3181  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do your own research on: April 06, 2022, 12:54:32 AM
They're saying, “This is not a financial advise, Do your own research” because they are never 100% certain of their recommendations. And also they don't want it to appear as if your decision is solely based on what they're saying. In other words, a blind decision. And definitely many of them are not financial advisors really.

In terms of investing in cryptocurrency, what does everybody say? If everybody is saying buy Bitcoin and everybody is also saying, “This is not a financial advise, Do your own research” then perhaps buying Bitcoin is the right thing to do. But in terms of short term trading advice where everybody is saying a different a thing from each other and they're all saying that people should do their own research, that's the time you should be wary. Because speculation is a guessing game. There is nobody who could claim certainty of their analyses.
3182  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia Was Prepared to Withstand Sanctions. Why Wasn't Europe Prepared to Impose on: April 05, 2022, 04:00:32 AM
. And I am very much willing to put my money where my mouth is. I am willing to bet for this. Are you?

I will find where to spend my money, and if you are such a "patriot" who watches fake news, donate to someone who tries so hard to make you believe in them. I say again, time will tell who is right and where, it’s not worth setting deadlines, but these posts will remain, and you have the right to find them and then think how stupid you were.

I was just saying it in case you are that convinced of your views.

I am not really a patriot although, of course, I love my country. But I am not a hard fan of the US and the EU and the enemies of Russia. I am just looking at things and trying to understand them as objectively as possible. And if there are fake news, I am more than sure they are more widespread in Russia than outside. At the very least, the media in the US and many parts of the world are less of a state tool for propaganda than those in Russia.

We will see in the coming weeks, but, so far, I am convinced that Russia won't be able to take Ukraine however prepared they claim to be.
3183  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia Was Prepared to Withstand Sanctions. Why Wasn't Europe Prepared to Impose on: April 04, 2022, 01:53:01 PM
I agree that the western countries and their allies were caught unprepared. And it's primarily because they probably thought it was unimaginable for Russia to invade Ukraine. To take a contested territory would be possible but to invade the entire country was perhaps out of their minds. This is the modern era, after all. They probably failed in their assessment of Putin. They simply underestimated his madness.

On Russia's side, however, I also don't think they were prepared. They definitely underestimated Ukraine and its defense capabilities. They overestimated their troops' capabilities. They underestimated the allies' reaction. If they were preparing for this war for the last decade or so, they should have pulled out their huge sums of money from European banks prior to the attack. They should already have detached themselves from SWIFT. They should have established much stronger markets outside the enemies' territories. Their oligarchs should have already been warned earlier of the possible sanctions.

Russia has lost its adviser to you. Only you could tell her what she should have done and what she shouldn't have done. And Putin, whom you think is crazy, has put Europe in an uncomfortable position today. Although grain supplies will also run out soon, which will make you think a little differently since I think that the lack of gas does not reflect on you.
Did you hear Biden let it slip? Not? He advised everyone not to worry, that any military situation is always in America's interest. But what about Europe, everyone will ask? Biden doesn't care. America supports war always only in its own interests.
Therefore, one should not consider people who lead countries as idiots, everything was calculated long ago, since these disagreements were not born a month ago. Russia knew what to expect and from whom, and as you can see, it was ready for anything.

Sanctions can only do so much. We all know that. I doubt it can fully convert a country. Heavily-sanctioned countries like North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, and others are still standing on their feet. Russia is apparently richer than these countries so we won't be expecting it to bow down either. However, this doesn't mean that they're ready or have prepared for it. It's just that crazy leaders like Kim Jong Un and Putin couldn't care less about sanctions. These sanctions are not taking any luxury or power from them. Neither Kim nor Maduro nor Putin is deprived of a sumptuous meal because of their madness. But their people are.

More than a month since the invasion, instead of successfully taking over Ukraine, setbacks are now seen. I am certain that even with another month of extension in this foolishness, Russia will not be able to take Ukraine despite all the propaganda that they have calculated and are ready for everything. And I am very much willing to put my money where my mouth is. I am willing to bet for this. Are you?
3184  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hitting the world every year on: April 04, 2022, 03:25:41 AM
There won't be a pandemic continuously happening in the next 50 years, so expect that things will start to recover as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic is completely gone. Unfortunately, though, there is the Russian invasion of Ukraine which rocked the prices even more. The timing is really bad. I hope this won't last long.

As far as inflation is concerned in general, though, things are already designed for it. We don't need to tackle it as if it is an uncommon phenomenon. But let's not commit the mistake of saving too much in fiat as the interest in banks is normally lower than the inflation rate. Well, at least we have Bitcoin as a saving alternative.
3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger - how to keep processing fees low? on: April 04, 2022, 02:43:32 AM
Why don't you try buying through this forum's currency exchange board? If you're buying a moderate amount, somebody might fill your order sooner rather than later. There would be no fees. The price is usually 1:1, meaning, your $1 would be given an equivalent of $1 in Bitcoin. You could state your preferred way of paying. If you prefer to use escrow, that would only cost you 1% more or less. If you're trading with a trusted member, you could even avoid escrow. You might want to visit that section for yourself and see if it's a good alternative for you.

3187  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's role in realizing 2030 SDGs on: April 03, 2022, 01:33:39 PM
These are nothing but goals. I'm certain that beyond 2030 the same set of goals are there. These are idealistic goals and we may never reach many of them. The point, however, of these SDGs is that we are doing something. We are striving to make this world a better place. And this is an endless pursuit.

And since we're like making heaven on earth with these SDGs, it can't easily be achieved. It takes more than a silver bullet to make this earth a paradise. And Bitcoin will just be a drop in the ocean of efforts and all kinds of initiatives to make this happen.
3188  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Digital banking platform on: April 03, 2022, 11:07:32 AM
Why should we be using Satchel? What is particularly in it that should convince us to create an account?

Personally, I won't get involved in a digital banking platform if it is not connected with my bank account. I admit I am using digital banking services, but they're offered by my local banks. In this way, should there be any untoward incident, it would be easy to personally talk to a bank staff for immediate assistance.
3189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Satoshi? Hypothesis with proof, reasoning, and statistical analysis on: April 03, 2022, 10:20:49 AM
I hope everyone reading the proof and statistic provided know that it doesn't justify Peter Schiff to be the reason Satoshi

Did you read it yourself? It wasn't even about Peter Schiff. It was about a different Peter, Peter Wuille. Of course, he's not Satoshi, either.

Quote
It seems Peter is indeed Satoshi. Not only do proof, reasoning, and statistical analysis point at him, he also admitted it himself. Just hours ago. Here: LOL!
Wait, don't tell me you believe Peter Schiff was indeed the reason Satoshi. I will advise you to read his tweet by heart and you'll see that he's pulling our legs after he's aware that some people claim he was Satoshi.
I hope you understand that we're in the "April fool" month.

Please read between the lines, my friend. There's such a thing as a tongue-in-cheek remark or post. That's sarcasm, in other words. I was hoping the LOL! would serve its purpose. It seems it didn't, at least on your part.

You don't read tweets by heart; you read them by your eyes. LOL!
3190  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia wants to build a new world order with China on: April 02, 2022, 03:26:20 AM
I don't think Russia has the capability to build a new world order. It doesn't even have the capability of taking over Ukraine. The more Russia acts as the tough guy, the more it is isolating itself. The more it insists that it is powerful, the more it becomes like a hermit country.

It cannot build a new world order with China, but it could offer itself wholly for China's disposal. China is the one creating a new world order right now. It has grown into an untouchable country. Sooner or later, to remain relevant, Russia will have to play the role of a sidekick to China just like how Belarus is to Russia today.
3191  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto Sponsorship in the Sports Arena on: April 02, 2022, 02:37:09 AM
There have even been lawsuits against Mayweather because of the shitcoin that dropped in value after shilling it.

Though I doubt it, I sure wish they actually end up paying a price. Because whatever let them advertise bad cryptocurrencies(as there are bad businesses), but it's very different when they're advertising blatant obvious scams.

I also doubt that case will go forward since we know how influence will matter in this kind of situation. This is reminder to anyone that even though how the project look good and who are those famous guys promoting those coins we cannot still guarantee that we can earn with it. Its better to stick on what we believe and learn from experiences, rather than believing on fake promises and get scam by them.

And the trouble in these scenarios where $hitcoins are being advertised rather
than a service like exchanges and gambling sites, they are associated with a sports
team or individual so they are seen as reputable. The case above proves just because
its advertised it isnt necessarily healthy.

There's not much difference between shitcoins and shady centralized exchanges and gambling sites.

But there's always Caveat emptor. It reminds us that marketing or promotional ads are simply paid ads. The teams and individual players wearing these brands on their sleeve or in front of their jerseys do not vouch for whatever products and services they offer. In the same manner that bitcointalk is a reputable forum but it doesn't vouch for shitcoins and scam exchanges and scam gambling sites that are being promoted here.

Seriously, though, are we not done with this Satoshi hunting yet? You know, this pointless hunting has already caused so much trouble to people's lives. Why can't we just stop and give the man/woman/people a break? Satoshi gave us Bitcoin and preferred to live a life away from it. Why can't we give him/her/them that?
3193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers are growing in numbers every day on Twitter, be careful out there on: April 02, 2022, 12:42:29 AM
Just reject any offer on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, and other social media and you're safer, especially when the offers come with a reward, ROI, freebies, and others. They're simply baits.  Reject them even if they are coming from Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos and Barack Obama and Donald Trump and others. Reject them even if they are coming from accounts with blue verified badge. Work your ass off! Don't chase the easy money.
3194  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay in rubles or have your gas shut off by April on: April 01, 2022, 03:32:59 AM
I have a feeling some, or perhaps many, gas companies might accede to the Russian demand, albeit secretly. And this is probably temporary, too. Things are happening abruptly and while there must be alternative sources and ways to do away with Russian gas, for the time being, it might do more good than harm if they acquiesce. But, overall, dependence on Russian gas will definitely start to wane down because of this invasion.

And this leverage by the Russians, while strong, is also a double-edged sword. It has its return damage.
3195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get going on: April 01, 2022, 02:20:22 AM
I understand you, I used to live in a highly urban setting where time seems to move too fast you can't even pause for a while and think about life in general.

Be that as it may, there must be moments when you could somehow multitask. Learning about crypto could be squeezed in during these moments. I'm talking about those minutes when you are in your car or in a public transportation moving from point A to point B, or when you are taking your lunch break, or even when you are doing your laundry or cleaning your room, or doing your regular exercise, and so on.

Husires has made this list of Bitcoin or crypto podcasts. These are downloadable so you could get to listen to them when you can afford to multitask or are vacant.

I hope this would help.
3196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Cant sell this coin on: April 01, 2022, 01:43:07 AM
Did you purchase the minimum amount of GMT? If it's only the amount that is stopping you from selling your GMT, it might be because you are selling a different amount from the amount that you bought.

I could be wrong and anybody please correct me, but I have the suspicion that since the amount of GMT that you bought isn't exactly the same amount of GMT that you received because of the fee, by the time that you sell, it is already short of the minimum amount.
3197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting up and trying again on: April 01, 2022, 01:04:31 AM
Start with the very basic. Perhaps ask yourself the very fundamental questions like, what is currency, what is cryptography, what is Bitcoin, what is a Bitcoin wallet, and so on. You don't have to master those. Understanding the mere definition of very basic terms is a good start already. What won't go as planned if you are only trying to know the meaning of the most common words in crypto? Don't push yourself to make large strides. Start with baby steps.
3198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is There any other country except El Salvador using BTC as legal tender?
 on: March 31, 2022, 04:12:16 AM
Other than El Salvador, there is no country that accepts Bitcoin as a legal tender. There are many countries, though, which are reported to have already considered recognizing Bitcoin as a legal tender. How serious they are, I'm not sure. I have read that bills are already planned or proposed in countries like Panama and Paraguay and others. But plans don't mean anything. Until and unless a bill is actually filed before congress or the parliament, there's no reason to jump into conclusion that another country will definitely follow El Salvador's step soon.
3199  Economy / Economics / Re: Member Of The E.U. Parliament Says Crypto Transactions Shouldn’t Be Anonymous on: March 31, 2022, 03:19:57 AM
Are they saying like, "Bitcoin is good, but just do things the way banks do?" Wait a minute, the way banks do things is exactly the reason why people prefer Bitcoin. That's why it's an alternative, right? This guy is like somebody who's trying to find a healthier alternative diet but not compromising the soda and the bacon and the chips and the burgers and everything.

But, well, it's already implemented right now. People are using centralized platforms with complete KYC so the one sending and the one receiving are known as well as their addresses, emails, phone numbers, faces, and all.
3200  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance unverified account on: March 31, 2022, 02:42:00 AM
I also have an unverified account on binance. I just logged in to my account to see if I have the same withdrawal limit.
As shown in the following image, the withdrawal limit for me is 2000 BUSD. Of course, I wouldn't trust what displayed there and I would never make any deposit.

Did the same out of curiosity. And, oh my, I was surprised to see this:

It's like I'm already verified! LOL! And the withdrawal limit is so low. It seems things are random with Binance.

Just like the others, I left Binance right after they implemented their compulsory immediate verification for everybody. I withdrew everything and never logged in since then. It's just today that I logged in to see if I have the same status with OP.

But inconsistencies have never been a strange thing with Binance.
