I like your idea! We need both a frog website and a frog app for iOS / Android / WinPhone so all noobs can start to use bitmessage Phonegap application for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone will be probably be available as soon as Frog leaves Beta. Native apps will probably take a lot longer, though.

Frog is a great idea.
However I think for bitmessage to be a success there needs to evolve a market for pow, people are not going to want to drain mobile computing resources to send potentially 100s of benign msgs in 1 day. Or trade pow credits from other computing resources
Just my opinion but I think that is an important missing piece
You read my mind. I already have a "stamps" program planned. For about .3 mBTC, you will be able to purchase a credit (or "stamp") that gets your messages processed by powerful PoW servers will a lot of GPUs. This is how the service will pay for itself, and be usable on mobile devices.

you guys are crazy lol
Why? Not many people though that bitcoin which was worth a couple of dollars would rise to 100 bucks. When you could get 1370 BTC for $1 USD, theymos considered that overcharging.

I guess I misunderstand how it works at a plumbing level.
Don't worry about it. Bitmessage uses something that could be very easily confusable with a blockchain. There is a public list of all of the messages in the past two days, which your client looks through. It also implements proof of work as an antispam system, but no permanent blockchain-like storage is used.

I'd love to see an app that allows iOS and Android users to exchange BTC by bumping phones. The app would still be able to manually send to addresses and scan QR codes, but the bumping would be the primary method of exchanging addresses and transferring coins. It would use the bu.mp API. I think an app like this would be great for Bitcoin's adoption. I'd offer maybe 2 or 3 BTC. I don't know about the amount.
I think the problem with iOS (as usual) is that Apple won't allow Bitcoin related apps into the app store. At least that's what I read some times. (And the control it exercises over its closed walled garden ecosystem is the reason why I would never, never, ever buy a product of theirs.) The Blockchain.info wallet it on their store. They're fine with the apps, as long as it doesn't contain crypto that's illegal to export to foreign countries, as their App Store is worldwide.

I'd recommend a faucet, if you just need some coins to test with.

I'm getting this message too and it appears to be related to newly generated bitcoins. Some of the inputs I'm trying to spend are not quite old enough (confirmations). I'll come back and confirm this in a few more hours sometime after I receive 120 confirmations. I'm at about 50 right now.
This is correct. Electrum doesn't have proper handling for unconfirmed new coins. Some pools pay directly from the coinbase to your address, which is what would cause this error.

Yep, only problem is nobody wants to buy it I'm trying to get rid of this account as I no longer play minecraft Based on your username, I'm guessing you haven't had it for very long, as emeralds were a rather recent addition. Sad you got bored with it so quickly. But I hope you can sell. Minecraft accounts go really fast around here.

That's a lot of coin for a text editor.
Why is that license so expensive? Why is it 70usd more than notepad++?
I'll do it for 0.7
PM if interested !
It's cross platform. Notepad++ is Windows only. As a Linux and OS X user, I like to have something I can run without Wine. Also, it's scriptable and extendable. I like it, and want to support the project by buying a license. I'll PM you when I get home. Thanks!

Q: Which of the following sounds better to the AVERAGE person:
Your meal comes to 2.5 ________.
a) bitmills b) millibitcoins c) millibits d) "m.b.t.c's" e) bits
Yes, a subjective question, but I think it's safe to assume a poll of the general population would show a preference for "bits" 9 out of 10 times - possibly more.
Well, in my opinion, c. "Bits" would sound good, but it's already taken as a commonly used term in technology.

That's a very good price. This will sell quickly. You could even raise it 50 mBTC in price and it'd still be competitive.

Ok, I downloaded it. Opened the dmg (contains only the app, no installer or anything else) and draged it to the program folder. When I tried starting it a mac popup asked to accept incoming connections => ok Program never started but crashed before anything else happend. Tried it several times...always crashed. (Using MPB Pro / Snowleopard / all current updates). So I am pretty annoyed...not only doesn't it work but now I am worried that there is yet another shit on my mac possibly compromising security. Oh. Sorry. Here, try these instructions: https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Compiling_instructions#OS_XThey were written by me.

That's an unfortunate date.

Namecoin is the only coin which is actually different than 99% of all the other coins I'd include Bitmessage in that group of blockchain-based protocols that accomplish something novel instead of just duplicating Bitcoin's functionality. I wouldn't. Bitmessage in no way uses a blockchain.

Sublime Text unfortunately doesn't accept Bitcoin yet. I was wondering if someone would be willing to act as middleman and buy the license for me with USD using my name and email. I am willing to pay 0.65 BTC. PM or Bitmessage me if you'd be willing to do me this favor.

Because there is no special code going into it. I have simply run Py2App and bundled all everything needed into a single .app. Personally, I use the python source fresh from Github. But this is easier to get started with as you don't have to install anything prior to using it.

|
Does the mac version run without installing anything else or do need to install additional stuff?
thanks.
No. This version has all the requirements (correct Python, OpenSSL, PyQt) bundled in.

millibit - nicknames just add confusion.
In my humble opinion.
Yeah. Millibit is by far the best. It's quick and rolls off the tongue. It's already a nickname, because it's already fast! It's easier to say than "Bitcoin" in my opinion, and it really sticks in your mind.
