321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2012-06-11 Regulating Bitcoin in the US – A Technical Analysis on: June 11, 2013, 04:39:09 AM
This paper explores Bitcoin from a regulatory perspective. Please note Dion’s pure intentions: he explicitly seeks to find a balance between the constitutional/commercial rights of the individual against the government’s role in enforcing crimes against fraud and the drug trade. Nowhere does he state a desire to outlaw Bitcoins; in fact, he does the exact opposite: “This [n]ote will argue that Bitcoin should not be strictly outlawed.”

I have rearranged and extracted key points for discussion.

322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt valuations versus BTC - why still? on: June 11, 2013, 04:10:11 AM
In light of the recent ASIC attacks on BTC  Tongue  the difficulty has been shutting out GPU miners making BTC less profitable to mine.  In addition a lot of ASIC owners are selling BTC in order to recoup their ASIC hardware investments.  This has put a lot of pressure on BTC prices.

However alt coins are still pegging to BTC price.  Coinchoose identifies coins based on profitability to BTC.  Cryptsy only allows trading of alt coins against BTC (3 versus LTC).  The damage ASIC's are doing to BTC is rippling through Alt coin valuations.

I think we are coming close to a significant cross road.

1. We continue to peg to BTC past the GPU profitability break even point.  As a result alts are not profitable to mine and most die a slow death.
2. Alts decouple from BTC and are gauged not by their profitability to mining vs. BTC but to valuations against other fiat currencies (USD, EUR, GBY, JPY)

2. will require the implementation of a better exchange than Cryptsy.  Cryptsy is great, don't get me wrong but it has its limitation and while it helps reduce the scamming that occurs on forums it does not do enough to get alts decoupled from BTC and trading independently.

X - BATH SALTS!!!! lmao weeeeeeee

327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Coin (GLD) Info Thread - The Future of Digital Currency *UPDATE Binaries on: June 11, 2013, 12:41:35 AM
Respect mate, it's really nice to see someone taking an active approach of supporting one coin. People usually think the active support is posting "this coin to the moon, this coin is great, blabla" stuff but you really stood up and took some action.

A youtube video, doesn't make it valuable, its useless propoganda. You should give it value, first, and then promote it

Thank you for your comments.

I'm trying to get more people interested in the coin, in conjunction with increasing network hashrate, in conjunction with bringing the community together. I have outlined previously an entire list of areas where I'm working.

It is a combination of these efforts what will hopefully increase value.

No, creating services that accept GLD, is the only thing that will add value. Having Gold in the name, is not enough. Add value to it, and the miners will come on their own. People are greedy. They want $$, not happy thoughts and togetherness.

There is no point creating services to accept the coin until it is stable. IMO.

And the coin will never stabalize, until services accept it. Viscious cycle. Something as simple, as a market place, like bitmit. The value of GLD is so low, because the block reward is so high. A lack of foresite, by the developer. GLD is dead. All the money you are putting into it, is a complete waste. The sad truth? For people to mine it, it has to get into and remain in the top 3 on a site like coinchoose.
Soon, very soon, it will be up there.

Based on what? No one wants your shitty coin, deal with it.

i LOVE kewL aid but i'm over GLD~~cuz'n over an hour picking away and NO SHARES!!!=  BRING ON THE SILVER COIN!!! ;)WEEEEEE

I should add a couple more rules before this begins:

* Your bitcointalk.org account has to be at least 1 month old
* I'll start giving the coins away when first 50 people sign up

That is all!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

If you ever want to make the coins you have stashed more valuable, what you need to do is this:

When you earn your coins (let's say 5,000,000) save 1 million in a wallet. Sell 4 million to make money. Then spend the money from 2 million of those coins, to buy 1 million coins at 2x the price. Now your coins are more valuable Smiley

Please explain more how this works Smiley

Basically, you use the money you earn to buy out as many of the sell orders as you can and raise the value of the sell orders and the "last sold".

ie: then dump "bought" coins on market?= CIRCULAR TRADING..no?

http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_advertising_campaign

Devcoin was created by developers, and supports independent developers and artists. Meaning, this coin supports the creation of FREE TO USE: Games, Music, Videos, Stories, Graphics and more.

Most coins when mined, all go to the miner. When Devcoin is mined, 90% of the coins generated go straight to Devtome which is a project that helps developers and artists earn Devcoin.

I write on Devtome, and I am earning 20,000,000 Devcoin for writing 64,000 words this month.

20,000,000 DVC trades for 40 Bitcoin
40 BTC trades for over $4,000... for 64,000 words
Which makes every 1,000 words worth over $50. Who can afford NOT to do this, lol.

The eventual goal of Devcoin and Devtome can be found by looking at the Devcoin bounties. There are tons of projects listed, including: Creating a village, creating vehicles and creating a 1 seat rocket that can enter and exit space multiple times.

These projects will help not only Devcoin, but Bitcoin come to the light as a charitable and progressive cause.

Right now there is a word limit of 80,000 words per person, per round right now Smiley To make sure shares don't get too small Smiley

337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reason for interest in alt coins? on: June 10, 2013, 08:49:00 PM
Specifically, I support Digitalcoin because it's designed for quasi-instantaneous point-of-sale transactions, something bitcoin nor litecoin is very well suited for. Most new alt-coins bring nothing new of value to the table and I as a result don't pay much mind to them.

DGC looks good imo... well planned ...founder is on point no?;)weeeeeeee

338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZenithCoin [ZTC] Mining Give Away for SOLO miners! on: June 10, 2013, 08:30:27 PM
This is not the official ZenithCoin launch.

This is the 3rd launch!

50% of the coin is pre-mined (goes to solracx) and it is mined by "members only".

The worst coin release ever just happened for the 3rd time!

I don't want them for free... Not even all the pre-mined coins at once...

haaa =\i'd rake them for FREE!! ;)LOL
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ZenithCoin [ZTC] Mining Give Away for SOLO miners! on: June 10, 2013, 08:28:11 PM
Anyone without a lot of hash power normally is looking for a pool to join.

ZenithCoin [ZTC] does not have any pools for the first 3 days of launch (or more technically, the first 7,000 blocks).

At this time, only approximately 2,000 blocks have been mined.    87% of the coins in a block go to the winning miner, however 12% of the remainder will be distributed equally to any miner who has successufully mined at least one block.   So if you mine one block of ZTC coin, you get 84 coins with an additional percentage out of a pool of 80,000 coins.   So if there are only 100 miners in the next 3 days, then you will get 1,000 coins for one block!

Take advantage of this mining opportunity!!!

Official binaries can be found here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/zenithcoin/files

Restrictions:   Give away counted only for miners that register by emailing info@zenithcoin.com.  Miner should provide proof by providing ZenithCoin address.

WTF ARE U EVEN TALKING ABOUT OVER THERE?=)LOL
