324  Economy / Economics / Re: Where did you first heard about Bitcoins? on: June 06, 2017, 03:05:55 PM
Also heared of it around 2013 - in an article where 2 guys where interviewd that sold marihuana out of Amsterdam for BTC - they said they will hold their profits in BTC for at least 5 years. I would like to know whats up with them today - if they really held the coins till now or spent it on cars and so on Tongue

Awesome project and I am really happy to be in the boat. Was on the IRC chat briefly and talked to the dev a few words. He seams like a legit guy and is trying hard to make the project fly! Smiley

Awesome congratulations man! It really is nice to hear a story like that - it only emphasizes the true nature of life - be thoughtful, be open and just try out new things Smiley
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there people here from 2013 who are not millionaires now? on: June 05, 2017, 09:27:16 PM
Been involved in bitcoin since 2011. Cashed in too soon. When it hit $20 I thought it was too good to be true and sold all of the several hundred I had mined to that point.

After that I didn't pay attention to bitcoin or altcoins for several years. Finally last year started getting interested again and bought some Dash at around $3/coin. Made the same mistake as before - sold when it hit $16.

Investing in several more coins this time and won't make the same mistake again - holding until I get at least enough to pay off my house and all other debts.

Oh you seem to have a good gut feeling for picking coins up at the right time - so what do you invest in now? Tongue
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are there people here from 2013 who are not millionaires now? on: June 05, 2017, 09:24:29 PM
I guess all the guys that traded marihuana for BTC and did not cash out - or only cashed out a bit are superrich. Read an article in 2011 or so about a Collective in the Netherlands that baught Marihuana legally  - sold it over the web for BTC and shipped it. And they where all committed to hold it for at least 5 years. Would be interesting to hear from them now  Smiley
329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in god? on: June 05, 2017, 09:10:05 PM
There is one really intersing story I love  - for me it shows the essence of that discussion

An old Chinese farmer had a mare that broke through the fence and ran away. When his neighbors learned of it, they came to the farmer and said, "What bad luck this is. You don't have a horse during planting season." The farmer listened and then replied, "Bad luck, good luck. Who knows?"

A few days later, the mare returned with two stallions. When the neighbors learned of it, they visited the farmer. "You are now a rich man. What good fortune this is," they said. The farmer listened and again replied, "Good fortune, bad fortune. Who knows?"

Later that day, the farmer's only son was thrown from one of the stallions and broke his leg. When the neighbors heard about it, they came to the farmer. "It is planting season and now there is no one to help you," they said. "This is truly bad luck." The farmer listened, and once more he said, "Bad luck, good luck. Who knows?"

The very next day, the emperor's army rode into the town and conscripted the eldest son in every family. Only the farmer's son with his broken leg remained behind. Soon the neighbors arrived. Tearfully, they said, "Yours is the only son who was not taken from his family and sent to war. What good fortune this is..."

330  Economy / Economics / Re: Looking for ideas to invest on: June 05, 2017, 09:02:25 PM
To be honest - as in investment for the upcoming years I would also look on the exact oposite site of what is happening in tech right now. So maybe craftsmanship and so on. If you for example look at the stock of Dominos Pizza - that one outperfomed facebook and so on in the last years. Now imagine if what they did to get such good growth happend to a whole industry - that would be cool I guess - even though it does sound a bit lame - but lame is often a good investment Tongue
331  Economy / Economics / Re: The Real Reason to Hold Gold And Bitcoin on: June 05, 2017, 08:51:40 PM
I would say the real value  in Gold nowadays - or the base - is in the money it takes to get gold out of the ground - and then there is a bit of speculation. It is the same for bitcoin with electicity - but the real difference - I think - is that for Bitcoin it is much more predictable how these variables change. I mean for gold no one really knows what it takes to get it out of the ground in 5 years from now.

334  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: June 05, 2017, 08:19:23 PM
I'd never pay for porn or even food with BTC. Can you imagine 10 years from now? "god dammn I wish I didnt pay for that wank  with BTC, that  few USD worth of BTC I paid is now worth 100k USD"...

But I think there could definitely be a thrill in it for cheapskate money slaves (if they even exist  Grin)
Spending 0.1 Bitcoin now on a porn, or mistress and so on and thinking about what could happen to that amount in the future and then you get your first satisfaction now from your mental cinema and the real satisfaction in 5 years when you realize the amount you spent on things like that Cheesy
335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I create a Bitcoin ATM? on: June 05, 2017, 08:09:48 PM
If you are sure about the idea you should definitely contact the guys from coinfinity.at - they are here in my country since a few years now and have a really cool version of a bitcoin ATM - it seems really simple and I think they also did a lot of the designwork themself. So if you need info or even need help to build up an infrastructure just contact them and Im sure they can help you. Really nice guys
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Minereum - The first Self Mining Smart Contract - NOW TRADING NEW ROADMAP on: June 05, 2017, 07:51:02 PM
The project definitely delivered so far and the deloper that "came out of nowhere" really did a good job and delivered as promised. If he can keep that up the project can really grow I think. I think there are definitely use cases to be found but for me the real question - and I don't know if that even matters - is how many people in total own Minereum. When you look at the the posts till the distribution happened - it is not a lot - so maybe only a few hold all the coins and they are in charge. So this is a thing that could really hurt the project in my opinion but we will see what the future holds for us.  Smiley
