do u have wattmeter? 2 1080tis with such TDP will use about 400-500W max. +100-150W motherboard+CPU. Power supply looks nice too, but to test - remove 1 card and start mining without another changes.
I'm mining lyra2z and killawatt said around 450w power draw for the whole system with both GPU running.

One of the two GPU tested fine and ran yesterday afternoon and all night.  I have removed it and put the other back in.  Testing that one now.  If it tests OK then I may have to try a power supply.  I can get a evga 850w gold for 149$ off amazon to try.

Yah tbh I would almost rather try a power supply first. Motherboard is a even bigger hassle to replace.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 11, 2017, 04:26:44 PM
Try setting both to 65 TDP.
Will do. If that doesn't help I'll have to remove one card at a time and test. Once those are proven to not be the issue it may end up being motherboard or power supply next.

The motherboard is a cheap B350 so I would suspect that first.  Could still be the power supply.  Pretty lame though it all worked fine for a couple days before this then suddenly it's messed up.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 11, 2017, 12:59:38 PM
My computer suddenly started to power off after about two hours of mining. Start back up it works ok for a couple hours then same thing.

I've dialed back the core to zero and memory is at -400.  TDP is at 60 on one card 80 on the other.  Temps are fine.  Ccminer mining zcoin.

Power supply or motherboard most likely?  Seasonic platinum 850w. Motherboard is a msi tomahawk b350. The two 1080ti are not in sli.

Rashkae thanks for the suggestions.  So far I'm enjoying the lyra2z efficiency over equihash.  Cooler temps and less power.  I've had to come up with a whole different set of profiles in afterburner since the dstm/equihash miner setup doesn't really work good for lyra2z.  Per your suggestions I'm now seeing a combined 6500+ kH/s from the miner client.  Using miningpool right now.

Been some teething problems but it is coming around.  My gigabyte aorus xtreme seems to be a bit more finicky than my FE card and wants more TDP for stability.  Makes sense I suppose since the clocks are higher out of the box.

Much appreciated.   Smiley

There are two versions there is the cuda9 specific one the better of the two?
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 10, 2017, 03:03:47 PM
Switched over to zcoin and am back to square one with getting the best settings.  Already blew up the computer overnight when the miner went down on me.  Obviously copying someone else's settings is only going to get you so far.  Cheesy

Currently am running ccminer 2.2.2 (tpruvot) from the official page here.  Getting about 6050 kH/s with two 1080ti.

Is this the best option for the miner software or are there better clients suited to our GPU and lyra2z?

I am seeing about 5 out of every 1200 shares rejected "Stale job" error.

Using dstm w/flypool.  Is there something wrong with my system or is this sort of thing normal behavior?  [21, "Stale job!"] is the only type of rejected share I normally see and the miner doesn't crash it just keeps going.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 10, 2017, 03:47:20 AM
On my system mining zcash with dstm that error happens due to an unstable clock speed and tdp setting. The driver crashes. Sometimes it will blue screen and reboot.

Why does temp limit come down as you lower TDP limit in afterburner?  If you lower TDP the card should run cooler so I don't understand why it should pull the temp limit down with it.

*** to the OP - is your FE GPU on the top or the bottom in your case? It will be best on the bottom with the Aurus on top.
Unable.  The Aorus is such a beast (3 full slots) that if I put it up top it is nearly touching the back of the FE below it.  It actually ends up being best for the Aorus to be underneath so each card ends up with a little space for air to move through.  Definitely not optimal.  Am doing the best I can with what I have.  A motherboard with better spacing would help.

On the bright side this fractal define S is a flat awesome case for air flow.  3 140mm ML140 corsair fans up front and 1 on the bottom for intake.  One up in the rear for exhaust and another 2 that exhaust air through the corsair AIO cpu cooler that mounts up top.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 09, 2017, 01:23:02 AM
Every card has different base/boost clocks etc. from the manufacturer.
An FE card will take higher overclocks in afterburner because it's starting out at a much lower base.
And it doesn't have worse cooling, it has different cooling that is designed to move air through the case and expel it outside.
Feed it cool air and it will run cool, or feed it hot air from the auros and it will run hot
Right on all counts of course.  I figured that out eventually on my own.  It was useful to watch GPU-Z and switch back and forth with it while working on the clocks.

Have some room to improve but progress has been made:
1080TI FE
60% TDP
+165 / -400
632 sol/s
64c
4w/sol
75% fan

1080TI AORUS XTREME
70% TDP
+150 / -400
703 sol/s
54c
3.8w/sol
67% fan

Installed a aorus extreme today in the system.  There is an FE in there with it.

As predictable the FE is now running hotter than it was due to now being somewhat suffocated.  What I can't figure out yet is why the FE will run 70% TDP, +250/-400 and it works.  I put those same settings on the aorus extreme and it blows up and crashes.

You would think the extreme would run better than the FE not the other way around.  Aorus has way better cooling and is running 12c cooler than the FE.  Yet it seems more finicky.

Maybe some trick to it I haven't figured out yet.

dstm - great work.  I am getting a more efficient miner out of this client than ewbf.

Rest of you gentlemen/ladies - your help has been much appreciated.

I'm going to try and get another 1080ti installed today in my system.  My concern is I chose the aorus extreme which takes a full 3 slots to fit.  It is going to be crammed in there pretty tight with my existing FE.  In the short term I may be forced to increase fan speeds and keep TDP down on both of them to keep heat down.  Long term I may have to come up with plan b.

Thanks.

Averaging 700 sol/s at 4.02w/sol.

1080ti FE
70% TDP
+250 core
-400 ram
57c
Fan 67%
Ambient 70 deg fahrenheit

How the heck do you specify a worker name?

zm --server us1-zcash.flypool.org --port 3333 --user t1QmwNgVc6VrhTuGgL9so7jeVz1BYcN3dPz/worker1

^^ It won't start unless I remove /worker1

/facepalm

Am obviously without clue.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 08, 2017, 03:38:39 AM
1080ti, EWBF

70% TDP
+250 core
-400 ram
57c

I am getting about 1% rejected shares.  Latency is 90-135ms on the miner.  Is the rejected shares from overclock?  Seems like more than it should be.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 06, 2017, 07:30:48 PM
I have been mining zcash w/ewbf.  Is it worth it to switch over to zcoin?

I totally get the point about days not investing (while waiting for volta) are days without processing any work and missed opportunity.  That makes sense.

I want to put another 1080ti in my MSI B350 motherboard and max out my setup.  The B350 officially supports x-fire only not SLI.  Is it possible to have two 1080ti on this motherboard as long as they are separate and not in SLI?
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 06, 2017, 01:26:34 PM
How long until Volta comes out?  Seems questionable whether it is worth dropping 750$ on a 1080ti right now.  Isn't it getting "old" at this point?
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 05, 2017, 10:03:22 PM
The best option to mine will change right now it isn't zcash from what I've read. You can do a lot worse than zcash though.

Your GPU may be more suited to one algo vs another which is another factor.
