321  Economy / Economics / Help me understand deflation scenario (of fiat) on: March 18, 2012, 08:05:13 PM
I like to think that I understand the (hyper)inflationary scenario that
could happen because of money printing, and how that would be "prefered" because it
is better environment for tax collection.
But that is exactly my problem,
I can't see how or why there is deflation scenario possible
if nothing else, because of ever increasing volumes of currencies.
Is deflation possible at this point in time and with todays circumtances ?
Who and how can withdraw that kind of volume from circulation ?

I found very little information on these questions :
How precious metals perform in deflation ?
Do they preserve purchasing power ?

If PM-s double price this year - sell half or hold ?
If PM-s double purchasing power this year - sell or hold ?

what to use next for wealth preservation, after PM-s bubble burst ?

What must happen for FED to increase interest rates ?
Would it be just a political decision or they "must" wait for something in economy ?

which one could double first ?

323  Economy / Services / Re: thebitcoinreview.com -Pays you bitcoins for completing tasks! Earn Free Bitcoins on: March 17, 2012, 09:20:39 PM
I like this when bitcoin speeds up evolution of something
324  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin got me some action... on: March 17, 2012, 12:18:34 PM
OP did not write the most important part
how did he actually describe bitcoins Smiley
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: beenz 'n da teenz :) on: March 16, 2012, 08:53:22 AM
i wanted to say that i think
price rise could accelerate when approaching 10 usd

and if it reaches 9 it will easily get into teens

so,
we only need to push to 9, from there on, it is self sustaining Smiley
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: message: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade on: March 16, 2012, 08:28:24 AM
I will, but how to transport coins to electrum from wallet.dat ?

can I use raw wallet.dat in mtgox ?
I don't know how to extract keys to import elsewhere...
327  Economy / Speculation / beenz 'n da teenz :) on: March 15, 2012, 10:44:32 PM
price could never be 9.x for long time
like it was just under 5

it would be too much psy-pressure especially if it gets there before 2013.

what was it like for price from 0.9 to 1 ?

so,
if 9 then 10+

328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: message: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade on: March 15, 2012, 10:26:35 PM
Probably your block database is getting corrupted for some reason. Maybe due to an antivirus or a bad disk.

The resolution to that would be to try to close the client, remove the blk*.dat files and launch it again (and wait while it downloads the entire blockchain again).

Additionally, there is a newer client than version 0.5.2 now as well.  Try using the latest ... v0.5.3

I suppose I did delete blk*.dat when I uninstalled it and deleted whole bitcoin folder
u suggest I do it again ?
I am leaving that one for the end...

I don't know how to create an installation .exe for new version
so I wait until it shows up at weusecoins

It is strange, because it just stopped performing for no reason,
everything else on my pc is working,
so one of my strategies will be waiting for it to repair itself Smiley

well, at least nobody is suspicious that this might be some kind of direct attack...
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: worth the wait? on: March 15, 2012, 06:38:43 PM
you should advertise btcoin with all your hart Smiley
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: message: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade on: March 15, 2012, 06:01:22 PM

i sent wallet file to my friend,
his bitcoin is working normally, and sees all transactions and balance
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or on: March 15, 2012, 03:11:28 PM
Why the sensational post title? Clearly you have some kind of connection problem, or a full disk or whatever. You should have
http://blockexplorer.com/q/getblockcount
blocks. Since you dont, its completely normal you dont see recent transactions or balances. Check your firewall, your drive or whatever needs checking.

Smiley
I just copied the message that is written in client

disks are not full

I dont need the block count, i need blockchain loaded in my client

What should I look for in  firewall ?
I did not change anything knowingly
I don't touch anything until it stops working...
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / message: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade on: March 15, 2012, 02:46:40 PM
I had 051 version when it started 10 days ago

it just did not update the blockchain

so I uninstalled all,
deleted all
installed 052

all looked fine for 2 days while downloading 165k blocks
never more than 8 connections

then it just stopped again and shows this same message
now i have 165447 blocks
I tried  checking all settings on, restarting computer and so on

win xp

it has 0 active connections since

?
333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hallelujah! on: March 13, 2012, 07:30:37 PM
now is the time for that guy that started a thread about buying 100k

he should "secretly" do it now,
and surprise the market Smiley
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea on: March 11, 2012, 07:39:22 PM
if it is possible to have total number of nodes in the network,
it sure would look nice

top 21 addresses by size Smiley

top 21 transactions of the last block
average transaction size in the last block
total number of transaction in last block

time elapsed after last discovered block and name of the pool that mined it

                                           hourly
% of the price change from the daily weighted average
                                           weekly
                                           monthly
                                           yearly

total sum of all bids and asks on all exchanges combined

335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea on: March 11, 2012, 07:34:15 PM
yesss

btc statistics all in one place

here are some stats
http://bitcoinstats.org/

basically
all from
http://www.bitcoinwatch.com/
and
there is a blue-ish site with mostly charts, it has days destroyed, total transaction volume and all that

but this new site should focus on dynamic data,
so that allways something is changing on the screen
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea on: March 11, 2012, 12:54:58 PM
This one is much better:

http://bitcoinclock.com/

i knew about this one, but it is to static

digital has more life to it
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: idea on: March 11, 2012, 12:53:46 PM
http://p2pmining.com/ <there is a counter on this site.

that is what I thought about
but self standing like http://bitcoinclock.com/

with more text

and some adds could find a place to be
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / idea on: March 11, 2012, 12:00:03 PM
maybe this should go under speculation, but here t is

I think bitcoin world needs some kind of countdown page,
for everyone to see when block reward is going to be halved
with difficulty changes taken into account and all that

this could help the hype about its scarcity.
It would be nice to see many sites link to it

I have seen the analogue clock, but something digital,
with some text about the change.

P.S.
it is really weird to see spelling checker warning in the word "bitcoin"
especially on this forum
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making a BTC pitch to a billionaire on: March 10, 2012, 10:25:00 PM
last year, I sent an e- mail to Jim Rogers,
inocently Smiley asking him for his opinion about bitcoin,
suggested him to start looking into it on wikipedia

I got the response within 30 hours
maybe it was not himself who wrote back,
but it was something like an apology  for not being able to say anything, because
he did not do his due diligence,
and suggested to me to take a look into commodities markets for investment opportunities

hopefully, seed planted...

Now I think it would go much better with Marc Faber.

340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is 'hard' digital money on: March 08, 2012, 02:33:35 PM
Hard is good.

some say also size matters

size and technology

it goes something like that Smiley
