this or just 'like' posts on their alt accounts and dislike the posts of people they don't like to get their posts removed.
3189  Other / Meta / Re: Alternative solution for ranking up instead of merits on: June 20, 2018, 10:11:20 AM
I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting here. You want to just give merit out automatically for posts that are not in the bounty section? The entire issue with the ranking system here prior to the merit system was that all you needed to do was to log in once a fortnight to make a single post and you could collect the same activity as anyone else. You could do this on hundreds of accounts and people were doing exactly this. If we just dish out merit merely for posts then it's practically the same as it was before. Yes, merit isn't easy to get but it shouldn't be. Make quality posts over time and you should get the merit eventually.
3190  Other / Meta / Re: Expiration of sMerits on: June 20, 2018, 10:06:25 AM
Merit system has been in the circulation for almost 5 months and as of now the issue of earning merits for new members and even those who have been here for a long period is still a hot topic.
I think if sMerits will have an expiration date, people will be obliged or will become more active in giving merits to others instead of losing it, this will actually helps many members like me.

If they have an extirpation date then I would probably just give much more merits for certain posts ie double or triple them instead of just handing out 1-5 per post. I certainly wouldn't just desperately give them out to any old random lower-ranked member just because they're going to be wasted otherwise. This suggestion really won't help you out at all unless you're making quality posts and are already receiving merits. I would work on the quality of posts rather than trying to change the merit system because the former will be more fruitful here.
3191  Other / Meta / Re: The core of Bitcointalk's spam problem on: June 20, 2018, 09:53:11 AM
I think we all agree that the spam amount at Bitcointalk still is too high. The merit system perhaps has improved the situation a little bit, but even that is debatable.

The merit system doesn't really stop spam, it just stops users being able to rank up with spam/poor contributions so most now put more effort into their posts. The merit system helps and is a huge step in the right direction but it does nothing about lower ranked accounts spamming away who are still able to get on to alt coin campaigns (and half of them will accept anyone of any rank because it's still better than having nobody advertise for them).

Solutions?

- One could restrict campaigns, e.g. only allow campaigns that pay out in Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency that has an independent blockchain and is not an ICO token.
- Stricter control of Bounty managers.

Both solutions would require additional efforts by the forum staff.

These are all things I've suggested before and as long as there's no rules or regulations for signature campaigns they will continue to be greedy and lazy and pay people to spam but until there are punishments for poorly run campaigns and their managers then nothing will change.

^  Yup wtf.  I predicted 1 - 0 for Colombia and penalty to Falcao for the bonus just minutes before the game.  Lol fml.

But I feel good about my Poland vs Senegal.  My joker fixture.  It should get me a chance to fight for second place...  I hope.

I had 2-0 to Columbia. The handball was silly. It would have been better to let it go in and play one nil down than with ten men (and also 1-0 down after the penalty).

Had Poland to win one nil but Senegal became the first African team to win. The ref made a bad decision waving the player to come back on when he did. Gifted them they goal as you could see the Polish defender was obvious to him being there.
3194  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are Bitcoin Casinos Legal ? on: June 19, 2018, 05:11:02 PM
Asking whether bitcoin casinos are legal is like asking whether is cannabis legal or not. Well, it depends on the specific laws of your country. If your country requires licences for them to run and to comply with anti-money laundering and know your customer laws and they don't then they're probably not technically legal or allowed to operate in that jurisdiction. I would check your own countries laws and what they require for an online gambling business to operate because nobody can give you a concrete answer without knowing where you reside.
3195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 08:26:18 PM
I had 2-0 down. Always annoying when someone scored and ruins your chance of getting a perfect score. England played mediocre as expected. Tunisia deserved the point but a vital win as I doubt they'll get anything from Belgium but should beat Panama (emphasis on should).

Still can't see where that 'joker' bonus option is either.
You can select one game per matchday and get double points for that game. You just need to click on that match on predictions page.

I see the icon now, but how do you know if it's been chosen?
3196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 06:02:22 PM
Yeah, first half was 50/50 but Belgium deserved the goals in the second half.

Can anyone get on to the piece of shit website? My predictions aren't loading up at all and the leaderboard shows but doesn't load when I click on it. It's better have logged my scores. Sometimes I check back and there's a couple that haven't. Missed out on a lot of the bonus questions because of the site never loading. Still can't see where that 'joker' bonus option is either.
3197  Other / Meta / Re: Its just a Question sir! on: June 18, 2018, 04:51:53 PM
Bonus:
I suggest you stop calling anyone else in the forum with Sir, Mr., etc. because these words show that you are from third world.

What's wrong with that?

Bonus
I suggest you ignore bonuses that aren't so helpful (it's not difficult to ignore).

I think most people just find it annoying in the way that it's used. It's usually always followed with a load of begging or whining by illiterate spammers who overuse it when they are pleading for their account back after being banned for spamming/copy and pasting or whatnot. I get that they're probably just trying to be polite, but it always just comes across as sycophant-ish and fake to me and many others seem to feel the same way.
3198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 04:43:10 PM
It seems that it have became a trend for weaker team to play a full defensive strategy against the favorites team, it is another boring game between Belgium vs Panama now, I hope Belgium would be able to demolish Panama hard in the second half of the game.

What else can they do? First half was very dull but the second half has been much better and how Belgium should be playing, though they've still done nothing special (especially considering who they're playing).

Hah!  I finally figured it out.  There's no bug in the predictor.  Everyone gets 76 points just for guessing the right total number of goals for the match.  I was kinda worried I'd be -76.  Lol.

You can see how the scores work in the Rules

Yup missed that.  It's actually in the first page.  Lol.

Anyway 0 - 0 for Belgium vs Panama.  Have them at 2 - 0 and Lukaku for most shots...  Which I kinda knew was a mistake because Hazard.

Edit:  YES!  Now hold that line...

Well it's 3-0 now with five minutes to go and I'm hoping it stays that way so I can get my second correct score of the day  Cheesy.
3199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 18, 2018, 02:29:01 PM
Hah!  I finally figured it out.  There's no bug in the predictor.  Everyone gets 76 points just for guessing the right total number of goals for the match.  I was kinda worried I'd be -76.  Lol.

You can see how the scores work in the Rules:

Quote
Points and Scoring
For each match, points are awarded for:

Predicting the correct scoreline;
Predicting the correct result;
Predicting the correct margin of victory; and
Predicting the correct number of goals scored.
For each points category listed above (excluding number of goals scored) you will earn a score between 1 to 100 points (the exact amount awarded will depend on the number of other participants who also made the correct prediction). The lower the number of participants who make a correct prediction, the more points will be awarded.

A guide to the number of points which can be earned for each prediction is displayed on the FIFA World Cup™ Match Predictor page under each prediction bracket. Points will be updated 'live' while the match is in progress.

Bonus Points
You will only be able to answer bonus questions once the line-ups have been announced, from around 60 minutes before the match in question begins until kick-off.

For each correctly answered bonus question, you will earn an additional 30 points.

Joker
For every 2018 FIFA World Cup™ matchday, you can assign one prediction to be your joker. A correct joker prediction will result in any points awarded for that match being doubled!

Joker selections can be changed at any time up until the scheduled kick-off of the match in question.

https://predictor.fifa.com/match/rules

I haven't see anywhere where you can choose the joker result though.

First correct score result for me, will love the 289 points which will put me back on track after failing miserably in the first days of the world cup pool. I hope this is just the beginning and I hope many more to come as correct score results for me.

Same. Was so tempted to go for the 0-0 draw as well (which would have been the perfect score for Germany's hopes). I think Germany should handle Sweeden and Korea quite comfortably though. They'll have to hope Mexico do too.
3200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 17, 2018, 06:48:12 PM

true , but personally I'm eliminating germany from the outright
Germany was the 2nd favor in betfair after Brazil with like X6.00 , after today's match they are the 4th favor now with X10.00 so even market makers changed their minds
luckily for me Spain now is the 2nd favor with X6.200 to win , so was able to get some value ( not sure if I should trade it or let it run though )

Well I wouldn't back them right now either but maybe someone could take advantage of the odds, because the bookies only changed their minds because statistically it's now a lot more difficult for them to go through. Usually a loss means you're not going to get through, but as I said above if they demolish Sweden and Korea they'll probably be ok. Korea and Sweden are playing tomorrow so that's certainly going to be an interesting game. The best result for Germany would be a draw but I think Sweden are the stronger team by far (though they're probably not up to much now especially without Zlatan). There's also the possibility that Mexico might get too cocky and complacent and lose or draw themselves.
