321  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Report my Bitcoin earnings to the IRS? No way! on: April 17, 2014, 09:14:31 PM

I never agreed to be a US citizen. Trying to tax me, just for being born here, even when I live in another country is straight extortion.
Renounce your citizenship.

Besides the cost of $450, there is a ton of paperwork involved.

And that doesn't even guarantee success. Most people are denied any attempt to renounce their citizenship unless they are already a citizen of another country. I have a couple of friends that have tried to renounce their citizenship and failed.

It is easy to say "renounce your citizenship", but most people who say that have no idea of the difficulty involved. They are just spewing out words. They may as well say "move to mars".

The issue is becoming moot anyway. I have traveled internationally enough now that I feel safe in just disappearing in a foreign country whenever I am finally ready to do so.

Have fun in jail!

It doesn't matter if you own a pizza palor, mine bitcoins, or sell drugs.

You always owe taxes!

Why don't you move to a country where there are no capital gains tax and no income tax.

As long as you live in the US or are an US citizen you will be breaking the law and the IRS will catch up with you.

poor you, that you haven't been born in another country like the Ukraine ...

I would move there if they would grant me citizenship for free!

I always wonder how the brain of these people works:

Oh look, the price is low, looks like a good time to sell!

1 hour later:

Oh look, the price is higher now, let's buy some.

4 hours later:

Oh damn, the price is low again, i must sell before it goes up.

I hear the same shit in real life.

Already bought more at $400
327  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rally - Bill in Congress to treat Bitcoin as Currency on: April 15, 2014, 08:20:42 PM
That would be FAR worse, for me at least.  I plan on retiring and paying 0% taxes!  How can I do that if they class it as a currency?

That's very smart of you! Are you from US? If so, not paying your taxes is. Ot only a crime, but it is what SCUMBAGS DO! If you love your country, then don't we need money for schools? What about the road your car drives on? Or bridges? How about parks? He'll...what about that Submarine currently looking for the MH370 plane?

Listen, paying taxes suck! But it is necessary in modern societies. You can debate all you want how crooked politicians waste our tax income, or how taxes are too high...but one thing you SHOULD NOT DO IS NOT PAY YOUR TAXES! That is one of the dumbest AND least patriotic things you can do!  If you love your country, then you must pay your taxes. Period.

I consider it immoral to pay taxes. Listen to Hillary Clinton support the murder of half a million children to support the petrodollar:

If you have lived in Nazi Germany, would you have helped to hide Jews? Or would you have helped the government? Adolf Eichman obeyed the laws of his country, yet is despised by most people in the world.

I see blocks being generated at a steady pace. About 1500 new bitcoins every day.

If it goes to $1, I think I will start buying each one of them.

Ah, the good old days, when YOU could buy ALL the new bitcoins that were mined.  Cheesy
334  Economy / Economics / Re: STOP BUYING INTO ALT COINS , as you are indirectly hurting Bitcoin on: April 11, 2014, 07:07:34 AM
BTC has already earned the reserve status, people buy BTC to invest in alt-coins.  So nothing is going to hurt BTC since using BTC in trades only leads to wider adoption of BTC.

I think it would just have the opposite effect -- more people buying into alt coins, the better off BTC is.  Cheesy

I agree Bitcoin has already reached reserve status for other coins so it should still be seen as a store of value for some time

+1

The easiest way to buy altcoins is to buy bitcoins first.

Long time lurker and hodler, first time poster.

I just bought a small amount of btc to purchase a product without dipping into my larger storage. By the time the btc got from the exchange to the market wallet, my btc were no longer valuable enough to purchase the product I desired.

Can someone remind me why btc is master currency?

Use a buffer account.

I keep a few bitcoins in a Blockchain.info account just for spending. When I want to buy something using btc, I spend however many I need at that moment & immediately order replacements from Coinbase. So I don't have to worry about price fluctuations.

Being an early adopter means that we have to deal with a lot of problems. But just imagine if/when Bitcoin becomes big. There will be whole economic ecosystems based solely on bitcoins. We won't need to convert between fiat & btc. The value will go up & being early adopters, our knowledge will put us far ahead in the economic game.
336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Old Are Most Bitcoin Supporters? on: April 09, 2014, 08:17:53 PM
55, sold all my PMs last year and switched to bitcoins.

I use to own & program an Elf computer with 256 bytes of ram in my younger days. You would use 8 switches for the address bus and 8 more for the data, another switch to toggle the ram write line. Do this for each byte of your program. You had to think in binary. Another switch to start running things. My display was a pair of 8 segment LEDs.

340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Bitcoin on: April 05, 2014, 06:20:37 PM
It seems to me that the market cap of Ripple totally exceeds it's volume:

http://coinmarketcap.com/

Capitalization = $ 815,887,553
Volume = $ 68,099
Ratio = 11980

I have brought this issue up and most people just tell me that I am just stupid or uneducated. Whatever. Roll Eyes

But this brings up my #1 rule for investing. Never invest in something I don't understand. I need to understood both the concept & how it fits into the big picture. I feel I understand Ripple, I just can't see it becoming mainstream. And if it did, I can't see how it's value wouldn't be diluted.

Bitcoin has a ratio around 476
Litecoin is just under 100
Dogecoin is around 68

Blackcoin & Zetacoin are running around a 10 and even they have a bigger volume than Ripple. I would trust them long before I would trust Ripple.

My crypto investments are 95% Bitcoin & 5% Dogecoin. I trust Bitcoin because of the huge decentralized network behind it's elegant algorithm. I trust Dogecoin because of it's adoption of a fast confirm time, tiny costs of each unit, the huge community backing it, and the fact that it's inflation rate from mining will drop to about 5% each year at the end of 2014.

I don't trust Ripple.
